Get a second opinion before choosing what the vets tell you. Spent nearly $1,000 on a surgery and the cat passed away within 12 hours of coming home. We were told we were out of the woods after the surgery was successfully completed. The cat should have stayed another night and been monitored but we were told she was fine and ready to be picked up the same day. I arrived 20 minutes late to my appointment because my cat would not go in her carrier. I apologized when i arrived and the woman said 3 times how i missed my whole appointment and that I would have to come back a different time. This was my first time here and last. I understand i was late but they had to keep reminding me... the first thing i said when i got in was sorry im really late my cat wouldnt cooperate and get in her carrier. I cannot say enough about the compassion and wisdom with which the doctors and staff at Mokena Animal Hospital treat, both their animal patients, and their families. Recently a friend of ours boarded his healthy dog at an unnamed clinic. Upon the dog's return to our friend, the dog was unable to eat, walk, had diarrhea, and was incontinent. At our friend's insistence, they agreed to keep the dog for diagnosis and treatment. At the end of that time, the dog went home but showed no improvement. Our friend believed he would have to put his baby down. At our suggestion, our friend agreed to get a second opinion from our vet, Mokena Animal Clinic. They agreed to see the dog, Koda, within an hour of our request for an appointment. My husband and I joined our friend for the visit. The veterinarian and her technician discovered that the dog had painful oozing lesions on about 75% of his body. The vet and vet tech spent two hours (after business hours) gently shaving and treating Koda's painful wounds. They diagnosed the other condition that immobilized the dog, and gave the dog treatment for that condition as well. In less than 12 hours of leaving the Mokena Clinic the dog was walking and eating! Koda is now showing great signs of improvement and is well on his way to what we hope will be a full recovery. I want to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. L. and Link whose noble and devoted efforts saved our friend's beloved pet. I have been going to Mokena Animal Clinic for 10 years and I could not be happier with their service. My VET Dr. Kate Ball is the absolute best. She has been seeing my dogs since they were all puppies, she has been there every step of the way with my now 15 year old Bishop. Sadly, we had to put our dog down last weekend due to his age and illness. The dog sensed what was probably happening and urinated on the floor. Something that he does not do when in a room full of people. The staff was wonderful and compassionate. Through tears we were present with him as he was administered the appropriate shots. The doctor was wonderful and understood what we were going through. Even though this was an emotional experience for us, the office did not take advantage of our grief. The cost was very reasonable. We took our cat in for a checkup and the vet recommended cleaning his teeth. We scheduled the cleaning and when we picked him up he was very lethargic. We thought he was out of it because of the anesthesia but after a couple of hours he was just laying there and was very warm. He wouldn't eat which is not like him. When we called the vet they said to bring him back in the morning if he wasn't doing any better. My husband insisted they see him immediately because something was wrong. When they saw him they had to hook him up to an IV and gave him meds because he got an infection!! We have since moved out of state and our new vet requested his records and they lied and said we came back the next day and that we gave him medicine that caused him to vomit! Very upsetting! I would not recommend this animal clinic to any family or friends. My parents I have been taking our Golden Retrievers to this vet for MANY years and today was the last straw. I called yesterday to get a refill on prescription drops and cleaner for his ears (they get infected when he is swimming all the time in the lake). I called again today to make sure they were ready to be picked up and the receptionist on the phone said they were, so I drove all the way there to pick them up. When I walked in she said that the vet would not be giving the medicine for his ears and that someone should have called and left me a message regarding that, let me remind you I had CALLED THEM 30 minutes prior and no one said anything about that. The receptionist then stated I needed to pay $50 for a visit for the vet to tell me what I already knew HIS EARS ARE INFECTED! What a joke!!!!! This vet just wants to nickel and dime you for everything on top of having horrible customer service!!! I will definitely take my business and care for my dog elsewhere from now on. Read Less

My dog had slip disk. I went to 3 clinics that turned me down. They didn't have room or we didn't have a membership. I took her to this animal clinic and they took me in right away. So we believe my daughter was cut off and dealt with road rage by one of your employees. It was around 6:30 ish when my daughter pulled up at this clinic to make an appointment (she works in that same parking lot area and thought that would be easier) and was told by a lady that they were closed (that lady was very nice). So my daughter goes back to her car and was leaving when someone honked at her. A lady in a gray Hyundai (with no front plate, but back was an IL plate) comes from between your clinic and the building next to it. She pulls up behind my daughter and rides her butt in a parking lot! You shouldn't be going faster than 20 mph in a parking lot with people! But I guess this lady was in a hurry and takes a short cut and goes around my daughter, speeds up, and cuts her off. My daughter had to slam on her breaks and honks at the lady, because she nearly ran into her. The lady starts screaming at my daughter. They both turn, but in the process the lady breaks checks my daughter 3 TIMES! My daughter honks at her again and the lady, who was in such a hurry in the parking lot to being speeding, SITS AT A STOP SIGN. She screams some more at my daughter and drives off. I've been a client her for about 7 years. I have brought about 3 dogs, 1 cat and 5 rabbits over the years. I will be changing clinics now after this little road rage. I also told my mother and father who will be pulling their animals after 20 years of being a client (a few dogs and many many cats). I already lost one child to a car accident, I'm not going to lose another one! This review would have been a lot worse if google allowed the words I wanted to use. I will be calling to complain and inform my friends to be cautious when going here so they don't get killed by the same "female dog." You just lost $6,000+ a year in profit. Read Less

My dog was going through an injury and was treated there for three months. My wife and I were out of town when our dog took a turn for the worst and the decision was made to end her pain. It was a Saturday and we called the clinic to be told they were busy and it may take a while to get to our dog. My sister in law brought our dog in and was told maybe 1/2 hour (this was 45 mins after we called) then after 30 minutes she was told another 1/2 hour then maybe another. The office staff knew she had an appointment that she was able to delay 1.5 hours to be with our dog during her last moments but NO they couldn't fit her in and our girl died alone. We have had pets for 40 years and everytime we needed to have one put down every vet or facility would take us in almost immediately and put us in a side room. We may have had to wait a little bit but a doctor would take a few minutes come in talk to us about the situation then leave and return (or have someone else) with the drugs and administer them. We would be given time to collect ourselves and would leave. The entire situation was handle with sensitivity, professionalism and understanding. This occurrence in our opinion was handled just the opposite of what we, and almost all we have spoken to, expected. We will not be going back to this clinic even though we felt the Vets were ok and the pricing reasonable. Read Less

Best care, both my boys went in for neuter surgery and a dental. The knowledgeable staff cared about my boys, made sure I understood what was to come. Explained the after care and what to watch for. We have taken our dog Max McGee, a Westin/Poo, to the Mokena Animal Clinic for several years. Prior to his retirement, we dealt with Dr. Ingmire, since then we have dealt with Drs. Fazio and Bolokowicz. In March 2016, we travel to Florida for one month and Max did not travel well, constantly barking on the way there. We contacted Dr. Fazio and she worked with us to find the right sedative to calm him for traveling and to reduce his barking while at home. Needless to say she was successful. In late January 2017, Max became quite ill. Dr. Bolokowicz took care of him. While he was to able to save Max, it was not due to lack of trying. Dr. Bolokowicz and the staff were very kind and consoling during our period of grief. We recently adopted a wonderful Bichon/Poodle mix, Barney. In 2015, I went with my daughter, Robin Stanish & her rescued (dog attack) infant raccoon to Mokena Animal Clinic. Dr. Ball handled everything above and beyond my vet experiences. Because of Dr. Balls (& staff) attentive actions, they are now my vet also. I have vets in my area, but I drive 12 miles to go to Mokena Animal Clinic. They are so very caring and their prices are a little better than other vet clinics. Now, for the past couple of years I have been taking one of my two kitty-kats, "KiKi" to Mokena Animal Clinic. All but one of my visits have been emergency visits and MAClinic has always been able to give KiKi an appointment. She has been seen by Dr. Wayne Ingmire, Dr. Michelle Berry, and Dr. Kate Ball has performed surgery for teeth extractions. And, now, a few days ago KiKi was seen by Dr. Andrew Bolokowicz (Dr. B.) All of the Doctors and the support staff have been fantastic with KiKi. They are very concerned and outstanding with my fur baby and with me. My family has been using Mokena Animal Clinic for about 10 years now. It started when my young pet rat had a tumor. Most clinics I called didn't deal with exotic pets, but Mokena Animal Clinic does! Dr. Kate Ball was phenomenal with the care she gave to Mallow, my baby rat. They removed the tumor and she had a long healthy life! I continue to go there with my other pet rats (Dr. Wajda also saw the ratties and is amazing!). We've taken our cats (Dr. Fazio has seen them, and she is awesome!), and we've been there with all our senior dogs. The dedication to their career is above the rest. I have never once felt rushed during a visit. They truly put your pets' needs first. They love their patients! I would recommend Mokena Animal Clinic to anyone. When we moved here over 20 years ago we asked our neighbors about a vet. They all said Mokena Animal Clinic. Over the years we have had several four legged members join our family, and some depart. Dr. Ingmire and his entire staff have always provided top notch care, explaining everything and answering all of our questions. I would never take any of our family anywhere else. I have been more than impressed with this vet office. I have encountered 4 of their different doctors at different visits so far with both of my pets. Dr. W helped try to save my pet after another vet was inconsiderate and stupid, and practically killed him! Even though it was too late, when we had to put him down it was peaceful and the Dr was caring and lovely. I had another pet who has been getting treatment from Mokena Animal Clinic and they have been wonderful with him as well. They do not try to push you into unnecessary testing they start with the little stuff first to try to solve the problem. They are all very wonderful and caring people. I recommend you at least try to take your pet here if you have an issue. I personally believe their prices are reasonable due to what my other vet had been charging for unnecessary testing on both of my animals and she NEVER found their problems they were having. My pets have seen both Drs Wajda and Ball. They are the most caring and knowledgeable doctors you could ever hope for and the prices charged are so reasonable compared to many other places. We have been to many a vet but here is great! We like how they take a special interest in each one of our pets and how when necessary they have consulted with other doctors outside their clinic but in their field for additional ideas. I started going there a few years ago because I had ferrets and very few Clinics treat "Exotics". Dr Kate Ball is the most animal friendly Vet I have ever met. She talks to the animals the same way I do....as if they were people. Little by little I took one more of my animals there and now she treats them all! She is a sweet,wonderful person. In all my years of caring for animals, mine and others, I have never met anyone quite like her. My pets love her. I sincerely hope she never moves too far for me to travel. I live pretty far from Mokena and it takes me about 45 minutes to get there, but I wouldn't trust my pets with anyone else! Read Less

The staff are just wonderful. Very caring and kind.My cat of 17 years had to be put to sleep due to a cancerous tumor thatwas very aggresive that basically took my beautiful sweet Cat from a vivacious, fun,fat cat to a shell of hardly anything within 2 weeks. The compassion that wasshowed by the staff was second to none. The wonderful cremation services thatthey offer are wonderful and tastefull. Thank you to all who made such a verysad time in my life a little easier to understand and cope with.I also bring my Conure in for her regular wing and nail clippings and again,the staff is wonderful and just showers her with attention when we come in.Getting appointments have never been an issue.
