We switched to VCA Schaumburg Animal Hospital unfortunately just too late.. I can’t say enough Dr Bishop, Dr Katherine Bloomberg and the entire staff that went above and beyond. The compassion they showed in the first visit was amazing. Our beloved kitty’s urethra was blocked and he could not urinate, unfortunately this had caused his kidneys and heart to start shutting down. Within minutes of arriving Dr. Bishop was able to free the blockage and removed the fluid from his lungs. After a couple days our little guy still was not doing well since they found he had underlying heart condition. We had to make the ultimate decision and are devastated as we loved him so much. The entire staff from the front desk, the Vet technicians and doctors were there for my family. Dr. Bloomberg even called afterwards to check on us as she knows we were all struggling with his loss. The only regret I have is we didn’t switch VCA Schaumburg years ago. THREE days in a ROW prior to going to VCA we were at our primary vet for nearly 8 years and they didn’t diagnose any issues... they just collected money each time as our little guy was dying which caused him additional pain and discomfort. While in the process of finding a new veterinarian (not thrilled with the last appointment with the old one), and having noticed a sudden change in our cats behavior, we found VCA Schaumburg Animal Hospital. After checking the reviews, reading the staffs bio's, and visiting their website, we decided to take our cat there. We called at 8:00 am, explained our cats symptoms, and had an appointment set for 8:30. Upon arrival - to a spotlessly clean facility - we were greeted by two courteous receptionists. After a less then 10 minute wait we were called in by a wonderful vet assistant. She listened to us without interruption, and meticulously documented our cats symptoms into the computer. A few minutes later the vet came in. She patiently listened to us while throughly examining our cat, reassuring him the entire time. After some blood work and X-rays she returned with the sad news. After 11 amazing years we had to let our fur baby go. I can not explain the pain one feels at hearing that kind of news, nor can I explain the compassion Dr. Bloomberg displayed in her facial expression, body language, voice and words. What a truly, truly wonderful person. She explained the situation as well as the treatment options in terms we understood. She accepted our decision without argument or judgement. She, along with her support staff gave us "peace of mind" in our decision. In losing a furry family member, we have no doubtably found our new veterinarian. Thank you VCA. Read Less

we recently switched to this practice from our old vet that was just too far of a drive we wanted something closer to home and man am i glad we did - LOVE this practice - we saw Dr. Jeff who is awesome! He totally took the time with us and answered all questions didn't feel rushed and really felt that he cared. He even diagnosed an issue w/our dog (knee) that the other vet did not - that alone gives me great confidence in his knowledge . the staff is super friendly too - so happy we made the switch for our furbaby girl - she is our family and only want the best! My dog was very sick and when you have lived with a dog for 11 years that can be a hard experience . I took her here and she was examined by Jeff B. , she  had four huge stones. Arrangements were made before her surgery. I was impressed with the compassionate, professional, organized, and knowledgeable treatment that our dog received. I had to go here twice for my cat. First visit was 3 years ago, my cat had stones. They were so good to her and me. I was scared and they eased me. A month ago she was having the same symptoms. I called when opened on a Saturday and the got her in. Again so gentle with her. She wasn't sick but they helped me correct the problem and she's back to normal. Sully says thanks guys. Read Less

I have to preface my review by saying i am extremely picky about veterinarians.  I have had some bad experiences at other practices, and know what to look for, and SVH is  the highest quality animal care facility I have had the pleasure of going to.I have been involved in animal rescue for over 17 years and very recently received university certification in shelter management. I have had many many interactions with this practice between bringing my own kitties here and also many, many shelter kitties via the group I worked with. Dr. Jeff and Dr. Kate, who oversee the practice (recently acquired from them by VCA) are authentic and informative. The staff really goes the extra mile to be friendly and helpful, even to the point of helping me with cat carriers when I have an especially large kitty or a number of kitties. Dr. Casey Levine is my favorite veterinarian. She and the technicians listen carefully to what is happening with my kitties, and Dr. Levine takes time to discuss what she finds and how she arrives at her diagnoses, including why x or y routine treatment may or may not be applicable. I have had several cats with terminal illnesses, and in each case the doctors have allowed me to go with my cat to the back room if they need to be on oxygen. They are also compassionate as far as not pushing more treatment than what is best for the animal. And when a kitty is near death they have discussed making sure what their hours are if we need to schedule to come in. This practice is also very humane as far as trying to help get your animal in promptly if they become injured or suddenly very ill. They go the extra mile for their regular clients. I have been a client of other veterinary practices where this is not the case.What else- I just really like pretty much everyone here. There is such an upbeat positive vibe here, and everyone is very nice and helpful. I have noticed one or two comments that they just want your money, but just to prove this is not so- recently when I brought one of my kitties in with severe stomatitis (dental condition) they referred me to a specialist because of my kitty's particular problem. They could have easily taken my money but they want what is right for your pet. We have taken our two dogs here for the last 4 or so years and continue to even after moving 30 minutes away. The staff, from the front desk, to the vet techs, to the vets are all wonderful. Each of the vets are thorough and take the time to answer any questions you may have. Our family (my parents') dog had to be put to sleep and the staff were so very kind and understanding. Wow. I have never been as impressed with a vet clinic as I was with Schaumburg Vet. We took our 5 month kitten in for a procedure. They kept him for two nights, offered many great benefits and still handled me being a crazy person and calling them every day he was there. We had looked at several clinics closer to us (Chicago) and found that not only was Schaumburg vet more thorough with what this procedure entails, their pricing was the best. Not only was the price point incredible, the service was the best service I've ever had. The staff mentioned they'd visited with our kitten while he was staying there, which as a crazy cat mom, made me feel so much more at ease knowing he was being well taken care of in his trip away from home. The staff, the facility, the level of care, and the price point at this clinic is by far above and beyond what I normally expect. I'm bummed we don't live closer, because I'd love to make them our primary vet however we live over an hour away. This place is not doing it for the love of animals but only making their pockets fuller. I had an emergency with my cat and brought him in thereAnd as soon as I walked through the door they saw sucker on my forehead. They said my only option for my cat is to have a $2500 surgery which I told them I do not have that kind of money and they didn't care. I asked them if I could make payments and they said no. I asked if I could post date a check they said no. I had to borrow from my Inlaws so I could save my cats life. They wouldn't even give me any kind of reduction they said no! I will NEVER go there or recommend anyone going there.  I gave them one star only because they wouldn't let me write this without giving at least one star. Read Less

I love this vet! Since we've adopted our dog, we've visited twice and have had nothing but positive experiences. Both times, we've seen Dr. Desa who patiently answered all of our questions and seemed to really care about Scout! He was also great about giving us our options in terms of care, as well as pricing, so we were able to make the best decisions for our boy. Everyone here has been so friendly and nice, even when Scout decided to be a little devilish and take a poop in the waiting room while I was signing the credit card receipt and not looking (sorry!!) We had an emergency that our regular vet was not able to help us on and we came to Schaumburg at the last minute without an appointment. The entire staff was so willing to help us and provided top notch service to both of our dogs even though we were not regular patients and were walk-ins. I cannot say enough about the gratitude I have for the care that was provided by the entire team and Dr. DeSa. I am very happy to say that our pack will now be regular patients at Schaumburg even though it may not be conveniently located, but it is rare to find a veterinary hospital that truly puts the patients as their top priority. I've been bringing my 9 year old dog here for his entire life and have been pleased since day 1. All the vets and the staff are nice and really care about the animals. They make sure that the owners are informed and you can ask them any question. I was even shown what the laser treatment was that they gave my dog. Stay away from these criminals. Complete rip off. Paid 205$ for 10 min visit and i was told that the kitten had nothing serious. I was sent home with some bu...it medications and the poor kitten passed away 4 hours later. 4 freaking hours later... I got so pissed because i couldnt afford that money but i sacrificed in order to save the little kitten which i found on the street,was not even mine. I have been going to Schaumburg Vet for years and all of the doctors, vet techs, and staff are very caring and knowledgeable. They treat and care for all of my animals in the best possible manner. My boyfriend and I recently adopted a kitten from an animal shelter. This was our first kitten and we didn't really know much. She was malnourished, dehydrated, and extremely underweight. She also had tapeworms, which can be very bad for a kitten that is barely a pound and fits in the palm of my hand. After countless calls to the front desk (thank god for both Lisa's as I probably drove them nuts with my incessant calls throughout the first week of having Millie, our kitten) and seeing Dr. Jeff and Dr. DeSa, they took care of my Millie. They were able to give her the necessary care to become the healthy, couch-scaling kitten she is now!Dr. DeSa and Dr. Jeff never tried to nickel and dime us and were always willing to offer multiple options for treatments, so we could make a decision that worked for us financially. Our kitten ended up staying the night to get fluids and extra TLC and I couldn't have been happier. They let us come see her and check on her status whenever we pleased. They also called my boyfriend and I during her stay to give us updates every couple of hours. I've never even heard of us such a thing!! They were patient, professional, and so friendly! I will forever drive the 40 minutes in 5 o'clock traffic to come here. The people at the front desk are angels. They know Millie by name and always ask about her whenever I have called to make an appointment. They are sweet, knowledgeable, and patient. I probably called, I kid you not, over 30 times in the first week of having her with questions and they were always so kind and willing/wanting to help. Dr. Murphy is the best doctor I've ever met. We've had great support from all of the doctors and staff over the years. Our Wrigley had quite a few problems over the last few months of his life and Dr. Murphy was always kind and caring, gave us the best information and options, and was right there with us when we had to say goodbye to our boy. Our other dog, Tex, has had his fair share of issues as well and we're always greeted with friendly smiles and comforting conversations. Dr. Olech was amazing! I had to bring my hedgehog in for treatment and he was very knowledgeable about how to examine an antisocial hedgie! The last vet I had taken him to for a wellness exam wanted to sedate him to examine him due to his fear of people and unwillingness to cooperate, but Dr. Olech was amazing, and instantly knew to get a bucket of water to put my guy in for the examination, knowing he would calm down and allow to be looked at easier! I brought in my amazing Persian Kitty named Quincy today 4/14/16 for his Wellness Exam. We are not sure what happened but he was fine one minute (a bit stressed out) and a few moments later he went into Respiratory Failure. His lungs filled with fluid and he could not breathe. If not for the immediate action of Dr's Melanie Murphy , Dr. Jeff Bloomberg and Dr. Casey Levine Quincy would not have stood a chance. I commend all that they did for Quincy. Oxygen Cha.ber...Medications and constant monitoring he wouldn't be here. I Thank all the Technicians and staff for their sincere concern and care. I will be forever grateful. I've been going to them for over 3 years now. People who follow my reviews know I rarely give 5 stars. There's guys deserve every bit of it. They are reasonably priced, inexpensive, to be honest. I don't think there's a bad vet out there but these folks are exceptional. All the previous reviews are spot-on. They take time to explain what they're doing, and what they recommend and why. They know how to communicate with your pet and especially the owners. I've had a couple scares with my Cavalier, they're prone to lots of health issues. Each time they've been very kind, patient, and gentle with pet and owner.From the receptionists to the medical assistants to the doctors, they're all incredible people who do love they're work. I have been coming here for the past few years, every doctor I have had for my precious fur baby has been excellent. They have a fantastic bedside manner and when they say they will follow up they do! Today they exceeded my expectations, last week I lost one of my cats. When I brought her in the lady behind the desk was very companionate then today I received in the mail a sympathy card signed by the staff. It brought me to tears and I thank them. 5 stars is just not enough for everyone who works here. My babies are always cared for with great love. Last week I had to put to rest my dearest Spike, he was truly loved and cared for and everyone knew who he was as soon as we would arrive. I've dealt with several staff and several doctors, I was with them before they moved their practice and I'm very greatly for Dr Katie and her love for spike. He truly loved her too. Love them. Unfortunately, last week we had to say goodnight to two of our dogs. It was the hardest thing we have had to do, but the staff made the process easier. Dr Vite was so compassionate and personal, he remembered stories about both our dogs. They even sent a sympathy card after, signed by all of the staff-that meant a lot to our family.
