We took our 7 yr old Husky today, who had been limping with her back right leg, starting on Christmas Eve day. The staff was very friendly and they all loved her and was careful with her. They cared about the dog and not just about the money. She was taken for x-rays and the vet showed us what was going on. We are treating her with chew-able Rimadyl now for the inflammation. They did a blood test first to make sure it was safe to give her that. We were told to keep her from being too active, so as not to tear her knee joint, so at least for now, we can rule out surgery. We were told prices and asked to okay the procedures BEFORE they were done, and we appreciate that the doctor did that for us as well as telling us all the pro's and con's. I would highly recommend them and will let family members know as well. Read Less

Amber was accidentally poisoned when she found and chewed on an asthma inhaler and it exploded in her mouth. Thank goodness Bellwood has convenient hours and was open to help. They were fantastic. Amber's condition was so grave she was beyond the medical attention Bellwood could provide. They called the emergency clinic and ASPCA poison control for instruction. Bellwood stabilized Amber so she could be safely transported for further treatment. Amber spent the next 2 days in treatment. She fully recovered and is in perfect health today thanks to the quick action, expertise and care given by the staff at Bellwood.Read Less

I cannot recommend Bellwood more. I'm the mother of very high maintenance corgi which a chronic hormone condition - plus a knack for getting into trouble. He's my best friend and I'd never settle for less than the best in a vet. The receptionists are friendly, it's easy to get an appointment when you need one, and the entire place is clean. I've also been in "the back" a few times and everything is clean, organized, and professional - exactly how it should be. The techs are friendly but don't waste your time, and the vets are amazing. I always ask lots of questions, and when he's been hospitalized I've called multiple times a day to check on him - they've always been more than happy to help. I'm positive that my pup wouldn't be alive today if not for Dr. Laura. Very smart but explains it in layman terms, good listener, very caring - and comforts the patient and the human. She stuck by my pup and wasn't afraid to reach out to specialists when appropriate. If you're looking for the best - look no further. I took my kitty to Bellwood to get spayed on Monday this was also her first vet visit ever so nerves were getting the best us both. On a whim, I was looking for an exotic vet in the area. I knew I had drove past Bellwood a few times and vaguely remembered what the outside looked like. I went to their website and instantly knew that Dr. Spoo loved animals and knew what she was doing (call it intuition). We brought in our three rats, the two boys for a check up, and because my girl was sneezing. She was absolutely amazing. She answered my questions, she was gentle with my babies, and on top of that she knew what she was doing! A week later, I had to bring in my mouse to be euthanized and even though it was a painful experience, Dr. Spoo assured me I was doing the right thing for her. If possible, I want to one day have my entire zoo (currently 10) go to Bellwood. They seem like a wonderful place. Read Less

This was our 1st time using this vet. We changed because other place didn't do appointments in these busy days and could never get the 1 vet we loved. With broken heart we had to put to sleep our 13yr red Norwegian elkhound Nitro. They were so kind from the beginning. They took us right into a room and explained everything. This wasn't our1stbut it was helpful. We didn't know ANY of the vets. Katy Korpan came in and introduced herself. I felt we had the right Dr for us. She was so kind and caring and understood how we were feeling. One of the worst things to ever have to do!!!! She let me stay til I was ready to leave. Ilovetheotionof a paw print. Definitely!! Then when checking out one of the ladies knew why I was there and passed a note to the cashier. She was quiet and said how sorry she was. I appreciated it. I've been taking my dogs to Bellwood for several years now & have nothing but good things to say about them. The Doctors, Techs & Assistants are always kind, competent, caring & gentle. When I had to have my dog euthanized they were so compassionate & respectful of our grief & sadness. The front staff is also very competent & kind. I try to stay with the same doctor so she can get to know my dog, but whenever I get a different doctor, I always like her to, which makes it hard to decide who to choose. Read Less

Today we brought our schnauzer mix to Shane to be groomed. We were recommended to Bellwood two years ago because Bullet could not handle a regular groom and had to be sedated. Last time we brought Bullet in Shane decided to try grooming him with no sedation and was successful. Today Shane again worked his magic and Bullet was groomed successfully with no sedation. I would have never dreamed that this would happen in the beginning. I love how Shane talks about Bullet and his healing. He never says anything negative about my sometimes challenging dog. My girlfriend got a new puppy - a dachshund - and took him here for our first vet appointment with us. I mean, I've never been to an animal hospital before because I've never had a dog before, so I can't tell you if it's uber-high class, but I think their equipment was pretty top notch. They had prescription dog and cat food. They seemed to be the real deal.What blew me away was the staff. They are the nicest people and are genuinely interested in your pet's needs. Every single person who worked there thought our dog was adorable and gave him many pettings. They seem to genuinely love animals and they want what's best for your pet.Also, the place isn't HUGE, but I am not sure if animal hospitals are supposed to be huge. But, nonetheless, there were many other dogs there that seemed happy and they were all adorable and friendly! Many people go here and are satisfied, and the dogs are happy, so that's good!With our first vet visit, we got a free nail clipping, a free bottle of Frontline (to get rid of fleas) and a free Heartguard treat. They came in this neat folder with the veterinarian's card on the front, and a slot for the pet's picture. Inside, there are brochures about EVERYTHING you need to know to care for your dog. Which vaccines should be taken at what weeks and what they are, stuff about microchips, optional stuff - I haven't even read it all yet!
