My wife has been taking my dogs to Wonder Lake Vet for a couple months. Changed from Hebron vet for many reasons. I was focus to attend a visit and ended up had a great experience. The gentleman helping (I think his name was Tim), but enjoyed his passion and sense of humor. First vet or rescue center that didn’t smell like wet dog or cats piss. Very clean with great service. Brought my dog tank for a check up on Last Saturday morning. Thought they opened at 7:00 and all the lights were on so attended to enter the vet. There was a young man cleaning the vet and he took the time to meet me at the door to explain that vet opened at 8:00. Offered to stay until employees arrived. Very kind. Recently started going to Wonder Lake vet. Very nice clinic overall. Owned dogs all my life so been dealing with vets in WI for routine visits. First vet that did not smell unbearable. 5 star review based on their facility’s cleanliness and 4 stars for service. I was worried and concerned about my kitty. He had been coughing. I took him into Wonderlake Vet to have him checked out. They took my cat for some X-rays. When the vet came back, he told me my cat had something next to or around his heart. I was crying and bawling my eyes out. They gave him some shots and antibiotics. They referred me to another vet in Woodstock to have my cat get an ultrasound of his chest. I was crying, tossing and turning all night, and kept checking on him. I got him in ASAP! I woke up at 6 am and took him to this vet in Woodstock. There, they did a more thorough exam. They took him for more X-rays and an ultrasound. As it turned out, my cat didn’t have any mass, tumors, or anything wrong with his heart at all! All he had was bronchitis! While I was relieved my kitty was okay, I was furious! I called Wonder Lake Vet and spoke to the manager. I explained to her the situation how they had told me there was something wrong with my cats heart when all he has is bronchitis. I told the lady that between yesterday and today, I had spent about a grand for my cat having bronchitis. I told her that her clinic made a mistake and if I could please get some of my money back. Not all of it, but some. The manager down right refused and then further had the nerve to tell me that there vet disagreed with the diagnosis of bronchitis. I asked the manager how could they disagree? The vet at Wonder Lake had told me their X-rays weren’t clear enough and today in Woodstock, the new X-rays were much more clear and he had an ultrasound. I was livid and in disbelief. Wonder Lake Vet told me my cat had something wrong with his heart and a heart condition when all he had was bronchitis. We had been going to this vet for almost a decade. We will never go back to Wonder Lake Vet again. Read Less

1 star for Dr. M only! it was time to put my 15 yr dog down, compassionate he was and I drove her to the vet after hours and he sedated her, euthanasia and I asked for I individual cremation. Posted on multiple websites my awful experience most un-compassionate all about $ haggling misinforming and no proper accurate billing of charges services and nerve to charge me finance late fees even though there's no real bill breakdown and account mix ups with one of the 2 payments actually made. 6p% paid in cash $50&$250 ($300 not explained bal) and $50 extra fees plus $20 in latw finance charges with no paperwork i ever signed or approved. A 3 month long battle exhausting heart breaking experience overall.Doctor was well aware and agreed to sedate euthanize and ind. Cremate my dog within a week with the 1st $50 cash payment down on 10/30/17 when we put her down (I came in 1 week later with $250 cash from a go fund me page I started and was told i can pick up her ashes after payment agreed)Recinded and took back her ashes, brought me to tears again and now with these bal. errors and 2 late bills and many phone calls with them unable to produce accurate or specific break down of services or any reciepts at all I ever made of my payments.I'll pick my dog up tomorrow Pay the extra crazy unknown fees Tomorrow AFTER they give me the accurate acct, payment reciepts, and overall total bill added up correctly to assure me that I'm not (overpaying or did sign something they claim I did) when I know how to count and what I didn't sign.AWEFUL STAFF in office Unorganized and combined my acct with my dad's past due and making me.suffer for it is not fair! Let alone bringing up their policy crap disregarding my agreement with dr.m and their lack of knowledge o made my initial payment at all that same day I put my dog down! About 8 years ago my mother and I took our German Shepherd to them to figure out why she had been so sick. After many vets had told us she was just old, doctor Ed had told us our dog had diabetes. Once we figured that out she slowly started to feel better. There was one night around 10 that our dog went into diabetic shock and was having a mild stoke. He told us to bring her in and he took care of her for us. With doctor eds help we got to keep our fur baby around alot longer than we ever thought we would. And when we had to put her down, he was right there with us again. Now I bring my new dog there and Dr Sara is amazing with her. I will never go anywhere else. Read Less

Have no idea how anyone could give this place 1 star. I understand people get emotional about their pets, and when you don't get an answer right away, you get frustrated. But the docs are doing their job..they cant just look at an animal and know what's wrong. Blood tests must be done, ECT. And unfortunately, trail and error is a part of it. Anyway, Dr M and his clinic is amazing. This past weekend, he came in @ 11pm for an emergency visit, and then again @ 1130pm on Sunday for a separate emergency. One good thing I can say about this place is that it is really fast. So fast that the check up for my dog wasn't even a check up, the doctor just glanced at my dog and gave me medicine. I'm so upset coming here because I wasted money on something that didn't even help my dog. Doctors excuse was that it's a trial and error method. I needed answers and it's something they couldn't give me. I just wanted to know what was wrong with my dog. They do stuff so fast they don't take their time. Dr. Ed and Dr. Sara are my doctors for my fur kids. They go beyond caring and it is clear that they love animals. When i have been desperate on closed hours when my dogs have been ill, Dr. Ed had come in and taken the time to heal on his day off. Amazing people who love animals. I highly recommend! Read Less

On the 3rd of February I took my baby Chloe to wonder lake vet. I had doctor Sara and she seen how up set I was my girl had some bruises on her tummy that we just noticed and she explained everything and made me feel so comfortable they took blood and the next day she called me very early around 8:30 and that was great cause I didn't expect her until around 10:30 but anyways she has some condition with her blood platelet counts and to continue with the meds up the predisone and to bring her back next wed. Well on Friday she went poop and it was black tar and I called and Dr Sara called me and took me to give her pepcid and that her condition with uping her meds might be the reason. I give Dr Sara 5 stars and very caring vet she sure went in to the right career. I took Chloe in on Sat Feb 11, 2017 and Dr. Sara was not working so we had to see Dr. Mehanovic. OMG he is the worst Doctor ever he shouldn't be working with animals. His personality is dry big time my opinion. For 1 he doesn't know Chloe's history and he didn't take a look at it to be up to speed at least why she is coming in. She has been sick since Jan 2016 and almost every time we get Dr. Sara and she knows Chloe's history. I so enjoy her and how she acts like Chloe is her only Patient and 2) Chloe loves her. I know I will get a call the next day with a update on her blood count. So in the future I will call to make sure Doctor Sara is there. My opinion Doctor Mehanovic should for 1) look at notes so he is up to speed with what the animal is there for and 2) at least look like he likes his job.. I found out my 4 year old golden had cancer at the emergency vet in grayslake il. We had been in and out of wonder lake roughly 7 times from mid October to late December. All they did there was apply bandaid after bandaid. She soon began exhibiting new awful symptoms and sadly passed away this past weekend. Although her outlook may have been the same no matter what- enimas, prescription diet, and endless antibiotics were 100% the wrong treatment. On Xmas eve, we took her in because of new symptoms and they saw a "mass" up at the top of her colon near the spleen...they gave her 2 enimas and sent her on her way to have a rectal prolapse on Christmas and vomitting in the days to follow. Not a foreign object, not constipation, a MASS. My dog was 4 and maybe if we found her problem sooner she could have had a better quality of life in her final months. Not wearing a cone of shame and not soiling herself all day because of dog food that is suppose to give her runs because that's how it cleans her out. I'm devastated and extremely grateful to the caring staff at premier in grayslake for putting our dog to rest in a calm and respectful environment...and grateful that didn't feed me line after line of BS. I am so pleased with this vet. I had an awful experience with the Animal Medical Center of Lake Villa, and I ended up taking my puppy to the Wonder Lake location after some complications with her spay. The staff was so nice and friendly, and the doctor himself did a great job with our pet. He went out of his way to allay any concerns we had. He even called us later that day to check up on our dog. Avoid this vet, his clinic in Lake Villa did surgery on my pup in December 2013. My dog ended up very ill and it took until now and another vet to help him recover. He ended up with severe infections. The rescue who took him there, took another dog after mine and that dog almost didn't make it. Read Less

THE BEST in every area: price/affordability, available hours, emergency service, professional, humane, kind care. It takes many skills to operate a clinic of this type properly and this vet has it all. It's a walk-in clinic so you never know what you'll find when you get there, but they move things along and there's always something to look at. Been going there for many years and have family who drive from Chicago for the service and the prices. Dr. Mehanovic founded the clinic and his surgical skills, people skills, and demeanor are superb. He now surrounds himself with vets and staff of equal caliber because he is so successful that he can't do it all! People like to write bad experiences on web sites these days about all sorts of places: I have never had a poor experience here and I DO have a lot of experience. Dr. Ed is the best. The other vets there i wouldn't reccomend for more than a routine visit. But dr. Ed is the best I've ever seen. and they are far less expensive than any other place i have been to with my pets. cats and dogs.I just moved 1 1/2 hours away but wil still be making the trip there to see dr.
