Adrine was very polite on the phone and sorry that she was unable to accommodate us. However, the news that even though I do take my dogs to the vet and keep all they're shots updated, (because we do a lot of camping at state and Federal parks) They would not be accepted because of a shot they require, was quite a shock. I understand that they don't want any spread of disease but the four week incubation period on their so called "flu Shot" not possible for me to accommodate. I love my dogs and will not be giving them a "worthless" flue shot (according to recent studies). Thing is, my vet has never recommended a "flu shot" for my dogs, and if they did, I would probably decline. The health of my dogs is more important than the money that seems to be being made from these "flu Shots". I have had friends that have gone threw that with they're beloveds, and I don't wish that on any animal, however after consulting with my vet, they still will not accommodate me. The only reason I have not given them a 1 is because of the awesomeness of Adrine. I could tell that she was sympathetic to the problem and did what she could. Read Less

The veterinarians and staff here are very kind, knowledgeable, and put the health of your pet first. The facility is very clean, and well equipped. The prices are comparable to other veterinary clinics in the area, even though they are one of the few AAHA accredited practices in the area. They have extended hours. They have someone on site to take care of hospitalized pets at night and on weekends, which is something many clinics do not have. They also have grooming and boarding services. I've been a client since I was a child going along with my parents. Eastside Animal Hospital has caring staff who enjoy our pets when they visit for a check up. They also are able to take care of of emergencies. They're AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) Accredited too so they have higher standards than most. We've been going here for years. All the Vets are professional, however, we always prefer to see Dr. Crum. She is friendly, listens, and is so good with my two little dogs. I've been utilizing Eastside for approximately 10 years. My furbabies are treated as if they were the staff's own. Very pet friendly and loving staff. I've moved over time and am approximately a 20-30 minute drive to cross the bridge but I wouldn't take my girls anywhere else. We love Dr Powell and all the other vets who take charge in a visit where we need to get the girls in quickly. I appreciate all Eastside has done and continue to do. Read Less

The only reason for the 4 stars is because they are WAY over priced on some of their procedures. I Had a estimate of $690 for a procedure then went to my other Vet to get second opinion and quote. The procedure was $215. So their is a great deal of up-pricing. The staff are incredible! Great doctors and even more importantly the Care staff that do everything else. Eastside is amazing. From a friendly staff to a nice facility. Dr. Gatewood is amazing! She has treated all my dogs of their various ailments. And she takes her time with my anxiety ridden boy that just doesn't want to deal. She has gained his trust and taken the time with him each time to make sure he gets the treatment he needs. I'm not sure where to start. I have taken my dogs to Eastside for several years to be boarded, groomed and also for medical care. Each and every situation has been fantastic. I feel the staff and all of the doctors go above and beyond for everyone. I recently brought my Yorkie Poo in and he had to be put to sleep. It was a difficult decision my husband and I made. Our sweet dog was struggling and we couldn't stand to see him suffer. I took him to Eastside, and they were wonderful and so compassionate. They put Eli (my dog) and I in a private room with a Wicker couch and played some soothing sounds of wind chimes. I had brought a blanket and stuffed animal and held my sweet Eli until the end. It was one of the most difficult decisions my husband and I have ever made Over the years we have chosen Eastside Boarding for both of our dogs when we go on vacation. Our Chihuahua is very shy and picky. One of the doctors called me while we were in Florida because my Chihuahua wouldn't eat. She even went and got him his favorite food, hoping he would eat. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!    I had my dog there 2 times in the past couple of months both times for a slight cough.  The first time they said he was just an old dog and that's what happens.  Second time they gave me antibiotics and a steroid.  One week after the last time we had him in he stopped eating became lethargic and lost the use of his back legs.  He was also having a problem breathing.  We called the vets office on Sunday because we knew it wasn't a good situation and he probably would have to be put down.  The vet who called back after 2 hours said "I really can't do anything by myself".  So we waited until Monday and took him in.  They put him to sleep.  We were told he had cancer either cranial or upper respiratory.  One of the symptoms was a low temperature.  They had taken it a week before.  They said they would only have noticed if they did a catscan.  Why didn't they suggest that.  It certainly couldn't have been the money.  They charged us over $400 the first time and almost $400 the second.  I think they just didn't care because he was old (12 years).  He was our baby and he shouldn't have been made to suffer.  DO NOT GO THERE !!! This was my first visit to Eastside Animal Hospital. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We were taken back to see the doctor very quickly. All fees were discussed prior to any tests/exams being done. Doctor was very good, and gave me a lot of information about my dog and things to look for that may indicate possible health issues based on today's exam. I am very pleased with the whole experience. The exemplary care provided by the entire staff at Eastside Animal has been consistent for the last 15 years for our animal menagerie that has included reptiles, cats and dogs. Both the annual checkups and emergency medical situations have been addressed with amazing skill, efficiency and compassion. It is clear that the staff and physicians place the best interest of each animal at the forefront but effectively and honestly communicate with owners about care, options and costs. I don't recommend this place at all! Waiting in the waiting room over an hour past my appointment time is not OK! Then when the doctor comes in to the room she doesn't even introduce herself! And of course, this is after waiting an additional 20 minutes after I get to the room to even see the doctor! Also, my friend who is currently in the army (serving 22 years) was severely disrespected by not only the doctor but also her staff!When she mentioned that she thought overcharged by needing the dog "sedated" to have her paw re wrapped AND a day care charge for them to do it, the "real" Doctor decided to emerge and promised a FULL refund of her money which was a LIE. They never refunded her money and the doctor disrespected this SOLDIER in front of her child. I had a fantastic experience at Eastside animal clinic. I was referred to this facility by my next door neighbor, she could not say enough great things about this place. She was right! They took great care of our brand new 8wk. old Dachshund Woodford- "Woody". From my first contact with the receptionist to Dr.Gatewood and her tech Bethany-EVERYONE was very kind, patient and informative. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. As I read through all the reviews I am not surprised to see many 5 star reviews. All of my fur babies have been going to Eastside for many years for routine care. They have played an important role in helping me to keep them healthy. One of my dogs requires special care (extreme anxiety) and in the past when no one else could help, Eastside has! I don't even know where to begin. My daughter just moved to Jeffersonville in Sept. Our black lab has always been her baby so of course she took him. In less than a mo. Jake lost 10 pounds. She took him to Eastside where she expected to find out he just wasn't adjusting to the move. Instead, she was told that at his age, 9 it was probably cancer. Shelby called her step dad. She was too upset to talk. The doctor got on the phone and explained the situation. I drove all night to be with my daughter as she let her best friend go. What an awful thing to go through. Eastside made it as peaceful and special as it could be. They had only seen Jake for the first time the previous day, yet treated him as one of the family. I can't say enough about the caring doctors and staff at Eastside. They sent my daughter a sympathy card, as well as had a tree planted in Jakes name. I wish they could doctor me!!! It can be a touch daunting to find a good vet.  My little furmonster is my baby, pain in the butt at times she can be, and I don't trust just anyone.  I also have this innate fear that I'm going to get ripped off with unnecessary tests, shots, and misc. fees.  (I have had this experience before at another vet!)  Nonetheless, my 13 year old cat needed a check-up, and Yelp hasn't steered me wrong.  The best?  They're on time, very thorough, and extremely kind.  The vet tech was so gentle with my (very irritated) elderly kitty and asked tons of questions, recording every step of the way.  The vet spent a good amount of time with my pet, and when my cat threw an absolute tantrum about getting her temp taken, the vet moved on.  Instead of putting my pet into a full-on stress meltdown with tests, she did what she could while loving on my cat.  I so appreciated that.  The vet gave me a folder full of care tips for older kitties, reviewed her food, and made excellent recommendations.  My kitty needs some urinalysis, and since I don't have money just falling out of my pocket, they noted that Wednesdays are 10% off days for procedures.  Every little bit helps!  I won't be taking my cat anywhere else.  This is her primary doc from now on! I am new to the area and a friend recommended Eastside for my family's pets. I called to get wellness checks and immunization appointments for our cats set up. After telling the receptionist I was a new to the area and wanting to set up wellness checks for my cats she put me on hold. After about 5 minutes someone came back on the line to ask if I had been helped, I of course said no, I was put on hold again. Another 5 minutes went by and someone came on the line and asked if I had been helped, and again I was put on hold. I continued to hold for several minutes but after being on hold for about 20 minutes I just hung up. They must not be wanting new patients if this is how new patient calls are handled! Read Less

My family and I have been using Eastside for the past 12 years or so. They've taken care of my parents' dogs and cats and now they're taking care of mine. They're always easy to work with and it's easy to get an appointment within 24 hours, or sooner, if you have an emergency. Recently, when my cat had to have surgery, they were great about being up front about prices and options and really let us do what we needed to do to help our girl without breaking the bank. We love Eastside! Our fur baby son, Chippy (cat) has been going here his whole little life. They have extremely caring and skilled staff. The doctors here will always have a special place in my heart for saving Chippy's life. We had no idea that Chippy's body produces bladder crystals. He is now on a prescription food diet forever. Eastside carries the food and it's always in stock when we need it. They have an awesome website where you can stay up to date with your pets needs. We made a reservation a week on advance to leave our dog here for the night as we were coming through town. We made sure to ask about all of the vaccines and forms we would need from our vet. When we arrived, we were told that our dog would need an additional stool sample to check for parasites for $20 in order to stay because our vet didn't do one. Having no other options we were forced to pay. Be careful to ask specifically to make sure your animal has ALL of the extra tests they require before you make plans. Read Less
