On Wednesday 5/26, we laid our 15 year old Bichon Yorkie mix down due to Dr. Jess finding a large mass on her spleen/liver the previous day during a sick visit.
While I appreciate the care Dr. Jess showed to myself & my dog Amelia since we came to McAfee in February until yesterday.
I am beyond upset about how tech Darin interacted with my sister & I after we completed our time with saying good bye to our sweet puppers.
Dr. Anna did the procedure for us & informed us, once we were ready to say goodbye just to open the door and pop our head out to receive assistance from the techs.
Darin came in with a complete insensitive attitude to the situation & spoke to us in terms that clearly weren’t able to be understood...such as “aftercare etc”. When we had to ask for the explanation in regards to what she ment...she completed her statement by saying we can “just leave her there (on the table).
Instead of showing compassion in the moment. A simple “let me take her from you” could have done wonders. Yet, after a long 15 years with my dog...I’m left with the trouble memory of how our experience went here.
When my sister went in to pick up our pups remains (we had her cremated). She expressed our feelings of frustration to another staff member, who really could have cared less & just responded with...”we will talk to her”. 🙄

I had sugar gliders for years, and they had always came here. Two of mine suddenly fell very ill and I did not know what to do. I called frantic trying to get them brought in quickly without an appointment because I feared if I waited it would be too late. The staff said they'd call me back within an hour, and never called. I tried getting ahold of someone but no one would give me answers. Shortly after, my two babies passed. At this point I was livid and I called to tell them, and the staff was rude as all get out to me when I had JUST lost my two gliders, that meant the world to me. So I told her off and I will NEVER go to the vet again. I do not recommend.

We took our kitty there because he is sick. Turns out he has terminal cancer. The vet was very compassionate about the situation and gave us every option that was available. She even called a few days later to see how he was doing. I really appreciate the care for our fur baby. I have been going there for years and always had an excellent experience.

Dr. Brook is just so nice and so good with our Furry kids, she is always super patient and answers all of our questions and then calls us the next couple days to check on Copper, or Leon and we will not take our pets to anyone / anywhere else. I called you guys at 11am and was in by 3:30 the same day for Copper top which means a lot to me, I couldn't stand to see him limping around. from 1-10 you guys are a 12. 5 out of 5 stars, all the good stuff!! THANK YOU!!! :)

I've been taking my cats to McAfee for 14 years & have always felt they were getting not only the best of care, but LOVING care. Dr Brooke is my go-to vet, but all the vets and staff are wonderful. What more could I ask?
They also take great care of many of our cats from Independent Cat Society & even make periodic visits to the shelter.

The only vet around that treats exotic animals besides cats and dogs. McAfee had taken a vacation two years ago when I had my (movie star) skunk. I was forced to take him to Portage where they fed him cat food witch caused his liver to fail! I wouldn't take my pets anywhere but McAfee ever again! McAfee had treated my skunk for the first 9 years of his life and was in great health till i took him elsewhere!

Dr. Brooke is the absolute best ever. She treats our Mugsy like her own and treats us like family. She is the most amazing person ever. Dr. Brook is great at caring for Mugsy's many health issues from diabetes, cushing's disease, cataracts and even cancer. Dr. Dani helped us out with a correct diagnosis when Dr. Brooke was unavailable so the continuity of care was perfect! I went to another vet in Valpo for other pets in the past, but would never return there after being cared for so well by McAfee Animal staff. Dr. Brooke was so compassionate when we had to put our Yorkie Mikey out of his misery. We trust McAfee Animal Hospital and have never been disappointed. We have gone to McAfees for over 20 years. We love McAfee Animal Hospital and Dr. Brooke!

He went above and beyond when we had to transfer our dog to Chicago for life saving efforts, He checked on her and us, continuously. Truly truly the definition of an OUTSTANDING VETERINARIAN!!! and a wonderful man.

EVERYONE was great during this visit, like all the others in the past. Dr.Brooke is one of THE best vets we've come across in all our yrs of having dogs. The entire staff from those manning the desk and phones, to the vet techs , and to the vets are ALL top notch in their field. Other practices should /could take lessons from how these pro do their jobs. I swear the dogs act extra excited when I tell them they are going to see Dr. Brooke. She genuinely loves the critters she sees, and for sure ours like seeing her. Can't say enough great things about this place!

Other Docs just said change his food. McAfee vets Dr. Jessica in fact, tried everything. We found out he's allergic to everything outside, and dust mites in the house. I am as happy as can be with his care.

Dr. Vada and the rest of the staff at McAfee are AMAZING. My boyfriend and I were having trouble with our four month old puppy. She was very sick and the vet we had been taking her to shrugged off our concerns and prescribed the same "treatment" each time we took her in. After a month of the same symptoms and three separate trips to the vet, we decided that a second opinion was needed. Not only was Dr Vada attentive and listened to all of our concerns, but so was the vet technician. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They eased our mind and offered different solutions to our problem. Thankfully, our puppy's immune system fought off her bacteria problem and she is happy and healthy! I am so pleased with our decision to try out McAfee. They will be the animal hospital we choose to fix our puppy, and we will also be switching our three year old mix over to their care as well.
Professional. Efficient. Tentative. Highly, highly recommend.

We have been coming to McAfee for 25 yrs and have never had a problem and they have always taken care of our dogs. In that time we have had 3 dogs and lost all. there. Our Sammy a few weeks ago at PNC...

Our Sammy a few weeks ago at PNC because they were closed. Sammy meant the world to us. After 15 yrs and about $20,000 or more later with insulin, knee surgery's, food, grooming etc. donated all meds back to McAfee. Loved the staff there but we were very disappointed that we didn't get a call or a note From Dr,Danny with condolences just think its a little weird they didn't acknowledge our loss. I would of gave a 5 star other than that. Just left a bad taste.....

I decided to try McAfee Animal Hospital after hearing so many great things. I brought my cat, Fifi, there for a dental cleaning and after some testing prior to the cleaning got some bad news instead.....
I decided to try McAfee Animal Hospital after hearing so many great things. I brought my cat, Fifi, there for a dental cleaning and after some testing prior to the cleaning got some bad news instead... lung cancer. They did a great job of helping keep her as healthy as possible. We just discovered that her cancer has spread and Drs Jess and Andrea along with all the staff have been nothing short of wonderful with Fifi and me. They talked me through tough times and helped her bounce back as best she can. We still have a fight ahead and it won't be easy, but I trust them to help me make the best decisions with the kindness and grace they've shown so far. Much appreciated!

Awesome pet hospital. I just started going here in August with my puppy and I have had not 1 problem. The staff is very friendly and they get you in soon. I've hardly had to wait like some of the reviews I've read. As someone who works in the medical field I understand that there may come a time that you're not rushed in and out like you may like to be so for those of you who feel your time is so precious....you expect too much. Wish I would have discovered this place for my cat when I first moved out here. My puppy had elective surgery with no problems. It's pricing is comparable to other places in the area. Unfortunately I'm moving soon. I just hope I feel as comfortable with a new vet as I am with this place.

Dr. Steve and the other vets work with many area rescues in order to save unwanted, abused, and neglected animals that might not otherwise have a chance. That alone speaks volumes! How many vets will do an emergency c-section on stray dog in order to save her remaining puppies she could not deliver? Dr. Steve did not and does not save animals for the money!! I met Dr Steve after he amputated leg on puppy from Chicago Animal Control that was close to euthanasia. This pup suffered enough! Dr Steve amputated his leg and gave me the medication to care for his other issues that stemmed from abuse and neglect. He took the time to teach me how to care for new tripod dog and made sure I was comfortable before I left. This vet cares, period. If you are going somewhere else ask whether rescue animals are welcome! Folks, this is a phenomenal place with character and integrity!

I am so happy a friend recommended McAfee to us. We have two Westies and one developed a horrible skin condition. After treatment at McAfee we discovered it was allergies. Dr Danielle is terrific!! She shows genuine care and concern to our dogs. The staff is great! Couldn't be happier with McAfee!!!

I usually get there with my animal after work say 430-5 whatever i can and i dont leave there until 7 just for a regular check up it is ridiculous. i stopped going there because of it, and i loved the vet there.

The only vet around that treats exotic animals besides cats and dogs. McAfee had taken a vacation two years ago when I had my (movie star) skunk. I was forced to take him to Portage where they fed him cat food witch caused his liver to fail! I wouldn't take my pets anywhere but McAfee ever again! McAfee had treated my skunk for the first 9 years of his life and was in great health till i took him elsewhere!

Dr. Brooke is the absolute best ever. She treats our Mugsy like her own and treats us like family. She is the most amazing person ever. Dr. Brook is great at caring for Mugsy's many health issues from diabetes, cushing's disease, cataracts and even cancer. Dr. Dani helped us out with a correct diagnosis when Dr. Brooke was unavailable so the continuity of care was perfect! I went to another vet in Valpo for other pets in the past, but would never return there after being cared for so well by McAfee Animal staff. Dr. Brooke was so compassionate when we had to put our Yorkie Mikey out of his misery. We trust McAfee Animal Hospital and have never been disappointed. We have gone to McAfees for over 20 years. We love McAfee Animal Hospital and Dr. Brooke!

These folks are amazing! My kids have been seen by Dr. Brooke and Dr. Steve. Both are kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. I come in from Chicago and would not go anywhere else. Totally worth it!

Dr. Steve is the most amazing, compassionate Veterinarian we have encountered, I would only trust my "children" to him. He cares for all our animals and treats them as if they were his own. He went above and beyond when we had to transfer our dog to Chicago for life saving efforts, He checked on her and us, continuously. Truly truly the definition of an OUTSTANDING VETERINARIAN!!! and a wonderful man.

EVERYONE was great during this visit, like all the others in the past. Dr.Brooke is one of THE best vets we've come across in all our yrs of having dogs. The entire staff from those manning the desk and phones, to the vet techs , and to the vets are ALL top notch in their field. Other practices should /could take lessons from how these pro do their jobs. I swear the dogs act extra excited when I tell them they are going to see Dr. Brooke. She genuinely loves the critters she sees, and for sure ours like seeing her. Can't say enough great things about this place!

I moved to IN, 3 years ago. I tried a couple of Vets, not happy with them. A Friend told me about McAfee. My Young Lab, was very sick. He was braking out with sores all over him. Other Docs just said change his food. McAfee vets Dr. Jessica in fact, tried everything. We found out he's allergic to everything outside, and dust mites in the house. I am as happy as can be with his care.

Dr. Vada and the rest of the staff at McAfee are AMAZING. My boyfriend and I were having trouble with our four month old puppy. She was very sick and the vet we had been taking her to shrugged off our concerns and prescribed the same "treatment" each time we took her in. After a month of the same symptoms and three separate trips to the vet, we decided that a second opinion was needed. Not only was Dr Vada attentive and listened to all of our concerns, but so was the vet technician. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They eased our mind and offered different solutions to our problem. Thankfully, our puppy's immune system fought off her bacteria problem and she is happy and healthy! I am so pleased with our decision to try out McAfee. They will be the animal hospital we choose to fix our puppy, and we will also be switching our three year old mix over to their care as well.
Professional. Efficient. Tentative. Highly, highly recommend.

Our Sammy a few weeks ago at PNC because they were closed. Sammy meant the world to us. After 15 yrs and about $20,000 or more later with insulin, knee surgery's, food, grooming etc. donated all meds back to McAfee. Loved the staff there but we were very disappointed that we didn't get a call or a note From Dr,Danny with condolences just think its a little weird they didn't acknowledge our loss. I would of gave a 5 star other than that. Just left a bad taste.....

I decided to try McAfee Animal Hospital after hearing so many great things. I brought my cat, Fifi, there for a dental cleaning and after some testing prior to the cleaning got some bad news instead.....
I decided to try McAfee Animal Hospital after hearing so many great things. I brought my cat, Fifi, there for a dental cleaning and after some testing prior to the cleaning got some bad news instead... lung cancer. They did a great job of helping keep her as healthy as possible. We just discovered that her cancer has spread and Drs Jess and Andrea along with all the staff have been nothing short of wonderful with Fifi and me. They talked me through tough times and helped her bounce back as best she can. We still have a fight ahead and it won't be easy, but I trust them to help me make the best decisions with the kindness and grace they've shown so far. Much appreciated!

I can't say enough good things about this vet. They have taken care of our pets for years! We now have a deaf dog and they even better with him Dr Andrea always shows compassion and takes her time with us. She has been there on our worst day when we put our dog down and on the best day when we got a new dog.

Awesome pet hospital. I just started going here in August with my puppy and I have had not 1 problem. The staff is very friendly and they get you in soon. I've hardly had to wait like some of the reviews I've read. As someone who works in the medical field I understand that there may come a time that you're not rushed in and out like you may like to be so for those of you who feel your time is so precious....you expect too much. Wish I would have discovered this place for my cat when I first moved out here. My puppy had elective surgery with no problems. It's pricing is comparable to other places in the area. Unfortunately I'm moving soon. I just hope I feel as comfortable with a new vet as I am with this place.

Dr. Steve and the other vets work with many area rescues in order to save unwanted, abused, and neglected animals that might not otherwise have a chance. That alone speaks volumes! How many vets will do an emergency c-section on stray dog in order to save her remaining puppies she could not deliver? Dr. Steve did not and does not save animals for the money!! I met Dr Steve after he amputated leg on puppy from Chicago Animal Control that was close to euthanasia. This pup suffered enough! Dr Steve amputated his leg and gave me the medication to care for his other issues that stemmed from abuse and neglect. He took the time to teach me how to care for new tripod dog and made sure I was comfortable before I left. This vet cares, period. If you are going somewhere else ask whether rescue animals are welcome! Folks, this is a phenomenal place with character and integrity!

I like dr mcafee but it is not like you go in on time and are seen then.there is always a huge wait. I usually get there with my animal after work say 430-5 whatever i can and i dont leave there until 7 just for a regular check up it is ridiculous. i stopped going there because of it, and i loved the vet there.
