My dog was neutered at Dr. Carter’s and sent home without a cone at the direction of Dr. Carter and his team. I was told that because my dog showed no interest with his incision site coming out of the operation, he wouldn’t need a cone. Now even being a first time dog owner, I was skeptical of this information, so I asked the team for a back up cone just in case he found interest in it. And sure enough, when he was in his crate bored, he licked the glue off of his incision site. I immediately threw on his cone - but it was too late. As time progressed that day, it was clear that his site was re-opened, and seeping puss excreted because of infection. The site was full of blood (hematoma), swollen, and raw also as a result of the infection. I immediately sent the team an email as they were closed that day. Because my dog was in severe pain, wouldn’t eat, drink, use the bathroom, and couldn’t really even move - I rushed him to MedVet. They had to operate on/sedate him (the second time in three days poor guy) again and re-seal the open wound. It cost me an additional amount of $1,200.00 at MedVet. Dr. Carter and his team have yet to respond to my email, show any remorse or sympathy, no apologies, no care at all for my dog. Dr. Carter has yet to call me about any of this. I am appalled by the unprofessionalism of this business. By not providing a cone, this traumatic event for us conspired - And then after having full knowledge of the situation and report from MedVet - to turn a blind eye??? How cruel. Shame on the team and everyone that works there. Shame. I hope you keep this in the back of your mind for a long time and feel the pain and disrespect we have felt as dog owners. Read Less
