I don't know what it is about Churchman but I take both my cat and dog to Dr. Dristas and they both are completely calm there. The staff makes them feel right at home! They are always quick to answer any questions I have and are always happy to answer. If I could give them more stars I would. I will never go any where else! I have been bringing all of my pets to Dr. Chris for the last 21 years, when I first moved to the area. He gave my very first dog (my rescued Rottweiler) her first well puppy visit, and every visit after that for the remainder of my Rottie’s life. He was there with me 13 years later when the complications of her diabetes had reduced her quality of life to the point that we had to put her down. I will never forget the kindness and compassion I received that day, and the genuine empathy I felt from Dr. Chris and from his staff. Since then, Dr. Chris has seen my Boxer since her very first appointment, and I will never take any pet to anyone but him. Anyone who really knows him can see where his heart is: he genuinely loves the animals. His staff is exactly the same way. Thank you, Dr. Chris. I agree with another post on here. If you have little money at that particular moment..forget it. The only way the "doctor" would work with us on payments is if we would let him kill my pet instead of helping it. Doc was not compassionate at all and kind of rude about things. Not to mention my pet was in pain and felt he was a bit inconsiderate and rough in handling my cat. Have not been back and WILL never be back nor would I recommend this vet to anyone. Totally disgusted with bedside manner and ethics. Nothing can be said or excuses made to justify that type of unprofessional behavior. Period! Read Less

Recently received two vaccine reminders for my dog who has been deceased for nearly 1 year now. We spent thousands of dollars with them, putting us into debt doing everything we could for her. Her passing was devastating to us. I called to let them know immediately when we had to put her down, as it had to happen at an emergency VCA since her health declined outside of their business hours. However, it appears that they did not care to deactivate her and update our records. I am 9 months pregnant, so seeing those reminders for her over due vaccines were the last pieces of mail I wanted to receive at this time. Due to this careless oversight, we do not plan on returning. On December 13th we brought our beloved family member Boomer for an initial consultation. Dr.Chris performed not only an initial assessment but provided us with pricing and options beforehand to confirm further Boomers diagnosis. He discussed with us financial situations and our beloved boys comfort and quality of life. Throughout the entire process Dr. Chris, Kayla, and Sara displayed care, respect and compassion for us and our boy Boomer. Sadly, our 13 year old boy was in the advanced stage of cancer and quickly declining. We had to make a tough but fair decision to give him his long deserved rest. I want to acknowledged and thank Dr.Chris and the staff for not only your commitment to quality care and compassion for our beloved furry family member, but your commitment to pet parents and family. They've taken more time to explain my Pet's problems than the vet he's had his whole 12 yrs!The advice will hopefully help him to live a bit longer. Wish I'd had it before :/Update 06/19/2016:My Boston Terrier (Rocky Jones) is still kicking :)He's had testicular cancer for years now, still doesn't seem to be suffering though and can still chase a ball, just not like he used to. I took my 2 dogs to this vet in July of 2012. The quality of care is very good but this guy charges through the nose! WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!This vet thinks that his care is way beyond anyone else and he charges accordingly.He is a good vet but in my opinion he charges way more than he should. It is the lab and rx fees that he hits you with. The exam fees are reasonable. He is a good and caring vet but do not go there unless you have very deep pockets! I gave this place 3 stars because at least the quality is good. VCA in Beech Grove will take all your money and probably kill your pet at the same time from what I have heard. I am not saying he is a lousy vet, I am just saying he charges way too much. If you have plenty of dough then by all means go for it. Read Less

Our family has relocated the Northwest side of Indiana and we wouldn€t consider taking our pets anywhere other than Churchman Animal Hospital. Medical care is certainly not a cheap endeavor and we are by no means wealthy. However, when it comes to the type of care and attention we receive from Dr. Chris, we truly feel we are getting our monies worth. To give you a quick example, I€ve known Dr. Chris to sleep overnight at the hospital just to ensure that animals didn€t have complications after a surgery € how many Vets do you know that would do that? This business is highly experienced, friendly, caring & will promptly help you deal with any questions, concerns or problems with your pets! If you have a life threatening issue with your pets, the entire practice will do whatever it takes to help save your pet. I know this first hand & they will help provide you comfort in the loss of your pets as well. Dr. Dristas will provide you with the best care, you will ever receive! When we have serious/bad test results come back about our pets, HE PERSONALLY calls you himself. Most of all he is very straight forward with us & we wouldn't have it any other way!!!!! Six years ago I decided to get a dog to help me be more active. I found Sophie at a local pet shop and was given a coupon for an exam at Churchman Animal Hospital. Sophie was 6 weeks old and had numerous digestive problems. From the first visit, Dr. Chris guided me through caring for Sophie and her many problems.Dr. Chris is a teacher. On every visit where we need to see Dr. Chris, I learn something new. You can tell he loves what he's doing and wants to share his knowledge.I don't know how to keep this review to a few sentences, because I can't say enough. Yes, we could find a cheaper vet elsewhere, but when it comes to Sophie or my two cats, I will do whatever is needed to give them a good quality of life. Dr. Chris helps me do that by working with me on the cost.Sophie, Lillie and JoJo are not my pets or 4-legged family, they are my companions and my life is so much better with them in it. I will always find a way to afford the best care for them...for me, that's Churchman Animal Hospital and Dr. Chris and his staff. We have been taking our babies to Dr. Chris for 20 plus years. He is very caring and compasionate when it comes to animals. I trust and respect him very much. The staff is also very caring and always concerned about our babies health. He has always been there for any health issues, may it be regular checkups or more serious issues. He has done surgeries and treated them for disease. He is always there and I like being able to see the same vet everytime. Something I will always remember is how he took such good care of my precious Maggie, bless her heart she is no longer with us. I would highly recomend Dr. Chris to anyone! Read Less

Upon entering the clinic, you are greeted by name (& pet's name) in a professional yet friendly, warm & welcoming fashion. You are devoted all the time required & are never rushed through the appointment.Dr. Chris is a wealth of knowledge which is shares with you along with options. He & his staff treat each pet with love, respect & dignity rather it is a cute little baby or a very old & declining one.The individual care provided to each pet speaks volumns in its self. One of our girls had a tumor removed a few weeks ago & Dr. Chris himself called with all updates & results while the office girls watched over her during recovery from the procedure. Dr Chris is so caring about animals. I have never seen this kind of compassion ina vet. The girls in the office are also very caring. Dr. Chris checks on your animalsafter you leave the office. Dr Chris is the best vet I have been to in my 40 plus years of having cats and dogs. I have been a client of Churchman Amimal Hospital for over 15 years and would never consider going anywhere else. He and his staff are the most caring and compassionate people you could ever want treating your animal family. I have been taking my four-legged family members to Churchman Animal Hospital for 15 years and I would not go anywhere else. I always have to tell the story of when my dog had died and I got a new puppy. Dr. Chris held her up and told her she wasn’t his replacement she was his little sister. That’s exactly what I needed at that moment. Dr. Chris and his staff are not only caring and compassionate but also professional and respectful. They understand the difficult decisions pet-owners have to make whether it be choosing healthcare or having to give that “final treatment.” They understand the financial issues we may be facing and are open to using both traditional and alternative medications and treatments. They are always able to fit a pet in an emergency and provide referrals if a test or treatment cannot be offered there. Dr.Chris is the best! I recently had to have my best friend Jake put to sleep after 14 years of devotion to me. We couldn"t get him out of the bathroom where he had collapsed and after several attempts , were at a loss as to what to do. I called the office, and after a few minutes one of the girls told me Dr.Chris would be there.
