We primarily see Dr. Reed who is exceptional, although we are always happy with the care we've received from the other vets on staff, as well. The front desk staff at Wheatland is polite, professional, and efficient whether on the phone or while we are there. Wheatland Animal Hospital has been there to support us with new pets, as well as when it's been time to say goodbye, a time when compassion, integrity, and honesty are critical. Veterinary care can sometimes be expensive when there is a crisis. We have always been given options when it comes to making decisions which we appreciate. This is an outstanding animal hospital.  Everyone from the office staff, vet techs and veterinarians are supportive, patient and kind in the most stressful situation that I could have experienced with my cat.  After months of going to 3 different vets in my area to treat my cat and getting minimal care for maximum price, this vet was recommended to me by a friend.  I drove an hour to get a surgery that my own vet refused to do and another vet wanted to charge me $2000.00.  I was at the end of my rope and this was the best experience I have experience in all my 20 years of owning an caring for my pets. We are new to Naperville and had an accident with one of my dogs breaking through a window trying to chase a squirrel. He was bleeding from his front paws and I couldn't tell if glass was stuck in there. We didn't have an established vet in the area yet but I called wheatland and told them the story. They told me to come right over and they'd fit me into their schedule even though they had a busy morning. I was so grateful that they were willing to do this for us. I have taken both of my dogs to Wheatland animal hospital. My first dog was 13 when we put him down with Dr Dupois and my second dog was 14.5 when we just recently put her down with Dr Faith. Dr Faith did two ACL surgeries on our golden and each time she had a better life. She was literally running up until the last few weeks at the age of 14. We love it here! The staff is super friendly and helpful. You can tell they all really love the work they do. They make you feel right at home. Dr. Chris is amazing! We moved farther away, but still make the trip to see him because of how awesome he is. He really listens to our concerns and gives us honest, informative, opinions. I am the most apprehensive to take my pets into the vet.  I did work for one many years ago and learned much about the business.  From the techs, office staff to the veterinarian itself found this place very professional & very compassionate.  We had a cat 16 plus who all of a sudden became ill and would not eat.  Dr. Maggie who is the newest vet helped us deterimine what should be done.  We did many tests and the x-rays pointed to something not good.  With much effort of trying this and that, we decided to euthanize.  It was a hard process, but with Dr. Maggie & staff did make it a little easier to swallow.  My other companion cat then became ill which I believe up till now is a depression.  She saw everything that was happening to the companion cat here at home and withdrew the day the cat was left at the vet overnight.  I brought her in yesterday to have an x-ray & blood tests.  X-rays came out well, still waiting on the blood work that will be here tomorrow.  Hopefully not all gloom & doom.   I continue to work with my surviving cat until we know what we are going up against.  I would trust this vet for any future visits.  Doubt if we'll ever get a pet again due to the hurt & pain it causes.  Lost too many pets, one feral cat that we had over 6 years and was ever so cherished almost a year ago to the day.  I cannot take another heartbreak. I AM LIVID!!! I changed vets because our previous animal hospital was sold and the service was getting kind of crappy. I received many great recommendations for the Wheatland Animal Hospital so I decided to try them out. I walked in and immediately the front office had an indescribable demeanor. I chalked it up to she was having a bad day and moved on. I was escorted into a room quickly.  The WONDERFUL nurse (she was very sweet) came in to do the initial exam.   Doctor Reed came and and looked at Rocky and told me what MIGHT be the problem. I had called the day before and received the price for the office visit($55) and x-ray ($88), knowing he would need an x-ray. Doctor Reed told me (non-nonchalantly)that they were going to sedate him for the x-ray. I thought nothing of it, never had a dog who needed x-rays before so whatever. I did ask why did he needed to be sedated. I told them although he is 115 pounds he's extremely docile. After the x-ray the doctor showed me what the problem was and the nurse gave me the medication...NO PROBLEM. I was escorted to the front desk again where I was ready to pay and the woman said "that's going to be $421.00". UMMM WHAT?!?! I proceeded to tell her that I called yesterday....blah blah and she said yes but he was sedated $85, an extra x-ray was taken $58 and an reversal sedation was given $27. Not one time did the doctor or nurse go over any prices with me before the procedures. I figured that the sedation was including in the price of the x-ray i thought it was routine...I didn't know and no one informed me of prices BEFOREHAND! He did not tell me there would be an extra x-ray, nor did i know anything about reverse sedation?!?!?!? The receptionist asked if I wanted to talk to the business office manager regarding a payment plan,..sure. In the midst of talking with the business manager apparently the receptionist told her I was upset. REALLY?!?! YOU THINK?!?!? I guess she figured I was an angry stupid black woman and needed to be taken into a room and talked to calmly. We talked I told her what happened and she said well i'll talk to the doctor and get his side and call you on Monday. There is no his side. She talked to me in a very calming voice, mind you I never raised my voice, caused a scene or went ghetto (AS THEY SURELY EXPECTED ME TO).  I called yesterday to get a price and this was not the price. My husband (who is white) came to the office to inquire about what happened but I had left. The business manager, Joann,  told my husband that I was mistaken and that the doctor did tell me there were going to be extra x-rays and some other B.S!!! When I finally paid on the agreed amount from yesterdays phone call, I asked the receptionist if this happens often she said no it really doesn't. OHHHHH so it's just me!!! To make things crazier I was escorted out of the back door. I have a MASTERS DEGREE FROM DEPAUL UNIVERSITY, I graduated from Mother McAuley High School and graduated from Morgan Park Academy elementary with Alderman Burkes' son as well as Alderman Sawyers' son and several other (now) high ranking officials.  I am far from STUPID, GHETTO, ANGRY and LOUD. They stereotyped me before I even opened up my mouth. They need to work with more people outside of their race.  I have never been so appalled as I was today with this office. DISGRACEFUL, SAD and whats wrong with our country today!                                                              I gave them the one star due to the 2 sweet nurses that helped me AND that they cut Rocky's nails and didnt charge me for that! It's healing up well and hair is sprouting back over his turkey leg (shaved his whole leg)! They took the utmost care of my special friend and I am the happiest owner for them. First 2 test wheatland diagnosed my animal with cushings she did not have it. I did not even make it to this vet. I live in the area and was looking for a new vet. I am very picky about my vets because I am very particular about what my dogs eat. This place basically told me that they were not the place for me because I refuse to feed a prescription diet or give my dog steroids for allergies. I have gone to vets where this isn't their standard practice , but understand my wishes and will work with me. I asked for a quote on the allergy blood test, but did not get it. It makes more sense in my mind to figure out what the dog is allergic to with one test rather than subjecting the dog to what could be months of food tests and never really finding out the answer. Steroids and other meds are a bandage not a solution. I have owned a dog with allergies before, I am a certified dog trainer, and a big advocate for natural and/or raw diets. I am not new to this and did not appreciate being treated like an idiot, when in reality it is this vets office that is sorely miss informed and just out to take my money. This vet was very clear that they knew nothing about nutrition and was perfectly fine pumping my dog full of chemicals that aren't going to solve the problem. I am glad I am not going here and I suggest if your dog has allergies you do your research and not go either! Read Less

The vets and tech assistants at Wheatland are all extremely caring, friendly people. My dog has been seen by Dr. Roger Dupuis, Dr. Faith, Dr. Peters, and Dr. Chris Dupuis over the course of almost 7 years. We made an emergency visit yesterday after he ate 8 ounces of high cocoa content truffles. Both Dr. Peters and Dr. Dupuis, and three tech assistants helped him through his mini-crisis. They also calmed my son, who was quite nervous about his dog's wellbeing. We were in and out within a few hours, and our dog is showing no ill effects whatsoever. I trust this team of veterinarians completely, and I know that they'll always treat my dog gently and with respect. I would never consider switching practices. Read Less

We started bringing our older cat here in February of 2012.  She developed chronic diarrhea right before our move here from California the month before. Dr. Reed has been wonderful working with us to manage this illness. He listens carefully, is thoughtful in his decisions about what medications or diet changes to try, understands the realities of life(like trying to feed a special diet to just one cat in a two cat household), and is very compassionate. He is extremely knowledgeable and keeps up on the latest research. Despite having lost a lot of weight, with Dr. Reed's help, our cat is still here and still has a good quality of life two and a half years later. Dr. Peters and the entire staff is about as good as it gets. Its never a good day when you realize that your cat may need medical attention but Dr. Peters was very reassuring with every step of the process. I came in Monday late afternoon for an exam for my cat that was lethargic with some vomiting. He put me at ease when it was recommended that I leave him overnight for IV fluids and rest. Dr. Peters was even nice enough to bring me back into their back room to show me his X-Ray and to show me why he was concerned with his small intestine. I really appreciated that because sometimes you can only picture so much when someone is explaining something to you. It was definitely a quiet night at our house but I knew he was in good hands. Dr. Peters called first thing Tuesday morning to keep me updated on his condition and that I would be able to come pick him up that evening. He looked like he felt so much better since the night before. Again, Dr. Peters was just so kind to explain how his hospitalization went and some after care for when I took him home. Even better, my bill was about $175 less than the estimate they had given me the night prior, score!Just 12 hours later, Jerry is back to his playful self and even has his full appetite back!Thank you Dr. Peters for your hard work! I continue to be surprised at the awesome care my cats get at Wheatland. I have 3 cats, and my luck is that they all have some sort of issue: diabetes, cancer, chronic €potty€ issues... I think one of the best things about this place is that they don€t try to push unnecessary tests and procedures. As pet owners, I feel we are often taken advantage of because most of us will do anything a professional/expert says if it means our pets are comfortable and healthy. I actually trust these guys and if I tell them that something sounds too expensive, they are always willing to work with me to find an alternative while keeping my cat€s health the priority. Most recently, my oldest cat was found to have a tumor on his front arm and the limb had to be removed. The care they gave him was amazing. Everyone was so helpful and answered all of my many questions. They reassured me that he would bounce-back from the surgery quicker than I thought and he did. They saved his life and I wasn't bullied or pressured into making the decision to move forward with the surgery. Instead they laid out all of the options and were supportive of whatever decision I made. Bottom line: if you are like me and have had experience at many vet offices, you have seen the difference between the guys that are just in it to make money and the good guys.
