My family has been going here since before I was born. Dr Gillen has taken excellent care of all of our pets over the years. However, my old apartment building had a flea infestation and my 13 year old cat got very sick and anemic. We took him to Dr Gillen who basically shrugged and said we need to get the fleas off him or he'll die. We took him home and tried to bathe him and he became unresponsive. We took him to an emergency clinic in Springfield (who were excellent btw.) They gave us a pill called Capstar which kills all adult fleas on a pet. Immediate difference. They also told us the flea medication we had been told to get from LAH was pretty much ineffective. We got the kind they recommended and, after moving, we've been flea-free since. I cant fathom why Dr Gillen let us leave LAH with my cat in that condition. Three stars because, despite this anecdote, Dr Gillen has been a blessing to my parents over the years. I want to start out by saying thank you. Thank you for trying everything you could to save my cat and thank you for being honest with me. Today was an unbelievably hard day for me putting my cat to sleep. Thank you for squeezing me in at last minute so I didn't have to wait any longer for her to see a vet. Thank you for providing everything I needed up front so there wasn't any hidden surprises. Thank you for giving me options so I didn't feel like I didn't have any other ch...oice. But thank you for being kind. This is the first time I personally had to deal with being there when I had a beloved animal put to sleep and you treated me better than I could have hoped. The clay paw print you gave me was perfect and my husband and I heated up the oven to harden it as soon as we got home! I would not go anywhere else for pet care. Dr. Gillen is such a caring person and has always been there for us. He helped us so much with our dog Katy after we found out she had cancer and we eventually had to make the decision to let her go. His staff has always been good to us. Read Less

My pug, Maggie, is 12 1/2. She has epilepsy and arthritis. Dr Gillen has taken such good care of her. Her epilepsy is under control and he has done so much to help with her arthritis. He is very kind, patient and always takes time for Maggie and explains things to me. I can't say enough good things about Dr Gillen and Lincoln Animal Hospital. Everyone is helpful and nice. I have a crazy psycho cat. She decided that she no longer needed to use the litter, instead she thought the counter top or my bed was a better choice to do her business. I did everything I could think of doing, still I would find her presents everywhere except the litter. I concluded that the only way to stop this was to euthanize her. I cried. I made the appointment for her and I cried. I thought I better go pay for it and when I started to tell Kim what I was there for, I cried. Kim suggested one more thing to try, a calming collar. So I got one and got calming treats. Her appointment for getting euthanized got put on hold until December and I would allow her a little time. IT WORKED. I haven't found any presents from her since. Now in December on her appointment date, instead of her death she will get shots and return home with me. I can not express how thankful I am to Kim and the rest of the staff at Lincoln Animal Hospital.Read Less

One of our cats swallowed an ibuprofen and nearly died. Dr. Gillen and staff basically kept her in veterinary ICU. She required round the clock care for almost a week and they stayed with her night and day for that time. When the weekend came we took her home with us but she started to fail again in the middle of the night. Dr. Gillen personally answered his cell phone and met us at the hospital, in the middle of the night! I was grateful and humbled by the level of care he took with our baby. I truly felt like he and the whole staff were pulling for her as strongly as we were. Thankfully she pulled through. And when it came time to pay for her care, which was no small matter let me tell you, they worked with us on a payment plan. I wouldn't trust my kitties lives to anyone else. Read Less

My little dog got hit by a car a couple weeks ago and broke his shoulder. Dr. Gillen and his staff were so compassionate, helpful, and honest about the situation and what to expect. When my pup was still in severe pain a couple days later, they got him additional meds and made sure he was comfortable. It has been almost two weeks now, and Teddy is hopping right along, literally. When I went in today, everyone remembered him and asked about him and were genuinely happy to hear that he is doing well. They have seen us through some of the hardest days and happiest days. I have taken our cats to Dr. Gillen for about 20 years. The care has always been top notch. He is kind, gentle with the animals, and thoroughly explains everything. He and his staff also went above and beyond what I would have expected when my daughter's Boxer got cancer. Dr. Deneke is also a wonderful veterinarian. She does thorough research for the best diagnosis and most up to date treatments. One of my cats had a bad reaction to Demodex mites and she called to various universities to get opinions from top vets as to his treatment, treating our other cats and whether we needed to fumigate our house.
