These idiots killed my daughter’s Boston Terrier last Tuesday What was supposed to be a routine dental cleaning turned into a deadly display of gross negligence and incompetence. The tech put the dog under anesthesia, the dog puked and tried to wake up, so she just gassed it some more. The dog puked again, apparently dying while she kept cleaning. The vet wasn’t present. So instead of playing with her dog in the backyard that evening she got to bury him there instead. These people should not be in practice. You’ve been warned. Read Less

The staff was very kind and compassionate. They helped me with my sick cat. We had been calling all the nearby vet offices in desperation on a Saturday after most places walk in hours had already ended. The staff was really nice and told me to bring her in, even though the vet wasn't there, and the vet tech would do what she could to help her. I recently adopted a cat from the shelter and wanted to get a well check to make sure that he was in good after he was sick in the shelters care. Although the staff was nice, I felt like the appointment was extremely rushed, being a brand new client I was only there for about 15 minutes. I even had to ask the vet to listen to my cats heart, his response being "oh cats this age usually don't have issues" um well cats can have a heart murmur at any age and if I'm paying $45 for an exam at least present you're looking my cat over. He didn't look at his teeth and was barely in the room long enough for me to ask any questions. If you want a thorough pet exam do NOT visit this clinic. Read Less

When my 11 year old dog started having diarrhea, I immediately drove to Keystone Pet Hospital to make an appointment. When I called the line would say "I'm sorry, there is no one to take your call, please press zero to leave a message". When you pressed zero, it just looped the message again, hence why I drove there. The first visit went okay. Although, Dr. Johnson barely made eye contact with my dog, let alone touch her. He gave her a few meds to help stop the diarrhea and gave me canned food for her to have. I had to take her back for another follow up because she still had diarrhea and was sent home with more of the same meds, again did not even acknowledge. A few months later, she is now constipated. I take her in for another visit and explain that I had been giving her pumpkin to try to loosen things up a bit. The vet tech told me to stop immediately (?) and made a weird face when she felt my dogs stomach. Dr. Johnson came into the office about 10 minutes later and tells me to give her pumpkin and metamucil. I explained to him that I had already been giving her the pumpkin and he just replies with "huh.. that sound have loosened her up" and walked out. AGAIN not even acknowledging my dog. I went to a second vet to get another opinion and turns out she has an impacted colon and an infection in her uterus. She is scheduled to have her spay surgery as soon as possible. If I had not gone and got a second opinion, my dog would have DIED due to his negligence and not taking my concerns seriously. I will never go back to this office again! He relies completely on his vet techs to do the diagnosis and does not listen to the owner, at all. I ask you this : Would you take a child to a pediatrician who ignored your concerns and barely acknowledged your child? I absolutely would not. Read Less

If you are looking for a no-nonsense affordable vet, that cares more about making sure anyone can afford to take care of their pets, than coddling you with free lattes and tea, or even making any sort of profit, then this is your place. I visited Keystone Pet Hospital for the 1st time today. I did so on a recommendation from a dear friend, Vicki Kraemer as I had to put down my pet, Bailey. My veterenarian quote for euthenasia and cremation was over $300. I was quoted by Heidi, the office manager $162 over the phone. When I arrived we were escorted to a private room and give time to grieve. I mentioned to the "vet tech" again what I was told and I wanted to be sure it was correct. No one mentioned anything different. After Bailey was given the injection to put him down, I was then told the cremation was another $230. WOW! My dog was just put down, I'm an emotional wreck and then told this! I'm very disheartened and appauled at the way this was handled. I will NEVER recommend this clinic to anyone. It's hard enought to put down your beloved pet and then told, "Oh, by the way you owe us another $230." The only choice I was left was leave my poor Bailey's body there so they can "hold it" and now I have to go back, pick up his frozen body and bury him myself! So inhumane! I'm deeply hurt over this traumatic incident.Read Less

WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE, NASTY DISRESPECTFUL AND DONT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT TAKING PEOPLES MONEY. HONESTLY I DON'T EVEN SEE HOW THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS!!My children have a pet rat named Oreo, he developed a lump on his back leg so we took his to Kestone Pet Hospital. When entering the smell was enough to make you puke, the woman at the front desk was very nasty puckering her face up when she seen that it was a rat that was in the cage we were holding. She said she had been there for a long time and didnt know that the doctor seen pet rats and to make sure we kept him in the case so he wouldn't get loose. We filled out paper work and was called back in about 10 mins. They sit us in a the room and said the doctor would be in shortly. The doors were still open and we heard the workers and the doctors laughing and they said its a rat, one said ewwww nasty then I heard the doctor say I'll fix it put the nasty thing to sleep, then they all started laughing. Note that my daughter was here with me luckily she was to busy focusing on Oreo to pay attention to them. The doctor came in and I just wanted to stand up and punch him in the face, but didnt. Instead I asked my daughter to step out of the room with Oreo, and asked the doctor how much experience he had with rats, he said he had seen at least 20 rats and did surgery on 6. I then asked him how many animals has he put to sleep because he thought they were nasty, he pause with a surprised look. I then said you know if you are going to take crap about someone and their animals then you might want to make sure the doors are closed and you aren't screaming it. I turned around and we left. I then called back today and asked for a copy of the bill that they charged me $40 for nothing. The woman working at the desk was different then the one that was there before she asked my name and the animals name, she was very nice unlike the one that was there before. I told her his name was Oreo and he was a pet rat, she said oh really we dont see pet rats here. She said ive been here for 9yrs and Ive never seen the doctor look at a pet rat. I said what? He told me he had tons of experience with rats and did 6 surgery's. She said well it must have all been on days i wasnt working. Cause ive never even seen anyone bring a pet rat in. Read Less

My parents took my childhood dogs to this Vet. and I felt if they had no complaints then something they do must be good since my Mother was the hardest woman to please! I have had dogs as large as Bull Mastiff and small as a Chihuahua and all of my dogs got the greatest care. They treated me and the animals with love and me with respect! They have never let me leave their office having a question unanswered. They have always explained the procedures they felt that the animal should have and told me what would happen if it was not done. This Animal Hospital is not full of glamorous furniture or expensive pictures and fancy things, but it is clean and comfortable and the staff are all friendly and helpful! I would recommend this facility to everyone who wants the very best for their family pet if they love and treat their pet like I do as a family member! I have been taking my dogs to the Keystone Pet Hospital for more than a decade. So, they don't have fancy carpets and larger than life portraits of designer animals on their walls--so what? (There are a few killer cartoons, though, and a poster board filled with pictures of years worth of furry friends.) The doctor is superb and places the same demands on you that you would place on him. Take care of your pets. Get their shots on time. Don't let them get fat (he hates that!). They must have heartworm prevention. Then, when it comes time for him to treat them, he is no-nonsense but always gentle and kind to the animals. Most of the staff has been there since I've been coming, which is a very good sign. You can afford this place. You can place your pets in the hands of Dr. Johnson. Took my dog there this morning. My little kitty didn't end up making it, as she was far too sick, but I was sent a beautifully thoughtful "In Memorium" card in the mail. Read Less

Read Less

I had driven by the place several times and never even knew it existed...in fact, I passed it when I was actually looking for it! The Tech and front desk worker were very helpful, especially since my older dog has become less than cooperative during shots. I was so pleased to be done and to have it be low-cost.

Read Less

Dr Johnson, at Keystone, is AWESOME! If you are looking for a fancy office, and staff/Dr who kiss your ass and hold your hand (I know some people expect this), this is not the place for you.

Keystone Animal Hospital may look off putting, as the building is old and it is not in 'the best' area of Indy. I had driven by it numerous times and thought 'oh that is really awesome they offer low cost vaccines to those who have (or want) fur babies but do not have the finances for shots (which can be incredibly outrageous!).I started going there via my dog rescue family.  Each time I went I was more and more impressed by them!  The building might be old and in need of some repairs however, the reason is because they are there for the animals not for money!  The staff and vet are very caring and the prices more than fair.  They truly care and love the animals they treat additionally, they help not only our rescue group but others as well and have even taken in strays.  They freely give of their time, hearts and money!  I started taking my babies there....and if you knew me then you'd know nothing more need be said.Needless to say, I highly recommend Keystone! They ended up so miss diagnosing my dogs condition that he died at the Emergency Vet the next day. I called to let them know that he died. The vet ended up calling me back and then ended up hanging up on me! I have spoken with SEVERAL vets and all of them are shocked at the lack that was done when I first brought my dog in. Not to say that he still would have survived, but when the emergency vet and nurses ask you 5 or 6 times ""really, you were at the vet yesterday and they did not get x-rays?""
