This clinic is full of loving people who care about your fur babies. I have to say this though, i had a German shepherd puppy, she would've been only 14 weeks old today. I took my puppy here and they ended up misdiagnosing her twice. Sadly, my puppy passed away. The first time I took my puppy here to get her shots, and to see why she was vomiting. I mentioned that it may be her esophagus and even brought in a sample of her puke, but both vet visits, they said she was just eating her food to fast/ sensitive stomach. My puppy passed away because she had megaesophagus, and food was not getting to her stomach. Also the second visit, they even noticed that she was not gaining any weight. Now I have to admit that the issue My dog had was very hard to detect. I am saying this because I do not want another person dealing with the death of a puppy, which could've been prevented. If you are concerned with your puppy having a large esophagus or she/he is not keeping food down, take your pup to get X-rays, or somewhere where they can get their vomit tested. Now I have to say all the staff here were very kind and polite, and this message is to only help people make the right decision for their dog! But if they had not misdiagnosed her, and the problem she had was acted on faster, she would be here today, but she is not.other than that prices are great, and they will take good care of your pup if they need shots or grooming! Would come back here.. but please if your dog is puking it may be more than just her gobbling food down to quick! Please prevent another death! Read Less

Amazing. I truly can't even think of a word that describes this animal hospital! Everyone - the doctors, assistants, and front desk - is so incredibly kind & knowledgable. You can tell their love for animals, as they treat each pet like their own. I rescued a dog from China's dog meat trade and flew him to the US and they were so accommodating and helped with his arrival, as he began to get really sick. They were helpful, efficient, and made sure his health (along with other sick animals too) was of upmost importance, and would have follow up calls every time we saw them. The facility is very clean & welcoming; the openness of the clinic is very homey and is not intimidating for animals, like other clinics sometimes are. Thank you, Parkside, you have a forever client! Wish I could give them 6 stars! I started taking pets to Parkside years ago when I started fostering for a rescue group. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Rescue pets are Not the easiest to care for....they are pulled from shelters with serious illnesses and other fosters from this group will drive from miles away to bring their fosters (and personal pets) to Parkside because they know they will get the best treatment! The care that these animals received was A+++. The techs are helpful and considerate when I've brought in even the most behaviorally challenging dogs....I have of course taken my own pets to Parkside and have never had a bad experience. Dr. Havens is my favorite, as his calm personality is most ideal for tendency to get emotional when my fur babies are not well but I've worked with all the vets and had great experiences with them as well. Dr. Haven is the best! I had to take my Mini Schnauzer, Roxy, in to get stitches from an accident that happened at 3am. They called me at 7am sharp and I dropped her off by 730. She's my angel, and I was terrified, but the doc and staff reassured me that she would be ok! I have the utmost confidence in them and will be taking all of my animals there, big and small! Dr Johnson AND Havens both misdiagnosed my cat. For 8 months I treated her for diabetes when it turned out that a shot they gave her for what they thought was vestibular syndrome *they were wrong) caused a change in blood sugar and it mimicked diabetes. By the time I took her to another Veterinarian it was too late. She had cancer the whole time and they never considered anything other than vestibular syndrome. I had to have her put to sleep at age 8. I wouldn't trust them with a fish, and regardless of how many good reviews, if it was YOUR animal the died because of negligence you'd be hurt and angry too. This review is about Dr. Johnson. Our family has been using this Vet for over 15 years with three cats and a recently adopted dog. Overall, unlike Dr. Havens, Dr. Johnson had been one of the worst Vets we've ever seen. First example is when our cat was about to pass away, Dr. Johnson made a sarcastic remark when asked about prognosis and life expectancy: "If I had a crystal ball, then I would tell you. But, I'm also not God". Here's another example with our dog. We suspected our dog of having cataract, as we've noticed cloudy lens and some discharge. When we took her to Dr. Johnson, his sarcastic remarks without doing any eye tests were, "She's fine. She doesn't have cataract. But even if she has cataract, what are you going to do about it? If you have more than $5000 to do a surgery, then go ahead. Do it." Little did he know that another local Vet suggested we do eye tests, and the Vet diagnosed her with cataract and glaucoma. Per another Vet, glaucoma can make dogs lose vision. If Dr. Johnson diagnosed our dog with glaucoma earlier, it could've been better for our dog. Our dog's glaucoma was pretty severe, with doubled the pressure of normal range. Here's another example. Our dog was limping, and expressed pain. When we took her to Dr. Johnson, he said she was fine, and prescribed pain medicine. A couple of weeks later, a groomer pointed out that our dog lost her nail, and she was probably experiencing pain. Our family never brought up anything about our dog limping to the groomer. Dr. Johnson was unable to observe something that a groomer could point out. Our family felt some emotional trauma from Dr. Johnson whenever he made sarcastic and RUDE comments. We never felt like Dr. Johnson cared about our pets. Dr. Johnson is seriously the best veterinarian you could ever ask for. He takes the time to get to know you and your animal and also take the time to explain things to you. Parkside Animal Hospital is absolutely the best place to take your pet in the entire state of Indiana. Dr Johnson is the best veterinarian. Him and all of his staff take amazing care of our bulldogs. Our buddy went in for a surgery on his birthday and the staff still helped are buddy celebrate his birthday with treats birthday hat and pictures with the entire staff. the staff contacted us several times throughout the day and night letting us know how are our buddy was doing. I can't say enough about the care and compassion shown by Parkside to our family. When we first brought our kitty home, we went to the Cat Care Clinic and were thrown medicines and treats and bills that seemed way too high, all without explaining the reasons for all the medicines and treats. When our kitten was about eight months old, we moved and started at Parkside. They return calls quickly, are informative and understanding, and give you the peace of mind knowing that your kitten (or puppy I'm sure!) is well loved. They explain exactly what your animal needs and don't try to let you spend more money than necessary. It's clear they value their clients. When our kitten got horribly sick this week, Parkside had us come in immediately. They met with us and ran tests, and told us the horrible news that he was dying. I will never forget the way their hearts seemed to break along with ours. They were compassionate and kind, and aware of everything your little one needs. When we had to say goodbye at the end of the day, they weren't rushing us out the door or hurrying us along so they could go home- they gave us time to say goodbye on our terms. They were gentle and affectionate to our little guy. We miss our baby so much, but we know that if we adopt another kitten in the future, or welcome a dog into our home, we'll be going to Parkside for any need we have.Read Less

We have been coming to Parkside for at least 16 years and we love it! Dr. Havens and Dr. Johnson are the most compassionate and professional vets in the state of Indiana. The office staff is amazing and so helpful. They have saved so many of our animals that I can't list them all without writing a short story. Our most recent experience was today when, sadly, we had to put our 16 year old great dane lab Mollie to sleep. Dr. Johnson and his assistant came to our home, gave her a sedative, and let us all say goodbye. It really made a heartbreaking experience bearable. They were so supportive and understanding. Dr. Havens saved her when she was 3 months old after she contracted parvo and kennel cough from the pound. The first vet we took her to told us that we should put her down because she wouldn't live past a year old. She lived 16 wonderful years. When our cat Mike passed away from kidney failure in 2010, we were on vacation in Florida and unable to be there when he needed to be put down. The entire staff was with him and they called us, choked up with tears, to tell us that he was not alone and went peacefully. They do great check ups, are prompt with diagnoses and follow ups. I was very pleased with the discussion and advice I was given over the phone.  I called the office around 5:30 pm when coming home  and my dog had difficulty doing a #2 and had done bleeding.  The vet tech asked very thorough questions over the phone.  We came to a conclusion that it was not an emergency.  She indicated that if I dropped my dog off in the morning she could stay all day and they would evaluate her.  The vet tech made sure I was comfortable with this decision. Dr. Hoffmeyer is intelligent, honest, straight forward, KIND & empathetic. Plus extremely reasonable in their charges in comparison to 3 other vets i have tried in Fishers & Noblesville. I started taking my dog here when I adopted her a year ago. They're great! Very friendly and helpful. They answered all my questions, and even encouraged me to pop in for socialization visits because my dog in is really timid. I like that they offer oral flea medication instead of the kind you squirt on the dog's neck. I would avoid having her nails trimmed here, though. They offered to do it, so I thought it was free (or at least reasonably priced). When I got the bill, it was an added charge of $18. I could have gotten myself a manicure for that price! Read Less

We've been going to Parkside for 15 years ever since we had guinea pigs and through having three schnauzers. They are VERY professional and nice people. Our female schnauzer Snickers had chronic Addison's disease and they helped her live a wonderful 5 years after we adopted her. Unfortunately, she developed a tumor in her intestines, causing a bad flare up of the disease. The vets at Parkside did everything in their power to help Snickers, but after loosing a lot of weight and seeing that she was in pain, we decided to do allow her to pass peacefully and put her down. They were very helpful, compassionate and even sent us flowers the day after Snickers passed. Read Less

We boarded our cat for the first time in his 10 year life so we were already concerned about how he would handle being away from home. The staff was pleasant and friendly. When we dropped off the cat, the staff was nonchalant about filling out the paperwork and didn't seem concerned about documenting anything including payment or even times to administer medication even though the cat needs daily injections. The lack of protocol seemed unprofessional. Our friend picked up our cat. When we came home, we couldn't figure out where his carrier was. We found out they kept the carrier there along with his blanket and sent him home in a duffle bag with no air holes which was sent to hold his food, not his cat carrier.When we returned to pick up what they didn't send, there was no sense of concern for their mixup. They said something about likely issues with labeling his belongings. The vet came out and apologized, but the overall sense was a what can you do attitude. I'm very concerned about how he was cared for while we were away if no one questions sending an animal home in a closed bag. An apology has to suffice because there is nothing more that can be done but at the worst, they sent our cat away with a real lack of oxygen issue and at the best we were forced to return to retrieve what should have come home with our pet.We went here, and not our vet, based on price, but would recommend our vet for anyone looking for treatment or to board. We have used Brooks School Vet Clinic for years including treating our diabetic cat and surgery for our dog and their level of professionalism far surpasses what we experienced here. We will use them in the future so we have peace of mind about how our animals are cared for. Read Less

We absolutely love Parkside. I had to run our black lab over last week, he wasn't feeling well and I was pretty worried about him. We were able to get him in the same day I called which was wonderful. The staff is so caring and friendly, they treat Buddy like their own! Within an hour, they had called me back with a prognosis (upset tummy) and I was able to get him that evening. They also have late hours which is extremely helpful for those that work during the day. As long as we live on the northside, we will continue to use Parkside. Highly recommended! Read Less

The staff at Parkside have to be the most professional veterinary staff I have ever had the pleasure to be around.I sincerely appreciate their empathy and understanding when my family had to work thru the loss of one of our cats.  Things were difficult for my family (and I won't bore with all the details) but suffice to say it was handled in a very professional manner above what I would have expected.More recently our other cat was taken in for a checkup and to look at a tumor behind his leg.  The doctor gave us several options to consider as well as a realistic impression of his long term prognosis.I really cannot recommend Parkside enough.  Beautiful facility, professional staff, great hours, very flexible.  We will be bringing our pets here for years to come. We we're recommended to park side by a friend. We are traveling thru in our Rv and our dog needed to see a vet. Dr Gary was one of the most thorough vets I've come across and we have seen many traveling the US. The whole staff was top notch. Parkside is fantastic!  The entire staff is very friendly.  I have a very weird work schedule that bounces around a lot.  From personal experience I can say that changing appointment times or making an appointment with short notice is never a problem.  They are very accomodating.  As for the vets, I've primarily seen Dr. Hoffmeyer.  When I first switched vets, I brought my cat's medical records to Dr. Hoffmeyer.  My cat is diabetic and epileptic...so his medical history is quite lengthy (I'd say it was a good 2"-3" thick)  The very next day Dr. Hoffmeyer called me and informed me he had looked over all the medical records and wanted to discuss a plan of action to help get the seizures under control.  Before I switched to Parkside, my cat, on his worst day, had around 20 seizures.  The average day he was having 6-10 seizures.  The seizures were very mild only lasting 3-5 seconds..but watching my cat have multiple seizures a day was VERY difficult to me and, obviously, they were taking a toll on my cat as well.   After some blood work and tweaking the meds, I am proud to say that I have not seen my cat have a seizure in over 6 months (knock on wood!)  As for the prices at Parkside - they are VERY reasonable.  Between my old vet and trips to the ER Vet, I racked up about $17,000 in vet bills.  If I would have discovered the caring people at Parkside sooner, I would owe considerably less., and my cat would have had his seizures under control quicker as well.  Overall, Parkside is a great place to take your pets.  Everyone is very friendly and the scheduling of appointments is very easy and they are very accomodating.  Everyone at Parkside genuinely cares about your pet. I've been taking my shelties to Parkside for about nine years now.  During that time I've lost an old dog to a brain tumor, brought home two new puppies, and been a foster parent for rescue.  Dr Johnson and his staff have seen us through all the ups and downs with professionalism, honesty, and a sense of humor.  I make the drive from the NW side of Indy because I know they are knowledgable and that my dogs will have excellent care. My shelties are performance dogs and I wouldn't trust them to just anyone.Having fostered for rescue, I've seen a LOT of spays and surgeries done at other clinics, and Dr J has some of the prettiest surgical technique I've seen. Your dog will thank you, believe me.  When my sheltie girl was spayed, the biggest challenge was keeping her quiet during the recovery period. She had a tiny incision, no swelling, and hardly noticed it was there. (In comparison, I have a rescue who was spayed at a different clinic, had a huge incision, and was miserable for days.)   Parkside is also experienced with things like submitting x-rays to OFA -- if this is something that you participate in, you can be confident that they know how to position the dogs and prepare the views. Parkside also has professional groomers on staff who understand breed cuts. Even my rescue sheltie, who doesn't have a great coat, comes home looking pretty. I can drop off my shelties for grooming without ever worrying that they'll come home with their "pants" cut off or something like that. While I don't choose my vet based on cost, prices at Parkside are very reasonable. Before switching to Parkside I was a client at a trendy Broad Ripple animal clinic, and I've probably saved about 30% on my vet bills. Again, this is not my priority, but if I can get the same or better care without paying the Broad Ripple price, I'm not going to complain.Great clinic, great staff! Read Less

The attention to detail the vets and staff give you and your dog is amazing. Such friendly people who clearly love animals and what they do. I have been a client for over 10 years and would not dream of going anywhere else. Dr. Havens and Dr. Johnson are very compassionate. I have 3 dogs and one had to be euthenized. They were so wonderful in making sure that my dog and family had all the time they needed. I took my dog to Parkside for a normal checkup. She had a lump, and while the Vet didn't find it during his exam (promising...), I pointed it out for them to look at. They recommended surgery for removal. Fine. Had the surgery done, but couldn't get anyone to call me with the results. Finally WENT IN and the Vet took a moment to tell me all was ok, just skin cancer but they got it all and I had no need to worry. Fast forward the next year when I went to a quality Vet that actually took interest in the welfare of my pet. Turns out, when they requested the records, not only did the pathology report tell them that the removal wasn't sufficient, but that further treatment was recommended. Except now it's too late... the cancer has spread and I have no other option than to wait to watch my dog die. All because the Parkside Vet couldn't take the time to actually review a report. Pretty sad. So for the sake of your pet, please don't take him or her to Parkside. TERRIBLE VET. Read Less
