Slow walk-in service. I walked in and was told they can take my pet shortly. Sat around for 20 minutes, was informed it will be a couple more minutes, sat around for abother 15 before leaving. A few days back I noticed my dog had some spots on his back, so I wanted to get him checked out by a doctor as soon as possible. I was happy that the animal care center had appointment openings the same day so I chose to go there. I called at 2pm and set the appointment for 4pm. I arrived at 350pm with my dog and checked in at the front desk no problem. Come 4pm I was guided into a room where my dog would be seen and that's where it went all wrong. I waited and waited and finally after waiting till 5pm without any updates or anyone coming in the room I walked out of the facility. Went to another vet the next day and did not have this issue. Moral of the story, please take other peoples time into consideration. I would have had no problem waiting to coming in at a later time, or even waiting until the next day. I understand there can be bigger priorities in animal hospitals( Sugery, accident's, etc...) but it still doesn't make up for the fact that you're wasting people's time by scheduling appointments you can't service. I adopted a puppy and two days later had to take him back for boosters, and it made me so happy to see Taz wagging his tail at everybody he remembered. That just confirmed how well they take care of their animals and truly provide a safe, clean, excellent environment for them to thrive in. At just 5 months old, my pup is already listening to commands thanks to the volunteers and staff for working with him during his stay at the shelter. He is such a great puppy and I couldn’t be any more pleased with the service we received adopting him or the care that he received prior to becoming a member of our family. This business is not be trusted. It is spring break week and many of you are trusting your dearly loved pets for boarding. While the vet care has always been to our liking this was the first time we boarded our animals at the facility. Our dogs have never had problems boarding at other facilities. Our sweet girl ruptured her trachea last night from barking/coughing in stress. The vet admitted it was due to the environment being very stressful yet the staff who are supposed to monitor our dogs for safety let her cough/bark until this injury happened. From there we authorized pick up with friends and the doctor approved us to pay on Saturday as we are out of town to review what happened. From there I have never been treated in such disrespect in my life. I was told they could not go home until I gave them what the doctor was waiting for (my fax number I gave hours ago to see the contract we signed). Once they got this they then refused to release her until payment was made. It wasn't until I threatened police for unlawfully holding my dogs (who were now on alert and willing to go) that they "let me" pay for boarding and to talk about the rest Saturday. I was told that, "they didn't make her cough," that I cared too much and "did I have human children because I was treating my dogs like a child," "that people don't get groceries without paying, why should I get my dogs," etc. I was interrupted multiple times and hung up on. They are OUR pets, they did the damage, refused to take responsibility for their actions, and played off a ruptured trachea as though our baby (yes baby!) was not worth anything. My dog did not eat for 3 days, I knew something was seriously not right. When she was seen, she had a tumor and had started to bleed, she had emergency surgery that moment. With not expecting to hear this kind of diagnosis, I and my daughter started crying. Dr. Micheal was the best vet and saved my baby that I had since 11 weeks old, she is 10 years now. I had such a great experience here!! Been to many vets in the past who I did not feel comfortable with, but here everyone was friendly and really cared about my cat! I recently adopted my little friend & I wanted a simple wellness exam to address some of my concerns with my cat. I did not feel pressured to purchase any services that weren’t necessary; they gave me all my options and told me I could decide what to do. My cat didn’t have any major issues, I just got the services done to help my peace of mind. I did not feel forced to spend tons of money to just check up on my cat. I loved the vet I had, she was a doll and treated my cat like you would a person! My cat is my child to me so that meant the world to me. (I had Lauren Spinelli! LOVED HER!) Don't come here during an emergency. Brought my cat in twice for a blocked urethra. They will give you a quote with a range of pricing. When you come to pickup your pet it will always be the highest possible quoted price. Also they have a different practice take care of your pet overnight and never tell you that. Although not an exotic specialist, she was very knowledgeable, and spent a lot of time with us in exam even though the clinic was full on a Sunday morning. She gave our piggy a thorough workup. No. Just go anywhere else. Put my dog down here a few months ago and the woman were so rude, the whole experience was horrible during that time. Then they just made us leave because my dog has a cough after I called multiple times to get him in. Then on top of it; I rushed my dog in after wheezing and vomiting after being concerned of something in his wind pipe and told us they can't see him because they're too busy. I also got there at 2:29, and emergency prices start at 2:30 on Saturday's and they told me I had to pay emergency prices after speeding to get here. Go to the Shorewood location.Read Less

The staff is friendly. We never have to wait for our animals to be looked at. One of my cats had a mass on his abdomen. They biopsied it and determined he was going to need more specialized treatment than they could offer and recommended another hospital. I like the staff....prices seem consistant with other places. The reason for the three stars is the wait times and hidden pricing. Every time i come here even with an appointment its consistantly 30/60 minutes before i see a Doctor. If I could rate zero stars I would. They care more about money than anything else. They gave us "2 weeks of antiobiotics" which ended up being only 1. ( We gave the exact dosage to our bunny. 2 different meds. ) Anyways Monday we called stating it probably won't last. The vet said she would take care of it no charge (as we already paid for the meds) They where to be ready by time we got there. They kept us waiting for 2.5 hours, and kept trying to charge us for what we paid for again and again over there mistake. Mind you I live 40 minutes away. The vet was too cowardly to come talk to us as we could hear evey word of her, badmouthing us to the tech (who I feel bad for but hekpded handle the situation well. She shouldn't have forced to do that and the vet cmshoukd have confronted us) right outside the door. Saying if we brought the rabbit in a few days later she would be dead. (which we brought our baby in asap, and that was never mentioned to us. Mot sure why it was brought up) they treated us as if we are stupid and tried to con us for there mistake using every excuse possible. It was more than disguting of them. I recommend people use Critter Care or anywhere else instead . We had great experiences with them but had to go here out of last resort. They are rude and extremely unprofessional. If it wasnt for my firing back who knows what would have happened, if theynwoukd have conned my mother out of hef money. They treat your pets like a comodity, all about the money. Even hearing them talk crap about us behind out backs.... wow Also they said we cant comeback unless we pay upfront at our next visit. . The staff is great, my phone calls are always answered in a friendly nature and call-backs by a Doctor are prompt. I don't have much experience with all of the doctors but my bulldog has torn two ACL's and has had them both repaired by Dr. Michael (one very recently). Dr. Michael is very compassionate and answered all of my questions, providing recommendations when needed. After about 6 weeks recovery on the first procedure he regained 99% functionality and you couldn't even tell he had torn his ACL by how he was running and playing. My other dog had to be hospitalized for pneumonia; they were able to send her home after two days and she made a full recovery. I have been bringing my furry babies to Animal Care Center Plainfield for more than a decade and I believe that you couldn't find better Veterinary doctors, clinic, groomers than this. The place can be a bit hectic but that goes along with the flexibility of walk in care availability. I like how they are always working to improve waiting time by adding things such as sign in sheet and more recently, a separate desk for grooming/boarding check-in. We lost our beloved dog here. We've noticed our dog was acting weird, throwing up white liquid non-stop and his stomach has gotten really hard. A big shout out to Dr Mottel. Having never seen me or my dog during an emergency situation, he did not take what he was told by another veterinarian as gospel. He listened to me, the owner, that something wasn't right, my boy was not acting right. We agreed on additional X-ray's to confirm what the other vet had missed on their X-ray's, that saved my dogs life. While Dr Mottel could not perform the needed procedure there, he was more that cooperative and helpful to be sure I got to the closest place possible. Doctor John Michael is the best. So is vet tech Julie. My 9 year golden was diagnosed with a ruptured spleen yesterday morning. My husband and I had to make a gut wrenching decision. Very sadly we had no other choice but to let him go before he lost anymore blood. Silent killer ultimately was cancer. We miss our Buddy horribly. Dr Mike was very compassionate and allowed us to take as much time as we needed with our beloved Bud. Julie came in the room and saw it was us and cried with us.
