Dr. Holm took over ownership of Auburn Animal Clinic from Dr. Ramon Medernach in 2003. Dr. Holm received her D.V.M. degree in May 1982 from Iowa State University. She first was employed at Pines Meadow Veterinary Clinic in Oregon, Illinois for nine years as a mixed clinical practitioner. She then owned and practiced as a sole proprietor relief veterinarian for approximately 40 veterinary practices in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. Dr. Holm holds current veterinary licenses in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. She is a member of the greater Rockford Veterinary Medical Association, AVMA, AAHA, ISVMA and NIVMA.

RUDE people work here! Her name is either Judy or Julie. Older woman with pulled back hair! We took our girl pit, Sammi, there for a growth she had. We left her there for blood work and all kinds of tests. They said she has a thyroid problem and will need meds for life. They also gave her a steroid pill daily for a month, to shrink growth and that she may need surgery. They know my husband is an over the road trucker and keeps the two female dogs on the road with him and that he could just call when she needed her thyroid med refilled, because he’s not home for months at a time. When he called for a refill the older woman with the hair pulled back basically screamed at my husband!! How dare she! He was so pissed! We got over it and I went and picked up her thyroid meds and drove them to where my husband was. We decided we liked the vet and it was the staff that was rude. So I brought my male dog in there because my regular vet was booked and he needed to be seen ASAP! I though everyone was nice and did their job without being rude. So I told them we’d bring all 9 of our cats and dogs to them! I had to have my cat put down, due to cancer, a few days later and they were all great. Then, 4 days later, my male dog got a scrape on his side, from playing outside, and I brought him in and also did his rabies shot there. It was awful! We had to wait in a dirty room. We had to wait so long to be seen and they muzzled him and had no regard to his discomfort. No problem, I’m thinking, but doing the slow burn. If they weee that busy they should have given me a different appt time! Then they had me bring my dog into the hot car to wait for “paperwork” and for me to wait in the back hallway so I could check on my dog in the car. They did that because he was barking. It’s fricking HOT outside! I waited and waited and went to the front desk to ask for the paperwork (everything was paid) and he same old lady with the hair pulled back YELLED at me to “WAIT A MINUTE “. She screamed it at me! She could have said nicely, just a minute! But NO! He rude ass self came out. I told her my dog was in a hot car waiting because I was told to put him in the car. We already gave them another chance! Never again! I immediately walked away and out to the car! The dr came running after me and I told her that no staff from a business that I pay good money to is going to YELL at me and that they just lost 8 pets for their business. (Was 9 but my cat passed on). She said “well we’re busy” and I said I don’t care...no one is going to yell at me or my husband again! They lost our business. I’ve never been talked to like that before in my life from a place that we spend a lot of money at. Never again! That old hag at the front desk needs to go!

Let me tell you something briefly about myself...which I believe will give this more weight
I have been an animal lover all my life.
I researched nomadic Lions in East Africa.
I captured and rescued over 100 feral cats.
I have worked for vets in my younger days.
Voracious (my puddy cat queen) a feral cat, raised many litters, she would trust me after birthing them- she would give me her kittens as she transported them, (one by one) from the birthing den to the secondary den. This was while she was still wild, a true, strong , fearless feral cat and mother.
Later I was able to bring her at 7 years old and others into my home.
On February 17th my queen is with God now. She was 18 and half years:
The staff and Veterinarian Dr. Holm, handled her and I with supreme care.
I do not really have the words to express the love and bond I have with Voracious and how thankful I am to Dr. Holm and her staff:
The best I can say for this animal hospital is
They are Simba's in animal and people care.
Simba is Swahili, not a Disney word. and it means Lion.
Their class, kindness, knowledge, understanding, empathy, wisdom, professionalism; have definitely without ambiguity earned my trust.
They are Simba's!

I've never had any issues with Dr. Holm. She diagnosed my Great Dane with weak hind legs and gave us recommendations on supplements and Biko leg bands to strengthen his muscles.

I've never had any issues with Dr. Holm. She diagnosed my Great Dane with weak hind legs and gave us recommendations on supplements and Biko leg bands to strengthen his muscles.
Eventually over time we weren't seeing the results we would like so we did start to take him to another clinic to try laser therapy treatments because she doesn't offer that yet. After 3 he was out running around like a pup again. We did keep using to Biko bands in conjunction with the laser to help keep strengthening his hind end as it was definitely helping him.
Dr. Holm does care about your pets and their needs, along with your concerns and questions. She will take the time to talk to you personally outside the office if she needs to or if you need to talk to her about your pets.

My mom was talking to a woman named Marsha Maass she said she works here and wanted us to bring in are litter of puppies who will be 10 weeks on Thursday for there shots because she said it was cheaper then are vet. But then she saw a post about us being supposed breeders which we are not. We got are dog Bailey when she was pregnant her last owners said we think she is but where not sure. So we've had her for three months now and she had 13 puppies 3 are now in safe loving forever homes. The sad thing is we had to put are dog koda of 12 years down on Friday because she had two badly torn acls that could not be repaired are vet tried everything she could she referred us too a specialist in Chicago but he wouldn't touch her because she had two tears on in each back leg, her weight, her age, and the type of tear but no one would believe us. Instead we had to hear these horrible lies saying we only put her down because we couldn't breed her which is 100% false she had been fixed since she was 6 months old. We miss her dearly but are vet said it was the best thing for her. We have pictures of the nice conversation and the bad.

This is by far the best vet that I have ever been to in 40 years. The staff is friendly and accommodating and do their best to help whenever they can. Dr. Holm has answered her phone in the middle of the night to reassure me. She has squeezed my dogs and when they need help immediately. Even though I drive clear across town I will never go to another vet. I would recommend her to anyone. If you think money is her goal, try the overhead. Bills and staff must be paid.

No monotonous litany to discuss here, just a deep disrespect of the vet, and obvious lack of integrity to the profession itself. She's an embarrassment to all who truly care for the well being of animals. Sad...just Sad

She just put some skin stuff on my dog without permission then tried to charge me.When I tried saying I never agreed to it they called me a liar told me they were charging me a restock fee that was never mentioned ever to me. If I wanted/ could afford the meds for my dog don't you think I would have gotten them?!? When I tried to talk to them they were rude and wouldn't answer my questions just kept saying they were charging me. Called back to tell them not to run my credit card and the women wouldn't listen and kept cutting me off! I have NEVER experienced such rude customer service ever! This place just wants money as soon as I got approved for care credit it was nothing but $ signs to them! So disappointed!

Best Vet In Rockford! I've been going to see Dr Holm for 12 years. One of the things I love is that no matter what if the office is closed and you have a question she gives you her house and cell phone number to get ahold of her. When my dog was suffering with epilepsy she was there for support like no other. And what she did for my cat Greta was above and beyond. Thanks Dr Holm for being such a great Vet!

They have been our vet for years now and we couldn't be happier. The staff is absolutely outstanding. So loving and compassionate. This is not just some job they are doing. This is their passion. We had the worse experience at Auburn Animal Clinic with our dear dog. After treating him with medication for a disease, he suffered a stroke. When we took him in to put him out of his misery, they treated us terribly, We were told to keep him outside in the parking lot until our scheduled time, no one else was in the clinic at the time. I refused to leave my dog in their parking lot and proceeded to take him into the clinic. After asking to have him put out of his pain we were told he had a treatable disease and our appointment was really at 11:30, this was at 11:15. We had to insist he be euthanize we were not going to allow them to treat him any longer. I will NEVER take another one of my animals to that clinic and have them touch an animal of mine or anyone else I know. The doctor seemed much more interested in making money than the welfare of our precious family member.

In a nutshell avoid the lady up front, everyone else is great...Took my two dogs in to be spayed under the Illinois spay and neuter program, and the lady up front acted like I lived under a bridge and my animals weren't taken care of, and didn't deserve her care. When she finally asked for records I asked for the fax number so I could have records faxed in, she changed her tune for about five seconds. She referred to my dogs as the Spay and neuter program, never by their given names. The techs and though I didn't meet the vet, she was in surgery all day, were phenomenal. The vet tech Jen, called to reassure everything was going good, and that surgery went well. Above and beyond, then when I went to pick the puppies up, another customer was there with a rabbit that was spayed/neutered and that lady had a completely different tone/attitude with that customer, like his rabbit was a king, explained what I had overheard the tech telling him for after care services Yada Yada... When I asked about after care instructions and how much they're normal office visits are, the phone was more important and walking to the back for some reason. Never got the after care instructions from her, Jen came out of a room from checking in another patient and let me know what to watch for and what not. Though I can't stand the lady up front, I will be going back bc this vet figured out what my previous vet couldn't figure out for over a year with my girls' ears... As long as the lady up front isn't completely rude, it should be interesting, if her attitude is different I will update. Good luck.

Dr. Holm and her staff are absolutely wonderful. We sought her opinion after being told there was nothing we could do for our 5 year old lab's torn ACL. From the first moment we met Dr. Holm she did everything she could to make my anxious dog calm and relaxed. Never has a vet taken the time to do this for us. After the surgery she sent me pictures to assure me how my dog was doing and kept in contact with me through the recovery process. We are so thankful to her and her team for giving our dog a chance to be the healthy active pup he is.

all they care about is $ and not your pet. my dog was in need of care asap and all they could talk about is do i have money and i need this amount and $$$$$$!! she didn't ask one thing about how bad he was or what was wrong. she hung up on 2 times. money was no problem for me I wanted him in asap and we would talk about money when he was being seen. This is the 2nd time I have had problems there. This place is a joke. I took him to Animal Clinic of Rockford at 3444 nmain and for 10$ the seen him right then and gave me a 900$ discount!! so I will never go back here again. greed and rude people run this place.

Not a place that I would take any of my pets to again. Earlier this summer I had a family emergency in Alabama and had to fly out of O'Hare on a Saturday afternoon when I called to have my both my dog...
Not a place that I would take any of my pets to again. Earlier this summer I had a family emergency in Alabama and had to fly out of O'Hare on a Saturday afternoon when I called to have my both my dogs vaccination records sent to the place we boarded them I was told that it would be done immediately,. On Monday on of the employees from the boarding facility called and informed me they still had not received any information for my dogs. I called Dr. Holm's office immediately and was told that the Dr. had taken my dogs records home with her on Saturday afternoon instead of faxing them. Dr. Holm then got on the phone and informed me that I would have to come to the clinic to get my records because she wanted to be informed in person why I was switching vets. This completely threw me off considering that was not what I had asked. After again explaining what I needed I told her that I had to go as I was at a funeral home and needed to make some decisions about the funeral this made her particularly angry and she hung up after informing me she would not have time to fax the records over today as her afternoon was booked solid. Luckily the place we boarded our dogs had dealt with her before and was very cooperative with us.

I took her off the meds (even though they kept telling me she would not make it ,if i took her off the meds) its been about 5 years now and she is doing great NO PROBLEMS . so no i do not take my pets there any more

What a great office with friendly staff that remember our pet's names. We have had two Dogs both treated for normal well dog checkups and doctor visits, we have had two guinea pigs treated there as well, the first one died and the doctor did a full autopsy on the little guy then gave him back all wrapped up for a funeral in our back yard. The office has been around a long long time and the staff has changed over the years but the care and attention has not. Often when we go there with our pets we meet the folks that live in the neighborhood with us. The late day appointments are hard to use because the doctor does have a heavy patient load. Well worth the extra time to get to know the birds and cats that walk the halls, our puppy loves to go to the vet still and so do our kids when we go. Auburn Animal Clinic is highly recommended by our friends neighbors and family, highly recommended by us.

Dr. Holm took over ownership of Auburn Animal Clinic from Dr. Ramon Medernach in 2003. Dr. Holm received her D.V.M. degree in May 1982 from Iowa State University. She first was employed at Pines Meadow Veterinary Clinic in Oregon, Illinois for nine years as a mixed clinical practitioner. She then owned and practiced as a sole proprietor relief veterinarian for approximately 40 veterinary practices in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. Dr. Holm holds current veterinary licenses in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. She is a member of the greater Rockford Veterinary Medical Association, AVMA, AAHA, ISVMA and NIVMA.
Auburn Animal Clinic partners with the Remedies Program to provide shelter and care for animals of domestic violence victims.
Auburn Animal Clinic is a founding member of the West Side Business Association in Rockford.

RUDE people work here! Her name is either Judy or Julie. Older woman with pulled back hair! We took our girl pit, Sammi, there for a growth she had. We left her there for blood work and all kinds of tests. They said she has a thyroid problem and will need meds for life. They also gave her a steroid pill daily for a month, to shrink growth and that she may need surgery. They know my husband is an over the road trucker and keeps the two female dogs on the road with him and that he could just call when she needed her thyroid med refilled, because he’s not home for months at a time. When he called for a refill the older woman with the hair pulled back basically screamed at my husband!! How dare she! He was so pissed! We got over it and I went and picked up her thyroid meds and drove them to where my husband was. We decided we liked the vet and it was the staff that was rude. So I brought my male dog in there because my regular vet was booked and he needed to be seen ASAP! I though everyone was nice and did their job without being rude. So I told them we’d bring all 9 of our cats and dogs to them! I had to have my cat put down, due to cancer, a few days later and they were all great. Then, 4 days later, my male dog got a scrape on his side, from playing outside, and I brought him in and also did his rabies shot there. It was awful! We had to wait in a dirty room. We had to wait so long to be seen and they muzzled him and had no regard to his discomfort. No problem, I’m thinking, but doing the slow burn. If they weee that busy they should have given me a different appt time! Then they had me bring my dog into the hot car to wait for “paperwork” and for me to wait in the back hallway so I could check on my dog in the car. They did that because he was barking. It’s fricking HOT outside! I waited and waited and went to the front desk to ask for the paperwork (everything was paid) and he same old lady with the hair pulled back YELLED at me to “WAIT A MINUTE “. She screamed it at me! She could have said nicely, just a minute! But NO! He rude ass self came out. I told her my dog was in a hot car waiting because I was told to put him in the car. We already gave them another chance! Never again! I immediately walked away and out to the car! The dr came running after me and I told her that no staff from a business that I pay good money to is going to YELL at me and that they just lost 8 pets for their business. (Was 9 but my cat passed on). She said “well we’re busy” and I said I don’t care...no one is going to yell at me or my husband again! They lost our business. I’ve never been talked to like that before in my life from a place that we spend a lot of money at. Never again! That old hag at the front desk needs to go!

Let me tell you something briefly about myself...which I believe will give this more weight
I have been an animal lover all my life.
I researched nomadic Lions in East Africa.
I captured and rescued over 100 feral cats.
I have worked for vets in my younger days.
Voracious (my puddy cat queen) a feral cat, raised many litters, she would trust me after birthing them- she would give me her kittens as she transported them, (one by one) from the birthing den to the secondary den. This was while she was still wild, a true, strong , fearless feral cat and mother.
Later I was able to bring her at 7 years old and others into my home.
On February 17th my queen is with God now. She was 18 and half years:
The staff and Veterinarian Dr. Holm, handled her and I with supreme care.
I do not really have the words to express the love and bond I have with Voracious and how thankful I am to Dr. Holm and her staff:
The best I can say for this animal hospital is
They are Simba's in animal and people care.
Simba is Swahili, not a Disney word. and it means Lion.
Their class, kindness, knowledge, understanding, empathy, wisdom, professionalism; have definitely without ambiguity earned my trust.

I've never had any issues with Dr. Holm. She diagnosed my Great Dane with weak hind legs and gave us recommendations on supplements and Biko leg bands to strengthen his muscles.

I've never had any issues with Dr. Holm. She diagnosed my Great Dane with weak hind legs and gave us recommendations on supplements and Biko leg bands to strengthen his muscles.
Eventually over time we weren't seeing the results we would like so we did start to take him to another clinic to try laser therapy treatments because she doesn't offer that yet. After 3 he was out running around like a pup again. We did keep using to Biko bands in conjunction with the laser to help keep strengthening his hind end as it was definitely helping him.
Dr. Holm does care about your pets and their needs, along with your concerns and questions. She will take the time to talk to you personally outside the office if she needs to or if you need to talk to her about your pets.

My mom was talking to a woman named Marsha Maass she said she works here and wanted us to bring in are litter of puppies who will be 10 weeks on Thursday for there shots because she said it was cheaper then are vet. But then she saw a post about us being supposed breeders which we are not. We got are dog Bailey when she was pregnant her last owners said we think she is but where not sure. So we've had her for three months now and she had 13 puppies 3 are now in safe loving forever homes. The sad thing is we had to put are dog koda of 12 years down on Friday because she had two badly torn acls that could not be repaired are vet tried everything she could she referred us too a specialist in Chicago but he wouldn't touch her because she had two tears on in each back leg, her weight, her age, and the type of tear but no one would believe us. Instead we had to hear these horrible lies saying we only put her down because we couldn't breed her which is 100% false she had been fixed since she was 6 months old. We miss her dearly but are vet said it was the best thing for her. We have pictures of the nice conversation and the bad.

This is by far the best vet that I have ever been to in 40 years. The staff is friendly and accommodating and do their best to help whenever they can. Dr. Holm has answered her phone in the middle of the night to reassure me. She has squeezed my dogs and when they need help immediately. Even though I drive clear across town I will never go to another vet. I would recommend her to anyone. If you think money is her goal, try the overhead. Bills and staff must be paid.

She just put some skin stuff on my dog without permission then tried to charge me.When I tried saying I never agreed to it they called me a liar told me they were charging me a restock fee that was never mentioned ever to me. If I wanted/ could afford the meds for my dog don't you think I would have gotten them?!? When I tried to talk to them they were rude and wouldn't answer my questions just kept saying they were charging me. Called back to tell them not to run my credit card and the women wouldn't listen and kept cutting me off! I have NEVER experienced such rude customer service ever! This place just wants money as soon as I got approved for care credit it was nothing but $ signs to them! So disappointed!

One of the things I love is that no matter what if the office is closed and you have a question she gives you her house and cell phone number to get ahold of her. When my dog was suffering with epilepsy she was there for support like no other. And what she did for my cat Greta was above and beyond. Thanks Dr Holm for being such a great Vet!

They have been our vet for years now and we couldn't be happier. The staff is absolutely outstanding. So loving and compassionate. This is not just some job they are doing. This is their passion. We had the worse experience at Auburn Animal Clinic with our dear dog. After treating him with medication for a disease, he suffered a stroke. When we took him in to put him out of his misery, they treated us terribly, We were told to keep him outside in the parking lot until our scheduled time, no one else was in the clinic at the time. I refused to leave my dog in their parking lot and proceeded to take him into the clinic. After asking to have him put out of his pain we were told he had a treatable disease and our appointment was really at 11:30, this was at 11:15. We had to insist he be euthanize we were not going to allow them to treat him any longer. I will NEVER take another one of my animals to that clinic and have them touch an animal of mine or anyone else I know. The doctor seemed much more interested in making money than the welfare of our precious family member.

In a nutshell avoid the lady up front, everyone else is great...Took my two dogs in to be spayed under the Illinois spay and neuter program, and the lady up front acted like I lived under a bridge and my animals weren't taken care of, and didn't deserve her care. When she finally asked for records I asked for the fax number so I could have records faxed in, she changed her tune for about five seconds. She referred to my dogs as the Spay and neuter program, never by their given names. The techs and though I didn't meet the vet, she was in surgery all day, were phenomenal. The vet tech Jen, called to reassure everything was going good, and that surgery went well. Above and beyond, then when I went to pick the puppies up, another customer was there with a rabbit that was spayed/neutered and that lady had a completely different tone/attitude with that customer, like his rabbit was a king, explained what I had overheard the tech telling him for after care services Yada Yada... When I asked about after care instructions and how much they're normal office visits are, the phone was more important and walking to the back for some reason. Never got the after care instructions from her, Jen came out of a room from checking in another patient and let me know what to watch for and what not. Though I can't stand the lady up front, I will be going back bc this vet figured out what my previous vet couldn't figure out for over a year with my girls' ears... As long as the lady up front isn't completely rude, it should be interesting, if her attitude is different I will update. Good luck.

Dr. Holm and her staff are absolutely wonderful. We sought her opinion after being told there was nothing we could do for our 5 year old lab's torn ACL. From the first moment we met Dr. Holm she did everything she could to make my anxious dog calm and relaxed. Never has a vet taken the time to do this for us. After the surgery she sent me pictures to assure me how my dog was doing and kept in contact with me through the recovery process. We are so thankful to her and her team for giving our dog a chance to be the healthy active pup he is.

This is the 2nd time I have had problems there. This place is a joke. I took him to Animal Clinic of Rockford at 3444 nmain and for 10$ the seen him right then and gave me a 900$ discount!! so I will never go back here again. greed and rude people run this place.

Not a place that I would take any of my pets to again. Earlier this summer I had a family emergency in Alabama and had to fly out of O'Hare on a Saturday afternoon when I called to have my both my dogs vaccination records sent to the place we boarded them I was told that it would be done immediately,. On Monday on of the employees from the boarding facility called and informed me they still had not received any information for my dogs. I called Dr. Holm's office immediately and was told that the Dr. had taken my dogs records home with her on Saturday afternoon instead of faxing them. Dr. Holm then got on the phone and informed me that I would have to come to the clinic to get my records because she wanted to be informed in person why I was switching vets. This completely threw me off considering that was not what I had asked. After again explaining what I needed I told her that I had to go as I was at a funeral home and needed to make some decisions about the funeral this made her particularly angry and she hung up after informing me she would not have time to fax the records over today as her afternoon was booked solid. Luckily the place we boarded our dogs had dealt with her before and was very cooperative with us.

I took there word for it ,i mean they are suppose to be vets . Well she just laid around and was very snappy ,so i figured i'm not gonna let her live like this . I took her off the meds (even though they kept telling me she would not make it ,if i took her off the meds) its been about 5 years now and she is doing great NO PROBLEMS . so no i do not take my pets there any more

What a great office with friendly staff that remember our pet's names. We have had two Dogs both treated for normal well dog checkups and doctor visits, we have had two guinea pigs treated there as well, the first one died and the doctor did a full autopsy on the little guy then gave him back all wrapped up for a funeral in our back yard. The office has been around a long long time and the staff has changed over the years but the care and attention has not. Often when we go there with our pets we meet the folks that live in the neighborhood with us. The late day appointments are hard to use because the doctor does have a heavy patient load. Well worth the extra time to get to know the birds and cats that walk the halls, our puppy loves to go to the vet still and so do our kids when we go. Auburn Animal Clinic is highly recommended by our friends neighbors and family, highly recommended by us.
