Since I was 3 my parents and I have taken our pets to AMC. We've been through New adoptions, old age, cancer, allergies, diabetes, Lyme disease and dental checkups with AMC. Dr. Mary most recently has saved my 7yr. Old Golden from skin cancer. He healed fast and is back to playing with my 3 yr old American bully/pointer mix. My 12 yr old Hymalyan has ran into dental issues and blood sugar issues. Both have been almost completely corrected and he plays like a kitten again. I can go on and on, but I can't imagine having any other Animal clinic care for my furbabies! Read Less

NOTE: I received a phone message from Animal Medical Clinic. They recently sent a tissue sample to a lab and it showed cancer.
This summer my dog Rohnin had allergies and had broken out on his belly and some of the eruptions infected. His private area still a bit of a swollen area but not red and he was peeing more often and it smelled bad. I told her it was most likely a bladder infection. The Vet said she thought it was cancer and she gave him a cortisone shot. Why I am not sure. It was obvious he had a bladder infection. She did not take a urine sample or ask for one. A week later Rohnin was getting worse so I called and was told the vet said he was peeing a lot because of the cortisone shot and to wait a week. She also said the cortisone takes down inflammation but interferes with the body€s healing so antibiotic would not be given until the cortisone wore off. My Rohnin got worse. Yes the slight swelling in genital area was down but other symptoms like not being able to pee or poo now still getting worse. I waited the week, made an appointment and brought in a urine sample. She came out after examining the urine and seemed shocked and said €he has a horrible infection€. The office called and said that the antibiotic was the correct one. Four days on the antibiotic and he was still getting worse. Now crying often in pain and panting heavy. So on my own I get the urine sample and bring it in. She comes out and is annoyed and snaps at me asking me why I am there again. She takes me in the room and explains she is convinced it is cancer and there is nothing she can do if it is. She says she will check the sample again. A couple days later Rohnin is getting even worse and is lethargic. So I tell the girl at the desk that I am going to bring in another sample. They tell me it has to be sterile. Really? Nobody ever said that before. So I stop by to get a sterile cup and I was rudely told it would have to be a sterile sample and the only way to get a sterile sample was with a needle to the bladder. I bring in the sterile cup sample anyway and am told very rudely that she isn€t in so Dr. Brul runs the culture and guess what, he recommends a different antibiotic. Looks like she had my baby on the wrong medication. I have a conversation with her and she denies it was the wrong one and that it was just another type of infection that showed up. By this time Rohnin is urinating every 20 minutes 24 hours a day. So I ask her if putting in some kind of tube to open the urethra will help and maybe she could take a sterile sample while he is under. She agrees. She is still adamant it is cancer. I bring poor Rohnin in and she comes out about 20 minutes later, pulls me into a room and tells me that something went wrong. She put the catheter right through somewhere in the tube or the bladder and he was bleeding. She tells me that she shouldn€t have continued to use bigger and bigger catheters. She tells me there is nothing she can do. But one option is to run a tube as his urethra and put a cap on his privates and I would have to take the cap off every time he had to pee. I go through a scenario of options and she says there is nothing to do. She repeats he has cancer. She still has no proof of that. I ask her if she put the needle in the bladder to get a sample and she gets a funny look on her face and says yes (I had my doubts) and that she saw some kind of mass of cells telling her it was most likely cancer and that there is nothing you can do for a dog with cancer. After calling my girlfriend who breeds dogs I make the decision to put him down. The vet was pushing for this saying there was nothing she could do. I decide I will be there for him since he is coming out of anesthesia. To add insult to injury She then tries to put the needle in the vein his leg and fails and blood squirts everywhere as she swears under her breath. She finally gets the needle into his leg and pushes the blue poison into him and he passes. NEVER EVER use Animal Medical Clinic in Rockford! Read Less
