Last week Dr. Bleem and the hospital staff took exceptional care of my 4yo boxer who I was certain had a bowel obstruction and was destined for surgery. I'm new to the area and had yet to establish a relationship with a vet...better yet, it was 5pm when I made the call desperate for help. My Kreutz was in pain and I knew something was seriously wrong. Without hesitation Dr. Bleem offered to see my pup. I can't say enough about the entire staff...everyone was incredibly kind and professional and worked expeditiously to make my dog comfortable and accurately diagnose a nasty case of pancreatitis. Not only did everyone lovingly care for my pup, but they provided loving support for us as well...my tearful son didn't want to leave his buddy's side...the techs did a wonderful job distracting him. Kreutz is home, with strict dietary restrictions, and doing well thanks to Dr. Bleem and the Kruger team! We are so very grateful and blessed to have found such a wonderful group of people to care for our furry members of the family as they would care for their own pets. We've taken our dog here for years. In his old age, and with hip problems, we've warned them repeated to please be careful when clipping his paws as the last time we had him in there he came home very sore. Today after expressly telling Dr. Bleam that my dog was having severe pain and to be careful on his legs while he got his nails clipped, a bath and his regular shots they decided that it would be a good idea to take him outside to run with other dogs "three times"! When we picked up our dog he was hardly able to stand and Dr. Bleam says "well he hasn't been like this while he's been here. He was running outside 3 times today with other dogs and must have overdone it." This is the second time the dog has come home from the vet unable to walk and unable to get into the house after leaving the house in the morning in a comfortable condition. We were told the dog would be ready to pick up at 2:30pm after having arrived at 9am. Not only is this an unacceptable timeframe for the services being performed, we finally had to call to ask about the dogs status at 4pm after we had not been notified. Apparently they needed the extra time to ensure that my animal was injured through mistreatment before he was allowed to go home. After the blood results come back tomorrow morning confirming that we can indeed give him pain medications for his hip problems we will not be returning to Kruger Animal Hospital, and I would advise anyone who loves their pets to not use their services either. Edit: Changed from 1 star review. Dr. Bleam reached out and apologized profusely for the situation that occurred. Knowing that our animal was in his last few months we did return to Kruger Animal Hospital for pain medications and eventually to put the dog down. Dr. Bleam was especially caring and comforting when we had to put our animal down. He was accommodating to our needs through the process and reached out several times afterwards just to let us know that he was thinking of us and our dog. I hope that the changes they mentioned in their comments to my original review have been implemented and future pet owners have a caring experience as we did at the end. Read Less

This is definitely a different kind of vets office. I was skeptical at first because they do examine your dog "behind the scenes" but after working with the extremely helpful staff and having Dr. Bleem take care of my little pup throughout his first shots and neutering I love this animal hospital. I definitely recommend it. This is my first pup and I wanted to do everything right and I feel the staff does a good job of educating and making you feel confident in your pet's care. Read Less

I write this today heartbroken at the loss of our special dog, Walter. We brought him to Dr. Burk knowing something was off about him. The details are unimportant but what is important is that the level of care given to Walter and to us was exceptional. They are compassionate and kind. Professional, direct, and thorough. They listened to our concerns, addressed our needs, and were there for him when he passed. The entire team could not have been better. While we will miss our guy and we are hurting today, we know that they did EVERYTHING possible to save him and to comfort us along the way. Read Less

Dr. Bernard Bleem is an amazing veterinarian. He is honest, straightforward, caring, efficient, (and a little goofy!). My pet budgie fell very ill and Dr. Bleem recognized the severity of the illness. I was able to come in for a check up within minutes of calling the hospital for an appointment. The entire staff at Kruger is kind and they definitely care about the animals. As a broke college student, the staff helped me make sure I would not have to spend more than necessary on treatment for my pet. Highly recommend. I woke up this morning and my lizard had an obvious respiratory issue. I called them and they were completely booked (it was sat) but knew how serious it could be if I didn't not get him treated as soon as possible. They told me to come right up and they would squeeze me in between appointments. I saw Dr. Bleem who was very repectful and very considerate of my pet (sometimes exotic vets are not so polite). I really think this place could have saved my lizards life by getting him on medicine immediately. Read Less

I have previously raved about Dr Burk and the office support staff ; who are an amazing team of professionals but now I must share a little known secret...Kruger's groomer, Jennifer works absolute magic! We took our 1/2 Newfie 1/2 Old English Sheepdog, Bellah, in for 'Spa Day' on Valentine's Day. Bellah went in looking like a hot mess Phyllis Diller and came out looking like the Bell(ah) of the Ball! I had provided a rather long list of specific requests- eliminate her beard, facial needs, paw/nail specifics, etc. EVERY single detail was met with perfection. In addition, I'm not certain what shampoo/conditioner she was bathed in but she is amazingly soft and smells like a dream-NOT a perfume-like smell a clean, delicious smell!!! WOW! Kruger's is a phenomenal place where pet parents and their pets are treated with the highest level of professionalism and compassion that I have ever experienced. Thank you to everyone there that makes every experience a pleasure! P.S. Kruger Animal hospital and all of their staff are absolutely wonderful! Dr Bleem is amazing at the office and outside of it as well. He always checks in on the pets and if an emergency arises, no matter the day or time, he's there to help. If Dr Bleem is busy or out of the office, the other veterinarians are willing to take care of our fur babies and do an amazing job! The front office staff is amazing at rescheduling appointments or getting us in last minute. Every one of their staff members is kind and compassionate and love our pets as much as we do! I would not trust anyone else other than Dr. Bleem with my fur babies. I went to another vet clinic in 2006 to have my dogs teeth cleaned and he died. It goes to show who you can and cannot trust. We now live in Kentucky and come back to see family and of course bring ozzie for nail clipping and any thing else that he is in need of. I moved here for college and hadn't had to take my dog, Alice, to the vet in Normal yet. Alice had an emergency earlier today resulting in tracheal collapse. She's my little baby, so I was extremely panicked when I first arrived and handed her off to workers that I didn't even know. It was only a few minutes later when Dr. Bleem spoke to me about what was going on and the future steps that he would like to take. Dr. Bleem is absolutely incredible! He was very calm, reassuring, and informative. I was a little shaken to begin with, but felt much more comfortable knowing that Alice was in good hands. After multiple doctors called me stupid, un educated, labeling our fur baby as mean due to her breed and on going issues Dr.Bleem is the only one who cared to listen, not judge, show compassion, and seek results for our fur baby. Kruger Animal Hospital has been the best vets office I have ever been to. Everyone was always nice, friendly, helpful, and you could really tell they all enjoyed working there. I am currently moving to Colorado and am sad to have to leave them, it will be hard to find a vets office that does such a good job. I will be most sad to leave Dr. Bleem (and so will my cat Hamm) as he has made going to the vets office a fun experience for both me and my cat. I'm from out of town and took a friends animal in for a surgical follow-up appointment. The pet was taken from me by a vet tech and supposedly seen by the vet who then flew into my room (with two phone calls waiting for him) and proceeded to contradict himself on basic questions. At my usual vet in my home town, I am in the exam room with my pet and the vet. I ask questions and get thoughtful answers. This vet told me one thing then changed his mind. 5 stars for Diane the groomer!!!i Have two mini schnauzers - 5 years old. girl and boy. never been able to find a groomer that gets it right.  my boy Scout gets matted something horrid, and always has to be completely shaved off at least 2x a year.  Diane, actually was able to save him this time.  left a little bit of skirt, and beard and made him look good... and my girl, even though she's not that difficult to groom no one got it right till now. she finally is my pretty lily again, perfectly groomed.
