We have been going to Petvets Animal Hospital for a few years now, sadly with a fairly sick dog. We recently had to go out of the state for an extended period of time so had to take our dog to another vet. We were very surprised to learn that they do not do specialized treatments (like Dr. Cidon and her staff do) unless you go to a specialty hospital. Our dog was going through chemotherapy and the treatments were much more economical and efficient at Petvets (we didn't have to wait for hours for results like we did out of state). I am so amazed by the level of expertize as well as knowledge with Dr. Cidon and her staff. She has a great understanding of illness and animals! They will be our lifelong vet for many pets to come. Way far more expensive! Buy your pet's medications elsewhere especially. Very disappointed about having to pay more than other places that are just as competant. Probably the best service to pets I've ever seen. You can tell all the staff actually cares about the well being about your pet. It's a great state of the art facility with very little they can't do in house. It's also great that I can trust any vet there with my dog because he doesn't get sick on a schedule. I have seven Foster cats and two dogs, and I've been going to this place for a couple years now. I've seen probably every vet that they have and I've never had a really bad experience. What I find to be extra special and totally amazing about this vet, is that they offer 50% discount on vet bills for legitimate non-profit rescues. It's very difficult to find this nowadays! My first experience was a year ago when I had to put my beloved pet to sleep. The staff was extremely considerate and helped me through that process. Dr. Cidon has always been very patient with our temperamental chihuahua, who needs understanding for her anxiety disorder.  Dr. Cidon is able to draw blood, do vaccinations, and other tasks that usually throw our little dog into a fit of violence.Staff is helpful, and facility is clean. Read Less

We switched to PetVets for our 4 pets from another Oak Park animal hospital that we found to require excessive amounts of testing and lab work. We have seen multiple doctors and all have been friendly, helpful, and explicit in their diagnoses/explanations while not being pushy.The front desk staff and vet techs are also always pleasant and helpful. The facilities are beautiful. If you have a nervous cat, they actually have towels that have a calming scent on them that you can put in the cat's cage. When our beloved German Shepherd unexpectedly had to be euthanized and we were devastated, Dr. Cidon and her staff were incredibly supportive and sensitive to our grief. Then when we went back with our new puppy, she stopped in to cuddle our new baby and I truly felt like she and the staff were invested in our pets and in us as clients. Read Less

My dog Coco was previously misdiagnosed by another vet with a heart condition. Unfortunately, this turned out to not be the case. When I brought her in thinking it was her heart meds causing a problem it turned out Instead that she was in severe diabetic crisis and in such bad shape that she almost died. Dr. Frye properly diagnosed her diabetes and immediately got to work on this poor girl. Fast forward 4 days and she comes home. Fast forward a week and she's and playing with my other dogs. If not for pet vets and Dr. Frye I don't believe she would have been diagnosed properly and would not have survived. She literally saved her life. I am so grateful for the team that took care of her. Wow, every time I come here, I'm so impressed. From the moment you call on the phone to make an appointment, everyone is a joy. And I've called multiple times and talked with various  techs/receptionists. The facility itself is so clean and modern. When I first walked in, I was expecting to pay an arm and a leg, like I have at other vets that weren't nearly as nice. But no, they provide you upfront with prices for all of their services. No surprises here. Each vet/vet tech that has taken care of my pooch is SO nice and knowlegable. You know they're swamped, but they never treat you like. I took my pup in for a routine procedure, and one of the vets sat with us for a few minutes, just getting to know my dog so he wasn't nervous. We have been bringing our cat and dog to PetVets over ten years. They are kind, compassionate and professional. The Vet Technicians are well trained and very competent. PetVets has the utmost concern for our animals and is always available by phone or by appointment to help us. We have been going to this vet from when our shihztu poodle was a puppy. He is now 14yrs old. All vets have been knowledgable and kind. They were particularly there for us when he was badly bitten 3 years ago. His care at a weekend emergency clinic was poor. Only half of the injuries to his muzzle were stitched! He was bandaged so we were unaware. During the follow up visit at Pet vets 2 days later, they immediately repaired all of his injuries then advocated for us with the other clinic resulting in all fees being refunded and the incident being brought to the staff doctor's attention by their director. Hopefully this led to this kind of negligence not happening to other animals. I have many friends who have also used Petvets for years. One described how they came to her home when her Newfoundland needed euthanized due to illness, pain and age. I started going to this practice many years ago with my first dog after having problems with the previous vet clinic I was going to. they really did a great job with my dog. After that, I have also taken my cat there since he was a kitten, and now my second dog. I moved to the city but still love this practice and continue to go here. I tried a few city vets but was not happy with the care. I had some issues with my dog, she was annoying my neighbor's howling when I was away at work. Dr Cidon spent an hour or more on a behavioral appointment and was able to have me understand the situation more. My dog has leveled out more thanks to her! I didn't want my dog to have separation anxiety. She was very thorough in the hour long visit. The Vets and staff are really top notch.  They are always there to help what ever the situation is, even over the phone! They love animals as much as you love your pets. I have been going to this vet for over 15 years,  The kindness and care all of my pets have received has been extraordinary. I recommend them all the time I even keep an extra business card of theirs in my purse if asked about my vet. The Vets who have taken care of my cat, Cleo have been compassionate, and knowledgeable. We haven't had any problems with this hospital, and we have been going here from when Cleo was a couple months old. Cleo is now 10 years old, and I was told she has a mild heart murmur. The Vet explained to me what that meant, and she gave me some suggestions for what to look for to care for Cleo. Also she was able to answer all my questions. I have been taking my puppy to Pets Vets for the past 2 months. On the second visit they told me he had Giardia and that it was no big deal and to come in and get a prescription. There was no follow up planned and no information given to me other than give him the medicine for 7days. On the 7th day I called to ask a few questions and nobody could answer them. The lady on the phone seemed confused by what I was asking. She told me someone would call back and I never received a call. I tried calling back but there was no answer. I spoke to a vet at VCA and they told me I should have been keeping my dog away from other pets along with a bunch of other precautionary things I should be doing while he was sick. Pet Vets never gave me any information at all, my dog has been around about 10 other dogs in this time. Now all of those dogs need to be stool sampled and I'm the dog owner who's at the bottom of it all. I will never go to Pet Vets again and I suggest you don't either! Read Less

Unbelievably expensive! I also believe that they took advantage of our situation where our dog cut the skin of another dog knowing that we will reimburse the owner the cost of the vet bill. $1700 for stitches which they called "MAJOR SURGICAL PROCEDURE" which by the way lasted 45 minutes and the dog was back with his owner in less than 2 hours. You don't have to rip people off to help pay your business bills. Read Less

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!Our entire family has been going here for over a decade and are always pleased with the end result. A special shout out to Dr. Cidon, she is outstanding!!! In fact we will work our schedule around hers in order to make sure that we see her but we really do not have to since she has such convenient and accommodating hours that's it's incredibly easy to see her no matter what your schedule is. The practice is well versed with any animal and you can bet on it that your furry baby will always be very well taken care of here. We recently moved and had gone to a different vets office simply due to the convenience of how close they were to our new home. However we have now switched back to Pet Vets Animal Hospital and are driving out of our way to go there since we did not get the same attention that we do with Pet Vets at the new vet. I started going to Pet Vets when my family's wheaton terriers needed dental work. The staff were compassionate and did a wonderful job. When I got married and my husband wanted a puppy, I knew immediately who I'd be trusting to care for him.Tug the pug is now 6 1/2 and has been lovingly cared for by the doctors and techs at Pet Vets. I drive an hour or more one way, and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.  The staff make Tug feel like a rock star. We have been seen by most of the doctors, including the owner, Dr. Cidon. She and the other doctors have always been kind, considerate, and consistent, making sure that I understand everything they're doing. As if that isn't enough, the techs, like Tugs favorites Nicole and Genevieve, are friendly and display a great deal of knowledge as well. Short version: The office ran additional blood work on a followup appointment without discussing anything with us. It did not appear on our final bill. Several weeks later, we received a bill in the mail for the work. We've been trying to contact the owner, Dr. Cidon, since NOVEMBER to discuss this (3 months at the time I'm posting this). She has failed to return ANY of our calls. Additionally, us receiving a bill several weeks down the line directly contradicts what's clearly stated on their website about all charges taking place at the time of service, and no bills are sent out. Full Version: We took our dog here in November after several days of diarrhea. On our first visit, blood work was performed to see anything was out of the ordinary. Approximately a week later, on a follow-up, an ultrasound was run to check his liver. After this, we paid for the ultrasound and visit (~$300), which should have included everything done. Several weeks later, we received a bill in the mail for additional blood work that was run at the time of the ultrasound, which had not been on our bill paid at the office, and had never been discussed with us. Since then, we have repeatedly reached out to them to discuss this. Every time we call, we're told to leave a message for Dr. Sherman and that she'll call us back when she has an opportunity. They LOVE my dog here and always throw in extra nail clippings for free. Just as expensive as most VET places but I try to keep as local as possible. Parking is on the street and right by a major light so may be difficult. I would recommend to a friend for sure! Read Less
