Last Monday was one of the hardest days of my life. I brought in my Chihuahua Diego who had congestive heart failure and was turned away from another vet who couldn't see him. VCA Stoney Creek told me to come in immediately and unexpectedly and horribly Diego's heart stopped while they were performing the necessary tests to help him. I was a wreck and the staff was very understanding and compassionate, allowing me to say goodbye and giving me time and space to say goodbye to my baby boy. I have some solace in the fact that Diego's last moments were spent being well cared for in a safe place and I just hope he knew how much his mama loves him. Read Less

We had gone to Stoney creek for years. Had two successful runs with a golden retriever and border collie. It wasn't until recently we started having issues.
The incident that sent us to park side animal hospital was an incident involving my soon to be deceased blue heeler. We had taken him in for excessive vomiting, increased aggressiveness, a wobbly gate, and far away eyes, struggling to focus. The vet said it was most likely nothing, even though I specifically brought up the likely diagnosis: brain cancer. The vet treated the case like it was just another block to check, and sent us on our way with nothing but an unsuccessful blood test. A week later, my dog's wobbling like a tall plant in the wind and can't walk. The worst part is when I call the clinic, they tell me they can't do anything for him (meds) until the doc got in the next day. After I calmed down from my partial coniption fit, I took my dog to park side animal hospital. They put their heart and soul right on the front lines. It had a family vibe to it. They got us what we needed, and are very good at calling back. I don't know if an early diagnosis would have saved my buddy, but the fact he had all this evidence in front of him and thought of it as 'nothing' made me leave Stoney creek for good. Personally, the guy seemed like he got good grades in vet school, but has no critical thinking skills. If you want a place that cares, go to park side. Read Less

My dog was scheduled to have eye surgery and the weekend before I was told the vet had a family emergency and I would get a call to reschedule on Monday. I had no problem with this and waited for the call Monday but I never received one. I called Tuesday and they first asked if this was regarding a different dog. I said no and they told me a vet tech would call me back. No call. I called again Wednesday, they answered again asking if he was a different dog, and he was finally rescheduled for a month after the original surgery. I felt as though they completely forgot about my dog. This was my first bad experience with them so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and use them for his second eye surgery. The second surgery was scheduled with the wrong vet though they did call me to reschedule and got him in much quicker this time. Between these two surgeries my dog had and other visits around 5pm (surgery pickup time) I've watched an overload of owners wait in line to pay with whining, scared dogs. In addition, my first vet left and I was never alerted of it until my next appointment when I was told who the new one was. Both vets and the tech I continuously had during appointments were great to my dog but the constant messes I had to watch and deal with were enough for me to take my business elsewhere and not recommend them.
