I’ve never had a bad experience with this clinic until today. Up until now, I’ve had wonderful service and have always LOVED Dr. Dotzenrod, he’s wonderful. Today I called the office to follow up on an issue that I’ve had with my cat. After she was declawed there about 6 or 7 months ago, I noticed about 4 months ago that she still had stitches in one of her paws (seemed to be somewhat uncomfortable), I was able to get in and get her seen, Doc prescribed her some pain medicati...on, and didn’t charge me for anything since it was related to her declawing, and said he imagined the stitch would dissolve soon. Well it’s not been about 3 months since then, and there’s still a stitch sticking out of her paw. So I called just wanting to set up an exam and most likely get the stitch removed from her paw, (or so I thought). Well, the lady at the front desk, first told me basically that she didn’t believe me that there could still be any stitches (mainly because they don’t usually ever stitch), but I continued to tell her I was looking right at it... and had already had her seen by Doctor Dotzenrod for it. Then she began to berate me for having a balance on my account and that if I wanted to have an exam, it would have to be paid in full. I told her that I would pay whatever balance... but wanted to know what it was for? She explained for the pain meds/exam... that the doctor told me to not worry about and that it was no charge, and that anything related to her healing from her declawing wouldn’t be charged. I have no issue paying for my animal, I don’t want her to be uncomfortable... but I also don’t need to be told something by the doctor, who’s been our family vet for years and years... and then be treated like complete crap by one of the front gals for no reason, when I’m trying to schedule an appointment for my cat, when I’ve already been following up with the same thing off and on for months. She raised her voice, was incredibly rude, berated me some payment (I have no issue paying if that’s what needs to be done), but no I’m not happy that my cat is still having issues with stitches from a procedure I paid for, obviously. She told me doctor dotzenrod can “deal with me” when he’s back next week. So that what’s that. Super disappointed. Never had a bad experience until now. See More

We have been trusting our babies to Ankeny Animal Health Clinic for almost 13 years. They have been there through it all even the sad times when we had to say good bye to our pets. We bring all 4 dogs in at the same time and the office handles it without skipping a beat.

Unfortunately, we did not have a positive experience with this vet and we cannot recommend them for treating feline diabetes. Based on our experience, I would have given one star, however, I felt it was important to note that after we addressed our concerns with the owner, we felt that our concerns were heard and appropriately addressed by him - and that we appreciated greatly.

We have had numerous pets throughout the years, and have been extremely satisfied with Ankeny Animal Health Clinic since we moved to here in 1995. One special member of our family is our dog Bo, who has been with Ankeny Animal Health Clinic since we got him as a pup. Recently, Bo's age (16 years) was beginning to take a toll on him. Dr. Steve and his entire staff were wonderful in guiding us through end of life decisions for our little guy. They have been an integral part of our pet care for almost two decades, and we are grateful for the how they treat, not only their pet patients, but the humans ones as well.

We have been going to AAHC since our first pup joined our family 6 years ago. My husband's family has been going almost 15 years. We absolutely love Dr. Dotzenrod - he's friendly and even with all of his patients, he still knows our dogs and their entire history without looking in their file. For the most part, office staff and technicians are friendly and accommodating. If it were based on that alone, we'd give 5 stars. However, our experience with Dr. Danks has always been unpleasant. The appts seem unorganized, she mixes up information and attitude has been seemingly rude and she makes statements about our dogs that contradict what Dotzenrod has said in previous appointments. The most recent appointment with her was our last attempt to be flexible about who was seeing our dogs. We will be making appts with Dotzenrod only from here on out because we love working with him.

I love this vet all of the staff is very friendly. They help you understand what the best option for you pet is whether is a certain type of medicine or surgery procedure. They care about every animal that walks through the door! Not to mention their website allows you to ask questions in detail and they respond in a very timely manner.

Dr Dotzenrod and his staff are the best that we have ever dealt with. They were always there for us over all the years that we have gone to them. They are very thoughtful and caring about you and your critter. It was never about the dollar, it was what was best for you and your pet. We have lost our Lobo and now that we are full time RV"ERS have decided not to get another dog at this time. But when and if we do decide, we will be coming right back to the Ankeny Animal Health Clinic. A big thanks to Dr. Dotzenrod and his great staff for all that you have done over the years. I’ve never had a bad experience with this clinic until today. Up until now, I’ve had wonderful service and have always LOVED Dr. Dotzenrod, he’s wonderful. Today I called the office to follow up on an issue that I’ve had with my cat. We have been going to AAHC since our first pup joined our family 6 years ago. My husband's family has been going almost 15 years. We absolutely love Dr. Dotzenrod - he's friendly and even with all of his patients, he still knows our dogs and their entire history without looking in their file. For the most part, office staff and technicians are friendly and accommodating. If it were based on that alone, we'd give 5 stars. However, our experience with Dr. Danks has always been unpleasant.
