Dr. TAB is wonderful. Dr. Brooks we were not fans of. We adopted a puppy (Black Lab, 8 weeks) from Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin, IL in 2016, and decided to try Fox Valley Veterinary Clinic since we live in North Aurora. Our dog has a sensitive stomach and can only tolerate certain forms of protein (no beef or pork). When we were trying to determine what the issue was (food sensitivity, GI track, Giardia, etc.), we took our dog in to get an examination and doctor opinion/guidance. Instead of addressing our concerns, Dr. Brooks proceeded to lecture us on how our puppy was overweight, how Americans eat too much, and how they feed their pets too much. Neither my spouse, nor I, are overweight, so I was perplexed by this conversation. Not once did he make any recommendations on what to do with tests or trial-and-error options with food. I left that appointment with no answers or guidance. Instead, we sought medical advice elsewhere. When we adopted our dog, he was the largest puppy in the litter. He is now 14 months old and weighs ~75 lbs (Black Lab). We have tried TWO other veterinary hospitals in our area since, and all of the doctors we have met have said we are doing a great job and that his weight is perfect (all during the course of his first year of life). Ultimately, we have decided to remain patients of the VCA in Aurora. All of the doctors there addressed our concerns and performed the necessary tests required to diagnose our dog's sensitivities. I had a great 3 1/2 years with Fox Valley Vet. They took really good care of Riley and helped with the most difficult decision I had to make. Through out the years I got to know them and can truly say without any hesitation that everyone that works there really cares and always going out of there way. my 7 month old dog was hit by a car. my neighbors brought my dog to their vet because i was at work during the incident. The day after i brought her to my vet (fox valley vet). original vet (my neighbors) stated she would need daily bandage changing, for about a week. My vet stated the same thing. first issue: original vet charged 45 dollars, roughly, to change bandage. fox valley charged 177. you decide! second issue: original vet told me what to expect over the next couple of weeks and she explained what should happen daily over that time period. She prescribed some meds for pain. My vet on day two said i needed additional pain meds. apparently because first vet didn't know what she was doing! When i questioned the extra meds the receptionist, brittany, got upset and told the two doctors i was being "unreasonable". i am not writing her exact words because i didn't hear exactly what she went and told the doctors. what i do know is that i was pulled into a room and treated like a child by a Dr. Tab (big guy). He loomed over me and shook his finger in my face and said i needed to understand my dogs pain. From the beginning i had stated i could not stay because i needed to be at work, something they couldn't understand. I must have said it like 10 times, i need to go to work and you call me when you are finished. i even had someone with me who was going to stay for me and bring my dog home. Well they kept me there the whole time, extra in fact. They did not see that my biggest issue was the need to be at work but harped on the fact that i mentioned the pain meds as being unnecessary. The previous vet said my dog had all the pain meds she needed and when they ran out she wouldn't need them anymore. Fox Valley stated she needed additional pain meds because during the bandage changing she tried to bite them and was in pain. When we arrived she wasn't in pain! So how would the added expense change that pain factor after we got home and her bandages weren't being messed with? which is why i questioned them about that expense. 177 dollars to change some bandages? and being treated like i am insensitive? they tried to take advantage of the situation and when caught became hostile and unprofessional. never going there and i would recommend you stay away too. Also my dog is a pure German Sheppard, from day one they REALLY tried pushing me to have her fixed. i should have gotten a mutt for FREE instead of a pure bred. They PUSH things onto you and then try to make you feel bad about your choice. Must be hard up for money? i would suggest treating customers better then money won't be an issue! after reading the "nice" reviews you will notice a trend. if you go to this vet the reviewers have the same names as the staff. We have lost my husband's pension to save this house...But today I got the evil eye, and rude comments, because my 10 year old has bad teeth. His answer was..."But you still have a dog". We have had Dr. Thomas Brooks for three of our dogs since 1990. Dr. Brooks and his staff are so caring towards the animals and their humans! :) Dr. Brooks does not do any unnecessary work on the dogs only if they actually need it. Even when there are emergencies, they always find time to help out. When we had to put one of our dogs down, the nurse came in the room and hugged us before we left. They felt the pain we were feeling. Their pricing is very competitive to other clinics. Our dogs have all loved Dr. Brooks. Can't say enough good things about him and his son Dr. Tab. Use this place if you enjoy being discriminated. Accused of giving your pet narcotics. Along with having the staff make rude comments on your appearance. After over 10 years of using Dr. Whitney as my vet, and only Dr. Whitney because they other Vet was often rude and not caring, I was asked by the rude vet to find another vet recently when calling to get my cat in for a bad ear infection. Why you ask? because in 2012 I missed a couple of appointments. I offered at those times to pay for the missed appointments, multiple times and was told no. After those missed appointments under the assumption that I did all I could to resolve the situation I had gone to this place many more times without any problems aside from when the staff made comments of how I looked. Dr. Whitney is great and I was willing to tolerate some BS from staff because I trust him with my pets. Though for some reason years later, those missed appointments came back as a reason to have to find a new vet.Read Less

Humiliated me, different vets for my dog, no compassion towards my dog or my family. Was told they would call at noon for update on surgery; then I was to call at 4:30 pm to get a pickup time. It was as if they had no idea what was going on. I was then told surgery was more than expected. Call again at 4:30 pm and pick her up at 5:00 pm.Finally a vet called me, saying it's best she stays overnight because of additional anesthesia given. I asked if she would have a Dr. or technician with her. No we aren't a 24/7 clinic; vet said I live close in case. I said no, I want her to come home. AWFUL! Read Less
