My family has always taken our dogs to this vet. The staff is very friendly and you can tell they have a genuine love for the animals. The veterinarians are always very nice, patient, and do a great job explaining what's going on. Also, the staff do a fantastic job clipping my rabbits nails! He doesn't like being picked up so it's too challenging for me to do alone, but the vet techs are amazing about holding him so he doesn't hurt himself. I really appreciate them for that :) Read Less

I switched from my long time vet to this one due to location based on many recommendations from local Facebook groups and Yelp reviews. Since we've only had 1 visit so far, I can't say much about how caring the doctors are but the vet that saw my dog was extremely nice and didn't rush me. I wish she had read my dog's medical records more thoroughly before the exam though, since she said she would give him a vaccine that I had gotten last year that lasts 3 years. When I mentioned that, she looked at his records and said "you're right!"I tried to call for a boarding inquiry this morning and I can see why this place gets less than stellar reviews on Yelp and from Facebook recommendations on the front office staff. I don't mind that the office isn't updated or modern looking (it doesn't smell so that's a plus!) but at the very least, don't cut off your patients/customers while they are speaking and just put them on hold. Most places will ask "Can you hold" first before cutting you off.I guess having good customer service both in-person and over the phone is too much to ask these days! The vets are awesome! However, this review is about Cathy the front desk clerk. Upon walking in the door, she doesn't even acknowledge you. She is unprofessional, rude, inappropriate, and verbally abuses the whole staff!! I've been witness to it! She blames others for her mistakes, even the Vets, and shares it with clients. She truly left me on hold for over 10 minutes, it happens often. She berates Katie and has her running ragged! I saw her berate a client about not paying his bill, in front of everyone, only to find she was at fault! I was a long time client and my dogs were seen by Dr Fetzer and Dr Ernat. I have a new pet but can't return to this facility due to Cathy, and her alone! Her behavior is like that of a childish tyrant! Dr Donald Holst, DVM, is the business owner. He's seldom seen and that's too bad! If he observed only half of what I've seen he'd be shocked! I hope Dr Holst realizes what's going on when he's away! I'd love to return to this vet hospital, but won't put up with Cathys behavior! I highly recommend a different Vet hospital!! Read Less

The entire staff at APVH is extremely caring and personable. Over the nearly six years that I brought Meryl here, we got to know them all pretty well. They took excellent care of my dog during his fairly healthy years and during his nearly year long battle with kidney failure. When we moved out of the area, they even gave us am excellent referral. I need to have house calls for my 16 year old dog who is too scared to leave the house.  A practice I had been with for 30 years refused to do house calls, so I switched to Arlington Park Veterinary Hospital - and I wish I had switched to them 30 years ago!  They are wonderful.  Dr. Mottonen, all the vet techs and the office staff are very friendly and compassionate - and patient.  They always make sure they have answered all your questions.  The prices are very reasonable and you never feel they are pushing unnecessary services.  I highly recommend Arlington Park Veterinary Hospital and always tell my friends about them. No complain with the staff they are very accommodating, but did not help my canine friend at all. Brought him there 4 times and 5 phone calls but still have the same problem and now getting worse. Don't have a steady job, so medication, consultation, laboratory test and more medication but did not help my friend at all is a disappointment for us. Read Less

Our cat was very sick. When I called they asked if I could come over right then. When we got there the girls up front were do very nice and empathetic. We were taken back right away and within a few minutes the doctor was examining our sweetie. She took him back, gave him IV fluids and prescribed an antibiotic. Everyone was so nice and professional. Definitely the most caring vets I have ever worked with. Yes, it's true that the interior of the office isn't brand, spanking new and sparkling. That's because the vets care more about taking care of their patients than having a posh-looking office. I have been to high tech, squeaky clean places but I prefer the kindness of the people here. It's obvious they truly love animals. The staff can sometimes seem rude until you get to know them and realize that they as well as the doctors care about you and your pets. The short, blond girl that some people complained about noticed that I was upset one day and she tried very hard to help and comfort me. The bad ratings are a shame, because this is truly an exceptional veterinary practice. I'm glad I found it. Read Less

Ok, I never write reviews but I have to sadly say I am disappointed. I have to say I've never seen such RUDENESS at a vets place. I had high hopes for this clinic but the the short blondish lady that is a receptionist and also helps in other ways is EXTREMELY RUDE and unhelpful.I am always nice and with her I try to be extra nice but nope, that doesn't  help... it is sad.I took a friend with me there once and he was in shock about the receptionist - he said, wow why are you putting up with this... when he saw how the receptionist got frustrated and rude because I ask her for my pet older records and then just a regular question.Also in my experience whenever you have a question, etc you call your vet and the receptionist always takes your message and asks for you to the vet or the vet technician but not here... She gets annoyed and rude. That has been my experience time and time again. I don't think I am  going back here because of that reason... also my friend said he wouldn't take his dig there... (he was shopping for vets back then).other: I noticed this place is not as clean as other places but I was ok with it, last time the smell was too much for me I had to step outside while waiting because I felt I was gonna you know what.  And well this is my personal opinion based on the times I have been here. I called last minute for an emergency just before closing but the receptionist could tell how concerned I was and had me come right in. Although my dog is 15 years old DR Melissa Mottonen showed so much compassion for my special girl . She treated us both with the utmost respect and concern . This place exceeded my expectations. I called in the morning and was able to get in the same day with my sick guinea pig, Sugar. We saw Dr. Ernat, and he was excellent. He was kind, empathetic, and handled my guinea pig with care. I was worried she might not survive the week, but Dr. Ernat prescribed antibiotics (Bactrim), and she is doing great. I honestly don't think she would have recovered if we hadn't seen Dr. Ernat, and my kids would have been devastated. I wouldn't hesitate to return. Read Less

... Yes, 5 stars! We had a great veterinarian in Chicago, but now we have found the best veterinarian I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We brought in our two dogs, Holly and Jack, as first time clients today. Our experience was incredible. We arrived about 10 minutes early, only got a glance at the waiting area and were immediately ushered into an exam room (we didn't even get to step toward the waiting area. And, no, this was not a walk-in nor an emergency visit. Every staff member came to see Holly and Jack. Holly even had a very disturbing, bloody accident on the floor and the only thing I saw in any of the staff's eyes was genuine concern.Dr. Mottonen was very thorough, calm and not playing the part of a "sales lady". I owned up to our dogs' poor dental health and anticipated the usual guilt trip (we could never afford the dental cleanings at our previous vet) ... Only no guilt trip came. Dr. Mottonen heard out every concern and worry and even conducted some tests there at the clinic right away. She is incredibly friendly and certainly patient with the client owners (let's face it, a veterinarian's job would be easier at times if the humans weren't there). The prices at this vet's office are absolutely manageable. I'm excited by the prospect of actually having Holly and Jack's teeth cleaned in the near future. For as long as we are in Arlington Heights or the surrounding area, Arlington Park Veterinary Hospital will be our veterinarian office of choice; a BIG weight off of my mind as my "baby" Holly-girl is now 13 years old. Arlington Park Veternary Hospital has been caring for my families dogs since the '80's and they continue to do an amazing job.  I moved away from Rolling Meadows about 8 years ago and as much as I did not want to I changed vets. I went through 3 vets before I finally gave up and went back to Arlington Park even though it was almost an hour out of the way.  Their personal care for the animals and their well being is something lost on most vets today.  While animal care is never cheap, nor should it be, Arlington Park is much more fairly priced than some of the vets I experience after my move.  I remember I spent more on spring shots for my dog 2 years in a row than my girlfriend spends on vaccinating her horse.  They have cared for 4 of my own dogs in the past as well as my current dog and would not hesitate to refer a friend to them. This is a great Vet!!  Their vets on staff are very knowledgeable and caring, and their prices are reasonable.  I have a dog that has a black cloud over him and constantly has issues and he has been treated here several times.  Each time we have gone, they have cured Oscars issues and it didn't break the bank to treat him.  Best vet in the area. We brought my dog kendi in, my mom called last minute and asked if they had time to see us. They were very accommodating and told us to come in. We filled out paperwork and saw the doctor within 10 minutes. The doctor came in and asked us why we came in, he checked her for fleas (shes been really itchy for the past two weeks) he said that she may have a secondary skin infection and prescribed her antibiotics. We also mentioned that she smells after a few days of getting a bath! He gave us a special shampoo for her also that helps with her oily skin.This place was great, my mom said the bill wasnt as expensive as other vets in the area. Read Less

If you love your animal, take them somewhere else. First, the people here are so crabby. And it isn't a one time I'm having a bad hair day crabby, it is ALL the time. I dread even calling here and having to talk to them. Second, they are not good at all with big dogs. I'm not even sure the vet likes dogs, but he definitely doesn't like my big dogs.  We have 3 big dogs and they have managed to make 2 of them cry out in pain due to inadequate lifting techniques. They hurt my male, who already had a horribly sore back from (we think) falling down the stairs, by not having enough people to lift him up on the xray machine (he is 145 lbs.) and refusing my help.  They also hurt one of my girls (who has two fake knees after tearing both ACLs - a fact which they are well aware of) by trying to lift her up onto the table to express her glands. It is COMPLETELY unnecessary to get her on a table to do this, she does perfectly fine standing on the ground and you do not lift a 110 lb. dog unless necessary. Also, one time when they took her back for blood work, etc. they cut her nails without even asking me. Now, I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but we much prefer to take care of her nails on our own.  Her quicks are long, and if you aren't familiar with her then you are going to cut to her quick - which they did. If they had simply taken 2 seconds to ask me if I wanted her nails done I would have politley replied no. We go to Deer Grove now and are much happier with Dr. Lang.! Read Less
