Let me start by saying how grateful I am to Dr. Hartmann and Valley Lakes Veterinary Clinic, they genuinely care about my pups and have shown me that for the past 10 years.
One of my pups was living with glaucoma pain for 2 years, the cost of the animal eye care specialist was overwhelming and eye removal was really the only option and could not afford. Dr. Hartmann offered to perform his surgery at 1/4 of the cost I was quoted and this is why my pup is now pain free of daily “migraine” headaches. He is now the happiest pup ever!
I am so thankful and appreciative for the care my 3 pups have always received at Valley Lakes Veterinary Clinic. Truly makes a difference when your pet is genuinely cared for.

I've been taking my Bengal kitty Laila here since I adopted her in 2009. Dr. Hartmann is awesome and Tara is great. They've taken great care of Laila and I know she's in good hands. They discovered her issues with crystals in her urine and got her right on track again in no time. She even had some dental surgery and everything went well.Getting her in, even at the last minute, isn't an issue. The place is clean and very professional. Definitely recommend.

We started going to Valley Lakes approximately 4 years ago as a means to go to a local vet rather than travel so far the vet we had currently been at. We've been very happy there ever since and feel confident with the care and treatments that is given to our dogs. They've always squeezed us in with emergencies and even those "not so emergency visits", yet as a pet owner, really feel we need to have our pet seen. Last year we had to put one of our dogs down and Dr. Hartman and the staff were extremely professional, gracious and genuinely compassionate with that whole process. Would highly recommend VLVC if you're looking for great Veterinary care!
So to all of you at Valley Lakes, Dr. Hartman, Tara and Valerie....thanks for all your great care and affection for our dogs...you rock!! And a special shout out to Tara for all her extra suggestions and advice for our dogs. You're the bomb! :)

I can't praise Dr Hartman and his staff enough. My Cairn had a broken toe that led to no circulation in her foot. Dr Hartman came in everyday (even Sat / Sun AND through a blizzard) so he could do hydrotherapy & change bandages to save her foot. He went above and beyond what I expected him to do. I am happy to say that although she did have to have 2 toes amputated the rest of the foot was saved. You would never know she had a problem, she doesn't even have a limp. Everyone there is friendly, happy and professional. I would recommend them to EVERYONE & I have!

These guys are the best in all of lake county and surrounding areas. They are extremely compassionate, on-time, have flexible hours and have a clean facility. Dr. Hartman and staff treat you and your pet like family and you always know your pet is getting the best possible care and recommendations available. We've been to many clinics over the years and Valley Lakes is, without question the best. As soon as you meet Dr. Hartman you know he is a true compassionate animal lover and he understands your concerns and how you feel as well as what is best for your animal. Many vets come across as a bit cold and "Doctor-like" but Dr. Hartman is a great person first and foremost and also a damn good vet on top of it all. Valley Lakes Veterinary Clinic is what all veterinary clinics should strive to become. Compassionate, attentive, and not so large that it's difficult to develop great relationships with their customers. The team at Valley Lakes know and remember our animals and their quirks and don't just treat them like another number on the wall. They also provide online records of your pets (for free) via their pet portal website as well as list the medications they're on and have been prescribed. If your pet requires veterinary foods, you may also order them directly from their website and have them shipped to your house. Dr. Hartman will approve your prescription orders without an office visit. What more could you possibly ask for!? We can not recommend them highly enough. You will not be disappointed

Very nice staff, clean, and very professional. Always got excellent care for my two dogs. Dr Hartman was always very thorough and knowledgeable. We were never kept waiting for appointments. When I had to put my dog down, they were very compassionate and even gave me a plaster cast of my dog's paw to remember him and also sent us a condolences card. Both were a complete surprise and was incredibly thoughtful for them to do. Once they learned I was moving out of state from just a comment I made in passing, they emailed me my one dog's medical records to take with me. I would have no problem recommending Valley Lakes Veterinary Clinic to anyone.

Dr Hartman at Valley Lakes really takes the time to explain the details about your pet's health. He is an animal lover and really cares about each and every animal that comes to him! And the best part it....when you schedule an appointment...you don't have to wait 2 hours to see the doctor in a waiting room with other animals that are all making each other more nervous! It's a very soothing, clean, state of the art facility! I will NOT take my pets anywhere else!!

We started going to Valley Lakes approximately 4 years ago as a means to go to a local vet rather than travel so far the vet we had currently been at. We've been very happy there ever since and feel confident with the care and treatments that is given to our dogs. I can't praise Dr Hartman and his staff enough. My Cairn had a broken toe that led to no circulation in her foot. Dr Hartman came in everyday (even Sat / Sun AND through a blizzard) so he could do hydrotherapy & change bandages to save her foot. He went above and beyond what I expected him to do. I am happy to say that although she did have to have 2 toes amputated the rest of the foot was saved. You would never know she had a problem, she doesn't even have a limp. Everyone there is friendly, happy and professional. I would recommend them to EVERYONE & I have!

Dr. Hartman and staff treat you and your pet like family and you always know your pet is getting the best possible care and recommendations available. We've been to many clinics over the years and Valley Lakes is, without question the best. As soon as you meet Dr. Hartman you know he is a true compassionate animal lover and he understands your concerns and how you feel as well as what is best for your animal. Very nice staff, clean, and very professional. Always got excellent care for my two dogs. Dr Hartman was always very thorough and knowledgeable. We were never kept waiting for appointments. My sister and I have both had bad experiences at this clinic. One was a very serious misdiagnosis and lack of treatment that was very painful and expensive to treat elsewhere. The other was an ineffective treatment plan that left the animal in the same condition. Clean, yes. Easy to keep clean when you have no clients.
