It's hard to find a vet for my Socrates because he's so big, butg they took him in and treated him like family and still do to this day!!!! He's been going here 7 of his 8 years on earth...then I adopted a cat from them because nobody wanted a huge, long hair black cat that came in as a stray. They had him for a year and took such good care of him- and they still do...he won't let me brush him so he gets matted pretty bad, but he'll let the groomer at the vet not only brush him but shave him into a lion cut...that's how good they are with furry babies!!! I have been bringing my animals to Dr. Kelly for years. A dog and a cat. She is an excellent vet. Her honesty, genuine concern and dedication to providing the best care possible is apparent. What is most important to me is the quality of care my animals get, and a vet that I can trust to provide that care. New to the area and brought my cat in after he became ill from something he picked up from the new pet sitter. Of course neither of us knew that when I brought him in. My other cat went through the same thing a few days later and recovered much faster but he was younger and had just had a booster. He was dehydrated and only eating wet food. When I brought him in they did a full run of everything. Xray, blood work, physical exam. He eventually got better on his own after giving him fluids and just letting it run its course. The issue I have with the clinic is the fact that anytime they do anything to your pet it's done behind the scenes. The only thing they did on that metal table in the room is talk every time they did shots or anything he would be uncomfortable with took him to the back room so I couldn't see. I asked to go because no other vets separate pets and their owners for comfort and I was told that wasn't allowed. They couldn't figure out what was wrong. Which wasn't their fault it wasn't easily identified it was just the equivalent of a flu, and he got over it in a few days. They gave me some iv fluid and some laxatives to give him which i'm sure helped as he was dehydrated. Once I stopped using laxatives he got much better and fully recovered in 3 days. What was not helpful was the vet telling me my cat was over weight while I am worried sick. Also he is in no way fat he is 10 lbs and I recently bought it up to another vet and they laughed. Bottom line I spent $500 dollars for zero answers and a vet with questionable standards. They sent me home with a very sick cat assuming I would give him fluids under the skin and medicine that only made it worse. Zero calls to check up on him and they even gave him an enema and sent him home to relieve his bowels all over the floor. Both me and him were horrified. No cat should have to go through unnecessary pain. I recommend you drive a little more and go elsewhere. Read Less

I brought my dog, Charlie, in for a nail trim, since he can not handle anyone touching his feet. From the moment we walked in, the women who work there won him over with their kindness and patience. He was not able to get his nails trimmed that day, so they gave me many suggestions on how to gradually get him to calm down, including bringing him in for random visits to get comfortable with their place. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE !!  I had a very sick dog.  The ER told me to call my vet the next more to get him in for more x-rays. CP Animal Hospital was too busy for the next 3 days to see him.  Took all 4 dogs to a new clinic to find out that CP Animal Hospital didn't give them the correct vaccinations.  Gave them a 6 month Bordatella - WHY !!  I called for them to fax all my records to my new Vet.  They faxed random documents that were worthless to my new Vet.  I called again requesting I wanted a copy of everything in my dogs files. They charged for $5 and 8 pieces of paper and I know there was more in those files than that.  I guess when I heard the Vet at CP went to prison for inhuman uthenathia of animals I should have steered clear. I am very dissatisfied with this place. We have been going here for 14 years & have spent thousands of dollars. Our dog needs prescription dog food. They did not have it, so when we asked for the prescription so we could buy it at Petsmart, we were told we would be charged $10, just for a prescrip! I'm sorry, if they don't want to write prescriptions, then they should have these items on hand. They have never told us they would need a weeks notice to order this food, we were always told they have a bag or two on hand. I am officially done with this place! Read Less

Took my Bindi Sue in for vomiting. Dx with pancreatitis and dehydration. Dr Kelly, Dr Z ans all techs there took such good care of her for her 3 day stay. While I think they do try, I think they are so busy, they didn't have correct things on my cats chart, never called to check on him. I think it was to late when I realized what my cat really needed. However, they were very compassionate when I had to put my cat down.. they have so many staff and I just think the details get jumbled, which reflects in the care. Read Less

Took my 14 month Golden Ret. to Crown Pt. animal hosp. on Friday because of coughing and gaging. Vet said she had allergies and a ear infection. Gave her meds and and said to follow up in.2 weeks. By Sunday she was not eating, vomiting and very lethargic. Took her to Calumet Emerg. where the vet checked her out and said her stomach seemed tender and needed x-rays. She came back and said she had a obstruction in her intestines and needed emergency surgey. Had I waited the 2 weeks like I was told, my dog would have been dead. Took our dog there for the first time for grooming. Making the appt over the phone, I asked them if it's required to have our dog flu vaccinated prior to grooming. They said it was, but they could do the shot the same day of grooming. I was told it would be $45 for grooming and $28 for shot. I dropped our dog off, and upon picking her up I was hit with a $43 exam fee. I argued that I only brought her for grooming, and that I was told that I'd only be charged $28 for the shot. They said because the doctor had to review her records, they charge an exam fee. Really? I had my Vet fax them the records, and I already told them all she needed was the shot. After arguing, I didnt get anywhere. The groomer did an excellent job, but I don't like being quoted one price, only to be hit with additional fees after the fact. If it were brought up on the phone, I would have gotten her shot at her vet without an exam fee.Read Less

took my cat their after a botched surgery. they cured her infections . then dr kelly gave her a shot in her hip and hit her saotic nerve. now my poor baby is paralized.kept telling me she would be better in a month. came and gone. took her back, now has sore on leg from dragging. young vet said she has feeling HA you can squeeze her paw till flat and nothing. said maybe six months. whole month kept saying shes getting better. worse. mentioned a splint so she would not drag. No, splint would give her sores AH what is that on her leg. told me lie after lie. talked to dr where I work, there is no help for her leg. cry cry cry. they make big mistake and then wont try to fix. I took both of my dogs in to get groomed this week. I was told when I made the appointment that in order to be groomed, they would need a flu vaccine, and it was a two part vaccination. They would both be given the first vaccine at grooming....and then would need to return two weeks after for the follow up vaccine.  I was also told there were be no fee for a vet visit...just the charge for the vaccine.  I got a call the day before their appointment to confirm their grooming appointments and again was told about the 2 part vaccine and again an office visit would not be charged.  Took the puppies in the morning and left them to be groomed.  The person checking me in was not the most efficient person to deal with.  I struggled to hold 2 squirmy dogs while she asked me a ton of questions that she had all the answers to on their charts.  This took quite some time.  Then she has someone finally come and get the dogs taken back for grooming after I asked that she do so...as they were getting very hard to hold as they were squirmy and heavy.  She sent me on my way just asking if they had the correct number for questions or an emergency, which they did...and sent me on my way.  I went to work thinking in my head $40x 2 for grooming.  $28x2 for round 1 of the flu vaccine.  $140 total at pick up.  Imagine to my shock when I hear the bill is $400+!!  I was like WHAT???? Then I told that they were given not only the flu vaccine...but ALL of their yearly shots.  WHAT????  I did not ask you to do this? I did not authorize this to be done.  I can't even fathom why they would think this was OK to even do. After having a conversation with 2 of the girls in the office....one of which I am assuming was the office manager, I am given the excuse that the person that checked me in was new....and was in training.  I was also told that my pet's shot records should have been put in the computer, but they were just in their charts.  They were indeed due to be vaccinated....but I wanted to do that with their vet as this was just the place they get groomed.  And I had until the end of the month to take care of their vaccinations as they are always done the end of March.  I did not want to hear that there was a girl in training.  I did not want to hear that while their shot records should have been in a computer and not in their chart.  And I especially did not want to hear that they were vaccinated WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE!!!!  Thankfully, I did not take them to their vet the week prior to get them vaccinated.  The vet office visit was waived after much discussion on my utter dissatisfaction in this matter.  It was also discovered that the new person in training charged my double for grooming.  So now....my new total is only close to $300. More than double what I had expected to pay for grooming and a flu vaccination. Today I called at 10 am and asked to speak to the owner to further discuss this.  I was told she was busy but would be calling back later in the day.  At 7 pm, I have not been contacted by anyone at the clinic.   While I can be understanding of people being trained...and making mistakes, I can not be understanding of vaccines being given without my knowledge and consent.  I can not be understanding of a reputable vet that would not wish to resolve this issue understanding why this is a problem without so much as a phone call. While the groomer here is amazing....the entire staff besides her seem to lack a lot in professionalism, knowledge and the safety and well being of your pet.  I do not recommend that anyone put their pet or their wallet in this situation. They helped me get stronger when I was found and brought to them an undernurished and very sick puppy. I am much better now, but still need their help since I have a chronic illness. They do their best to comfort me when I am nervous every time I have to come to see them and I always leave feeling better. All of the staff is very caring and compassionate.Read Less
