Salem Veterinary Service

Salem, Indiana
General Info
Salem Veterinary Service is renowned for its compassionate and holistic approach to animal care, nestled in the heart of the local pet community. Salem Veterinary Service ensures that families in Indiana receive consistent support from experiences such as the arrival of a new puppy to help with behavior transitions and life events. The appointment creation process requires listening to the pet’s behavior patterns, household routine dynamics, and family observations on a weekly basis. During initial consultations, extensive physical evaluations are conducted to look at dental health, gait patterns, joint mobility, eye conditions, body hydration levels and nervous system function. Owners can report recent behavior alterations like sleep, appetite, and handling tolerance. They help define the care trajectory and pace it appropriately without prematurely forcing decisions. Salem Veterinary Service also offers the following array of services: Another factor that dictates plan customization is the family’s living conditions, which include urban apartments with emerging noise factors and households with pets at different growth stages. Transition approaches help pet parents journey from preventive to monitoring or from temporary to balance with confidence. Each step is described in simple terms, and the dog’s progress is measured based on factors such as the consistency of its behavior at home and the ease of performing necessary care for upcoming appointments. The team uses a spaced approach with built-in flexibility and optional check-ins instead of overwhelming families with tasks. Salem Veterinary Service provides veterinary support to families in Salem and throughout Indiana’s countryside. By closely coordinating with pets’ life changes, embracing openness, and pursuing continual group progress. The practice provides an array of services such as Dermatology, Boarding, Preventive Medicine, Dental Care, and an In-House Pharmacy. These services assist pets at all phases of their lives, ranging from routine wellness visits to intricate medical treatment. Pet owners value the team’s proficiency, empathetic communication style, and the clinic’s capability to elucidate medical choices. Whether it is senior pet care or urgent health issues, the staff strives to build bonds that last a lifetime. The clinic also plays a role in educating owners about the health needs of their pets. Salem Veterinary Service's community involvement helps build a foundation for responsible pet ownership. New and returning clients note they feel very welcomed, and the services continue to update as veterinary practice evolves.

The staff was FANTASTIC, however this Vet was more interested in selling us products and getting us out the door as soon as possible. Came in for a new puppy exam for my 9 week old blue heeler. She sat patiently in the waiting room for over an hour (we were early) without needing a leash, went potty outside and was extremely friendly with other people/pets. The vet spent less than five minutes with us and was very unfriendly and impatient. He had extreme struggle clipping her nails and trimmed off far too much, and she nipped him in response. He kept remarking about how poorly trained she was. (9 weeks old, we have potty training, animal interactions, and basic come/sit/stay commands down. I didn't even have time to discuss this!) He was upset when I politely declined his cocoa butter dog shampoo. Furthermore I asked about vaccines and told him I was considering purchasing them somewhere else. He would not give me ANY information and said he had no routine puppy vaccination schedule to offer. I highly doubt he has no material on vaccination schedules, and I shouldn't be pressured to purchase his soap or vaccinations to receive quality care and advice. Furthermore, I EXPECT my veterinarian to be more considerate towards my pet and business, and to answer any questions about the care of my pet. Read Less
