I took my senior Yorkie to this vet for the first time because she has some odd and scary symptoms (hard bloated belly and a persistent cough which has changed in both frequency and sound). When I walked in the exam room, the vet was busy reading something, standing at a table across the room. I don't know what he was reading, it wasn't the dog's vet records, we were new and her records hadn't been sent yet. It wasn't the entrance form because that is only one simple page of basic questions ( 4 second read). I explained and talked and he was silent multiple times because he was reading. He wasn't hearing me. He read whatever it was for the entire visit. He seemed angry and was very agitated that I was bothering him. He asked me a couple of questions and then when I tried to answer, he talked over the top of me, not letting me answer or explain. I had important things I wanted him to know but I couldn't get him to listen. The entire appt he never came to the table to touch her, look at her, feel her stomach. He never checked her ears, her paws...the only time he came to the exam table was to check her heart with the stethoscope. He was busy reading. I told him I want a heartworm test because she may have spit out her pill/I was a bit inconsistent, etc, We are at the river daily for walks, dog park etc and she has symptoms of HW from what I've read. He took bloodwork and a HW test and told me the results would be back in 24 - 48 hours. It has been 5 days - no results. I have called the office every single day. A HW test that is 5 days old is no good any longer - what if she was bit since then? She is on nothing for HW now bc we are waiting on the results. I can't put her on prevention without the test. And prevention doesn't kill the worms if she has them. The weekend is tomorrow so it will be 7 days by Monday. He also asked me which number to call because he said I have two numbers. I only have one number so that was odd and I wonder where he got that from? Was he looking at someone else's chart? I gave them $182.00 and all I got was a stethoscope on her heart. I've never seen a vet not check my dogs - I've owned dogs for 40 years. I didn't get what I paid for. I view this as an emergency because of my dog's symptoms and her age -and she isn't on HW prevention or meds bc we are out and I can't get any bc he won't give me the results. Also, when I made the appt originally, I had to call and reschedule. The guy answering the phone forgot to mark the calendar. I had a weird feeling and called the morning of the appt to confirm and he told me I missed my appt last week. I reminded him that he had rescheduled me and that I didn't miss. He "squeezed me in" that day (at the same time as my appt). This is the weirdest, most unprofessional doctor I have EVER encountered. It is scary that he is allowed to practice medicine. We are talking about lives here and he wants to read while I am in the room, not answer me, not listen to me, not look at my dog, not give me the blood work results I paid for. I asked the receptionist to call and check on the results at the lab. he isn't even going to do that. He insisted, "we WILL call you!" My dog could be dying but you want me to wait on you? He did Not give her a thorough exam but then charge me. Read Less
