I took my dog in to be looked at because he could not move or walk when I got home from work, They did an ultra sound and seen fluid on his belly. they drew some and it was blood, he was bleeding internally. They called and got me set up at the Vet hospital for surgery. I feel as if the doctor knew how bad he was and yet still was going to let me spend between 4000.00 to 7000.00 dollars to have the surgery. My sweet rusty died on the way to hospital. When you are a vet you are very smart. You know when things are going to be fatal. It is so heartbreaking that he was going to let me spend 1/2 of my savings on this to try and save my Rusty. Instead of being honest and letting me know that his outcome was slim to none that he would pull through this. so instead of holding him and loving him when he was passing I was frantically driving in the rain and trying to soothe him. Dr. Kanach, hope i spelled that right, but he is awesome!!!!! Have had pets my entire life and most vets are wanting to really just medicate our furry friends and Dr. Kanach is real!!!! Point blank!!! He isnt there to take every dime and penny and he is a normal human. He doesn't speak to you like an idiot or talk down His whole staff is polite and courteous and just highly highly recommend Above and Beyond for your fur babies!!! Thank you very much Dr. Kanach My kitty is bak to normal and just THANK YOU!!!!! He could have said or made me do all the tests and mumbo jumbo but again he is real. We had to take our baby in late one evening after work. She had been really itchyb and her skin allergies were acting up. We called around 6:30pm and they got us right in. Last night was one of the scariest days of my life. I have never had an issue with my dog except an ear infection. Last night his entire face swelled up and I completely lost it. As I called In my car driving over the ladies on the phone were so understanding and sweet. When I got there they were on top of things. They got me in a room within minutes and had options to get him what he needed. I was very hysterical and upset. But they did their jobs so well I was convinced he was in good hands. After they took him back to give him steroids and medicine I had three people come to the room and ask me how I was doing and if I needed anything. Within the 20 minutes they had him in the back he came up to the room and looked so much better. He got stung on his nose. But he could open his eyes and look at me. Would you take your Children to some Cheap, Back Alley Clinic To Get Care ? We've been taking our dog here for five years and have always had a great experience. Dr. Kanach is wonderful, as is Jenna. They take great care of our pup. One thing I really appreciate is that they always call and follow up on any visit. They also welcome calls with questions or concerns at any time. The staff is so friendly that our dog has never feared going to the vet. We originally picked the vet for the location and availability of evening appointments, and we've been so happy we did! They should rename themselves "Nickel and Dime" ... Because that is what they do. I spent the equivalent of a mortgage payment on a simple ear infection. Admittedly, the staff is nice, but they need to rethink their pricing schedule and their "upsell" sort of strategy of doing business. I cancelled all of my appointments and took my dog elsewhere. EVERY TIME I called or came in for an appointment, I felt taken advantage of, praying on the love of my pet to bill me a disgusting amount of money or suggest and/or scare me into a new test or technique. We've been using Dr. Kanach's veterinary clinic, Above and Beyond Animal Care, for nearly 10 years since we moved to Avon.  We have always been very happy with him and his staff.  That is until today.  I called and asked if I could bring our cat by tomorrow (Saturday) because she hasn't eaten in a week.  I was told they won't have medical staff there tomorrow and they asked if I could bring her today.  I informed her I was working and asked how late I could bring the cat by.  She said they would be there to see her until 8:00 PM.  I told her I would need to see if I could make it before then and would call her right back.  I called back five minutes later and said I would bring the cat in at 7:00.  She put me on hold and came back and said they are only available until 5:00 PM.  I said you just told me you were open until 8:00 tonight five minutes ago.  Then she hung up on me!  I will find a new veterinarian for our pets and will not visit Above and Beyond again.  I suggest you look elsewhere for your pet care.Darin Tucker & Lisa Foreman-TuckerAvon, IN Read Less

Dr. Kanach has been my  vet for well over a decade.  He and the other staff at Above & Beyond are compassionate, caring and knowledgeable.  Dr. K is up to date on the latest information and treatments and I've more than once watched him pull a miracle out of his hat to solve a serious problem.  My pets have never gotten less than the very best treatment at Above & Beyond, and the communication and attentiveness is just impossible to beat.  I'd happily recommend Above & Beyond to anyone. I'd give this place 10 stars out of 5 if it were possible. I always thought the prices were reasonable, especially considering the ultra high level of care provided. We got a Chihuahua from a shelter in 2005, and she had a couple hernias, bad knees, bad teeth, one eye and was badly underweight (she was also already 9 years old). With the help of Dr. Kanach, we were able to get her all fixed up and her life turned around. She was as energetic as a puppy until the last couple of weeks before her natural death at age 16 and a half. "Perfect" doesn't even begin to describe our experience at this office, and we couldn't possibly recommend it highly enough! Read Less

I don't think you will find a more caring vet than Dr. Kanach. I found him after I decided that VCA on Bash Street was not going to the chemo therapy on my dog. It is a very small facility, but all the techs are wonderful and will treat your pet as if they are their own.Dr. Kanach is a wonderful surgeon. My toy poodle had surgery two weeks before I left Indiana and the stitches needed to removed. I brought him to a vet in California and the vet actually stated that the stitches were a work of art.If you care for your pet as family, you won't find a better vet than Dr. Kanach. Read Less

I read the previous review and agree that they were extremely expensive. The care was good; but costly. Our pet's eye required surgery. We later found out the other eye needed to be done. They should have suggested/recommended that both eyes have this surgery under one surgical fee. Instead it allowed an opportunity for two surgeries and additional money. I have stopped taking my dog there because treatments always end up being considered something major and are horribly expensive. My dog has had minor skin irritations that should have been treated with antibiotics, but instead I was told required expensive surgery. I have neighbors who have experienced similar situations. We have come to the conclusion that this clinic is money hungry. Instead of being concerned about our pet's well being, they are doing unnecessary surgeries. We will no longer take our pets there.
