I am always pleased with my visits to see Dr Dimperio. She loves the animals she doctors and they love her. (and the staff are caring and kind) My only wish is that Dr could be cloned since she is the only doctor there so you may have to wait a while. This is also a good thing because she gives you all the time your pets need, too. 🤗 She answers all of my "nervous doggymama " questions and calls me with the test results. I hope she never retires. Also, there is a big parking lot with a grassy area and you could stay out there if your dogs are freakin out waiting inside. Read Less

HONESTLY THE BEST. To start off, yes I agree that the wait time can be a little long and the cost is definitely expensive. But I have not met a better vet than Dr. Dimperio. She is seriously amazing, reassuring, kind, patient, and caring. I live all the way in the middle of Chicago yet make the 30 minute drive out to Park Ridge because I have yet to meet a more caring vet. I had been going to the Banfield Animal Hospital at PetSmarts for the sake of convenience and always felt that they only saw my dog as profit. There, I also noticed that vets switched around, which made the whole experience very impersonal. Park Ridge Animal Hospital is the epitome of personal. Coming to Park Ridge Animal Hospital means that you'll always know that Dr. Dimperio will be the one taking care of your furry family member. Dr. Dimperio always remembers our family's name and everything about my dog's previous health issues. Dr. Dimperio is also one of the most accessible vets ever. She makes sure to call me about my dog even when the animal hospital is closed and always walks into the exam room with a smile on her face. I cannot count the times that I've seen her still working with her patients even an hour after the animal hospital's closing time. She puts so much care and effort into every single animal she sees that the wait time is completely understandable. You will not only be placing the care of your best friend in the hands of an extremely qualified vet but a caring and unbelievably nice person. Read Less

When I needed to change vets, I was concerned about being able to find a place that cared for animals and didn't just see them as $ signs. We took a chance and haven't looked back. Everyone here is so lovely, caring and compassionate. Yes, she may get busy and sometimes you may need to wait... but honestly, what pet owner can't understand there may be another pet owner there going through something unexpected and heartbreaking that delays things? That's exactly why I don't mind waiting... I've been on the personal end of those heartbreaking moments. At the of the day, what matters the most is that you leave her office feeling that your furry family member is in good hands and cared for. Read Less

Our 3 dogs have been patients at PRAH for almost 3 years, but we are moving on.  It was a hard decision.  The people are friendly and helpful and the Doctor is caring and generally does a good job, but I've always found them to be over-priced.  Costs have been getting worse and worse.  For example, medications - Heartgard $9.50/chew, Proin $39.00/bottle of 60-25mg tabs.  I just called around to the other highly Yelp rated local vets and they charge $5.95/chew and $26.23 for the same bottle of Proin.  Charging 30% or more than other vets for MEDS just seems wrong.  I can understand charging more for care itself, but medication should not vary to this degree.  X-rays and lab tests are also very high in price. In the past year, I've found the wait times to be unacceptable, typically 30-60 minutes past our appointment time before we're seen.  This is very frustrating when you have dogs who are anxious about being at the vet in the first place. Our family appreciates the efforts and care of Dr. Dimperio and staff over the years. What an absolute joke of an animal hospital. This was my first visit and after waiting 45 minutes in the room for the doctor someone finally comes in to tell me that they're very busy. After waiting another 20 minutes I finally decide it's time to leave. When I walked out to the reception desk they ask "oh do you have to leave" ? My response was to explain to them how I've been waiting for over an hour without any explanation and/or apology for the delay. So with the doctor standing at the desk looking at me, not responding, I let them know my displeasure about their terrible service and walked out the door. Here is a tip for you Park Ridge Animal Hospital: you are not the only busy people in the world. So when a client's time is being wasted by you....the least you could do is offer an apology. Read Less

I am new to IL and living in Des Plaines.  I took my 10yr old Golden retriever/lab to the vet to have a lump looked at. First visit was fine, the doctor was very friendly with my dog, and very knowledgeable.  It was very pricey, but I went with it to ensure the health of my pet.I called back to get a estimate to having the cyst removed, and the front desk was very uneducated with information for me.  I told her that I was not going to spend $1000's of dollars on a surgery without more of a breakdown to the cost.  She took my name and number and told me that the vet would call me back with this information.  That was OVER A WEEK AGO.I will be taking my dog, and money elsewhere! I felt they were extremely compassionate, caring, and genuinely trying to give the best care to both of my elderly cats.  The one had a sudden stroke, and they were so good about calling with updates on her condition and caring for her until she passed away a few days later.  The other cat was a patient of another, awful vet, who I had transferred over here. They gave him at least another 3 months quality of life by taking him off the previously prescribed medications that were making his condition worse.  Everything was always explained in patient, careful detail, and every option provided to me I felt was made with his best interests at heart. When he passed away in July, you could see how very sorry they were. But of course when you have a cat that is almost 20 years old you know the inevitable is going to happen sooner or later.  I am just glad I can say that they took care of him the best they could and allowed me to have him just a little longer.  I would not hesitate to take any pet of mine to the Park Ridge Animal Hospital. Read Less

I love the vet but I have yet to have less than a 1/2 to 1 hr wait in interior room for her. This is a nightmare with 3 kids and an active puppy.

I bring my Lab here, and the office is great! It's always clean, the staff is very friendly, and they have really good hours. Charlie had to have stitches once for a cut on his leg. Everyone was wonderful during our emergency visit! It's true, sometimes the wait is a little bit long. There is only one vet and a few nurses. Totally worth it, they are amazing and very caring!! What makes Park Ridge Animal hospital a cut above the rest? It's the wonderful people who work there. We lost two older cats within three months. In both cases the staff treated us with kindness and compassion. The Staff at PRAH helped us in every way possible. They were up front about the cost of care and helped us with the cremation. Losing a Pet is like losing a family member. It's a difficult time to get through. I can't thank the people at the Park Ridge Animal Hospital enough for their kindness at a time when it was desperately needed. Read Less
