We took our guinea pig to this doc. Man EEKS! Me thinks not. First the vet said she spent well over an hour explaining to us our options and his condition. I have cell records to family that - no she did not. As we were told he was dying of cancer. We were not allowed to sit in the room, and were rushed out of there into the very small clinic waiting area with a distressed animal with large dogs and cats, one dog was actually a great dane. We didn't have a chance to even wrap our minds around what we'd been told. Plus it was pouring down rain outside. What we were to do from there. She told us the x-rays were 90.00, but charged us 95.60. When we needed to follow up in two weeks with another vet we took him to his original one in our home state. We called ahead and asked for his records and x-rays be ready. She took it upon herself to mail the x-rays to the vet in Fern Creek, without our permission. When we went to pick up the x-rays and records, there were no x-rays. Luckily I was smart enough to pick up the records the day before, as his regular vet wanted him to see a specialist. So, I had to go from Indiana to Fern Creek to Dorsey Lane because they decided to take it upon themselves to mail x-rays. When we did get his records it specifically stated on there that she thought that it was most likely an abscess, but had told us and my daughter's godmother that it was cancer and he didn't have much of a chance to live. It was blatant in his records she thought one thing and said another. When confronted on this issue, she said she'd spent hours with us explaining, and a normal emergency visit - which was scheduled a week ahead, so I'm not sure how that translates to an emergency visit - sick visit yes, but not emergency - but those visits are only allotted 20 minutes and a regular visit 10. I was flabbergasted. I know people think that "pets are just pets," especially exotics, when they are nicknamed the "pocket pets" of the pet family, but these little guys become apart of your daily routine, a apart of your life. So when you're paying out of pocket, about the same as you would for a doctor's visit for yourself, you expect a vet of all people to treat your pet with the same respect, as well as you and your family, as if that were a family member on that table. You wouldn't expect your doctor to say, well I think it's an abscess and tell your family that you have jaw cancer and you could die soon, put you on pain meds and antibiotics and expect you to be in and out in 20 minutes or less, would you? That's a rhetorical question. But it just goes to say, I trust this vet so little to be honest and ethical, I won't even fill his prescriptions here. I am going above and beyond what I should have to do to get his prescriptions - which are only to keep him comfortable until he has deteriorated enough to put him down - because right now the meds are keeping him comfortable and he's eating and drinking fine with some minor modifications to bowls and water bottles. In the end, she refused to admit she was wrong on any account, the x-rays she took were useless, and the time she spent with us was useless, so the only thing she would offer is half back on the x-rays or nothing at all. Half back on the x-rays she over charged us for in the first place. How kind of her. I hope that this yelp serves as a lesson to anyone with a pet in this area - FIND SOMEONE ELSE. This vet should not even be in practice. Read Less
