Animal Medical Clinic was founded in 1987 by Dr. Cary Thompson. Under Dr. Thompson's guidance, the AMC grew to four separate locations. Located near Rockford College and Alpine Hills Golf Course, AMC serves the central Rockford area.

Animal Medical Clinic-North was founded in 1995 and is located in the former home of the Machesney Park Chamber of Commerce. Our mission is to provide high quality veterinary care for our patients and excellent service to our clients in a caring, enriching, and professional environment. Located in Machesney Park near Rock Cut State Park, AMC North serves the northern Rockford area.

Waggin' Tails offers Puppy SmartStart and Good Doggie Manners classes as well as doggie day care Monday through Friday. The retail area carries Gentle Leaders, Easy Walk Harnesses, leashes, collars, treat bags, quality treats, and a variety of veterinarian, trainer, and dog-approved toys. Waggin' Tails is conveniently located next door to the Animal Medical Clinic.
About Us
Dr. Cary Thompson founded Animal Medical Clinic in 1987. Dr. David Tanaglia joined the Clinic about one year later and became Dr. Thompson's first partner. Under their guidance the Clinic grew to four separate locations. Dr. Tanaglia has recently chosen a well-earned retirement and we are pleased and excited to announce that Dr. James Buhl has joined Dr. Thompson as partner. I love Dr. Harrison well now Dr. Jeannie she is a wonderful vet my family has known for years. She had tooken care of all are dogs. Are dog Tigger we were told with his cancer he was only gonna survive maybe a year. But luckily and thankfully we had many more years with him. I would trust her with any of my animals we adopted my dog Bailey over a year ago and she came with a surprise she was pregnant with 13 puppies and when they were born and while Bailey was still pregnant she made sure all of them were okay and healthy. I highly suggest anyone to come to this clinic. I live Dr .Harrison and all the staff they are so nice and I'm greatful for all of them .

Dr. Jeannie, Donna & the crew are wonderful. From the first day we brought our puppy in 13 & 1/2 years ago, right up to her last day with us ,they were all amazing, caring & gentle with her. It was hard to lose our baby but Dr Jeannie was wonderful & care for her like it she was one of her own while she was ill for 6 weeks. We thank everyone for their kind hearts & great care of Mattie. I would recommend this clinic to anyone & we will return to this vet with any future "kids" we have.

I have been a customer here for over 2 years, and that is why I am so disappointed at the treat I received yesterday. I was at the clinic last Monday because of an issue on my dog's paw. Not only he didn't get better in a week, but his paw was worse yesterday. I called to bring him, and I mentioned it was something going on since the week before when I was there. They asked me when I wanted to go today and I answered I needed to go yesterday. Their answer was that there were no appointments available and a simple "ok" when I said I would have to go to another place. I was satisfied with the previous visits. But this shows no care or concern at all for my pet or me as customers. They didn't even offer the option of going to other of their clinics. So I had to take him to another clinic -fortunately, there are places where you don't need appointments. And actually, I was much more satisfied at the service we had and the price they charged me. So I'm sorry, but I don't think I will be coming back again. I understand that one day might be fully booked, but not making any room for something going on for a week and saying that it got worse... Shame on a clinic that does not care at all for your pet at this situation! It wasn't a check-up or vaccinations -which can wait. It was something that got worse and had been previously checked there the week before.

Your pets are in good hands. We switched to CherryVale Animal Clinic after being dissatisfied with the staff at another vet in the area, and are SO GLAD we did! The people here are friendly, not in a rush, and the vets are super with the pets. It's a smallish place, but I've never had an issue waiting longer than my appointed time, and they know their animals here. Highly recommended place.

We have been taking our furry babies here for years and absolutely love the staff at the Cherryvale office! They treat our babies like their own! Our sweet Lily had kidney failure and the staff at Cherryvale was so incredibly supportive, helpful, and understanding while we went through the treatment process with her. They take their time, they are thorough and knowledgeable and we will never take our pets anywhere else. Love this clinic!

We just want to thank the best vet here in town. As everyone knows we lost our Riley on December 23rd. We walked into the clinic thinking she broke her back leg when in actuality she had aggressive bone cancer. Dr. Jim Buhl and his staff helped us on one of the toughest days we have faced as a family. The thoughtful card and gift basket that came this week shows that their dogs and their families are more than just a job. Thank you for your compassion and thoughtfulness.

Returning home on Christmas night I found our Beagle of almost 13 years to be not herself. Over the next four days her appetite completely ceased and by Monday morning she was having difficulty walking and breathing had become very strained. Being new to the area I said a prayer and chose to Cherryvale animal clinic. They were very considerate and got her in right away. But upon examination they discovered a massive heart murmur with fluid in the lungs and around the heart. She was in a lot of pain and after much discussion with the doctor we had to make the heartbreaking decisionTo put her down. This is the only dog our family has ever had. Words cannot express the pain we all were going through...The doctor and all the staff gave us as much time as we possibly needed even though they were terribly busy. They told us everything that was going to be done and how it would be done and gave us as much time as we needed before and after the process. They also did an imprint of her paw with her name on it for us to keep. They have since sent us two condolence cards for the loss of our dear pet. In a world where there is such indifference it was wonderful at a time of such great sorrow to find such compassion.

I love Dr. Harrison well now Dr. Jeannie she is a wonderful vet my family has known for years. She had tooken care of all are dogs. Are dog Tigger we were told with his cancer he was only gonna survive maybe a year. But luckily and thankfully we had many more years with him. Dr. Jeannie, Donna & the crew are wonderful. From the first day we brought our puppy in 13 & 1/2 years ago, right up to her last day with us ,they were all amazing, caring & gentle with her. It was hard to lose our baby but Dr Jeannie was wonderful & care for her like it she was one of her own while she was ill for 6 weeks. We thank everyone for their kind hearts & great care of Mattie. I have been a customer here for over 2 years, and that is why I am so disappointed at the treat I received yesterday. I was at the clinic last Monday because of an issue on my dog's paw. Not only he didn't get better in a week, but his paw was worse yesterday. I called to bring him, and I mentioned it was something going on since the week before when I was there. Your pets are in good hands. We switched to CherryVale Animal Clinic after being dissatisfied with the staff at another vet in the area, and are SO GLAD we did! The people here are friendly, not in a rush, and the vets are super with the pets. It's a smallish place, but I've never had an issue waiting longer than my appointed time, and they know their animals here. Highly recommended place.

We just want to thank the best vet here in town. As everyone knows we lost our Riley on December 23rd.
