We have been taking our two dogs (a chocolate lab and a lab mix) there for over 5 years. One of our dogs has a heart condition, and they work well with the Purdue cardiologists to determine the treatments necessary, and after two procedures at Purdue, they are comfortable with New Pal handling ongoing care needs. Needless to say, their service is excellent, and we feel that our dogs are getting the best care possible. The staff and doctors are accommodating in every way, and they do price matching on their medicine which is helpful. They even help send in rebates when possible. I would recommend them to anyone. NO Stars, but to post I need to put at least 1...!!!!!! I was in your clinic with Lilly Hauser on 1/23/18 because she was in bad health and possibly needed to be put down. It happened so quickly, that I immediately got her in the car and drove to your vet due to the emergency at the time. Lilly could not walk, so I had her wrapped in a blanket and I did not have an appointment because it was an emergency. As soon as I walked into your clinic, I mentioned to your staff that I did not have an appointment and it was an emergency. Apparently, you had one vet working at the time and there were 4 appointments that I had to wait on. I arrived around 10:40 AM and they had two different patients in a room, which meant I had to wait for the two additional patients to arrive to the vet clinic. Why would they have us sit in the lobby with my dying dog for over an hour!?!?! What if a kid was in the lobby and saw this? They would have been traumatized. Then I heard comments of aww look at the dog and so on… I was very disappointed in your staff! This is one reason I stopped going to your clinic because I felt that the people were not as personable as they used to be when it was a smaller clinic. Also, in 2017, you could not get me in for Lilly’s ear infection. The only day I could get in was a Saturday and your staff said it would be at least a month. I decided to go to The Vet in New Palestine and they got me in immediately. I felt so welcomed when I was there and decided to stay with them. While we were in the lobby at the New Palestine Veterinary Clinic, Lilly was snotting all over and I finally had to ask the blonde hair lady (with a braid) for Kleenex’s. Instead of her handing them to me, she set them up on the counter when I had Lilly in my lap and obviously, my hands were full. They did mention if I did not want to wait that I could go to an emergency vet. By the time I would get to an emergency vet, you would have been able see Lilly so I decided to wait. Finally, Doctor Hostetler was able to see Lilly once everyone left the clinic. I will say she was great with Lilly and so were the helpers We talked about her quality of life and I advised her that we always had a plan that Dr. Hildebrandt would come to the house for $50 for the euthanasia. The staff mentioned you were out of town on vacation and I set up arrangements with Dr. Hostetler to come by Wednesday or Thursday (the latest) to put Lilly to rest. The doctor and I confirmed everything around 6:30 PM Tuesday evening (same day I was there with Lilly). Dr. Hostetler said she would confirm the following morning (Wednesday morning) and the other Veterinarian Dr. Frank called and left a voice mail in regards that they could not come to my house to put Lilly down. Lilly at that time could not move and we had her in the bed ready for her to be put down. This was my BIGGEST fear for over 17 years that something like this would happen. The reason they cancelled the appointment for Lilly was because they had a bad week and only had 2 Veterinarians working that week. Well guess what? I had a bad month with 3 funerals and then having to put my dog down! All I heard was excuses and that does not go well with me. THANK GOD for The Vet in New Palestine because they closed their office early that Wednesday to come to my home and put Lilly to rest. I saw this as a blessing because like I said earlier, they are more personable and would do anything for the little fur babies. He's had severe diarrhea and I tell the lady at the front desk this and she asks do you have an appointment? I replied no she asked have you ever been here before I replied no. She said well we're about to have a staff meeting so there's nothing I can do. Honestly it's a shame bogus staff meeting is more important than a sick family member! Extremely disappointed with my visit today. My dog is 6 and I have never had issues having her nails cut at her normal vet. Decided to give the new pal vet clinic a shot since we just moved here, and it was just awful. First of all it was $21 for a nail trim, I usually pay $5 at my normal vet. Second, they brought her out with 3 paws trimmed and one not trimmed. Told me to leave they'd give me a call after asking the Vet if they could give her medicine. Called back and told me to come pick up medicine (to cut one paw!) that cost $24. And that I should give her the medicine next time I tried to get her nails cut. $45 for a nail cut! no thank you. I will not be picking up the medicine, and I will not be coming back. Instead I will be driving $40, paying $5, not giving my dog unnecessary medicine, and leaving with all 4 paws cut, not just 3. Great clinic, staff is always very friendly with our pets, and listens to our concerns and offers good advice for treatment. They will work with you if you have an issue with their service. One of the techs even stepped in to groom for us when the groomer wasn't available. Read Less

We drive 30 minutes just to come here! Everyone is awesome, and our German Shepherd pup, Boomer LOVES coming in! Literally runs to the front door as we pull up! Wouldn't recommend anyone but them Dr Frank is who we go to most of the time! Read Less

We are very happy with Dr Hildebrandt and give him 5 stars. It is the groomer we are EXTREMELY unhappy with. We made an appointment for our golden retriever and were told the grooming would be breed specific. We have never had one of our goldens shaved for what she calls a "potty patch". We are extremely unhappy with what was done; the shave extends into the inside of his hind legs. He now has a large area where his fur is completely shaved. We will never take another dog to this groomer.Read Less

My dog has been going to New Pal vet for 14 years. I have never had a problem with the vet, but their groomer Christine is AWFUL!!!! Because of her, they have lost my business. I will never take my dog back. On their website, it says Christine "is happy to work with challenging pets." THIS IS NOT TRUE. I have taken all my animals to Dr. Hildebrandt for over 25 years. He was in Indy and moved to New Palestine. I would travel to another state for my animals to see him. He is the greatest vet. So caring and truthful. I HIGHLY recommend him. Read Less

I have not been to the new facility, only the old blue house that sat close to the road when Dr. H was the only vet.  My parents took all my childhood dogs here growing up.  The reason they stopped was because Dr. H misdiagnosed a breathing problem in their puppy that almost caused him to die.  Luckily they took their puppy back when he didn't get better from the meds and Dr. H had a fill in Dr. that day and she knew right away the severity and sent them to an emergency vet in Anderson, where they did surgery to save his life.  My parents are thinking of going back here, so I'll update my review if they do. I met Dr. H over 25 years ago in Indy when my bunny fainted. He was the only vet on the Westside that would take a look at him. After that my father and my sister took their animals to him. I would drive to another state if I thought my dog needed anything seriously worked on. He is honest and has told me when it was time to let my dog go over the rainbow. He is a saint to animals. Wonderful place with wonderful people. One of my puppies was having a stomach condition causing her stomach to bleed due to anxiety. The vet did everything he could to take care of her, including accepting her to stay the weekend, even when they typically don't have pets stay nights or weekends. My rabbit fainted about 35 years ago and I called all kinds of vets. Dr. H was in Indianapolis at the time. He was the only vet that said bring my bunny and he would take a look. My bunny lived a long happy life. I told my family about the greatest vet (and gentleman) I had met. My father, sisters and I always took our pets to him. If my dog ever has an emergency I only trust his word. God gave that man a gift for all animals. Read Less

I love Dr. H! I used to live close but have moved. I don't care. They are very personable and have a "lift" for larger dogs - German Shepherds... I go by the way my dog reacts and he loves them too. You can call and talk to them on the phone and get suggestions if you can't afford to bring your pet in right away. They are definitely there for the animals; this includes the entire staff. I live more than an hour away from this vet, but I will drive even in a foot of snow to take my pets here. Seriously, I tell friends and people who are looking for a vet how good Dr. H is and they are kind of doubtful UNTIL they go. Had my first visit with the vet and appointment for grooming. The vet was great - couldn't have asked for anything better. The groomer on the other hand was awful. First she reeked of cigarettes then proceeded to butcher my dogs hair. I have never been more dissatisfied with a groomer in my life. She wouldn't listen and just made an annoying laugh everytime she would talk. Use them for the vet but stay away from the groomer. Read Less
