Today was my first visit. I called this hospital at 545 and they were able to get me in at 6! Their prices are AMAZING, and their building is BEAUTIFUL. We've been coming here for the past couple years for a LOT of different, random things -- booster shots, a broken toe, a bad gastrointestinal virus that required overnight hospitalization, etc. They have a number of vets who work here and we've probably met them all! But no matter who helps us, they are always kind, thorough, and take time with me and my dog. But our guy is Dr Hafeez. We all love him . He is amazing and very helpfulThe receptionists and other staff members are also very sweet and put us at ease whenever we come in. The facility is also very clean and nicely designed. It doesn't have that "hospital" vibe really at all. Getting an appointment is also quite easy and we are usually able to be seen same-day if we call in the morning. They're good with animals and won't give you a hard time if you're not an animal expert like some vets do! "Disappointing" is a charitable description for this office. Their negligence almost killed my friend's cat. It had a string wrapped around it's tongue that "doctor" Hafeez somehow missed despite having checked inside her mouth. As a result he ended up taking an unnecessary blood test and charged her out the ass for it. We took it for a second opinion at Lakes Animal Clinic because the cat still wasn't eating, drinking going to the bathroom (or moving at all really), and we weren't convinced that she would recover on her own like Hafeez told us. They found the string immediately and took care of it. My friend had to call the place 3 times to get the results of the blood test (and at this point it was just an precaution) and when the results were finally in she was told by the secretary that Hafeez had said that her cat had an infection and needed a ton of antibiotics. Is this starting to sound familiar to the other 1 star reviews yet? So my friend took the results to Lakes and asked to of the vets what they made of the blood test results, and wouldn't you know it? They said the results were normal. That's when we realized what a scam Round Lake Animal Hospital is. My friend confronted them and got her money for the blood test back. They're open on SUNDAYS 9-1! So when my cats invariably get sick over the weekend I don't have to drop hundreds at the emergency clinic. Their new facility is beautiful, the staff is kind, and they have a battery of rotating vets who seem very knowledgeable and compassionate. And they are cost-conscious and reasonable! Try to keep this short. My 3 adult daughter's and myself all have dogs. For many years we all went to Mundelein Animal Hospital as did a few friends. My daughter's dog was 5 1/2, Mundelein vet was seeing dog for at least a year testing and trying to figure out diagnosis (multiple texting visits) to no avail. My daughter decided to try a different vet, she was desperate for answers. Her first visit was with Dr. Hafeez. He"LISTENED " to my daughter regarding the challen...ging past year for her dog. Dr. Hafeez diagnosed the dog before he ever touched dog. Dr. Wanted to do simple blood test to confirm. Next day informed diagnosis, started med and almost instantly was showing improvement. Today she is normal. To think we went for previous vet for many years and all the tests previous vet did, they never checked thyroid. My other daughter's and myself switched immediately to Dr. Hafeez beginning of 2017. Today in for a follow up, shared my 7 year old has been less avtive, and occasionally her stumbles. Again, within 2 minutes after feeling his legs, told me was pain. Right hip he stated was hurting him and right shoulder seemed tense, possibly due to an unknown injury. Gave her pain meds and off we went. Dr. Haveez is very astute in observing dogs and listens to owner when explaining symptoms I would assume all vets there are good but Dr. Hafeez is WONDERFUL . Very attentive to owner and dog. I would never want my dog, my best friend go to any other vet. In addition, their pricing is not high like many places. My first experience with Dr. Hafeez at Round Lake Animal Hospital was for my dog's spay procedure; she was 8-months-old at the time in January of 2016.  The procedure went well, so I decided to continue bringing my dog to Dr. Hafeez.  Throughout the course of the past year and a half, I have made many visits to the Round Lake Animal Hospital.  My dog had another surgery done in November 2016 by Dr. Hafeez to remove some fatty tissue by her front left leg.  Again, the procedure went well and I was happy with the results.  I moved to Arlington Heights in July 2017, but I refuse to change my dog's veterinarian because I am thoroughly pleased with Dr. Hafeez and the services he provides.  Every time that I bring my dog in, he does a great job with her and really gets to the root of any problem she is having.  I will take my dog to Dr. Hafeez for as long as I can, because I think he is a great, honest, and reliable veterinarian.ALSO... it should be known that all of the ladies working at the front desk are awesome.  They are always so friendly on the phone and in person.  They are willing to help with anything and are extremely easy to talk to and ask questions. Our first experience with Dr. Hafeez and the staff at RLAH was in an emergency situation with one of our cats. Dr. Hafeez understood my worries after experiencing issues in treatment from a different vet in the area. He was kind and respectful in shifting my attention to focusing on the now in treating our cat in order to move forward in treating her accordingly. His urgent and attentive care, along with empathy and care from his staff, makes RLAH stand out above the rest. We have now taken our remaining pets to them and must say we feel absolutely comfortable going to them for all of our pets healthcare needs. We have met with a few of the other doctors as well and the service has been outstanding.The prices of all services and medications are very reasonable. For major service (overnight medical stays, urgent care, etc.), you will receive an estimate. We were never overcharged for anything beyond what they communicated to us. Everything is explained/reviewed with you in detail. By the way, if you're pet has to stay overnight you are given the option to visit them whenever and for however long you want to. With that said, I would give consideration to how busy they might be and the need for rooms before visiting, but personally I never experienced a problem in visitation. They also offer boarding and grooming. I'll update this review once we have utilized those services.My only recommendation would be to add a function to the website to allow access to pet records with the ability to set up email/text messaging reminders for when their shots are due. I brought my dog in to get her nails clipped. When the vet walked in, I asked one question about her leg, and he charged me an extra $50 for his bad advice. Without even looking at it, he told me she had a torn  ACL, and needed immediate surgery-- my dog walks fine, but occasionally she limps, maybe once per month. That didn't make any sense to me, so i thanked him and declined surgery, and for the next 15 minutes, I was lectured about how If I don't put her in surgery, she's going to die. I'm 26, I'm not a vet, but I'm also not thick. I'm well aware that nobody dies from a torn ACL, and I also understand that if my dog had a torn ACL, she wouldn't be able to walk. All in all, I had a horrible experience. I felt like they were trying to make extra money, $3000 to be exact, and were not looking out for mine or my dogs interest. Well Sophie went right back to her lethargic, vomiting self on Saturday and I was concerned because I knew they were going to have to do exploratory surgery on the Abdomen because that was what they were going to do at the other place until Sophie bounced back. I knew I couldn't afford a high priced animal hospital and was desperate. So I went to Yelp and emailed dozens of area vet places on a Saturday night looking for something reasonable. Most did not respond and the few that did were expensive on the weekend as most are, with the exception of ONE. This wonderful place and a man named Dr. Rana Hafeez. He massaged me back and forth late in the evening on Saturday and was compassionate, caring, and reasonably priced and told me to call and come into their office that Sunday. I called the next day and came in promptly. They helped me with my dog for the day to get her fluids and meds to get her ready for surgery and knew exactly what it might be and felt it in her abdomen. Where the other veterinarian place was clueless. On that Monday I took Sophie in for her surgery. When surgery was started in was called and told that my dog had tumors on her Liver and Intestines. That their was no hope of survival beyond a month. I did what any person who care about their dog and put her to sleep and not let her suffer anymore. I can honestly say that from the very beginning all the way til the end the whole staff from top to bottom is and are extremely professional, caring, honest, and VERY compassionate. To top it all off they are reasonably priced. Dr. Rana Hafeez made this all possible from the very beginning. He is the genuine article of a caring, loving, compassionate veterinarian. I was introduced to Dr. Hafeez in 2008 as I moved across the street with my 9 yr old Shih Tzu, Gizmo. My guy had allergy issues but otherwise was in top notch health. I appreciated Doc's interpersonal skills, knowledge  as well as his reasonable costs. I moved in 2010 to Chicago but would still take my guy in when time allowed. I was amazed at the health of Giz but in the spring of 2013 a tumor began to grow on his stomach. In mid June of that year he got sick and I knew I had to see Dr. Hafeez. Giz didn't look good, had a high fever,  and Doc immediately said he's 14 and this is how it sometimes ends, but he requested an immediate blood test to confirm things.The test came back A ok and Doc immediately added that he will give him 2 shots and the temperature should come down within 5 mins. Presto, Doc was right and the fever was retreating. He sent me home with various meds and my guy transformed the next day, it was unbelievable. I saw my established vet in Chicago to get his nails cut and she reviewed the hospital record. She complimented Doc and said he covered all potential secondary infections and she hadn't thought of one drug he prescribed, she was impressed and removed the tumor under Dr. Hafeez's request. Doc understood the importance of  the closeness of a hospital following surgery and said to get it done close by.  He just stressed to have it removed ASAP.My favorite movie quote is from "Creed"-"Time is undefeated". In late summer of 2015 my friend developed a collapsed trachea and began having some cognitive issues. I would see Doc and contact him but January of 2016 proved that time was running out. Doc once again was honest and said the end is near, I was aware of this but I appreciated Doc and his dismissal of running any tests/xrays or blood work.He also made me feel good by telling me anything over 13 is really old for a dog generally and Giz was a few months short of 17. Well Feb. 1 was the worst day of my life  but I had to say goodbye and give my friend dignity and not wait until the very end.  I wasn't able to make the drive to Round Lake but I went to a veterinarian, Dr. Sharma, in Melrose Park-and can you believe it's owned by Dr. Hafeez. The other day my cat had a medical emergency and I wanted to take him to the vet ASAP. Our vet was over 15 minutes away so I looked up the nearest vet to my house. This was my first time at Round Lake Animal Hospital. My dearly loved cat had to be put to sleep after only 10 minutes of arriving at the animals hospital. This was all such a shock! I was alone and cried for what seemed like forever as I said goodbye to my best friend. The doctors and nurses were awesome during this difficult time. I kept hearing "we are so sorry" "I am so sorry" and I felt the compassion. They truly we're sorry for me and for my cat. They took into consideration my cats wellbeing and health. They wanted the least amount of pain for him as did I. This is such a respectful group of individuals! I came in as an emergency and they took my boy right away! First met them when my German Shepherd had bone cancer in her left hind tibia. They charged only $1500 for amputation (including meds and follow ups, until full recovery was accomplished). Other Vets were quoting 4500 for only the surgery. That was June 2015... We beat the cancer, and I've had Stasia for nearly 8 years, and she's about 10-11 now. She's doing great. All thanks to these guys. We use them for everything now and couldn't imagine using another Vet. They know who we are when we come in, and are very friendly. It's a great staff here. Finding reasonably priced and trustworthy healthcare provider for your family members is very tricky.  Shortly after we moved to the area in 2012, our cat had a health emergency.  We called around to find someone reasonably priced yet, skilled.  The cost/value is what brought us in as patients, but his ability and demeanor is why we stay and why we recommend to friends/family.  As soon as we met Dr Hafeez, we were immediately relaxed and knew our kitty was in good hands.  He treated her infection and she was back to normal very quickly.  Since that time, we adopted a couple retired, racing greyhounds - one of which is very accident prone.  Dr Hafeez soothes my anxiety every single time there is an issue beyond my scope of "nursing" capabilities and he is ALWAYS very considerate about the costs.  No one expects a medical emergency for their family member but with greyhounds, sometimes there are more "incidents" than not, and it can get VERY costly.  We always know we are getting the best care for our money.  I would recommend Dr Hafeez over and over. It's almost a hour drive to bring my cat for grooming or veterinary care, but it is worth it. They know that she is "moody" but they are patient and careful with her. Being someone that grew up with lots of pets I have had a lot of experiences with veterinary clinics in the area.  Round lake animal hospital is hands down the most phenomenal clinic I've ever dealt with. Dr. Hafeez is a brilliant and compassionate doctor, I've been a client of his die over 5 years and I have always been very happy with the services he offers. The pricing is very fair. That being said, this is not the reason I continue to call them for all my pets needs.  He cares about my pets.  My dog ate a towel when he was a pup. The emergency vet that I went to when round lake was closed told me that surgery was necessary.  I asked if the pup would be safe to wait overnight and they said he would be ok. The following day I brought him to Dr. Hafeez and he wanted to avoid surgery if at all possible. He crossed his fingers and gave my pup a baruim treatment (which also allowed him to see in an image what exactly was going on) and low and behold my dog passed the towel!  He saved me thousands of dollars on surgery. He isn't in it just for the money. He's a wonderful man and I've always counted on him for any questions.  Please, if you're looking for a good vet, give this place a shot. I give 4 stars because I'm partial to my retired vet.  With that said, this is the place we will be staying with.  They are very accommodating when you need an appointment a.s.a.p.  Unless they're dealing with an emergency, your office wait time is reasonably quick.  They give you an estimate before performing procedures.  For the 5 years we've been going here, the prices have only increased on medications and not for more than any other local office.  No one there, has jacked up any of our fees.  Their skills are pretty darn good too and they will be honest about prognosis and a plan of action.  We have no complaints. I have multiple pets in my household and recently moved.  I brought in my dog for a try to see if they were any good, since they are close to my house.  WOW!  At first, I was thinking, they might be okay but by the next visit, I found out they are all about jacking up the fees as high as they can!Second Visit - they called to get me back in because my dog need his booster shot for the flu vaccine.  When they heard he got sick while being boarded at their 'sister' vet hospital in Spring Grove, they wanted to see him ASAP, even though he could not get the shot nor was he finished taking his meds the other location gave me.  I said no, there is no reason, except to charge me for an office visit.When I went in to get the boost shot, they asked if he still had a cough, and I said a little one after he wakes up, but not always and he is no longer spitting up mucus.  The vet said they will give him an anti-inflammatory shot and since he does not feel comfortable giving him the booster, they will not charge me for this visit....FYI - they never charge a for a doctor visit for a booster shot.  So, I left ready to pay for the shot, and there was another dog in the waiting room and he coughed because he was pulling to get at the other dog and his lease was tight.  He is still young and happens all the time!The vet calls me back in, prescribes FOUR more meds for him, for 10 days even after I told him why my dog coughed!    I get the bill.... $182 and they charged for the office visit!  They turned a $42 visit into $182!  When I brought it up... they shrugged their should and said, the vet said to charge.In total - nearly $500 in less then a month, not including the sister vet!  I do not like a vet that does NOT listed to the owner, who is KNOWS the dog OR tossing my money into the wind! I am so thankful I found Round Lake Animal Hospital. As a new pet owner over the last year, both Dr. Hafeez and the other doctor have become an invaluable resource for our family. I've seen both doctors -- both are patient and take the time to explain every step and procedure that comes with having a puppy. They always schedule our appointment within a day or two (or day-of if you're scared or have an emergency) and provide out-patient advice when possible in order to save you money. The staff are just as warm and sweet, offering plenty of pats, rubs and treats once your animal enters the office. The staff at the front desk is lovely and also a wealth of helpful advice over the phone and in the office! Perhaps the most telling sign: my dog Rosie loves visiting Dr. Hafeez. The minute we turn down the block, Rosie pulls me 400 yards to the office. Considering she has had surgery and all her shots here, I trust this is indicative of the level of care she receives from Dr. Hafeez and team. What a lovely place. I recently moved to the area and brought my 15-year old little cat here when she suddenly stopped eating. it turned out she was gravely ill and didn't have very long to live. It was a really sad experience to lose my dear cat, but the professional approach, genuine concern and "beyond the call of duty" helpfulness -from every single staff member I dealt with at Round Lake Animal Hospital- made the experience so much easier than it might have been in another circumstance. This doctor is not knowledgeable. I question how he received his license to practice animal medicine. He recently treated my 6 yr. old cat by pumping her up with steroids and antibiotics. She had a cat cold and was vomiting from all the strong medication he gave her for chest congestion. She totally stopped eating and could have died. I gave her homeopathic medicine and lysine and she is now doing well. He may pretend to be caring, but he is in it for the money. I paid almost $400 for office visits and medication which were ineffective and harmful. Read Less

Twice I have had to make an appointment same day and then a Sunday. They were able to fit us in both times. I really like that they don't try to push unnecessary testing and the prices seem reasonable. They are also happy to let you know costs before they run tests and other things.Update: My only criticism, honestly we were about to get a second opinion because he was getting terribly worse after starting treatment, but my cat ended up passing.  I am not necessarily blaming them, however we did not get a condolence call and they sent a pre-printed card that was about euthanizing our pet, which was not what happened. I took Buddy to this Vet at Roundlake Animal Hospital because he was showing signs of lameness and was always in pain Buddy is 6 years old German Sheppard and a very loving dog this Vet Dr Hafeez at Round Lake Animal Hospital diagnosed buddy with hip dysplasia and because of that he had lameness and arthritis they gave him medications and because of their effort Buddy has no problem playing and going for walks. Max is a fun loving dog and since past few months I noticed him walking slow, he stopped playing and was always laying down and was always in pain so I took him to Round Lake Animal Hospital and they diagnosed him with Osteoarthritis and put him on medication and in a short period of time Max is back to his normal being and the Vet there Dr Hafeez is very caring and professional. that is the best place , i ever seen . Dr. Hafeez is the best vet I ever have in my life. He is not greedy like other quakes. he saved a life of pather (my little buddy). Pather is my life .I could not even imagine if something happened to him , how could I live. on Sunday , 6:00a.m Pather was vomiting like a motor . I called Dr. Hafeez, he was definitely sleeping. He came to hospital in really casual dress, Ireally liked that how someone could leave like that for the life of animal. god bless him , he is great. it was needle stuck on the back of tongue . He gave anesthesia in front of me and removed needle. pather was under anesthetic . I told him that If he would not mind , Iliked to wait . he was doing his things as soon as Pather came out a little bit , I took him home . Pather was back to normal in couple hrs . I would like say that Round Lake Animal hospital is the worst place to take your pet. unless you want your pet to die. My dog was diagnosed with pyometra and she was put on antibiotics for a week and a half and scheduled for surgery on oct 31, well i found my dog dead on the morning of oct 29 2011 today, When i took her to the emergency clinic they told with pyometra (uterus infection) surgery is requied immediately and shouldnt of been post poned for a week 1/2 later. i was trying to get a hold of the dr with the so called non emergency phone # which has no voice mail box set up and no one answered i had to leave a voice mail on the regular line and hope that someone would check it before monday. well tcome to find out he dr was out of town all week so that is exactly why he scheduled it for that day because if the infection that she had was so severe why didnt he tell me to go else where because it needed to be done immediately and he couldnt do it til a week and half later. the way i see it they dont care about the pets and are only concerned about the money. This place is amazing, and the best vet I ever took my dog to. I wish we still lived in the area. My dog is 15 years old, and has gotten the best care from this place, hands down.We recently moved over an hour away, and my husband took my dog to a vet in the area today, she has a UTI and we needed more cough medicine for her. Needless to say, they were friggin TERRIBLE and I ended up calling Round Lake Animal Hospital for help. Dr. Hafeez was awesome about it, and said that if we had any issues with getting the medication that he would send us a prescription, or that we could just go pick it up from him. The prescription that the other vet wrote for us today doesn't even EXIST anymore! that's how old their drug book is!!So thank you guys for making me feel better, and helping us get the right medication for my dog. Dr Hafeez IS SO KIND, WONDERFUL WITH ALL MY PETS EVEN HAS REASONABLE RATES. HIS STAFF IS SUPERB, AND JUST AS CARING.
