When my cat was diagnosed with diabetes, Dr. Magnusson worked with me to develop a treatment plan and took the time to show me how to do all the medical things (taking blood sugar, giving shots) that seem very scary but with his help seem manageable. They have taken care of my two dogs for the past year. Sky, my large beagle, had a cyst on her tail that needed attention. The cyst turned out to be a serious situation, than initially planned. Dr. Gilliam did a phenomenal job of removing all the cyst and bad tissue around it. Even though it's taking extra appointments, for precaution, Sky's tail is healing nicely. As a furbaby mom I would recommend this place hands down! I have 4 dogs in all one of which has seizures and is on daily medication, needless to say I have been going to a vet very regularly. I have two mini Dachshunds that mean the world to myself and my teenage sons. A little backstory pre-Leo's: We had some bad experiences at a previous vet from a popular national vet clinic chain. The worst:  A comment was made by an emergency vet about "not liking Dachshunds." Let's just say I was thankful that my little girl survived the experience, but I still left in tears. I know it's only human to have preferences, but it is terrible bedside manner to tell a Doxie Mom in the ER with her beloved furbaby that you "don't like Dachshunds."At Leo's, it's wonderful to have a vet that knows how to handle and treat the breed. Doxies have very strong personalities and are extremely loyal and protective of their family. One of my girls did have to be muzzled, but this is for the protection of all involved. And was requested by me. She will eventually get used to the experience and my hope is she will get more comfortable over time. I just did the shots for life - what a fabulous deal!! One of my girls happens to be allergic to certain vaccines and the pre-treatment she received kept any reactions at bay. The pre-treatment was very reasonably priced to my surprise and of course worth every penny! The only thing negative I have to say (which is my personal issue) is that my girls need dentals and it's going to be a total struggle to pay for it. Not to mention I am very nervous about the procedure itself. My heart has been heavy knowing that my girls have to wait for the treatment while I try to earn the funds. I read several reviews before I wrote mine this evening. I noticed one lone poor review from a Yelp user that described Dr. M as being "awkward" and "unfriendly". Dr. M seems to be very soft spoken, but at the same time gets right to the point in an honest way. Perhaps it could be viewed as "awkward" and/or "unfriendly" by some. I call it "tough love for pet parents" or empowerment. All in all, I recommend Dr. M and Leo's. I'm curious to see if Dr. M and staff read these reviews. ;) Read Less

Miss Daisy and I both enjoyed the experience from start to finish. Miss Daisy is the world's cutest American Bulldog/Boxer, in case you were wondering. I'll add Daisy photos to this review for kicks.The personal touch at Leo's Pet Care takes the experience to the next level. You can't help but leave knowing they truly care about the health of your pet and client education. In Daisy's case, we had a yearly check up, nail clipping, heart worm test and two non-cancerous tumors tested. All good for my "80 yr. old" pup. I needed a Dr. for my bishon i just moved into the neighborhood. She was really sick and my husband saw Leo's Pet Care when we were getting gas. So i took my sugie in and it was a wonderful thing that i did. The Dr. and his staff were awesome!!!! They were kind and took great care of her. She ended up having to have surgery to remove a huge stone that was in her bladder.Again they were all wonderful did a super job with my baby girl and now she's healing and feeling like a new puppy. Their dedication showed from the moment I walked in, and it was obvious that, not only are they professional and knowledgeable, but that they genuinely love animals (seems like it would be obvious, I know, but I've been to vets where this clearly isn't the case. The casual affection Jen showed my cat was as if she were her lifelong pet). Dr. Magnusson was very clear and thorough in his explanations, and, while many vets (or doctors) seem eager to get you out the door, I was the one who actually ended our session by asking if there was ""anything else"": he seemed willing to stay and answer questions far longer than any other vet I've ever met. Last week my cat needed some medical attention. I?d heard good things about Leo?s Pet Care so I called them. Imagine my surprise when Dr. Magnusson himself answered the phone and listened to my cat?s issue and gave me suggestions on how to help her until my schedule allowed me to bring her in the next morning. Once we arrived, she was frankly scared to death and unfortunately for her, Dr. M. had to do some unpleasant things to help her. But he and his assistant Jen were so nice to my cat and did all sorts of things to calm her and comfort her. She was pretty upset, which upset me, and they calmed me down too. They brought a bill out and went through it with me before they did anything, so I understood exactly what needed to be done, why and how much it would cost me. More importantly, I?m glad they made her well, but I was so impressed with how they treated her. She got better treatment then I do from my own Dr. They even followed up the next day to see how she was feeling. I ""met"" Dr. M on Twitter about a year ago and he has always been great about giving advice and calming me down when I was freaking out about something - even though I wasn't a client of his. Then, in October, my senior pug Romeo had a scary emergency and I was unable to get him in to see our regular vet. I called Dr. M and he literally dropped everything and told me to come right in. I was floored! He didn't offer me his next available appointment, he listened to what was happening and let me come in right then. AND HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ME! When you're looking for someone to care for your loved ones covered in fur and walking on four legs, you want to make sure that you work with someone that you trust with your pets' care. We're happy to say that we found that with Dr. Greg. We came upon Dr. Greg by chance, but we're very thankful that chance came along because we have been back every time there's a health concern with our pets. He takes the time to explain what's wrong with your pet and different lines of treatment and does it in a way that makes sense to you (while being cost-efficient). I would highly recommend and have recommended people visit his office as he has state-of-the-art equipment and can handle most any situation that you may encounter. I took Whiskey (a five-year-old black lab/chow mix) to Leo's Pet Care for a spaying surgery as well as yearly check-up. I was nervous about the surgery and the entire staff did their best to quiet my fears and assure me that she would recover quickly. Part of my visit included a standard exam. During this exam Dr. Greg found an issue with her teeth; She had not one but two cracked molars. She had been chewing on something that she wasn't supposed to be (shocking!) and hurt herself in the process. Luckily he noticed the cracks before they became infected or worse, saving my dog from agony down the road. What's interesting about the cracked molars (to me at least) is that I get her teeth cleaned every eight weeks and they had failed to mention her discomfort to me. He spotted and corrected a problem that others neglected to notice. Visit Highlights * Clean, modern facilities: the exam table moves up and down! I just took my dog, Grady, here for the first time after being in search of a great vet in the area. I couldn't be more pleased with the experience that I had today. The office staff was extremely helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make sure that Grady's visit was a pleasant one. I have lived in the area for many years and as an owner of several dogs I can tell you I have tried all the vet's in the area. I always go to the ones that get me the best deals for whatever care I need for my dogs. Leos had just opened and I gave them a try. I loved the office staff that was helpful and friendly and Dr. Magnusson was the first vet that did not try to high pressure sale me into more expensive test. He started trying basic things to save me money then worked from there. I have two Shepard that have had stomach problems and other vets wanted to run tests and x-rays. Dr. Magnusson ran a blood test and gave me some special dog food that solved their problem. He explained test results for another dog in plan simple terms and put her on medication that worked wonders. We rescued a mother cat and 5 kittens. Mom was very sick and they saved her and checked out all the kittens so they could be adopted out. I have never used a vet so much in one year. He gave me a fair price and really looked out for the best interest of the pets. I won't be shopping around any more. He has a loyal customer for as long as I have pets and he stays in the area.
