This was my first time and last time at this vet. I was looking for a new primary vet. When I spoke with the vet tech, I informed her that I wanted my dog to have a 3 year rabies. When Dr. VanDerWal walked into the room she stated she was going to get the vaccination for him. As she was giving it to him she told me it was the 1 year and I told her (trying to contain how furious I was) that he was supposed to get the 3 year rabies. She then continued to tell me because he was past due on his rabies, that per the law they are required to give him another 1 year. I have done so much research about over vaccinating, which vets do all the time rather than educating whats best for their pet. Since my appointment, I have spoken to multiple vets and they stated they have not heard such a "law" that would confirm her reasoning besides being a possible location decision. Great staff and service here; I trust them completely with my beagle and they give special attention to animals that have procedures and spend extended time here. Only downsides are there usually is a wait a little beyond your scheduled time and they're not inexpensive. Read Less

Our dog needed surgery and Dr. Kotev was wonderful. He keep us well informed on how the surgery went and called to tell us in person the results. Will no longer take my pets here. Had 2 dogs and one cat. Paid for Paw plans on all 3. My one dog Jaxx had accounting error done on him at end of his Paw plan. We were billed again. Ok we wanted to get his rabies and distemperment. Told we had plan until end of April so make an appt to have these done before it expired. I come in on 4/26th at 15 until 1pm and wait 25 mins then bought in and asked simple questions about Jaxx. Then I asked to make Paw plan covered everything he begins to tell me it expired last month. Called wife she talked to him and explained the situation. He talked to front desk says plan expired. You people need to get your act together. We come to you for over 3 years and I guess we are liars now? Nice way to try and get us to come in and charge us I walked straight out. What a joke of a business. Read Less

This has been by far the best experience I have ever had while taking my furbaby to the Doctor. Great friendly staff. I was amazed how the whole staff cared and attended to my Rogue. Had an emergency on a one hour old pug puppy on 8/31/16 and my usual vet office was not available due to a 2 hour lunch break. Contacted Lake Street Animal Hospital and received the best and most professional and caring attention. Waiting for my arrival and immediately took puppy for evaluation. I authorized surgery which is very difficult and risky on a pup only an hour old. Pup came through and looked great. Surgery was to amputate right fore leg that the mom had chewed off. Pup came home and nursed and was doing well and made it through the night. Unfortunately the mother culled the pup along with another pup which was the runt of the litter of 7 pugs when my husband turned his back for a moment. Even though our pup that we named Sloan for Warrior Fighter is no longer with us I have nothing but praise for the Doctors and staff at Lake Street Animal Hospital. Because of this wonderful experience of being a non client in this emergency situation I will be giving Lake Street Animal Hospital all my future business in caring for my 5 remaining pups along with the parents, my other dog which is a lab and bengal cat. PLEASE If you have a cat with a urinary problem DO NOT BRING YOUR KITTY HERE....my cat was put thru hell by these Drs x2/ 2 hospitalizations within 30 days and was still sick and said the only cure was a sex change!!! The problem was a urinary tract infection that never was completely cleared up by them. All my kitty needed was extended antibiotics to COMPLETELY clear up infection. Another clinic cured his infection and kitty has been fine for going on 2yrs now with NO special diet or anything. These Dr are not at all thorough and do not make the correct decisions regarding your pets care. Lake Street Animal Hospital is by far the best, friendliest, most hospitable animal hospital I have ever been to. Every employee here is so kind and caring it amazes me. The reception team is so much more than a reception team. I only started going there a few months back and they know me and my dog, George by first name. I walk in and we both seem right at home. Dr. Bowman is the doctor we see and she is the best. You can tell how caring and sweet she is. She has done wonders for George. Her caring professionalism cannot be matched. The staff works with you on everything. They continue to go above and beyond for both our beloved pets and their customers. I currently live in Itasca but even if I were to move back into the city I would definitely make the commute to bring George to his and my favorite animal hospital. I'm sure this will get deleted but I would never recommend this place. I loved Lisa the groomer and the doctors but the office staff lacks professionalism. My personal information was shared and I have been waiting for a call back from the office manager Vicki for 3 weeks now. 4 messages later and still nothing. Very disappointing. I don't just love it, Dirks (our boxer) loves it! All the girls at the desk are super friendly and the vets are very honest and professional. They don't just try to nickel and dime you, and they've always taken great care of Dirks! I did a ton of research when we first got our boxer because I wouldn't trust just anyone with him.
