It was our first time boarding our 9 year old Greyhound at this kennel, and we are very disappointed. We did extensive research since we are new to this area and were under the impression that this was a great kennel to go with. That was not the case with our experience.
Dropping our dog off was a very smooth process. They were nice and took our dog to the back after we said our goodbyes. When we got him back, we were shocked at the state he was in. This kennel gives a complimentary bath to the dogs that stay longer with them. It did not look like our dog was bathed recently. He was covered in vomit (neck, chin, chest, front paws), smelled like vomit, and his hair was crusty and hard. We were shocked because he came back to us in a worse state than he was in before.
We decided to leave and wash him off ourselves since he was already stressed out at the kennel and needed to calm down. We did not want to make a scene and have our dog suffer more. When I called the kennel to ask what happened, and give them an update as to why were were upset, we were met with repeated "I don't know". This was very frustrating to me since they had our dog for 4 days, yet they seem to know nothing about the state he was in. The kennel manager was coming in later, so I gave them my information and waited all day for a response. I was thinking since she was the manager, she would know more. I was wrong. She had just as little information as the front desk. This is so unprofessional! She is the manager of the kennel and could not tell us any reason why our dog was covered in vomit. We are now skeptical that they took as much care of him as they said they did. It seems like we are not getting the full story on the dog's condition.
All that being said please do not leave your dog with this kennel. They will not be looked after as well as they should. Very disappointing for the money we paid.

What an amazing experience this was for an emergency visit for my sick fur baby! I had been taking my cat to another vet but they were not available to see her until the afternoon. I called Tender Care and they said to bring her over as soon as I could, exactly what I wanted to hear! They got her right into a room and started assessing her immediately. Both the tech and Dr Larson truly seemed to care about her and were both so gentle and loving to her. Dr Larson really seemed to know what he was talking about and took time to fully explain every test and medication they had given her. He set a specific timeline of what to do if she didn't improve and best of all, when I checked out, the visit was MUCH less than visits to my other vet! I called that old vet and had my records transferred to Tender Care right away. So glad to have this stellar of an animal hospital in Peoria!

We take all of our breeding dogs and pups to Tender Care! We love Dr. Larson, Dr. Waggoner, well, really the whole staff. We were very pleased with the grooming that was done on our cat, Twitch. He was full of knots and would not let us get rid of them. He came home soft, beautifully trimmed, smelling wonderful with his nails clipped and his ears cleaned. I highly recommend Tender Care if you need your cat shampooed and clipped.

An absolute God Send! Tender Care has been lovingly caring for my Dad's pups as he recovers from a serious car accident. They have been fantastic to work with as we get my Dad through rehab and hopefully able to care for them soon. Such peace of mind knowing they are being so well cared for! I can't recommend them enough! No question in my mind where I'll board my own dogs if needed!

I would recommend this vet clinic to everyone living in the Central IL area. They are an A+++ team and Dr. Larson is phenomenal! He is exceptionally dedicated, compassionate, competent, and always does what is best for the animals! We adopted a kitty from TAPS that had been casted, coned, had kitten acne and was on a long way to recovery. But Dr. Larson pulled him through. Every time we called to ask questions he would personally get on the phone and address them. The entire Tender Care team truly loves animals and it shows in their attention to medical detail and remembering individual animal personalities. Our little fur baby is finally getting a shot at being a normal kitten once more and he is loving it! Thank you Tender Care Team for all your hard work!

What a blessing to find such an amazing veterinary office! Besides basic veterinary care, my dog also goes to Doggie Daycare and loves it! I feel guilty leaving her home alone when I work all day, so instead I take her whenever I can for Daycare! She comes home happy and wore out from playing! And Dr. Larsen was so kind when I had to put my 16 year old pup to sleep. He and his staff were so wonderful and made a really tough day much more bearable! So glad we chose this vet!

Last summer, our 2 month old daughter became ill and had to be in the intensive care unit at St. Francis for over 60 days. The staff at Tendercare took care of our dog during that time, feeding him, boarding him, playing with him, and taking care of all of his medical needs. After we were able to bring our daughter home, my husband went to pick our dog Scout up from daycare and he was shocked to discover that TenderCare had forgiven the entire bill! When our daughter passed away five days later, TenderCare took care of Scout for two weeks to allow us to get the funeral arrangements and ourselves in order. Again when we went to pick him up, Tender Care refused to charge us.A couple of months later, Scout began suffering from an autoimmune disease. I was so worried about him and one day I brought him in to get checked out. I am sure that I looked as stressed as I felt and Scout was shaking like a leaf. Dr. Mark Larson sat down on the floor and left Scout approach him on his own, and he talked with me for over an hour, over just about everything. Mark and the entire staff at Tender Care are wonderful people and they always go the extra mile to make us feel loved and well-cared for.Scout is doing really well, and my husband and I are healing more everyday. We could not have gotten through last summer without the people at Tender Care Animal Hospital.

We have been using Tendercare for the the past 4+ years.Their name says it all. They treat your pet from the heart. They are tender and calm in all facets of the clinic. Their care exceeds expectations. They all have such a passion for animals and it shows in all they do. From training classes to grooming and all your medical needs they are terrific.The staff has been kind and considerate from day one. We have used Debbie to groom Brinkley from a puppy. She always greets us with a smile and does a great job. She is always considerate of his nervousness and takes her time to reacquaint with him.Dr. Waggoner has done our dog's yearly checkups. She is thorough, knowledgeable and very calm, taking the time to calm him so he is not so nervous and answer all our questions. We never feel rushed.Dr. Larson recently helped Brinkley (and us) through eye surgery, repairs and a long healing process. We gave him daily updates. He in return told us what to do, what to look for, what to expect. As puppy parents he took our fears and needs into consideration. He went above and beyond in the excellent care he provided to us. We knew he was only a phone call or text away.We will be forever grateful!Brinkley is completely healed! You and your pet will be in great hands with Tendercare!Thank you Tendercare

Our boxer has been attending daycare here for over 2 years and he LOVES it! All of the staff are absolutely wonderful. I've seen them sit on the floor with the animals on many occasions to give them love and make them feel at ease. They truly treat you like family and you know you're leaving your pet in the best hands. We have boarded here as well several times and he gets to play in daycare during the week so he gets plenty of exercise. We use their vet services as well and they have gone above and beyond many times for us. We foster dogs and the organization uses Tender Care for their vet services. They do so much to give back and be involved with the community.

My fur babies have been under the care of Dr Larson and his staff for the last 20 years. Each and everyone of my dogs have had the best care from the 1st day that my Fritzie needed help. Every staff member has provided my dogs with love from vet care, grooming, boarding, and daycare at both facilities: Peoria and Morton. Now my precious Otis is under their care and I know everyone of his needs are being met. He is truly loved. I highly recommend bringing your pets to either office foe the best of care. Tender Care Rocks!

Last night when we got home from work our dog had been having some issues so we called Tender care whom we have never used the vet services just grooming. They had us bring him right in and took such good care of us. Dr. Larson was so nice. He took so much time with us, you would have never known it was after hours. We moved to Peoria and only have a vet in Canton and he took the time to go over our options with continuing care and even gave us his cell number for peace of mind. I would honestly recommend Tender Care to everyone. I couldn't have asked for better care last night for our Yorkie, Tank!

With my and my wife's love for animals, especially dogs it was really important for us to find a Vet the we could take our animals to to get the best care of. When my son was just out of high school he introduced us to English Bulldogs. We fell in love with the breed. We found two very beautiful boys that were very sick and started having seizures. The vet we were taking our dogs to was lost and had no idea how to take care of them. Bulldogs are different and need special care when it comes to our babies. Our oldest one had a seizure right in front of us and the Vet simply said " I guess I gave him to much medicine", he died on the table right in front of us at the Vets office and the second just a short time later. it was obvious the he had no idea what to do with our babies. Luckily, we were told about Dr. Larson, he was great with our dogs and didnt stop till he got them well. The other day, I knew my bulldog had a ear infection and he was really in pain. I called Tender Care's Office Phone number and Dr. Larson said he'd meet me at the Peoria office in 30 minutes. I got there in 25 and he beat me there. He treated my 75 lb baby and sent me home with meds. I cant say enough about Dr. Larson and Tender Care Animal Hospital. If you need any more references to read from a English Bulldogs owner call me. Dr. Larson took in a puppy with Parvo over a year ago. He took care of all his needs while treating him for Parvo. He found a forever home with us. Jango is a pitbull and was so small when we first got him. Tender Care took care of all of his shots and even took care of neutering him so that all we had to do was take him home and love him. We had just lost our dog of 15 years earlier that year, so this was a blessing to our family. Jango is now 1yr old and 75lbs. A man came into Tender Care with a puppy that was dying from parvo and unable to care for the animal. He signed the puppy over to the care of Dr. Larson. Dr. Larson cared for this puppy for over four weeks until he could find a forever home. We were the lucky ones that Dr. Larson gave this little puppy to. Our family had just lost our dog of 15 years earlier this year and had just began our search for a new dog. Dr. Larson took care of all medical expenses in the beginning even sending us home with food so that our puppy could have the best possible start. Jango is now over 75lbs, a year old and a member of the Capitelli family. Dr. Larson gave us a new family member to love. Thank you so much for all that you do for animals every day! Jango says thank you for his forever home!

The reason I am giving Tender Care one star at this point in time is because of the day care operations. We have been taking our dog there for a few months now and up until recently, the staff always told us how well he did and how much they enjoyed having him when we would pick him up. Apparently, "that has not been 100% accurate". We were informed recently that our pup (8 mo) has been having issues at day care including being possessive of the humans and recently fighting other dogs. We take our dog to the groomer regularly where he plays with the small dogs there for half a day usually. He goes to the local dog park often. He plays with the neighborhood dogs often as well. He has never once fought another dog under our supervision. He gets along wonderfully with big dogs, small dogs, and every dog in-between. He can play rough, but never to the point of injuring another dog or starting a fight. So my question is why? Why does his aggression only come out at Tender Care? Why weren't we informed of the issues when they arose? Why wasn't there someone monitoring the situation close enough to prevent a fight? And, most importantly, why hasn't the staff of Tender Care been able to answer any of these questions? The best they've offered is for a "behavior specialist" to come watch him interact in day care for an hour (at a price of $60/hour....um, no thanks). We are both still fuming over these recent developments.

I highly recommend them. First trip was for grooming. Found my favorite groomer from Pet Smart had moved here. Second trip was routine checkup and shots and all went very smoothly. Third trip was for my cat, who had been attacked by a dog. I thought that she would not make it but successful surgery and post-op care by Dr. Larson, not to mention the support of the office staff, brought her around. The first week was tough but two weeks after the attack one would not know that she almost died. It is obvious that these folks love pets. Had time to look around and the facility is the best that I've seen.

An absolute God Send! Tender Care has been lovingly caring for my Dad's pups as he recovers from a serious car accident. They have been fantastic to work with as we get my Dad through rehab and hopefully able to care for them soon. Such peace of mind knowing they are being so well cared for! I can't recommend them enough! No question in my mind where I'll board my own dogs if needed!

I would recommend this vet clinic to everyone living in the Central IL area. They are an A+++ team and Dr. Larson is phenomenal! He is exceptionally dedicated, compassionate, competent, and always does what is best for the animals! We adopted a kitty from TAPS that had been casted, coned, had kitten acne and was on a long way to recovery. But Dr. Larson pulled him through. Every time we called to ask questions he would personally get on the phone and address them. The entire Tender Care team truly loves animals and it shows in their attention to medical detail and remembering individual animal personalities. Our little fur baby is finally getting a shot at being a normal kitten once more and he is loving it! Thank you Tender Care Team for all your hard work!

What a blessing to find such an amazing veterinary office! Besides basic veterinary care, my dog also goes to Doggie Daycare and loves it! I feel guilty leaving her home alone when I work all day, so instead I take her whenever I can for Daycare! She comes home happy and wore out from playing! And Dr. Larsen was so kind when I had to put my 16 year old pup to sleep. He and his staff were so wonderful and made a really tough day much more bearable! So glad we chose this vet!

Last summer, our 2 month old daughter became ill and had to be in the intensive care unit at St. Francis for over 60 days. The staff at Tendercare took care of our dog during that time, feeding him, boarding him, playing with him, and taking care of all of his medical needs. After we were able to bring our daughter home, my husband went to pick our dog Scout up from daycare and he was shocked to discover that TenderCare had forgiven the entire bill! When our daughter passed away five days later, TenderCare took care of Scout for two weeks to allow us to get the funeral arrangements and ourselves in order. Again when we went to pick him up, Tender Care refused to charge us.A couple of months later, Scout began suffering from an autoimmune disease. I was so worried about him and one day I brought him in to get checked out. I am sure that I looked as stressed as I felt and Scout was shaking like a leaf. Dr. Mark Larson sat down on the floor and left Scout approach him on his own, and he talked with me for over an hour, over just about everything. Mark and the entire staff at Tender Care are wonderful people and they always go the extra mile to make us feel loved and well-cared for.Scout is doing really well, and my husband and I are healing more everyday. We could not have gotten through last summer without the people at Tender Care Animal Hospital.

We have been using Tendercare for the the past 4+ years.Their name says it all. They treat your pet from the heart. They are tender and calm in all facets of the clinic. Their care exceeds expectations. They all have such a passion for animals and it shows in all they do. From training classes to grooming and all your medical needs they are terrific.The staff has been kind and considerate from day one. We have used Debbie to groom Brinkley from a puppy. She always greets us with a smile and does a great job. She is always considerate of his nervousness and takes her time to reacquaint with him.Dr. Waggoner has done our dog's yearly checkups. She is thorough, knowledgeable and very calm, taking the time to calm him so he is not so nervous and answer all our questions. We never feel rushed.Dr. Larson recently helped Brinkley (and us) through eye surgery, repairs and a long healing process. We gave him daily updates. He in return told us what to do, what to look for, what to expect. As puppy parents he took our fears and needs into consideration. He went above and beyond in the excellent care he provided to us. We knew he was only a phone call or text away.We will be forever grateful!Brinkley is completely healed! You and your pet will be in great hands with Tendercare!Thank you Tendercare

Our boxer has been attending daycare here for over 2 years and he LOVES it! All of the staff are absolutely wonderful. I've seen them sit on the floor with the animals on many occasions to give them love and make them feel at ease. They truly treat you like family and you know you're leaving your pet in the best hands. We have boarded here as well several times and he gets to play in daycare during the week so he gets plenty of exercise. We use their vet services as well and they have gone above and beyond many times for us. We foster dogs and the organization uses Tender Care for their vet services. They do so much to give back and be involved with the community.

My fur babies have been under the care of Dr Larson and his staff for the last 20 years. Each and everyone of my dogs have had the best care from the 1st day that my Fritzie needed help. Every staff member has provided my dogs with love from vet care, grooming, boarding, and daycare at both facilities: Peoria and Morton. Now my precious Otis is under their care and I know everyone of his needs are being met. He is truly loved. I highly recommend bringing your pets to either office foe the best of care. Tender Care Rocks!

Last night when we got home from work our dog had been having some issues so we called Tender care whom we have never used the vet services just grooming. They had us bring him right in and took such good care of us. Dr. Larson was so nice. He took so much time with us, you would have never known it was after hours. We moved to Peoria and only have a vet in Canton and he took the time to go over our options with continuing care and even gave us his cell number for peace of mind. I would honestly recommend Tender Care to everyone. I couldn't have asked for better care last night for our Yorkie, Tank!

With my and my wife's love for animals, especially dogs it was really important for us to find a Vet the we could take our animals to to get the best care of. When my son was just out of high school he introduced us to English Bulldogs. We fell in love with the breed. We found two very beautiful boys that were very sick and started having seizures. The vet we were taking our dogs to was lost and had no idea how to take care of them. Bulldogs are different and need special care when it comes to our babies. Our oldest one had a seizure right in front of us and the Vet simply said " I guess I gave him to much medicine", he died on the table right in front of us at the Vets office and the second just a short time later. it was obvious the he had no idea what to do with our babies. Luckily, we were told about Dr. Larson, he was great with our dogs and didnt stop till he got them well. The other day, I knew my bulldog had a ear infection and he was really in pain. I called Tender Care's Office Phone number and Dr. Larson said he'd meet me at the Peoria office in 30 minutes. I got there in 25 and he beat me there. He treated my 75 lb baby and sent me home with meds. I cant say enough about Dr. Larson and Tender Care Animal Hospital. If you need any more references to read from a English Bulldogs owner call me. Dr. Larson took in a puppy with Parvo over a year ago. He took care of all his needs while treating him for Parvo. He found a forever home with us. Jango is a pitbull and was so small when we first got him. Tender Care took care of all of his shots and even took care of neutering him so that all we had to do was take him home and love him. We had just lost our dog of 15 years earlier that year, so this was a blessing to our family. Jango is now 1yr old and 75lbs. A man came into Tender Care with a puppy that was dying from parvo and unable to care for the animal. He signed the puppy over to the care of Dr. Larson. Dr. Larson cared for this puppy for over four weeks until he could find a forever home. We were the lucky ones that Dr. Larson gave this little puppy to. Our family had just lost our dog of 15 years earlier this year and had just began our search for a new dog. Dr. Larson took care of all medical expenses in the beginning even sending us home with food so that our puppy could have the best possible start. Jango is now over 75lbs, a year old and a member of the Capitelli family. Dr. Larson gave us a new family member to love. Thank you so much for all that you do for animals every day! Jango says thank you for his forever home!

The reason I am giving Tender Care one star at this point in time is because of the day care operations. We have been taking our dog there for a few months now and up until recently, the staff always told us how well he did and how much they enjoyed having him when we would pick him up. Apparently, "that has not been 100% accurate". We were informed recently that our pup (8 mo) has been having issues at day care including being possessive of the humans and recently fighting other dogs. We take our dog to the groomer regularly where he plays with the small dogs there for half a day usually. He goes to the local dog park often. He plays with the neighborhood dogs often as well. He has never once fought another dog under our supervision. He gets along wonderfully with big dogs, small dogs, and every dog in-between. He can play rough, but never to the point of injuring another dog or starting a fight. So my question is why? Why does his aggression only come out at Tender Care? Why weren't we informed of the issues when they arose? Why wasn't there someone monitoring the situation close enough to prevent a fight? And, most importantly, why hasn't the staff of Tender Care been able to answer any of these questions? The best they've offered is for a "behavior specialist" to come watch him interact in day care for an hour (at a price of $60/hour....um, no thanks). We are both still fuming over these recent developments.

I highly recommend them. First trip was for grooming. Found my favorite groomer from Pet Smart had moved here. Second trip was routine checkup and shots and all went very smoothly. Third trip was for my cat, who had been attacked by a dog. I thought that she would not make it but successful surgery and post-op care by Dr. Larson, not to mention the support of the office staff, brought her around. The first week was tough but two weeks after the attack one would not know that she almost died. It is obvious that these folks love pets. Had time to look around and the facility is the best that I've seen.
