Airport Animal Emergi Center

Indianapolis, Indiana
General Info
The Airport Animal Emergi Center in Indianapolis delivers veterinary services designed around domestic patterns to assist Indiana families with steady and organized care from initial symptoms through ongoing health management. During the initial consultation the discussion starts openly examining changes and consistencies while exploring how the pet integrates into family life. Examinations assess bodily wellness alongside dental status while monitoring breathing patterns and evaluating skin elasticity and joint movement in addition to observing any postural adjustments or mood changes. Veterinarians examine issues such as itching and disinterest in toys along with slower movement and altered appetite to determine initial care strategies. Airport Animal Emergi Center delivers vaccinations alongside diagnostics while providing allergy and skin support together with senior pet planning plus dental evaluations and breed-specific risk assessments. Recommendations synchronize with owner schedules and pet behavior patterns by staggering care during busy months or aligning treatments with activity cycles. The examination of seasonal patterns alongside housing configurations and dietary trends combines with social interaction studies to address pets living with children or senior animals. Plans evolve based on pet requirements and family capabilities while considering behavioral signals along with medication effects and energy fluctuations across time. Periodic consultations enable the adjustment of recommendations while revealing overlooked indicators and providing owners with clear management tools for care without confusion or speculation. The Airport Animal Emergi Center supports pet families across Indianapolis and Indiana to develop unwavering confidence throughout every care stage by establishing routines that initiate early response and maintain steady adaptation.

I came home Saturday night around 7:30pm and found my dog passed out with foam around his mouth. I made several calls and then rushed him to Airport Animal Emergency Center. They had me carry Rudy into check in room. Then, filled out forms while they took him to be examined. They came back and said they thought his stomach was twisted. Asked if they could do x-ray. I said yes. Doctor was very nice, came back and said his temperature was steadily dropping and that he only had 5-10 minutes to live. He said they could do exploratory surgery or euthenize him. I told them I wanted to take him home and tried to give them my credit card so I could leave. A young man brought back a form for me to sign stating I didn't want the services they were recommending. I told him I wanted my dog Now. His attitude was very flippant and he would get me my dog when it was convenient for him. He left and I stuck my head into the exam room and told them again I wanted my dog Now as time was critical. They brought him to me and we rushed out to the car to take him home so he could die in peace surrounded by our love. As we were leaving, the younger guy starts chasing my car into the street. I sped up and rushed Rudy home. On the way, I called the front desk and paid for my services. Making sure for her to tell everyone I had Paid. Everyone Except the clipboard guy was polite and friendly. I think if my dog had passed away there, they would have charged me extra fees. I think they were trying to wait me out.... My dog passed 40 minutes later and he was cremated on Sunday. I am glad he was able to come home to rest. PS. I thought the fees for the visit and x-ray were reasonable. Read Less

DO NOT let TIFFANY near your pet!! I'm not sure if she is a tech at the hospital or just a receptionist.Over the phone, she was extremely rude and her tone was out of line. Once we arrived at Airport, Tiffany took us back into a room so she could get my dog's temperature. At this point, my dog had been being poked and prodded for the past 6hr at another emergency hospital. Tiffany tried to get her temp and my dog kept moving. My dog then tried to snap at her out of irritability and fear. Tiffany made remarks such as "well it's hard to get a temp on a moving target," and "oh, you don't want to have your temp taken? We'll see how you do with muzzle on you." I have never dealt with anyone so unprofessional and uncaring at a vet hospital in my life. She shouldn't even be near animals since her attitude seems to show a strong disdain for them. She is the ONLY reason I am giving 4/5 for the overall rating. She is also the only reason that I am giving 1/5 for the professionalism rating.Overall though, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Dr. Gray & her team (minus Tiffany). You guys saved my dog's life with an emergency pyometra surgery. Dr. Gray was very knowledgeable, alert, and thorough, which was much appreciated at 4am. She also was extremely fair with the pricing for the surgery and explained all of the costs. My dog is healing really well and is back to her normal, happy self. Read Less

We brought our dog in, due to her acting lethargic and not eating after being put on a round of antibiotics and steroids due to hotspots. We were informed by the vet that she was suffering from severe pancreatitis/possible cancer. We did xrays and ultrasounds along with CBC, and a slew of other testing. We were given two options " inpatient care" or " outpatient care", neither one came with a guarantee of if or how long she'd live. We opted for outpatient care as we couldn't afford a hospital stay , and they whisked her away, to give some medications, none of which we were informed of until she was brought back to us. When they did bring her back, she damn near passed out, she slumped down on the floor began drooling, had labored breathing, was incoherent, and her eyes were rolled up in her head. We at that point decided this was no life for our dog and made the hard choice to to put her to sleep. This decision seemed to anger the vet. The vet argued with my husband and I about our decision, made us feel horrible about it then slammed the " consent to euthanize" form on the metal examine table and walked out. Nurse walked in, and yanked our dog up off the floor saying " come on get up"( yes yanked up by her body harness, still incoherent ) took her to place an IV for the medication. My husband stayed with her while she passed, I waited in the waiting room out front. The " nurse" then came out and asked if I was ready to pay, rudely told me " cost is $1191" And extended her hand for payment. She ran my card, whilst I stood there sobbing. She then slammed the receipt and pen on the counter and said "sign here". I did. My husband came out and we left. Nothing was said to us as we left. This left us feeling even more devastated by the loss of our beloved dog. We were never asked if we wanted her body to come home with us, or anything about cremation, or about a paw print, nothing was said to us.They were the rudest, most inconsiderate folks I've ever dealt with. While I can't review the facility in itself because I did not actually visit, I can review their staff. My pitbull had a bloated belly, and was very gassy. I decided to call in, and get an opinion, worrying that it would possibly be GDV. While Leigh made it known that if it were GDV, it is time sensitive, but she also told me what signs to look for as a sure thing to bring him in. She didn't automatically say bring him in, as you expect most emergency vets to do to make that automatic $400. She was honest with me, and made me feel relaxed in the situation. She assured me they were there for me at any point of the night, and to call back/come in if necessary. She truly was wonderful, and handled my hypochondriac moment very well. I'm sure I sounded like a crazy woman, but she never made me feel as though I was crazy. Pluto the pitbull is feeling fine today, and thank goodness it was just some bad gas. If there is ever an emergency with my fur babies, this is where I will be. You can tell they truly care, just by speaking on the phone, so I'm more than sure they'd be wonderful during a visit. Thank you, Leigh!!! Read Less

I came here last Saturday because my dog swallowed a chicken bone and was vomiting for 2 days straight unable to keep his food down. I was able to get in a room quickly and seen by the doctor quickly as well. I was scared he might've had to get surgery but thankfully the doctor didn't see anything major after taking x rays. He saw his intestine was dilated in one area but not enough to where he would open him up and so thankful he decided not to. He was very informative and helped me understand what was going on. They got him some medicine to help him stop vomiting along with a couple things to help him till he passed it. The prices were affordable and everyone who helped me was so sweet as well. I dont even want to give a star,  first  of all. Brought  my dog  in on a Saturday night,  and The DOCTOR wanted to euthanize her!  My dog was really sick,  puking, bleeding,  couldn't barely keep her head up.  After waiting for an hour for someone to come  into room ( ughh ) almost left! Dr. Checked my dog with a quick listen to heart & recommended we put  her down! (Jaws dropped,  tears fell! ) through the tears,  I said,  I'll b taking my dog now, Dr said we can give medicine but she will need a $1500 @ the least for a surgery, that most likely will not fix her problem.  Ok give me medicine nd I'll take my chance! We left. .  Took my dog to her vet first thing Monday,  her Dr could not believe the report n looking at my dog,  our vet said she was indeed very sick but a couple weeks on antibiotic   she would b ok.  My dog possibly will need spaded, but that's only if reocurrence,  our Vet said I hope in emergency that you will never go back to that place, my thoughts exactly Doc! Know my dog today is  back to normal,  eating,  not bleeding! & a very thankful dog.  Smh, some people just don't care,  & I see it every time I look at my dog. We've been here with dogs and cats more often than we'd like to admit. The unfortunate truth is that when you work during the day, you don't notice problems like UTI's until you're home to witness the symptoms, so we end up going here quite a bit instead of our primary vet clinic. We don't chance waiting if it could be an emergency.Although we do very much love our primary care vet, the way that they treat the animals here is such that we wouldn't mind having these docs as our primary care if they did offer that service. Super knowledgeable. We ask a lot of questions, and they are always willing to take time and explain things to us. They genuinely care about the animals and have tools and equipment on hand to provide care. X-rays are presented on iPads almost instantaneously rather than having to wait. Pretty cool. One of the advantages to being able to charge more for an in-demand service I suppose. They saved our kitten from a punctured lung (dog attack), and she's still here with us 7 years later. We are so thankful for these docs and their expertise. Read Less

Visited my regular vet who recommended us to them since they have a better equipment to operate a surgery that my vet could not do in a Saturday afternoon. We rushed to this clinic and the vet immediately was able to diagnose the issue and suggested us to start a surgery. My dog did not eat for 2 days and we knew something was not right. My dog did exceptionally well and we were able to pick him up in the same day after 8hours aftercare in the clinic. I was quoted for $23-2700 but ended up paying $1600 instead. It depended on the condition of the animals and see how much medicine and fluid needed during & after surgery. We found out there was an object got stuck in his stomach/intestines and the vet needed to cut my dog opened to get the object out. My dog recovered well and he was able to eat and go potty the next day without problems. * they do require deposit if you decide to have surgery there. They also offer monthly payment via carecredit if you don't have the funds immediately. Going to emergency is not fun but knowing the pets we have are all happy and healthy afterward, it worth the trip. Read Less

This was the worst experience I've had at an emergency vet. They didn't care that my cat had puked, pooped, peed himself, and had stopped breathing at home. They were very quick to throw up money when all I cared about was making my cat better. They tried getting me to pay for numerous tests that were not relevant. After refusing those tests, the Dr. Came in and had a snide attitude with me. Excuse me??? Im stressed out and crying about my cat, i dont need your heartless attitude. He didn't even explain anything which makes me wonder if he knows what he is talking about. I cannot believe how much these people don't care. They took blood from my kitty's neck instead of his leg and did a sh!tty cut job on his hair. When you deal with someone's pet/family member, it'd be best to treat them with respect if you're wanting all this money. Nobody there was nice besides the tech that probably only makes 8 dollars an hour. She has that job because she loves animals and doesn't care about the money. I have always found them to be very kind and caring. On a previous occasion I took my dog here; we ended up having more problems in the night so I called. They were going to be in surgery for a while, so referred me to another emergency vet (who was not as kind as Airport). The Airport staff called me the next day to see how my dog was, and if I had gotten things taken care of. This was definitely unexpected, and I thought pretty awesome. This occasion I had to put my cat down, and they were kind, thoughtful and caring. I was very happy with the care I got. Read Less

I TRULY question the sources of the GLOWING reviews (by someone who can't spell) describing ""compassionate"" ""caring"" and ""reasonably priced"" sprinkled in amongst the reviews that more accurately match MY experience at this horrible place the times that I've had the misfortune of having to go here, which were both in 2011. It was expensive -- I understand that -- not expecting bargain prices or anything... What's absolutely INEXCUSABLE is the cold, uncaring, condescending attitudes proudly displayed by the receptionists that work here. LADIES, go find a job in a Nazi death camp or something where your personalities would be more suitable for the working environment! Not one drop of compassion -- or even mild interest -- in the people and their poor animals that come through the door.... couldn't agree more with the reviewer who said you're treated like an inconvenience here. The vets I've had contact with here are not much better either...especially the one with the foreign accent...I ended up leaving rather than receiving his ""care,"" partially because it was so expensive... but even more so because there was nothing caring about him. Bottom line... if you CAN, go elsewhere, where you can at least hope to be treated like a human being in the midst of a very stressful and painful situation... don't expect it from this place. Took our 4 year old Black Lab here last night after he had had surgery on Tuesday to remove a foreign body from his intestines and last night he began acting bizarre. As every pet owner knows, pets always seem to get sick whenever their normal vet is closed. Thankfully our vets cell number is always on speed dial and he told us to go here instead of Bash St. Emergency Vet, which i normally where we go and have had horrific results there. Our Vet called Airport E-Vet prior to our arrival, which was nice to have the staff already aware of our situation and know all about Beau. Our Vet is a very close friend of Dr. Gull from Airport E-Vet, so he knew he was intelligent enough to know what was going on with Beau. They treated Beau extremely well! Instead of the normal 2 hour wait at Bash St., we were here for maybe 45 minutes max. Dr. Gull takes the time to completely understand your animals problem and decide what the best course of action would be. Even after blood tests, x-rays and prescriptions medicine costs, we still only paid about $315, not close to the normal $2000 bill for the same thing, this was a huge plus! Beau is doing a hundred times better today than he was doing yesterday! Read Less

Having dogs for close to 30 years, I have had my share of emergency vet visits. Understandably, those visist are not cheap. Two weeks ago, our ""terminal"" dog took an incredible downward spiral on a Saturday afternoon through Sunday. We decided to put her asleep that Sunday which required an emergency vet visit. I made a couple quick calls to inquire about availabilty of service, potential waits, and while at it, cost. One clinic had incredible costs, including an $85 ""exam"" fee plus several additional fees to put our dog. Examine fee for a terminal dog that was semi-comotose that had an obvious tumor that was hemoraging? That clinic's phone estimate was approximately 3 times the Airport Emergency. Those folks were kind compassionate and professional, not to mention 1/3 of the cost of the other clinic! I have no doubt where my next cannine emergency will be handled. Read Less

I have heard horror stories about other emergency vets and the outrageous fees they charge! Recently, we had a terrible scare involving our new puppy. A neighbor dog was loose and attached our puppy. We called some other vets in the area. They didn't seem very optimistic about its chances and they thought the bill could run into thousands of dollars. We took our puppy to the Animal Emergi-Center and are so glad we did! They warned us that there could be a great deal of internal damage (which the others had also said). After a long, complicated surgery, our puppy recovered perfectly! During this whole time, the doctor and staff made sure to explain our choices and to explain the costs involved. Our final bill was VERY reasonable considering all the work they did and much less than the others had told us to expect. We highly recommend this clinic. It's just a shame that they're only available for emergencies! Read Less

We broght our Boston Terrier Malone there several years ago. When we arrived, he was near death. It was obvious that we (me and my mom and dad) were very upset. The lady at the front desk was horribly rude and acted as if our presence was an inconvenience, although we had called ahead and let them know we were comming. It was some time ago so I don't remember her name. We then had the priviledge of meeting the Doctor on call. That was even worse. They were very uncaring and rude. I will never bring another animal there again and make sure to tell everyone I know about my experience. They are there obviously there for the money and not the well being of the animals. Read Less

I had taken my cat to another Animal Emergency Clinic and they had ran up a $2000 bill and still hadn't helped my cat. I finally asked to transfer him to another clinic and was referred by my vet to this Emergi-Center. When I picked him up he was filthy and practically in hysterics. After one night at the Animal Emergi-Center, he was doing much better and was perfectly happy to be there. The staff here is wonderful. They treated my cat with love and compassion. When I got him back from the Airport Animal Emergi-Center he was clean, well cared for, and perfectly happy. Dr. Naum was wonderful! Not only did he not rip me off like the other clinic but he was able to help my cat at a fraction of the cost of the regular vet and do it with compassion and caring. If you have an emergency you definitely need to check out this emergency center. They are the best emergency vet in my opinion. Not to mention they have the best prices and the most compassionate staff I've dealt with. Read Less

Airport Animal Emergi Center

Indianapolis, Indiana
(47)
5235 W Washington St
Indianapolis Indiana 46241

I would say anywhere else is better than here. Read Less

I have had a few experiences here, and all have been very good. Obviously if you are bringing in an animal to an emergency vet, things are not good. Read Less

Very impressed with the friendly, compassionate and expert care my dog received.  The vet explained all options and let me choose the level of care I was comfortable with. I chose to have my dog x-rayed to rule out bowel obstruction. The quality of the digital X-ray rivaled that of a human hospital. As a nurse, I was very impressed and I knew I wouldn't be able to get that high a quality of X-ray from my vet. Read Less

The staff that was working tonight, 3/26/13 was outstanding. We brought our dog Delilah in and she was slowly dying. They let us stay with Delilah and gave us plenty of time to spend with her after she had passed away. I'm sorry I didn't get the two ladies names that assisted us because they were both very compassionate and understanding. We have never had to put a pet down before so this was a very emotional time for my family. I would highly recommend Airport Animal Emergi-Center to anyone that needs to see a vet after hours. Thank you so much for your patience and compassion. Read Less

You never want to visit an emergency vet, but if you do, you want it to be one like this. A true five star experience all around.Extremely friendly and genuinely caring staff (you can't fake genuine). I was in and out with my boxer in an extremely reasonable amount of time for basically the same amount of money that my regular vet would have charged. On the eve of a major holiday, even!Love it when a business can turn a potentially negative experience (like an emergency vet) into a positive one. I felt great walking out the door, that was unexpectedly awesome. Read Less

Once again Dr Sheff saved my poor 15 year old Dachshund....her back is out, blood in stool, pancreatitis (sp).  Dr. Sheff is very honest, does not do tests that are not needed, informative, patient, and so smart.  I wish he was a people doctor.  Outside of Greg Skinner, he is the only Vet that I have been to who I truely trust and maybe Dr Kelley!  Usually, if I go to a regular vet, I end up with him any way.  My 2 dachshunds are my kids, stroller, car seat.  I am very picky.....Dr Sheff does not overcharge, outside of initial visit, cost is usually cheaper than regular vet.   Thank you Dr Sheff for taking such good care of my furry bundle of joy!!!

Read Less

Read Less
