I have only recently begun taking my kitty to Village East, after my favorite vet left the previous practice I had gotten him established with. Village East was recommended by a friend...and I'm so glad I chose to take him there! The entire staff appears to be extremely kind...and Dr. Kemp certainly seems to deserve her reputation among the staff as "the cat whisperer"! She handled my very timid, old kitty with such compassion & care...I've never seen him seem so cal...m with any other stranger! I was very sorry to lose my previous vet...but I definitely don't regret making the switch to Village East...and I hope that they will be his health providers 'til it's time for him to go to the "Rainbow Bridge". I have been a customer of Village East since the early 80's. This is the finest vet in the tri-state. The staff is excellent in the diagnosing and treating your pet. I have had seriously ill cats and dogs and their doctors have always had the best medical treatment that has pulled my animals back to their healthy selves. I am so thankful that we have these trained, experienced, dedicated doctors available to treat our fur babies. My experiences with their doctors include but ...not limited to are; I had a 28 yr old cat Dr. Smith treated, Dr. Kemp and Dr. Melchoirs pulled my 11 yr old lab back from being critically ill and gave me more time with him. Dr. Miyakowa treated my strays that I am continually adopting. All and any of the vets are more than qualified to treat animals. This is my personal experience. Also I have to give compliments to the techs that do a fabulous job with clipping nails. My dogs hate this and they make it painless. I have tried other 'cheap' vets and have found that if you have a seriously ill pet they will not get the treatment that they need. I wished I had spent the money and got them better help. Also, my time is worth spending a little more money than waiting 2 hours to be seen. In summary, if you are going to own animals please take care of them. Yes they are expensive, but their constant companionship you can't put a price on. My Dad had a saying, "You get what you pay for". We moved away for a while, but are back in town and HAPPY to be back with the Village East staff. Lucy Bleu was having problems with her back leg. Not able to put any weight on it. I took her in as soon as I got in town. They immediately diagnosed her with a torn ACL. Since her operation she is doing MUCH better. Read Less

My daughter Chrissie works there and that is her life is animals,my little dog taterbug has been having sezuires and when she was 4 I took her to vhs to have her fixed and her hip popped out now it won't stay in it breaks my heart that I can't afford to have her checked out.I'm on disability due to my heart.she is 9 years old and the Best girl there is.I had open heart sugrey in 2004 and have only 15 percent of my heart beating in the back if I have another heart attach I won't make it.but I want to thank God we have caring and living people out there that cares for animals. We have been taking our pets to Village East for almost 4 years now and they have always been nothing but amazing. Our initial reason for going was because we had a very sick 5 year old pit that turned out to be diabetic...this required a lot of care. Weekly visits to the office. at first I luvd it, would tell everyone how awesome they were. vet called personally after hrs. always quick in even with short notice. open on saturdays. my baby had surgery so I was super excited that I could take her home that night and not have to leave her overnight in an empty office. when I picked her up she smelt horrible which is somewhat understandable. I told them she pees when nervous. smelt like she came straight out of pound. then when I asked for her blanket and pillow I sent with her it was still folded in bag exactly how I left it. explanation was she was so out of it we just put her in kennel, she had a blanket. (some strange blanket that smelled like who knows who, we slept with her fav blanket so she would smell us while she was coming to). she was so out of it made me think oh nice just slid my baby off table into a random kennel. still waiting on the results 2wks later to find out if we have to put her under again to remove ear when I scheduled I asked multiple times to just remove ear so she doesn't have to go under twice. person who scheduled not only repeated back to me that we wanted to remove all, went to talk to vet to make sure OK. that response was oh I wasn't aware u wanted to remove all. when i dropped her off i was so worried about making sure to tell them all her weird little quirks I didn't remember to say remove all (which apparently was pointless cuz she prob just sat/slept in her piss in a kennel until i picked her up). if we have to go back and remove it will be no cost which wasn't the point. my "baby" isn't a spring chicken. she's 7. didn't want her put under twice. I have taken plenty of stitches out and have access to removal kits so I said happy to bring her in for follow up but it will be easier on her if I take them out, how many did u put in? oh 3/4 not sure. I took my cat to Village East for the first time last week after having a bad experience at a different local veterinarian office, and I am relieved to have found such a great place! Dr. Miyakawa was incredibly kind and helpful and she took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly rather than just rushing me out the door like at some places. We love this office. From front desk staff, to the techs and doctors, all of them are so sweet and kind to our pup. We never feel rushed and they are always happy to answer questions.
