As far as being a client goes, this place is amazing. The doctors care a great deal about the animals and the girls in the lodge take really good care of the boarding animals. However, if you are looking for a job, unless you have a degree and can work on the hospital side, do not work here in the lodge. The management is very poor and favorites are played. If you don’t like being spoken to like you’re a child, stupid, or otherwise incompetent, I’d advise you to not even apply to this job, unless of course, you are a perfect human being. For reference you can ask around at other pet suites around the Indianapolis area, they have all heard or know someone who had worked there, and the personal reviews are more or less, negative. Woodland Animal Hospital is a special place. I am pleased with all of the doctors and staff; they are knowledgeable and compassionate. I especially appreciated the kindness shown in our times of grief, and how they cared for our cat's remains when he passed. They took the time to not only make a paw print impression, but to lovingly decorate it and make it into an ornament. The way we were treated was leagues greater than our last experience with pet loss at the VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center. We've also used their animal boarding, which is also great. Not for cat lodging. I understand that they might be a good pet clinic and salon but this is not a place for cat lodging. Maybe they think that cats don't need as much attention and care as dogs, as people usually say that cats are independent. I just picked up my cat at noon and he seems famished and thirsty - we had him there for almost 5 days. When I dropped my cat off, they make you fill out paperwork where you can instruct how much food they should feed and if you want to bring your own brand of cat food (which I did because I only feed him natural and healthy cat food). I specifically let them know, and wrote down, that he eats 1/4 cup of food for each morning and nighttime. I portioned out the food to last exactly 4.5 days in a tupperware but when I got it back, only half was taken out. My cat always finishes this amount every time. As for playtime, I called everyday and found out that they only take out the cats once or twice a day for a short time. They're in this closet-looking "condo" and only open from 9 to 6. I didn't have a choice at the time as other pet lodge with better features and services were fully booked. If I had to do it again, I would just hire a cat sitter in my neighborhood or someone trustworthy to watch my cat. Never again.Read Less

We boarded our dog there under a special circumstance. She was a rescue that we only had 6 months but was not working out as she and our other dogs were not friends. Woodland s staff loved on her and gave her lots of attention until we were able to find a new home for her. The staff and Dr Haak made a difficult situation much better then it could have been. We originally went to several other vets in the Indianapolis area and when's we needed to find a place to board our dog with behavioral issues we were introduced to woodland.  Since then they have been the most caring thoughtful and well-trained staff for both boarding and veterinarian services I have ever had experience with.  They went above and beyond to help our dog with many health issues and were also extremely helpful with our cat.  They make great recommendations and are so accommodating and helpful.  I am forever grateful for their wonderful services.  They are also careful to make sure you receive the services you need without spending an arm and a leg. I have previously received good service, however, I called at 5:15pm on a Friday after coming home from work to find a large puncture wound on my dog's leg. The person answering the phone told me that they would talk to a doctor and call me right back. I waited an hour while my dog continued to bleed. I finally called back only to get an answering machine because they had closed. I understand it was a Friday night, but I was told I would get a call back. I had to take my dog to the emergency vet and spend $550 on stitches. I am very disappointed and frustrated and not entirely sure I will stay with Woodland. All I needed was a call back and some sign that my baby was cared about. Read Less

I have been taking my dog here for years. They take excellent care of your furry friends and don't push you to spend into bankruptcy.I just had to put down my dear doggie last night. The staff and vet were so wonderful. They didn't make me wait at all in the main waiting room, went thru what to expect, gave me lots of choices in how I wanted things to go and didn't pressure me at any stage. My poor little Pomeranian with separation anxiety hurt himself one day while I was at work. Woodland was able to get him in the same day! I was really concerned financially because last time I took him to a vet a couple years ago for this it was extremely expensive. We were in and out with medication for $60! They even gave us a sample of vitamins to see if he liked them before I purchased the big container. They also gave us information about ways to subside his anxiety before having to medicate him. I always have my questions answered, and if not, Dr. Gray will call and email me until I feel completely comfortable with what is going on. My dog has had some health issues this year, and as any pet parent knows, it can really be scary. Dr. Gray and the staff at Woodland show the same concern as I do for Galileo and they always email and call to check up on my furbaby throughout the entire year! I can't tell you how amazing it feels to go to a place that loves my dog like I love my dog. They show general concern and compassion for Galileo. For instance, I had to take my dog to the Animal ER this year, and the first thing I received the day after the ER scare was a call from Woodland checking in on Galileo! The Veternarians are knowledgeable and caring. We have trusted them for almost 10 years, and their advice has always been thoughtful and appropriate. The Pet Lodge is fabulous, our 3 dogs run in to greet the staff; so I'm sure they fell safe and well cared for as demonstrated by their enthusiastic entrance. Our dogs are getting older, so I trust the staff to provide appropriate care and seek medical advice when needed, and then they will be seen by physicians who know their history. I help bring my sister's dog to this clinic and everytime I come here (which has been twice and hopefully the last) the staff is beyond unhelpful.  I am blown away that the staff pushes drugs, vacancies,  and food instead of dealing the dogs skin disorder. We are here for an illness and the dog is stressed, my sister is stressed and all this nurse is worried about how much money she can get out of us!! This is the 3rd time in 6 months we have been here for the same skin disorder. After three rounds of medicine and no results. I started taking my cat to Woodland Animal Hospital several years ago when they were still on 116th Street.  Dr. Phillips and his staff had always been caring and compassionate and seemed genuinely interested in how my pet was doing.  I stayed with them once they moved to their new location on Carmel Drive.  I subsequently gained a couple more cats and continued to be satisfied with their service and care of my pets.  Earlier this year I had to take one of my cats in for an exam and he ended up having surgery.  This most recent experience was significantly lacking compared to my other previous experiences with Woodland Animal Hospital.  We were told that we would be contacted if the cost of the services they needed to do might go above and beyond what was originally estimated.  That call never happened.  When it came time to pick him up, the bill for services was well over $100 greater than the original estimate, so we had to resolve the billing errors before we were able to take him home.  I can't help but feel as if the staff's main objective was for the maximum financial gain, not the welfare of my pet.4/22/2014 - In response to the comment left by the representative of Woodland Animal Hospital:  I am not disputing the fact that the amount mistakenly charged was removed, I am disputing the fact that they were supposed to call and notify us if an additional charge was anticipated and Woodland Animal Hospital never called.  This caused undue stress during an already stressful situation.  If they would have called like they told us they were going to, there would not have been an issue and they wouldn't have been given such a low rating.
