Took my puppy in because she was sick. They did an exam gave me special food and she also had some shots. Went back 2 days later because she was still sick asked them can they do a parvo test which was 55$ I made sure I brought enough just for the test wanted to make sure they charged me again for another exam 45$ which I didn’t have the vet couldn’t care less about my puppy. I waited before writing this review to give myself adequate time to calm down. However, I feel the need to say something about the events that transpired on April 17th.  On April 16th my dog was brought into the emergency clinic with vomiting, lethargy and pale gums. They gave my dog medication and suggested we take him home as he was showing improvement and were told to follow up with our REGULAR VET OF 20 YEARS and multiple pets (Markham Animal Clinic). Upon waking up and coming downstairs the following morning (the morning after Easter) I find my beloved pet laying in a puddle of his own urine and vomit, he is covered in bruising and red marks, barely breathing and unable to move - talk about traumatic!Upon calling Markham Animal Clinic at 8am and telling them about my pet's emergency situation, I'm told that they can't see my pet until 11:45 that day. It was at that moment I hung up the phone and found a new vet, who promptly said bring him right in with no questions asked. Long story short my pet had an extremely massive tumor on his spleen that resulted in massive internal bleeding (those bruises and red marks everywhere), how this was missed at his annual exam 2 weeks prior I still can't comprehend. Long story short, I ended up humanely euthanizing my pet in a strange office to end his suffering and pain. But I will say they handled the situation with grace and poise. There was no discussion of the bill before putting my beloved bubbs to sleep. Upon leaving the exam room, I was told to go home and that they would mail me a bill (which they did and I've since paid). Having that kindness and compassion from a total stranger's office in comparison to "my vets" office is shocking and heartwarming.I realize that it was the Monday after a holiday weekend and you were probably busy that morning but, I'm sure that my new veterinary clinic's office was busy too. Yet, they still managed to fit me in. I wont be returning to Markham Animal Clinic, however I'm also confident that your office doesn't care. As it's been a month since your office received my dogs record from the emergency clinic and to my knowledge nobody has called to ask how he is, I'm now painfully aware that I'm just another number to your practice. This situation is unfortunate as there are still a few "gems" who genuinely love and care for animals that work at markham. After this situation, they're not enough to make me return.  It's disappointing to see what this once stellar practice has become. Read Less

Love this Animal Hospital and Clinic.  Dr. Jack is the best of the best.  He is so fabulous with our dogs.  The clinic is spotless and as clean or cleaner than most human healthcare facilities.  Everything is explained and the staff take their time to devote the attention your pet deserves. We are very lucky to have this facility in our south suburban area, I would drive as far as I had to for this group of vets.  My only concern/advice is to get full pricing, when vaccinations are given some also come with a vet check up fee.  Get your pricing up front so you know how much to expect at discharge.  It is not cheap owning a pet, but they are worth every penny. My friend took a tour of this place and was MORTIFIED with the amount of large dogs in these tiny cages. I'm guessing there's not enough room? Why accept so many knowing you don't have the space for them. I really hope all these people know the condition their animals are in staying there. We will NEVER board there! The dogs are so loud and only are let out a few times a day? And you call yourself a boarding facility?! I'm sorry but your really lacking in that department. I sure hope others read this and know that your big animal are not given the space they need to stand up or even drink water! So sad.. The doctors and staff are really nice but whoever is in charge just sucks. Read Less

So long story short, I adopted a dog from a shelter late last year that was having skin issues, I took her to Markham Animal Clinic due to the recommendation of quite a few friends. The wait time was not bad but the care was sub par, the vet barely spent any time with my dog and then scraped her skin for mites. The vet also didn't care to hear much about her history and what I had to say in general about her health after I adopted her from the shelter. The scrape came back negative, he took a scrape from a part of her body that was not riddled with mites. He sent me with an antibiotic and an anti itch medicine and sent me on my way. I saw some small but hopeful progress in my girl at first and then it suddenly stopped and worsened. My dog was put on an antibiotic (Which wasn't FDA approved for canine use) for many many days that made her ill, she was most ill on a weekend when this office was not open (So I had to take her somewhere that would see her ASAP.) . So that week, I take my dog to another vet in the area and she scrapes and gets a positive result in minutes and took all the time she needed to hear my dog's situation and listen to my frustrations. I will not be returning here to Markham Animal Clinic with my pet. Read Less

So I used this Vet many years ago and apparently they still have an account for me. Today I have received several hang up phone calls from the same number and just got off the phone with what sounded like a 4 year old and was as smart as my 2 year old. Telling me that my account bounced a check. For get this a check that isnt in my name or with a bank that I bank at.Needless to say I was never impressed in the past and now that I live 2 counties away after todays incident I would NEVER use this vet again. Markham Animal Clinic is the best vet I have been to in over 20 years. We have been taking our boxer Harley there since she was 7 weeks old. Dr Jack is amazing; he does a full body, eye, nose and heart check each time we visit. He always is available for calls if you have any questions-he say's "You know calls are free". When I have bought my fur baby Panther to be cremated on April 5 that Dr. Brandi and the staff that Markham Animal Clinic has shown that not only that they are very compassionate people who knows how to work with the public during the rough time that no pet parent should never have to face but there are times in life that we all have to face it at one time or another and they have also shown that they are very understanding people who works how to work with the public whether they are going through a very rough time or not. They including Dr. Brandi has send me a Thinking Of You Card in the mail, so I have decided to send a post Thank You message on Facebook, so Thank You to Dr. Brandi for the care that she has shown to my fur baby Panther before and after his demise and also to The Whole staff at Markham Animal Clinic. About 6 months ago we recently discovered my cat had a severe thyroid problem. Dr Jack took all steps to help us nurse him back to health. He was very detailed and educated on the steps we needed to do at home to get Max back healthy.  We were able to enjoy his life and company for quite some time after. . Unfortunately the sad time came when we had to decide to say goodbye. Being one of the most difficult decisions of a pet owners life, Dr. Jack handled my cat with such gentle care and compassion. Dr. Jack is not just an ordinary vet. We have used Markham for 15 years, they are professional and the care an d compassion is 2nd to none. We will never take our pets anywhere else, if I moved 100 miles away I would still come back to Dr. Jack, when our 14 year old lab passed at the begining of the year he was of great comfort to us, the staff is awesome as well.
