Charlestown Veterinary Clinic

Charlestown, Indiana
General Info
Charlestown Veterinary Clinic is well-known for the care it extends to its clientele. Charlestown Veterinary Clinic supports pet parents in Charlestown with behavior-first assessments and routine building techniques that aid pets in replicating their household patterns and Indiana tendencies. The visit begins with a dialogue concerning daily rhythms, encompassing the fluctuations in energy levels, diet, social life quality, sleep patterns, and environmental stress. The next is a full physical test, which includes joint testing, oral health, and skin and posture evaluation. The veterinarian notes how the animal responds to the applied force to analyze whether there is any discomfort, muscle stiffness, or restriction of movement. Analysts study the data looking for patterns that might indicate changes in metabolism, stress on bones and muscles, or behavior. Charlestown Veterinary Clinic offers diagnostic screenings, vaccinations, blood and fecal tests, nutritional consultations, and pain management programs. Weather-related illnesses are identified based on the timing of healthcare visits for allergies (spring), parasites (summer), and arthritis (cold). Dogs that have anxiety linked to their genetic makeup or other health issues would benefit from regular milestone checks for better monitoring. Pet owners are provided with detailed habit logs and follow-up care intervals along with optional digital check-ins. Pet owners with older or multiple pets might need flexible scheduling paired with telehealth and behavior-associated recheck systems to keep routines manageable. Through structured observation and seasonal alignment, the Charlestown Veterinary Clinic empowers Indiana pet owners to anticipate their pets’ needs and take action accordingly. The practice provides an array of services, including Dental Radiographs, Cardiology, Dental Care, Pocket Pet Care, and Vaccinations. These services help pets at every stage of their lives, from routine wellness checks to advanced medical care. Pet owners value the team’s expertise, the way they communicate with compassion and respect, and their ability to explain medical decisions clearly. From senior pet care to urgent health issues, helping build a close bond with pet owners through the consistent and genuine care they provide. It plays an important role in educating pet owners and implementing preventive health strategies. The company’s outreach programs create a strong foundation for responsible pet ownership in the company’s area of operation. Clients frequently comment on the warm and friendly environment, as well as the professional care that keeps pace with current veterinary practices.

It shouldn't cost more to bring your animal to be seen than it does your children. Would not recommend and too expensive. Brought my cat in for what I feel was a UTI (he has had one before) since the symptoms were the same two years ago when he was diagnosed with one. The vet walks in, no introductions, no questions asking about my pet just a "what's the issue"? I proceed to explain the issue to the vet and what I think is the problem and immediately was told that was probably not the issue. They would need to get a urine sample and sent me home with crystal pebbles and directions on how to obtain. The vet said they would go ahead and charge me for a urinalysis ahead of time. The crystal were literally a snack bag full and no way covered the bottom of a litter box. I contained the cat to one room trying to get him to pee into this litter box. The first 24 hours my cat did not pee so I contacted the office back. I was told to keep him in there and he will pee eventually. Another 24 hours go by.. still not pee. I had to let him out because I felt bad keeping him in there and he thought he did something wrong. He ended up going in the regular litter box just didn't want to go in those crystals. I contacted the office to let them know that I could not get a urine sample and would they consider giving an antibiotic and treat him for a UTI an if he didn't stop peeing on the carpet I would contact them back. I was initially told no, then asked the vet and they agreed. I asked if the urinalysis charge would be refunded and I received a very snotty NO. I complained and said I should not be charged for a service I did not receive. Refused the refund. Bad business in my opinion. I will find another vet to take care of my animals. Read Less

15 days ago, I could tell that something was off with my cat, after much googling, I came to the conclusion she was constipated and I could tell by how she was acting that she needed to be seen. The problem for me started from the get go, the vet walked in, no introductions from anyone, "I'm doctor so and so, nice to meet you, thank you for business, tell me about your pet", nothing, just down to business, took my cat back and gave her an x ray, sure enough, constipated. They brought in a sheet, told me how much it was going to be, $365 for an enema, and a $55 charge, "because I have to stick my finger in your cat's butt"... verbatim. Form the verbiage however, and since I was having to leave her overnight, for some reason, I was under the assumption this was going to be some type of surgical removal. Guess not. So I said that I couldn't swing that much right now, would it be possible to make a half payment now and half a payment when I got paid next. The answer was a no, which I expected, but didn't hurt to ask. I was told I could make a deposit, but I had to have the rest when I picked her up the next day, and I had to sign a paper that if I didn't, she would be considered abandoned. Ok, fine, I'll get the money together. So I get home, go through the visit with my aunt, she agreed to pay the rest. We head back up there, while we are waiting, the receptionist was on the phone with another client, and the phone call was obviously about putting their pet to sleep. For some reason, the girl on the phone was irritated by this and kept rolling her eyes, then proceeded to talk loudly about how much it would be to "take it home and bury it" or, "this is how much it is if you want us to keep it and cremate it". And "this is a holiday weekend, we won't be here on Friday and we'll be slammed on Tuesday, so you really need to make a decision". I immediately got a pit in my stomach, you don't refer to someone's pet as an it. Or rush someone into a life changing decision. Wednesday rolls around, I receibed o phone call Tuesday night to let me know how the procedure went. No call by 9am Wednesday morning, so I tried to call, lines were busy, so I finally drove up there. I was told "she's pooping"... then they literally brought her out to me, put her on the floor and walked away. No, here's what to be on the lookout for, here's what we did, thanks for your business, have a good day. Nothing. "She's pooping" was an understatement. When I got her home, I smelled an awful stench in the pet carrier. They didn't even clean her up. She had wet poop all over her backside and she was oozing feces from her rectum. This continued into Thursday and I decided that I needed to get her into somewhere else. Also, no phone calls at this point to follow up and see how she was doing. The other vets office called this place and asked for the records to be sent over. Nothing was sent over but my receipt.... no notes on when the procedure was performed, how it was performed, what was used. Nothing. Finally received a call a week later to check on her, I informed the vet not good, went through everything and all of my complaints with her, and I was told they would re see her, do bloodwork and xrays again at no charge. So I go back the next day, and somehow they got me for another $92. At this point, my cat was now running a fever and had some type of infection. I also noticed during this recheck, the vet had either dried feces, food or vomit on her fingers from another pet. I hope to God her hands were clean before she "stuck her finger in my cat's butt" and didn't pass something to her. 15 days later, she still isn't eating on her own without medicine, and is still having diarrhea, and I'm wondering what the hell they even did to her. Also, still no follow up calls. Please do not take your precious babies here. I want to add more to this review, but unfortunately I am out of space. Just know that I am well over $800 into this process just from an enema. I hope they are getting good rest at night, because I am not. Read Less
