Took my dog for a nail trim there. They were "cut" SUPER SHORT plus it looks like the technician bit them off instead of trimming. There was some blood on his paw. There are issues with front desk people sharing my private information about my dog with people who call in or ask about it. I told them that is private information and it should not be shared unless i give permission. The front desk girl just said "your animal isn't covered under HIPPA act" . I already know that is for human patients but my information in the chart and in the hospital is Private information and is covered under Privacy act. They just shrugged their shoulders. Read Less

Our beloved pug Mari had a lump on her face. We were hoping it was a abscess tooth. It was not, on Jan 19 we learned it was a cancerous tumor. The staff could not have been more compassionate. I called, often, with questions regarding her care and progress. The staff was always sweet and patient with me on the phone. Early Friday morning I knew it was time to let her rest. We took her in yesterday afternoon. Dr. Horazy, who had treated her in January and had been so helpful with medication helped her cross. My family and I are incredibly thankful for her and the staff. I had tried at least 5 vets around the area, and this place is easily the best. It's not over priced but it's clean and the staff are so friendly. My dog was missed diagnosed there, even when all the facts were given to the doctor. when looking up all the symptoms on the internet, the correct diagnoses was there. She did not take the time to do a simple blood test and ultra sound to find out the problem. Instead my dog died a week after his visit there. I would never bring another one of pets there again! I have been here twice so far and I love this office! The first time was to get my dog up to date with shots and the second was to have a rescue dog we just got evaluated because he had a limp. Both times I was greeted with a friendly staff and very knowledgeable employees. They don't tell you that your dog needs all these extravagant procedures or vaccines. They tell you like it is and it's very refreshing. Oh, and you make an appointment which is awesome! I have been taking my 2 dogs here for the past 2 years since moving to the area. I have always boarded them at a vets office, just in case. I used to have them bathed, but they do a very basic bath. No brushing. So the hair that was flying around my car on the way home was horrendous. When I mentioned the hair issue their response was "we aren't groomers".A few weeks ago I left them for a long weekend visiting family. I asked for a nail trim on my little girl, and they said absolutely. When i picked them up they charged 25.45 for a nail trimming. I was beside myself because if i had been told of a charge, i would have declined. Their response was "we aren't groomers". My boy, after arriving home, had a cut on his head. I have been coming to Mundelein Animal Hospital since 1989. I was referred by a friend and am forever grateful. Every part of the team is wonderful. The staff at the front desk are awesome. They always ask how my pets are doing and make sure I get the help I need. The techs are equally as awesome. I think by now they have all taken care of my cats and are so friendly and answer all my questions. I trust them all with their part of the care plan. I trust all of the vets with my pets. I like that all of the vets are familiar with my pets' histories. My primary vet is Dr. Tim, but if I call with a concern and he is not in, I trust all of the vets to handle the problem and do the best for them. I can't say enough about how much I love Mundelein Animal Hospital. Not only do they provide excellent health care, they also provide a family-like atmosphere, and I feel like I am a part of that family. You cannot do better than Mundelein Animal Hospital. Read Less

Took my Toby here for a fecal test and a puppy check up. The staff was very friendly and the Dr. too, he even cleaned a little accident my puppy had lol. I was recommended here from Petsmart as a hospital that sees exotic animals. My hamster Pancake had declining health since April and found out he had Cushing's Disease. From the start, Dr. Long was patient, helpful, and very gentle with my Pancake. I had to put him down last week and was completely devestated. Today I received a With Sympathy card with all of the staff including Dr. Long. This really touch me. I just have to say I would recommend this hospital to anyone that has pets. Wow. I wish I could give this place 100 stars. Background: I have a basset hound/shar pei mix, whom I've had since he was 8 weeks old and he's now 4 years old.  Since the day I got him, he has had chronic ear infections in both of his ears. Every single vet I've taken him to from Chicago to Arizona, no one could permanently fix this problem, and every visit was a predictable $250 visit with the same diagnoses. Never could be cured, and treating was a huge hassle holding him down to clean the ears while he's in immense pain (this was especially hard, hurts my heart to see him in pain)I decided on a whim to bring my dog Chuy to the Mundelein Animal Hospital to get another opinion after being referred by a friend about how great this place was. Truly, her recommendation did not disappoint.Normally, every time I bring Chuy to have his ears checked they will tell me they need to do a swabbing of his ears ($$) to figure out if it's yeast or fungal (it's always the same, all four years) then give me about 3-4 different treatments ($$$$$) and recommend to come back multiple times ($$$). When I met the doctor at MAH, he had already gone through Chuys records, said that we didn't even need to check what type the infection was because it's always the same (thank you) and brought Chuy AND me (so I could comfort him) to the back while he tried this new ear medication that literally cleans out his ears on its own and should solve the problem. That's it. I couldn't believe it. He said a week will go by and the medication will sit inside the canal to clear the infection. Then after a week, he gets another dose, and it should be all cleared.Never in my 4 years of having my dog did I ever expect to - be in and out of a vet appointment within 20-30 minutes, have the doctor tell me he knows exactly what to do that will take care of the problem, and then returning again to be told the infection is cleared in one and is almost in the other. The bill was to my surprise, WAY LOWER than I expected (under $100) I was so happy that I basically left the place in tears. To this amazing establishment - thank you SO MUCH from the bottom of my heart for genuinely caring about not only my fur baby, but MY time and my own emotions. I have dealt with plenty of vets who could care less about all of the above. If you're trying to decide on a vet in the Mundelein area or NW suburbs area. Please look no further. Not because of poor customer service, not because he was terrible with the animals! Look at past reviews. They all love Dr. Tim. We are so upset & disappointed! Are dogs will so miss Dr. Tim! We will miss his thoroughness & compassion when are animals are ill. He listens to the owners when trying to solve a problem. They are now owned by National Veterinary Associates. I was very disappointed with my last visit to the Mundelein Animal Hospital.  My dog and I spent more time with the technician than we did with Dr. Horazy.  She prescribed a number of medications for my dog and did not bother to come back in the room to tell me what they were for and the possible side effects.  She made me feel like I was the cause of the issues that were being experienced by my dog.  She was curt to the point of being rude.  It was like she was just churning through appointments so she could go home.  This is the last time I will make an appointment without specifying the vet I would like to see.  She did not show one ounce of compassion for my dog or me.  We have been a client of the Mundelein Animal Hospital for years. If my dogs were younger, I would switch animal clinics in a minute but   they are both older and feel comfortable with the surroundings.  My advice is to research the staff and ask for a specific vet when you make an appointment.  The final amount of my statement certainly did not reflect the level of service that I received. We have been bringing our pets (dog and cats) to Mundelein Animal Hospital for 10 years.   They have shared and been witness to our joy of adopting a new pet, to check-ups and sick visits, the senior years, and the tears and sorrow of saying goodbye.  The front desk and vet techs are wonderful, always friendly and helpful, with flexible appointments available.    The doctors are great, they take their time to examine, explain, and answer all questions and concerns.  They don't suggest any tests or procedures if they aren't necessary.   I trust them fully with my babies. Most recently our dog had surgery to have a large mass removed, I can't say enough positive things about the entire experience.  Dr. Herrmann did an incredible job with the sutures in a tricky location - they healed perfectly with no issues or infection.   The care and compassion received thru the process made a stressful time easier for us and her! Dr. Sullivan charged us for blood work for my dog during yearly vaccinations and we ended up paying over $180 on top of her yearly vaccination cost.  My husband and I were shocked for the cost and didn't understand what it was for.  We went home and realized he actually did blood work on my dog without our consent, for the surgery he said she needed right away which we were going to think about later and decide!  Well, it's been a year and my dog never needed surgery.  He misunderstood whatever he thought we said because my husband and I both did not realize he was doing that.  AND I don't remember him telling us how much the blood work would actually cost either.  Very bad communicator!  If you go to Mundelein Animal Hospital, make sure they don't do extra work without telling you and also make sure you get the prices prior to the work they supposedly do!  We wouldn't return to Dr. Sullivan! My fiance and I love Mundelein Animal Hospital. The vets there are very knowledgable, patient and compassionate. Most recently our boxer mix had an accident which left her tail broken and gashed open. We went to Premier Vet group in Grayslake that did an awful job with her surgery they removed 2 inches of the tail and that didnt work there was a lot of negligence on premier vet group in grayslake. We came back to Mundelein Animal Hospital because they are our regular vets and Dr. Heather Johnson and Dr. Kristen Horazy took great care of our dog along with there fantastic staff. They completed a second surgery and removed the remainder of her tail. Best vets in the area hands down. We will continue to use there services. Thank You Mundelein Animal Hospital. Read Less

We are new to this clinic, but have needed their services three times in the last 3 months!Hands down, Dr. Long was awesome on the two visits she treated our exotics (Rats) Very empathic, thorough, and patient. Unfortunately we had to have two pets put down.Our older dog was seen by Dr. Wallace, who was extremely thorough. When we return for further care for our dog I will schedule with Dr. Long, just a personal preference. The clinic and rooms are very clean, I was impressed that it didn't  have that typical clinic/pet odor As my dog upon arriving, pooped in the waiting area and within seconds someone was cleaning up after her! Yes they are a little pricey.. However my dog was really sick and they made time for me. I had no appointment. But again they made time for me. They didn't try to run extra tests or try to do extra tests. They just asked for previous records which I was able to provide. They even offered to call my old bet clinic to get the records. They were really good. And I'm extremely happy with the services. I trust these doctors in everything that they for my dogs health and not there pockets. Read Less

My husband and I have been bringing our Cockatiel 'Sherlock' to Mundelein Animal Hospital and Dr. Herrmann for a long time. We love it there and have never had a bad experience. Dr. Herrmann has a great personality and always takes time to answers any questions we have. Whenever we go on vacation we board Sherlock there and the staff loves to see him. This place is great for exotic pets. I brought my sick hamster, Moo, in and Dr. Long was amazing (I saw her for every appointment until I brought him in to be put down). After a long battle, his time came to an end and Dr. Herrmann ended up having to put him down. They explained everything and are very sympathetic. Although I wish the outcome was different I am very greatful for the experience I had there. I will be going there from now on. On a side note, they are the most expensive animal hospital I have been to, but it was well worth every penny. You can't put a price on the experience and care you'll receive here. Read Less

I became familiar with mundelein animal hospital during my time working at a shelter in the area who used them for emergencies and operations that couldn't be done on site. Everyone from the wonderful front desk staff to the techs and vets are incredible at what they do and shortly after visiting a few times with shelter animals I switched over to them with my own animals! IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A VET YOU HIT THE GOLDMINE WITH MUNDELEIN ANIMAL HOSPITAL! I have taken 9 different cats and my dog here over the years and they always give me peace of mind.  We ALWAYS see Dr.Sullivan who has a special way with my cats and understands and helps with any issues that they have. They were there for me in the passing of two of my senior animals and I'm forever grateful for the support that they provided,  including sending us cards offering their condolences. I recently moved to the city and I miss everyone at mundelein terribly!  I'm hoping to plan a mega appointment for my 6 cats and my dog in the near future once I have the funds because it's absolutely worth an hour in the car with screaming cats to see Dr.Sullivan!  As a vet tech and future veterinarian myself,  I would be honored to work alongside the people who make up this practice! Added bonus is that Dr.Hermann is very well trained in exotics care which is hard to find. The only thing that I have a hard time with is the cost of treatment,  but as with many other things in life, you get what you pay for.  I do have many more pets than your average bear, so mundelein and doctor Sullivan have graciously provided discounts in the past when I've gotten all of my animals vaccinated and examined the same day, and even the extra 10-15% greatly helps a young student who has a lot of furry mouths to feed, so I'm forever grateful to these lovely, understanding people! In e past I would have agreed with others about top notch care.  However as of the last few years, not so much..  Last year when our female Sheltie was having problems with incontinence we spent too much money and time bringing her to the office to be told give her these pills.  It's hard to give a cranky old dog pills when she won't eat.  We sadly mad the choice to put her to sleep when she stopped eating altogether and just staring off not responding to her nam.  Dr. Hermann was extremely sympathetic to our feelings and made such a horrible situation as easy as we could. Mup to the last minute I td myself, if she balks when he takes her I'll stop him from doing it.  She didn't even fight a bit.  They let us grieve as we needed to and set us up in a room with a separate entrance.Amongst all this going on we had both of our male dogs in multiple times.  The puppy due to diarrhea and digestive issues,which sadly only resolve by feeding him RX food that costs way too much.  Our older male dog we spent a TON of money on visits, exams, X-rays, radiologist, etc. all to be told to cage him for 6-8 weeks for his foot to get better.  Turns out I was right in my own diagnosis of a corn on his pad.  It never went away.  I researched it online and found a vet who had recommended steps for treatment.  I followed those and got him walking on all four paws at least, but still not without some limping and pain. Bultimately we found another vet willing to do a procedure to cut the corn out.  Turns out the poor guy had a corn deep into his pad the size of a small pebble.  I can now say I have my happy guy back and he now enjoys his walks again.My advice is if you can't get Dr. Herrmann or Sullivan, wait.
