Always took my dog for all his shots, but one time I took him for a toe infection, they told me he was fine. Went 2 times after for the same thing and they told me he was healing properly. Decided to go somewhere else and my poor baby had to have his toe amputated. It was a nightmare! Read Less

I have been taking my dog here for 13 1/2 years. I have been very happy with the care I have received. Dr. Porcelli is the vet my dog sees. He has been awesome with her and always gives a detailed explanation of what is going on with her. He has even consulted with a specialist at Purdue University in order to avoid a surgery and and recommended a course of treatment that did in fact help us to avoid a surgery. I have also had other AMC vets see my dog when I needed an appointment when Dr. Porcelli was not available, and they were always very helpful and very good with us. The staff at the front desk when I have called with questions have always answered questions I had with concern and compassion and would check with a doctor when they needed to. I feel that after 13 1/2 years and no problems whatsoever this veterinary clinic has definitely earned my trust! Also, I have always appreciated Dr. Porcelli's warmth and compassion and interest in my dog. He has always spent all the time I needed answering questions! Read Less

I was going to leave my dog here for a few days while I went on vacation. Since this was the first time I had to leave my dogs I asked my girlfriend to check the place out. She said that when she got there the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. She asked to see the boarding area and the first thing she noticed was that the kennels were in poor condition, completely run down with algae growing on the cage walls, water dripping from cracks in the wall, multiple cages were broken and it was extremely hot. To the owner of the clinic and management, the clinic needs some major updates and the staff needs training on professionalism. So long story short if you are planning on leaving your dogs here, DO NOT! Unless you really hate your dog. This clinic is lucky to be getting a star because if I could I wouldn’t give them any. My Original Review: Let me just say this one thing and if this doesn't make you NEVER want to bring your pet back again, than you are crazy. My dog was shaking UNCONTROLLABLY and throwing up all over. I rushed her in, and the vet said she was just dehydrated. She injected her in her back with fluids and we walked out of there with half a camel, half a dog. 2 hours later and she is still shaking uncontrollably (which isn't like my dog, when I say she is tough, SHE IS TOUGH!) I took her to an emergency vet who diagnosed her with PNEUMONIA!!!! And to make it even worse, they said by the looks of her chest xray, it appears she has had it for AT LEAST 3 MONTHS!!! Might I add, she had several visits to this vet within those 3 months because she was a puppy at the time and was in for a few check ups and a recent spay. JUST PITIFUL!! I don't care how many people had great experiences here. It only takes ONE BAD EXPERIENCE for it to be YOUR pet! ***MY RESPONSE *** 3/23/18 You did know of our dissatisfaction. In fact, we opened a case and got a full refund from that visit. That does not justify what happened to my dog. I was also told at the visit that she was COMPLETELY FINE, just dehydrated and if she HAPPENED to worsen, to take her to the emergency room. The only reason she got spayed at your clinic was because the place where we got her from gave us 50% off her spay if we ONLY went to your clinic. And the spay actually ended up being free because of the mistake that was made. The exact reason why you never saw us again is because she was there for many many visits, check ups, and puppy shots as you can see in your records and yet none of your vets ever found out she had pneumonia the ENTIRE time. Businesses need to start speaking up when they are irresponsible instead of trying to fight it every time. What actions were taken in your clinic over this slip up? That's what improves a business and keeps customers walking in the door without having to rely on reviews and having to fight the bad ones.... They not only misdiagnosed my dog several times for pneumonia but they left her wreaking of urine and starving (she was just a puppy so one day of her not eating and her bones were popping out) when she got spayed. I would never recommend this place to anyone. We had to take her to the emergency vet that night because she was still shaking and they said that their X-ray's didn't go high enough on her lungs to see the that is was clearly pneumonia. Pitiful ...you may think this will never happen to you if you never had a bad experience but like I said she was there several times and they couldn't figure it out. Ive been coming here for over 10 years with all of my dogs and cats. I have always received a friends and family discount due to some work that was done for the place. I have NEVER gone in there and not had an issue with this. It took me an hour to pick up my cats because instead of helping me the staff was helping everyone behind me because i was an inconvenience. Dr porcelli has been our vet forever and i will say we will not be bringing any of our animals back here after he acted like he didnt know who my family or my animals were. Even after he has recently seen them. Its sad honestly because he is a great vet but the service at this facility is horrible and its overpriced and i would rather take my animals to an animal welfare than back here. Read Less

I am extremely thankful for Dr. Lantow and his team for taking great care of Leo Santana. When I took Leo in he was very hypoglycemic due to him not wanting to eat. Dr. Lantow and his team made it a mission to find food that Leo Would like & after 2 weeks of intensive care and trying different foods They found Leo’s favorite food and for that I am very grateful without them Leo wouldn’t be the joyful and happy puppy that he is now. I was really disappointed about that place.I have little chihuahua she did eat big cook bone they knew that she have no chance to survive they didn't let me know that , they charged for the surgery didn't call to let me kno after ,and after they cremated put wrong date on certificate of cremation it should be 1/3/17 they put on 1/3/14. Been bringing my dogs here for years and I absolutely love it can't see myself going anywhere else. The assistants are good most of the time some need to smile a bit more but overall it's a great please. My dog was vaccinated at the clinic and got sick. I took him back 8 days later due to the holiday and they told me he got into cleaning supplies or something. I advised them no cleaners was in room where dog was housed. Paid another 223 bucks for them to check him and verify what I already knew. His blood work was good and he was dehydrated. After two days dog was still not eating and they told me it could not be due to vaccinations and I would need to pay again. Unbelievable If you care about your pets this is not the place to go! The veterinarians are wonderful, I have 4 pets and I think I've dealt with 3 different vets there and each have been really great to me and all my animals. I will continue coming here for them and them only.The receptionists need a little crash course in customer service - maybe 1 or 2 of them (the younger ones) are actually kind, but unfortunately the rest are not so nice. I caught 2 of them openly having a disagreement in front of customers. They don't always look you in the eye when talking directly to you nor do they throw smiles your way as if they are somewhat happy to be of service to you. Recap: great vets, nice decor, smells as clean as a vets office can smell, no-so-great receptionists. - Overall, I'd say the vets are worth coming back every time! Read Less

Absolutely love taking my animals here.  The building is very clean and seems to be recently remodeled. Just wish the seating arrangements were more abundant and more comfortable.  The staff is friendly to my animals and I.  The doctors are very through with what is wrong with your pet/how to make things better or if they are in great health for a checkup.  It can tend to be a little pricy, but I am willing to pay for the service to help my pets and to never again go to the animal shelter in Chicago Ridge. I am so glad to find this medical center and will bring all my future pets here. Read Less

I switched to this practice after having to leave a very good one in Tinley that I found to be too cramped, noisy, and having inconvenient hours with longer appointment scheduling windows.  I have been very pleased with AMC ever since.  The waiting room is spacious so you can separate your dog from others in the waiting area, which is super-important if you have a nervous guy like mine.  When I call to make an appointment, they can usually see me right away or a couple of hours later at the most - I don't have to keep trying for different days of the week, and they don't close randomly in the afternoon like my former practice did.After a couple of less-than-pleasant experiences with pet sitters, I reluctantly boarded two of my dogs there during a recent two-week vacation.  I was very concerned that my guys would be upset and worried that they were not at home but, when I picked them up, they couldn't have been happier!  I could tell that they had received a lot of love and attention.  I will bring all my pets here-even the cat- from now on. The place is all about the money trying to get me to get ALL kinds of shots for my dog when only rabies is required by law.  I do not have to get the others and It's my choice. Then they try to persuade you otherwise. I have studied over the last 10 years the bads about vaccines and they don;t even protect your pets. They cause more damage in the long run and booster shots are NEVER necessary unless required by law. The only reason they do boosters is because they can;t be sure the animal is actually immunized so what does that tell you.  Another problem is the Doctor forget to check my cats ears an when I got home her one ear was itchy and when i looked inside it was all brown.  I had to drive another 45mins each way to bring her back and they had the nerve to charge me another $53 for an office exam? WHY? I already paid and was inconvenienced because the Dr missed looking into the ear. It was just dirt he said and told me how to clean it. Really I cam all the way back and you can;t even clean it quickly?  I would not recommend this place plus the receptionists are rude. Read Less

I LOVE this place.  I have been to many vets since being a pet owner since I was a kid, and these Doctors are hands down the best.  They actually care more about the animals then the money.  My cat Wrigley had a cat version of a yeast infection, and I was a mess.  They could of easily been crooks and say I needed this test and that test but they calmed me down and just gave her a shot of antibiotics.  I was even asking if she needed cultures and blood work done.  He assured me and I got out of there spending only 82 bucks and my kitty was better in a couple days.  The entire staff there is the best.  Sure there are a couple young receptionist, but I would take passionate, phenomenal doctors that are fantastic with my animals, and give breaks on cost, then worry about the receptionists like the last review I read.  Shame on any one who doesn't give credit were credit is due and not give this place 5 stars!  I will never bring my babies any where else. Lady you are nuts to give this place 1 star over the receptionists. How about rating how awesome the doctors are here? They take PHENOMENAL care of my kitties. I will never go to another vet. These doctors take pride in their work, and offer good rates. I had to get 2 cats fixed and they even worked out a payment plan with me. That is unheard of in a vets office! People tend not to think of how much a pet is going to cost before they get them. Having pets is like having kids. They are an expense. I give this place 5 stars all around. I have had countless problems with these people from the groomers to the receptionist the receptionist are extremely rude I took my dog maxx there for the last time yesterday this is the second time blood vessels have broken in his eye they make me pay extra for a tranquilizer and they still can't get his grooming right I have a miniature schnauzer that now looks like a mixture of a chiuaua and german shepard thanks to the bad grooming no one apologized for the mistakes they made they claim the manager was gone for the day and that the groomer had already left I feel my dog was mistreated he was shaking like crazy and very scared when I finally did see my dog it was like he had been rescued.My husband called back to speak with a manager and ended up arguing with receptionist and still spoke with no manager instead the receptionist told him she does'nt get paid enough for this and why do we keep bringing him there.They will not get the opportunity to mistreat my dog again there is no compassion at this place at all.I agree with Dianna x they don't even deser a star at all. There's a doctor or two that knows what they're doing, but when my dog went to this facility to get neutered he came home looking like he got a back alley operation. I took my first dog to a vet on Wolf Road and he came home without any swelling or redness, and didn't have to go back to get any stitches removed. Animal medical center did not give me any options for the surgery, including what type of sutures I wanted. My dog looks like he still has one testicle because of the amount of swelling, and he looks like he has 3 zip ties on his shaft barely holding the incision they made together. It cost the same amount for both places too, so it's not that I got what I paid for. Read Less

I have been taking my animals here for awhile now. Everytime I come in, the receptionists act like I am not there. I have had to go up to the desk and ask If someone can help me. It might look like they are doing something, but if they cannot help clients, maybe they should hire more staff to help. Also, since they still use the paper charts, they always have a hard time finding mine. This happens almost evey time I come in. They ask well is it under a different last name? Iv'e been coming here for 5 years and nothing has changed. These girls that are hired do need better training, not client friendly at all. I'm not sure if they are unhappy with their job/pay/clients, but they should really learn how to deal with customers that pay towards their business. I know this is an ongoing problem for a lot of people and it really should be fixed. Dr. Lantow may start to lose clients from the poor staffing, lack of customer service, and even the prices. These prices are just so hard to keep up with anymore, that is why I can only get the rabies. I know my dog should be protected against more, but these prices just keep getting higher and higher. I have taken my 3 dogs to this center for over 15 years. I must start by saying that the doctors here are great; if you can withstand the completely unprofessional front desk receptionists. They really are about the WORST receptionists I have encountered at ANY medical office. I have had countless problems with them ( too many to list!). They've given me the wrong prescriptions, messed up paperwork and even given me the wrong county tags for my dogs. They are never apologetic about their mistakes, and have complete attitude ( including slamming down paperwork on the desk when a request to correct their mistake is made!).  It's becoming more and more clear most of them are not trained well in how to deal with the public at all! If the doctors were not so great, I would without doubt find a new place to take my dogs. I'd give the doctors five stars if I could. But the desk help? not even one star!! Read Less
