I usually work during this vets hours of operation. I received publications in the mail from this vet letting me know my dog was due for exam and shots. I arranged getting off work early to get him in before closing to be told I'll have to pay emergency pricing after 5:30pm. They close at 6! I wasted my time getting off work early to get penalized for getting there at 5:39, the earliest I'm able to get there. I work in Illinois. Emergency hours start at 6pm but pricing starts at 5:30pm??? This isn't a deterrent to patients coming late, it's a money grab! Close at 5:30 when regular vet pricing ends. Emergency hours should start when pricing starts. The hours are deceptive. There's too many vet options to accept being charged extra for making it in when your able within the fake regular vet hours of operation. An attempt to make sure your employees leave on time would be closing at 5:30 giving a half hour buffer if they stay a little late. Trying to make money off those trying to make it when they can is greed not work life balance. Read Less

This is a first come first serve place. You get whatever vet that is available when it is your turn. However, if you find one that you like, as I did, you can ask for them when you go in. This place is amazing! They had to do an emergency surgery on my cat, I was able to apply for a credit care card so I have a year to pay off that bill. They called my to update me with her surgery, and after picking her up, they called me to check on her the day after surgery. Super nice people there, the Drs are amazing. Very clean. Read Less

Today I put my dog down. The vet was terrible she made me and my family feel like we were killing our dog. She said the dog looked healthy when all she did was glance at her. When we told the vet that we already made the decision she grabbed the needles and snatched the dog away from me and put her down...Very judgemental and rude. No empathy whatsoever. I have been taking my cats to Hobart Animal Clinic for over twenty years. I've never once questioned the services and have always followed through with procedures and lab work regardless of the cost. My cat was there for an overnight visit in February and the cost was a little over $400. Last Sunday, they provided a quote for an overnight stay as well as lab work with an estimated cost of $700. As most of you are aware, that overnight visit didn't happen because our cat passed away and we still walked away with a $700 bill. We had to decline cremation because that was an additional charge of $200. I am not naive, I understand that medical services cost money but the cost related to a one hour stay don't seem to add up. I contacted one of the owners today to open dialogue about my concerns with the visit and was hoping to get a better explanation of the charges. I wanted to understand why the ER charge did not cover routine things like obtaining our cat's blood pressure, etc. Instead of reaching some understanding, I got a "thank you for your input" and a doctor eager to get off the phone. The experience was off-putting from the start. The compassionate care I had experienced there before was missing entirely. After such an unsettling experience, we have decided to no longer take our two remaining cats to Hobart Animal Clinic. I've been a loyal customer but with the current owners, I will not recommend the clinic to anyone that I know going forth. Literally the BEST clinic I have ever been to. Every single person working there is so helpful and listens and truly LOVES animals. Our dogs LOVE going to the vet to see their friends and the way my dogs react to the staff is what made me drive from Whiting to Hobart! My dogs are both at ease and happy to see the staff. Do not trust this place. They don't care about your pet, only money and they'll give you the runaround until they feel they've racked up enough. I just wanted to share/warn everyone about how crooked Hobart Animal Clinic is. We got a dog last week, a stray who at the time was sick but we didn't know it until about 3 days later. He was in bad shape & we rushed him to the clinic. He was put in the hospital & we were told a foreign object was blocking his intestines. That night around midnight, I was told he was progressing a bit. The vomiting stopped. By the next morning he was declining & moved to critical care. The surgery was going to cost $3000 but he wasn't a candidate for surgery since he was so ill & underweight. A couple hours later we were told he had an infection, not a foreign object, that they didn't have a name for so they wanted $500 upfront for more testing just to determine the cause. We set up an arrangement & from going back & forth that day if he's better, he's worse- I was advised to put him down. This was still Friday. Come Sunday we get a call that he's still stable ���� I thought he was already gone so I'm confused. They say they're still concerned about this foreign object- the one that I was told was a mistake & wasn't there. Anyway, he's suffering & probably won't progress. At this point we go in to finalize everything again, the second time so he can be at peace. Come Monday night on my way into work, they call me & tell me he's 100% recovered & the bill is now outrageous but they'll waive it all if we sign him over to a tech that works there & wanted him. We went through his 'death' twice & we were lied to & led on from the start. I feel that they did this little by little to detach him from us & jacked up the price as get us to give him to her. The money put in already is still gone. We went in to see him & he still wasn't well, like they claimed but he was much better. Bad experience, they mistreated our dog with lime's disease immunizations when he already had lime's disease by their test determinations, but they didn't tell us he had it, until months if not years later. Later after we discovered he had it, realizing it because of his destructive and disconnected behavior, they lied and tried telling my husband and I we refuse treatment when they discovered way back when that he had it and didn't tell us. Every time we took him back, they never told us, but recommended lime's disease immunizations. Yet, even though they new he had it, and we didn't, they kept telling us during visits to give him immunization for lime's disease as part of his regular visits and check ups. Today, we are still having problems with him and he just chewed up my husband's new car and is acting disconnected, destructive, and crazy. Took my dog there for an ultrasound. Said he needed exploratory surgery. Had it done. Said biopsies said he had lymphoma in stomach and intestines. Were still waiting on liver test. I called every day and nobody ever had an answer for me. 2 weeks later I had to put my dog to sleep. It's been a month since my dog was there and still nobody called to tell me my dogs liver results. Giving 4 stars even though I had a horrible experience. I love this place I really do. I have gone here for many years. This morning I took my cat in for allergies. The first lady brought me back was very very rude. She was talking to me like I was a child. I almost walked out but stayed because my animal needed treatment. I don't ever want to feel like that again. I felt very mistreated and disrespected. When the doc and another girl came in it was great. They treated me and my cat with respect. I love this place have been coming here for a few years! They treat my dogs like family and are always so flexible , caring and really show compassion towards animals parents. And the registration ladies are always so polite and welcoming. We moved to Wisconsin this past summer and I still drive down to bring all three of my babies in (from a mastiff to a cocker spaniel...) This is one of the best animal clinics out there. They were there for us when we lost one of our fur babies, checked up on us and sent us a "I'm sorry for your loss" cards. I have honestly never been to a better animal clinic. My past experience with taking my pets to a clinic has always been that they seem to small, dirty, and smelling like a wet dog is sitting in my lap (and I'm a cat guy). Going to Hobart animal clinic reminded me of going to my regular doctors office. The place is so nice and clean. The staff and vets were so professional that I couldn't tell a difference if it was me or my little buddy that was there to get a shot. Great clinic. Plenty of staff, all greeting my pup and me with a smile and a hello. They always treat Tucker with much love and kindness, even if he's being a shit. They give him treats and good scratches. The Drs are efficient and always present me with options, as opposed to just doing things they feel are necessary. Expectations are always laid out and things are done in a timely manner, even if there is a long line, they get through it quick and efficiently, and I've never been sold short on my service even if they are swamped. After more than 10 years of going there we will not be going back. I was just charged 46.40$ for two tubes of small dog flea preventative. TWO! TUBES! When asked if we could get what we always get we were told they don't have it anymore. That is just the latest problem. Last time i took my two yorkie's in for shots and one of them needed an antibiotic for an ear infection i think it was. Anyway, after i got home I immediately called them back to tell them they had overcharged me over 80.00. They charged me like a month but gave me 14 days worth. It took me less than 10 minutes to get home and call. After i explained the overcharge they treated me as if i was trying to steal from them. After all these years and two surgeries and more visits than i can count. When i got there to get my money back they tried to say it's possible i took some pills out!! The only reason i got my money back is because the vet assistant heard the conversation and told them how many she counted out. I was literally shaking when i left there with my money. Another incident was with a female vet who refused to listen to what we were saying. She was telling us nothing was wrong and i had to insist she look at his chart, which she finally did and realized we were right. But she had a nasty attitude the whole time and i had lost all confidence in her ability. By the time that visit was over i swore i'd never go back there. Today i broke down and got flea meds. I will never do that again. I do want to say that Dr Brooker Dr Baisden and Dr Thompson are fantastic but since i cannot make appointments with any of the three i will never go back.Read Less

Very disappointed in the level of service and compassion I received today. I brought my dog in yesterday for testing. I was told I would receive the results today by 10. Here it is almost 1, no one will give me the results (and they do have them). Apparently the line is too long for a Dr to take a few moments to return my promised call. And yes, I have waited in those same lines three times steady. My pup is sitting at home suffering, waiting for a diagnosis so he can start some meds for comfort. Read Less

This is the best Clinic I have ever dealt with. The staff and the doctors are outstanding and are most caring. I am 54 years old and have had dogs my whole life so I've experienced many different clinics. This one by far is the best. And now they have the emergency ER at night which is even a bigger plus. Hobart animal clinic sucks, they gave my dog lime disease immunizations recently, when they say themselves their charts showed he had it in 2013. Now this was all discovered by their doctors after they gave him immunizations for lime, three times and they jacked him up and the process with misinformation. He hasn't recovered and it has been several weeks. They lied and said they told us he needed treatment in 2013 for a $56 dollar antibody. Like we wouldn't spend $56 to make him better? So they tried to blame us instead of their incompetence in telling us he needed the treatment. When I asked the doctor, if he had lime disease like you are saying in 2013 and we refused treatment like you said, why haven't you told us every time we bring him in for check up and why in the hell did you give him lime immunization when he already had it, instead of treatment. They are a horrible place, wouldn't recommend it ever. My dog may die from this and the misery he is going through with us is bad. Read Less
