Mc Kennas Veterinary Services

Low Point, Illinois
General Info
Pet parents from all over Low Point come to Mc Kennas Veterinary Services because of the friendly and well-informed staff. Mc Kennas Veterinary Services in Low Point establishes a connection with animals by focusing on sensory calibration rather than simply reviewing medical charts. The goal is to identify the tolerance signals as early as possible and help the pets in Illinois adjust to the exposure by avoiding overstimulation. The initial interactions between people often occur in the absence of verbal exchange. Before any examination session, the team observes tail position, spatial hesitation and micro responses. The lighting and scent levels are adjusted according to the target area to prevent sudden reflexes. Appointment scheduling is determined by the pet’s individual timeline for regulation. Some practitioners begin with orthopedic tests, and others just scan the body to see where the tension patterns originate. Across Species Mc Kennas Veterinary Services performs complex diagnostic and laboratory procedures for various illnesses, orthopedic and dermatologic interventions, and oral health. Exams might omit portions or advance to subsequent steps if a cat shows signs such as lip licking, paw withdrawal, or gaze shifting. Experts focus on posture and breath rather than vocalization to assess pain indicators, which is crucial for animals from stoic breeds and prey species. Re-acclimation is facilitated after the treatment. Families receive a detailed briefing on unique effects of behaviors that do not stop, and secondary stress indicators which necessitate disengagement in all activities until the need to decompress is met. Home care plans should be created based on the pet’s homeostasis level rather than specific body system healing parameters. Households throughout Illinois benefit from McKennas Veterinary Services’ conversational quiet approach to animal care, which listens carefully to the signals that pets give concerning comfort or confusion when in her presence. Popular services in the facility include diagnostics, vaccinations, ophthalmology, livestock/farm animals, spay/neuter, neurology, prescriptions medicine, reproduction (breeding), radiology (X-rays), and senior animal care with an emphasis on personal and professional care. From routine wellness plans to intricate health issues, Mc Kennas Veterinary Services ensures the confidence of pet owners through transparent communication and high standards. The team is committed to continually growing the practice and helping pet owners in Low Point and beyond access the best veterinary care.

The prior review is the exact opposite of what happened to us with Dr. McKenna. We had another vet that was treating our dog and wasn't doing much for him. I called Dr. McKenna's office and asked if I could bring him up there for a 2nd opinion. They said bring him right up. Dr. McKenna found out what was wrong with our dog, treated him and had him back to normal all in an afternoon. Our prior vet "dumped" us when they found out we had gone to someone for a second opinion. We have taken our dogs to Dr. McKenna now for 5 years and have had nothing but excellent care. His staff has always been caring and kind. Gay Lynn is our dogs favorite person there! Read Less

I called McKenna Vet to make an appt for my now cat. We acquired the cat through friends because they were unable to keep him due to their daughter being highly allergic. He was a patient of McKenna and I called them to have him treated for a UTI. I explained the situation that he was a patient there previously and even gave the old owners names so they could look him up. They told me they didn't have any appts this week which was understandable as I know vet offices can get busy but when I asked to make any appt at all the receptionist Gaylan (I'm not sure of the spelling) told me I needed to find a vet in my neighborhood. I live in Germantown right down the road. I then asked if they could refer a vet and she told me to go ask my neighbors. So they not only wouldn't see a cat who has already been a patient they couldn't even give me a referral to another vet. The office receptionist was incredibly rude and even if they did have an opening I wouldn't take my animals there now. After getting off the phone with McKenna Veterinary I called Germantown Hills Vet. They were nice welcoming and made an appt for my cat the same afternoon. I would 100% recommend them over McKenna.
