We took our dog Roscoe for the first time at the hostital in early April. Roscoe was about 16 years old and was diagnosed with spleen tumor. He died at the hospital. Dr DeCraene's diagnosis and kind words helped us to find closure with his death. We also appreciate the signed consolation card from their office. Went in this morning to get some prescription dog food because we had run out and our dog was ill having eaten other food until we had the time to visit our primary veterinarian which is an hour and a half drive away to get more. They refused to sell us the dog food stating they needed to see the dog first and when presented with multiple pictures they stated they needed a scheduled appointment. When asked if we could have our primary veterinarian contact them so we would be able to purchase the food they declined. It was made clear to us Wise Road Animal Hospital cares more about profits they would have received from an appointment than the health of our ill dog. Unfortunate and disturbing encounter. Let me start by saying that we are new to the area. We had went to a different vet in the area but we were unhappy with the service we received. So that brings us to finding Wise Rd. Animal Hospital. I'm so happy that we went there. They truly care about animals! It didn't seem like just a job to them, but rather they were very genuine. Unfortunately, we only had 2 visits to the vet. Our cat was very sick and old. We had to put him down, but the treatment we received ,as well as our kitty, was so kind. They didn't rush us with this difficult decision. And on the day of our kitty's passing, they allowed us as much time as we wanted to spend with him. They were very kind. So although we only saw them twice, if we were to get another pet then we will definitely be going back there. The Cole's and Ziggy truly appreciated all of your help. Read Less

I've never had such an amazing vet experience than from here. I came in because my cat was a little sick and they continually treated her (my cat) with so much love and care!They made her feel more comfortable than I've ever seen her be comfortable at a vet. After her X-rays, I went into the back to check them out and discuss the results with Carla, and stumbled upon employees just hugging my cat and trying to make her more calmed down (she tends to freak out whenever she goes out). It was the sweetest thing! I genuinely felt like they cared about her a lot. Carla was also just great! She went over every little detail for me and walked me through the entire process. I felt really informed the entire time.Also I feel like a lot of vets that I've gone to just want to do unnecessary tests just to get money. I 100% did not get that vibe at all from Wise Road Animal Hospital. They just wanted to do what was needed to make my cat feel better. I am making them my permanent veterinary hospital for sure! We've been coming to this practice for at least 16 years, first to see Dr. Maisch and now Dr. De Craene and Dr. Pfeiffer.  The doctors and staff are kind and compassionate, and they do everything they can to make my dogs comfortable.  Dr. De Craene discovered that my first dog had Cushing's disease, which was treated successfully for two years.  When I lost that dog, everyone seemed to understand and share my grief.  Now I have an elderly poodle and a middle-aged greyhound who get excellent care from both doctors.  I appreciate their openness about their fees, which are reasonable compared to those of other vets in the area.  I recommend them without reservation. I cannot say enough nice things about the vets and staff at Wise Animal Hospital. I am newer to the area, and have been "vet hopping" since we moved here three years ago, because nobody ever made me like them enough to stay. Unfortunately, I had to meet them during a very sad time. My 14 year old dog was battling her last days, and we took her in to see what we could do. The vets, staff, and nurses took such amazing care of not only my dog, but me. They were kind, knowledgeable, had exceptional "bed side manner", and were willing to do whatever it took to keep her comfortable but without making me feel obligated to spend tons of unnecessary money.Even more unfortunate, I ended up having to put my poor puppy to sleep after things took a scary turn for the worst. I felt like they knew her just as long as me. They treated us like family. They made us and her comfortable. They hugged us and cried with us. It meant the world to me. They even sent me a sympathy card in the mail a few days later. I still have an adult cat at home, and we will never be going to another vet in the area ever again. This place is simply amazing. My dog Paulie LOVES this animal hospital and LOVES Dr. DeCraene and does not mind going to the vet at all! Dr. DeCraene is very compassionate and really responds well with my dog. Dr. DeCraene helped us out by removing some cancerous tumors from Paulie and when I picked him up Paulie was in a room on blankets with wonderful gal from the office laying with him. I love this hospital...my cat has had a condition for over a year now and we have seen many vets. I found Dr. Pfeiffer and I will never take my cat anywhere else but here. She was diagnosed, treated and kept the costs down compared to the other vets who pretty much had no idea what was wrong with her but took my money anyway. The vet assistants are just as kind. I have been taking my two dogs there for four years now. One dog is healthy so just the basic yearly visits. The other dog has some problems with her eyes. Dr. DeCraene is wonderful. One morning my dog lost her vision and we quickly called and they took us right away. He gave her a shot of steroids and she was put on a milder steroid daily after that...with in 4 days she eye sight was back. We had her checked out by an eye specialist and he said the quick acting on our vets part saved her vision. Dr. DeCraene knows his stuff. I would highly recommend this place. Read Less

I have 3 cats; each has their own set of health issues. The ""worst"" one is my 18 yo cat with asthma, high blood pressure, arthritis and who is now blind. Dr. Pfeiffer scratches her head -- as do the techs -- and talks softly to her. The lights are even turned down low and a little pad is put onto the table so Shadow is more comfortable. For a cat that gets pretty stressed when ""visiting"" the vet, she is the best she's ever been and doesn't ""scream"" too loud! The other two were pretty docile as they seem to know they're getting the best of care from staff that truly likes what they're doing! AND, they're always punctual! Read Less

I have been going to Wise Road for a year now with my cats. Dr. DeCraene and Dr. Pfeiffer have always been very helpful and caring. The staff there really seems to love their jobs as well and like dealing with people with pets. Even when the time came to put my cat down, I knew that she had received every bit of care I could afford and they never made me feel badly for not being able to continue her treatment. I highly recommend this hospital to all my friends. The only drawback may be that they are not very big (only 2 doctors), with no specialists, but I liked that because I got to know both Doctors pretty well and they also got to know my pets pretty well too. I have been going to Wise Road for many years. First with my dog and then now with my cat. They have always been helpful and showed great care and compassion for my pets. I had to put my dog down when he got bladder cancer and the folks at Wise Road felt the same pain we did. I recently moved, and my old vet is over 30 miles away. Wise Animal Hospital, who i was hoping to be my new vet, will not sell me my cats food now, although last month I was told if my old vet faxed over documents it would be fine. My other vet is also willing to call them. But they want me to pay for an appointment so they can ""meet my cat"" before they will sell me his food. Nice try. Doctor DeCraene is the best. I had a cat who HATED all Vets (Including him) but he was soooo good with her and understanding. He was the best vet she ever went to in all her 18 years.
