We have been bringing multiple pets to Dr. DiGiacomo for years--both adult cats and dogs, and a skittish younger pup. Dr. DiGiacomo always goes above and beyond to make sure that the visit is calm, comfortable, and is always extremely thorough--she makes sure that any questions we have are fully addressed, and offers up multiple avenues of care options for us. She always allows us (the pet parents) to be fully informed and then involved in the decisions made about the animal's care--she is never prescriptive or insistent, but makes sure we have all the necessary information so we can work together as partners to make the most productive and beneficial decisions. She has an extremely calm and gentle approach to all our animals, and is extremely hands on with them, from performing physicals to doing less appealing tasks such as gland extractions. Prior to having her as our veterinarian, we had never had a positive experience with a nail-trimming on our large, young, rescue dog--who is extremely fearful of new people, and of having her nails trimmed in particular. Dr. DiGiacomo worked wonders with her--she was able to forge a bond of trust in order to allow her to trim the dog's nails with a minimum of stress and anxiety. Amazing! Dr. DiGiacomo's intervention also saved our older cat from a second stone-removal surgery--she suggested a course of care that involved switching his food, then made sure to follow up with a second scan, and incredibly, the stones had dissolved! This not only saved the expense of a procedure, but also, more importantly, prevented a sweet and much beloved cat from having to undergo another invasive operation. We were incredibly grateful to her for her care. Our older dog adores Dr. DiGiacomo, and inevitably, she ends up crawling into her lap while she's examining her--all the better to get pets and attention. When she came in with a cough, rather than just dismissing it as a virus, Dr. DiGiacomo took the time to ask about the type of walks she takes, and the type of leash/collar she uses. Through our conversation and an X-ray (which I am sure ate up more of her time) she was able to determine that her collar was actually constricting her neck too severely, causing her to cough. I could see how a less invested doctor might not have taken the extra steps to make the trickier diagnosis. This visit also clearly demonstrated that she is a doctor who genuinely cares about her patients, and is devoted to ensuring they receive the best and most accurate care. During any day, all the doctors must deal with a myriad of cases, unexpected situations, stresses, and extended hours. In each and every visit, we have always felt that Dr. DiGiacomo never gives us less than her full attention, and always ensures that our animals, and their humans, feel understood and cared for. She clearly cherishes the bonds between people and their humans, and always honors that in her approach. I can't recommend her strongly enough for anyone looking for a veterinarian. Read Less
