I have been taking my lab mix to them for 10 years. Dr. Walter and Dr. Elizabeth are dedicated to their patients. I see Dr. Elizabeth. 3 years ago she found a lump on my dog. She removed it and pathology confirmed it was cancer. So she saved my dogs life. She found the lump because on every visit she palates every inch of my dog. Now that my dog is 10 Dr. Elizabeth spends appropriately 30-45 mins checking every inch. I have a friend who is a vet at a clinic in the western suburbs. At that clinic each Appt is 15 mins or less. It’s a business more than a healing facility. Dr. Walter and Dr. Elizabeth own their clinic. They are the bosses and don’t answer to a corporate bean counter.

Have been going to Doc Wally for over 15 yrs. He has taken care of most of the familys' pets from birth to putting them to sleep. He is the most compassionate and wonderful vet. Only stopped going to him because I moved out of state but my two 15yr.old kitties were "chipped and taken care of" since we got them at a couple months old. We have been using this vet practice for a decade now for our dogs. They are kind, compassionate, and able to provide quality specialized services for our dogs' medical problems over the years. Dr Walter successfully repaired a torn ACL. Dr. Liz has done multiple dental cleanings, tooth extractions, dog bite repairs, and most notably figured out one of our labs had blastomycosis. Without her tenacity in getting to the bottom of his symptoms the way she did, he would not be here with us today. We are grateful to have found this practice and appreciate all they have done for our dogs and the kind support staff including their clinical assistant Ann. Their quality of service is worth any wait you may experience on a busy day at their practice.

Both Dr's are great with pets - No doubt! They took care of our dog Zoe for over 16 years and provided excellent care for her. However, in the end and with a weeks notice (for whatever reason) we could not get our little Zoe in for an appointment to have her go to doggy heaven. After calling 3x and still not able to get an answer from the staff for an appointment, I had to go to another vet. So unfortunate after 16 years.

We love the staff at Hickory Creek Animal Hospital! Everyone there is so nice and friendly- even when they are busy, they are still attentive and nice. We take our puppy, Bailey, to see Dr. Elizabeth- since she's had so many puppy check-ups, we've gotten to meet with Dr. Elizabeth a bunch, and she is PHENOMENAL. Always super attentive and answers all of our bunches of questions without an issue. She always makes sure she's doing things in Bailey's best interest- After seeing Bailey got pretty stressed when she needed 2 shots, next appointment she made sure to space them out and set up a 2nd appointment a week later so Bailey didn't get stressed. She also performed her spay, which went extremely well- she recovered beautifully. Based on staff alone, I'd give Hickory Creek 5 stars. Sometimes, though, they are extremely busy, and you have to wait a fair amount of time. Though, I've found this to be the case at many different vet offices, so it's not usually a big deal. They do have a few office cats that roam around- They're not intrusive or anything, but since my husband and I are both allergic to cats, sometimes we get a little itchy sitting in the waiting room.Otherwise, though, I'd highly recommend Hickory Creek! I've heard great things about Dr. Walter as well!

Dr. Walter is absolutely amazing! He cared for my German Shepherd for 9 1/2 years. He took the time every visit to make sure my dog was fully healthy. He cared for him like it was his own pet to the very minute of his last breath. After my pet passed away he took the time to even write me a full letter saying how happy they were to have met my pet. He will be the only vet I bring my animals too. I can't recommend this place enough!

I am in awe of the compassion provided by this family owned animal hospital. Yes, sometimes they are behind on scheduled appointments. But that is only because they are providing care to both ends of the leash. When it comes time to treat your pet and you during difficult life decisions, I would go nowhere else. Do yourself a favor and build a relationship with this practice during the good times. They will be there for you and your beloved pet when times are tough.

Dr. Walter And Dr. Elizabeth are fantastic! On occasion there maybe a short wait for non-emergency appointments but ample time is given to all clients. Phone calls are returned the same day. The staff are very professional, friendly and caring. Unfortunately, this past Saturday we have to put our elderly dog down. Dr. Walter and his staff were very sensitive to our emotional turmoil and scheduled an after hours appointment so we had his and his staff's undivided attention. As long as we live in the New Lenox area, Drs Walter & Elizabeth will be our pet's primary vets. I can't say enough nice things about them!

I've been going to Dr Elizabeth since 2007. I was referred to her by my brother after he had taken his cat to several veterinarians who did not know what was wrong with the cat. Dr Elizabeth figured it out and saved his life. She is always attentive and informative. I only trust my pets with her. You do have a bit of a wait time but that is because she makes sure that everyone's questions are fully answered. Highly recommended and worth the wait.

This is a small, family owned hospital that seems to really care. It's not a numbers game of seeing as many animals as possible in a given day. As a result you may have to schedule several days in advance to see a Dr. (unless its an emergency). I have owned several animals in my years & have used several different Vets in the area. This is my favorite. I waited a year to write this review to make sure the service remained good & my opinion stayed the same.This would be 4-1/2 stars if Yelp would allow & 5 stars if I didn't have to wait a little too long each time I go there. However, once you see a vet, they will give you all the time you need without being rushed.

I owe my dog's health to him, and have come to consider him a good friend. The appointments do tend to run long, but this a good thing. Dr Walter is so thorough that he wants to make sure all bases are covered, while having general concern for your well being also.Thank you Dr Walter for the tremendous service you have provided my dog and my family.

Both Dr. Elizabeth and Dr. Walter are amazing vets; they love our pets like they love their own. They are personable and really care. The wait is often long, but well worth it. I have been to other vets where I am made to feel like my dogs are just a number. These two vets, Ann (the amazing vet tech) and the staff are amazing. The prices are reaonable. These are most caring vets I have ever encountered. They call after appointments to make sure that our pets are doing great.

I was referred here by a coworker and this has to be the best vet I've ever been to. The last vet I had our cat with left a plastic thermometer cover in him after a surgery. Walter was great with our cat, and our cat was very comfortable with him as well. Usually he will hiss when picked up by strangers, but with Walter he was fine. They took the time to go over all my concerns and explain everything to me. The wait time wasn't bad at all. I arrived about 10 minutes before my appointment time and saw the doctor immediately. I think it just depends on who is there before you and what issues their pet is having. The office staff are wonderful also. I will be taking our cat back to this vet again.

Whilst the doctors & staff at Hickory Creek are friendly, professional and knowledgeable, their service is slow. When I called to make an appointment, I had to leave a message, and it took several hours to hear back. This has happened on several occasions. They do take their time with each patient, yet the other hand is that your appointment is always late. I've sat in the waiting room for an hour waiting for the Dr. to see my pet. They are often behind schedule.Great Drs, but leave lots of time for your appointment.

You won't find a better vet than these two! We tried three other vets when we moved our here..........the fourth was a charm. Hickory Creek is friendly, clean and most of all CARING. They definitley aren't in it for how many office visits they can squeeze in a day. They take time to talk to you, to get to know your pet - and sincerely care about what they're doing. You won't find a better place to take your pet. You'll never feel rushed and you will always feel welcome!

The vets at Hickory Creek Animal Hospital allow 1/2 hour for each pet. They do a wonderful job of checking your pet out for everything. Very comprehensive, and are willing to work with those who do not want to go with the conventional vaccines and/or conventional feeding. Very easy to work with, and will work until they have found a cure for the disease or a remedy for bothersome symptoms. They really are super, and I have recommended all my friends to them.

I have no preference as to which of the doctors I get. They are both great and my dachshund loves them both. They are very caring and knowledgable and handle animals gently. The staff is also great and it is easy to get an appointment. Although I don't think price is important when caring for my pet I do believe their charges are more than fair. I don't know what else to say except I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else!

You cannot find a more caring or personable veterinarian! Dr. Walter spends time with you and truly cares about your pet. I have moved from the area, but continue to drive over an hour to see him because I know my dogs could not receive better(or even the same)care anywhere else. There are so many good things to mention, but the best was when Dr. Walter introduced me to an injection for my arthritic dogs that have helped them dramatically. I only wish I would have found him years ago! He's very personable and has a fun sense of humor. Dr. Elizabeth and the entire staff are all very nice!

I have been taking my lab mix to them for 10 years. Dr. Walter and Dr. Elizabeth are dedicated to their patients. I see Dr. Elizabeth. 3 years ago she found a lump on my dog. She removed it and pathology confirmed it was cancer. So she saved my dogs life. She found the lump because on every visit she palates every inch of my dog. Now that my dog is 10 Dr. Elizabeth spends appropriately 30-45 mins checking every inch. I have a friend who is a vet at a clinic in the western suburbs. At that clinic each Appt is 15 mins or less. It’s a business more than a healing facility. Dr. Walter and Dr. Elizabeth own their clinic. They are the bosses and don’t answer to a corporate bean counter.

Only stopped going to him because I moved out of state but my two 15yr.old kitties were "chipped and taken care of" since we got them at a couple months old. We have been using this vet practice for a decade now for our dogs. They are kind, compassionate, and able to provide quality specialized services for our dogs' medical problems over the years. Dr Walter successfully repaired a torn ACL. Dr. Liz has done multiple dental cleanings, tooth extractions, dog bite repairs, and most notably figured out one of our labs had blastomycosis. Without her tenacity in getting to the bottom of his symptoms the way she did, he would not be here with us today. We are grateful to have found this practice and appreciate all they have done for our dogs and the kind support staff including their clinical assistant Ann. Their quality of service is worth any wait you may experience on a busy day at their practice.

Both Dr's are great with pets - No doubt! They took care of our dog Zoe for over 16 years and provided excellent care for her. However, in the end and with a weeks notice (for whatever reason) we could not get our little Zoe in for an appointment to have her go to doggy heaven. After calling 3x and still not able to get an answer from the staff for an appointment, I had to go to another vet. So unfortunate after 16 years.

We love the staff at Hickory Creek Animal Hospital! Everyone there is so nice and friendly- even when they are busy, they are still attentive and nice. We take our puppy, Bailey, to see Dr. Elizabeth- since she's had so many puppy check-ups, we've gotten to meet with Dr. Elizabeth a bunch, and she is PHENOMENAL. Always super attentive and answers all of our bunches of questions without an issue. She always makes sure she's doing things in Bailey's best interest- After seeing Bailey got pretty stressed when she needed 2 shots, next appointment she made sure to space them out and set up a 2nd appointment a week later so Bailey didn't get stressed. She also performed her spay, which went extremely well- she recovered beautifully. Based on staff alone, I'd give Hickory Creek 5 stars. Sometimes, though, they are extremely busy, and you have to wait a fair amount of time. Though, I've found this to be the case at many different vet offices, so it's not usually a big deal. They do have a few office cats that roam around- They're not intrusive or anything, but since my husband and I are both allergic to cats, sometimes we get a little itchy sitting in the waiting room.Otherwise, though, I'd highly recommend Hickory Creek! I've heard great things about Dr. Walter as well!

Dr. Walter is absolutely amazing! He cared for my German Shepherd for 9 1/2 years. He took the time every visit to make sure my dog was fully healthy. He cared for him like it was his own pet to the very minute of his last breath. After my pet passed away he took the time to even write me a full letter saying how happy they were to have met my pet. He will be the only vet I bring my animals too. I can't recommend this place enough!

I am in awe of the compassion provided by this family owned animal hospital. Yes, sometimes they are behind on scheduled appointments. But that is only because they are providing care to both ends of the leash. When it comes time to treat your pet and you during difficult life decisions, I would go nowhere else. Do yourself a favor and build a relationship with this practice during the good times. They will be there for you and your beloved pet when times are tough.

Dr. Walter And Dr. Elizabeth are fantastic! On occasion there maybe a short wait for non-emergency appointments but ample time is given to all clients. Phone calls are returned the same day. The staff are very professional, friendly and caring. Unfortunately, this past Saturday we have to put our elderly dog down. Dr. Walter and his staff were very sensitive to our emotional turmoil and scheduled an after hours appointment so we had his and his staff's undivided attention. As long as we live in the New Lenox area, Drs Walter & Elizabeth will be our pet's primary vets. I can't say enough nice things about them!

I've been going to Dr Elizabeth since 2007. I was referred to her by my brother after he had taken his cat to several veterinarians who did not know what was wrong with the cat. Dr Elizabeth figured it out and saved his life. She is always attentive and informative. I only trust my pets with her. You do have a bit of a wait time but that is because she makes sure that everyone's questions are fully answered. Highly recommended and worth the wait.

This is a small, family owned hospital that seems to really care. It's not a numbers game of seeing as many animals as possible in a given day. As a result you may have to schedule several days in advance to see a Dr. (unless its an emergency). I have owned several animals in my years & have used several different Vets in the area. This is my favorite. I waited a year to write this review to make sure the service remained good & my opinion stayed the same.This would be 4-1/2 stars if Yelp would allow & 5 stars if I didn't have to wait a little too long each time I go there. However, once you see a vet, they will give you all the time you need without being rushed.

I have been going to Dr Walter for 12 years, and he has been the best vet I could ever dream of. He is extremely knowledgable, caring, and knows everything about my dog. I owe my dog's health to him, and have come to consider him a good friend. The appointments do tend to run long, but this a good thing. Dr Walter is so thorough that he wants to make sure all bases are covered, while having general concern for your well being also.Thank you Dr Walter for the tremendous service you have provided my dog and my family.

Both Dr. Elizabeth and Dr. Walter are amazing vets; they love our pets like they love their own. They are personable and really care. The wait is often long, but well worth it. I have been to other vets where I am made to feel like my dogs are just a number. These two vets, Ann (the amazing vet tech) and the staff are amazing. The prices are reaonable. These are most caring vets I have ever encountered. They call after appointments to make sure that our pets are doing great.

I was referred here by a coworker and this has to be the best vet I've ever been to. The last vet I had our cat with left a plastic thermometer cover in him after a surgery. Walter was great with our cat, and our cat was very comfortable with him as well. Usually he will hiss when picked up by strangers, but with Walter he was fine. They took the time to go over all my concerns and explain everything to me. The wait time wasn't bad at all. I arrived about 10 minutes before my appointment time and saw the doctor immediately. I think it just depends on who is there before you and what issues their pet is having. The office staff are wonderful also. I will be taking our cat back to this vet again.

Whilst the doctors & staff at Hickory Creek are friendly, professional and knowledgeable, their service is slow. When I called to make an appointment, I had to leave a message, and it took several hours to hear back. This has happened on several occasions. They do take their time with each patient, yet the other hand is that your appointment is always late. I've sat in the waiting room for an hour waiting for the Dr. to see my pet. They are often behind schedule.Great Drs, but leave lots of time for your appointment.

They definitley aren't in it for how many office visits they can squeeze in a day. They take time to talk to you, to get to know your pet - and sincerely care about what they're doing. The vets at Hickory Creek Animal Hospital allow 1/2 hour for each pet. They do a wonderful job of checking your pet out for everything. Very comprehensive, and are willing to work with those who do not want to go with the conventional vaccines and/or conventional feeding. Very easy to work with, and will work until they have found a cure for the disease or a remedy for bothersome symptoms. They really are super, and I have recommended all my friends to them.

I have no preference as to which of the doctors I get. They are both great and my dachshund loves them both. They are very caring and knowledgable and handle animals gently. The staff is also great and it is easy to get an appointment. Although I don't think price is important when caring for my pet I do believe their charges are more than fair. I don't know what else to say except I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else!

You cannot find a more caring or personable veterinarian! Dr. Walter spends time with you and truly cares about your pet. I have moved from the area, but continue to drive over an hour to see him because I know my dogs could not receive better(or even the same)care anywhere else. There are so many good things to mention, but the best was when Dr. Walter introduced me to an injection for my arthritic dogs that have helped them dramatically. I only wish I would have found him years ago! He's very personable and has a fun sense of humor. Dr. Elizabeth and the entire staff are all very nice!
