Save yourself some time, money, and stress. This place wants to milk you for money if you've got a terminally ill pet. I had been taking my dogs there since I've had them. When my 4 year old dog got sick, they did studies, did some x-rays, suggested I buy him expensive food (I did), did some blood work, gave him a large quantity of medication, drained fluid from his stomach, did some more x-rays, suggested I do some more studies, etc etc. All of this while knowing my dog would die very soon. I'm damn sure they knew he had cancer as soon as they saw how bad he was doing. They didn't even bother to inform me that the fluid they drained from his stomach could be tested for cancer. I'm not a Vet so I didn't even know that there was a machine you can put fluid samples in and it'll show if your dog has cancer. As soon as they saw that the fluid they drained had blood in it, they should have told me he had cancer. The doctor kept giving me false hope and telling me it could be 50/50 cancer or a variety of many other illnesses. Why give someone hope if you know the animal will die soon? Oh yeah to milk them for money because they saw I was willing to spend a lot of money to make my dog well again. Of course there was nothing I could have done to save his life. But at the very least they could have stopped giving me false hope and suggesting I spend more money on useless tests and treatments. I went to an animal hospital in Schiller Park to put my dog to rest a week after my last visit in Northlake. After the doctors at Northlake had sold me 2 weeks worth of medication, my dog didn't live to take the 2 weeks worth of medication. The doctor at the Schiller Park animal hospital was very kind and caring. If you want to go somewhere that's less expensive and has staff that truly do care, I'd definitely suggest the Schiller Park animal hospital, that's where I'll be taking my other dog from now on. I have to echo other reviews. Great doctors and great care. Thorough, the send reminders for all appts., needed vaccinations, etc. Only negative is that the check out area is often chaotic: A lot of people back there but it's poorly managed. I've had to wait (max was just under 20 minutes) to pay at the end of a visit, not good if you are in a hurry. Read Less

They've seen my baby since she was 4 months old and traumatized from a nail cutting she got from the "Breeder" before she was mine, I ended up putting her on doggie sedatives for about half a year and then she actually got way better with north lakes staff- they're super nice and sweet about it and try their hardest to get them done super quick and pain free for our fur babies. Needless to say my dog doesn't need sedatives anymore for nail trims! They're always on top of their files I can call and get a copy of something of my dogs from the time I started going there if I ever needed to get paperwork it's super easy! They're upfront about how the industry is and everything which is rare to find and also it's always the same staff! So everything becomes super personal- I walk in with a smile on my face to see familiar faces my dog might not feel the same :p Read Less

Great doctors especially Dr Obrien, was really helpful and followed up with our 15 year old dog that had cancer. She was honest about the prognosis and did not try and push services or surgeries. We have another dog and wouldnt think to take her anywhere else but here. Staff is great and you can tell everyone there loves animals. Keep up the great work. Read Less

Great staff but sloooow. CONS- 20min wait btwn tasks. 20 min in waiting room, 20 min wait for the nurse, 20 min wait for the dr, 20 min wait for the next step (shots, meds, etc) 20min or more to check out. Expect at least 2hrs for any kind of visit. :/ Pro = Love the Dr's. They really care about their patients & follow up quickly. They are very experienced and knowledgeable. Read Less

Excellent veternary care. The staff is all very courteous, helpful, and knowledge. It is a busy clinic. Checking out and getting prescriptions filled can add approximately 15 minutes to the visit, which is well worth my animals receiving the best attention. Read Less

This is a caring animal hospital except it is so overwhelmed by the amount of patients, sometimes the waiting time is REALLY bad. The staff is wonderful. The doctors (2 that i know of) are excellent. The facilities are just ok; could use some updating. I have been going there for a long time and besides the extreme waiting time, maybe the prices are a tad bit high; but most places are the same or higher. So what are you going to do? Throughout my life, I've had many pets and had experience with a multitude of veterinarians. When it comes to one of my pets, exceptional care is of the utmost importance to me because each pet is literally a piece of my heart. Each visit and interaction that I have had with every staff member at Northlake Animal Hospital has exceeded my every expectation of a high quality veternarian. The staff is so kind and compassionate. They treat my pets with the same love I would. Unfortunately, Dr. O'Brien recently diagnosed my cat with a terminal illness. My heart was just broken and I was in shock. She couldn't have been more patient and compassionate with me as she gave me instructions on how to best care for my kitty at home. In addition, she encouraged me to phone her anytime with questions and returned my calls expeditiously when I did have them. Dr. O'Brien also educated me on all my options and respected my decisions. Whenever I take a sick cat or dog in, I am vulnerable because I would do anything for my animals; they're a part of the family. With all of my pets, Northlake Animal Hospital always treats them to the best of their ability and I don't feel they take advantage of me during those weak times as other vets can do.They provide excellent medical care and don't suggest tests that aren't necessary. We absolutely love all the doctors, but the nursing and support staff are the reasons we keep coming back. We have a rescue pit bull and we love that he gets treated with respect and no prejudgment every time we come. We love NAH and our pit does too.Read Less

This Vet misdiagnosed my dog, turning out that he had cancer that spread to all his organs. May of been caught and saved him if this vet did their job. I paid for X-Rays that they couldn't produce when I wanted copies of them, they never took them! Very shady vet and I can't believe they have any good reviews. Very disrespectful of YOUR time. Waits are ridiculous. I had to wait 45 minutes for a blood draw done by a Tech. A woman was there with a bleeding dog that had been attacked and she waited longer than I did. The Techs. are rude and the Vets are slow; One of them missed a obvious medical issue with my dog that another Vet caught in 2 minutes. Don't bother with them, they don't appreciate your business and you'll be there all day! Read Less

The Vets here are great....very experienced and they spend a good chunk of time with your animal. The customer service by ancillary staff is HORRIBLE! Expect to be ignored! And don't bother calling them...you'll be on hold for over 10 minutes and then you'll be LUCKY if they call you back. If your dog or cat has an appointment you're going to need at least 2 hours because the wait is ridiculous. Read Less
