Moved to the area 3 years ago, with a houseful of pets. One of my dogs is diabetic and it was not being controlled well. I found Dr. Weber through searching for vets that deal with this issue. The office worked with us to get the diabetes under control, it's been this way for three years. We have been so happy with them. We also have a cat with Kidney disease and a dog with allergies. They take care of all of our pets and I trust what they say. Other vets we've been to, I don't necessarily feel this way.
They always reply to messages through their site timely. The cost may be on the high side for a vet office, but they don't nickel and dime you to death for follow up care or make you come to the office for every question you may have. You won't regret going to them.

I received all my pets records in the mail with a letter to find another Vet. That's fine. I had already made my decision. This just reinforces my feelings of distrust, and proof that I chose correctly. If you cannot question or advocate for your pet, that proves ego is more important than the animals.And, they misspelled my name.The story: My little 10# dog had her 2nd dental by Dr Tabor. When I got her home she started crying, a wet cough and runny nose. I called the office and was told that I could pick up pain medicine in the morning. It was 330PM. I had to walk her for 12 hours while she cried and coughed.I won't write about the calls back and forth. When Dr Tabor finally called she let me know that there was nothing that could've been done to prevent/alleviate my dog's suffering. Not acceptable. I have had 11 of my own and 6 foster dogs in 3 states. No dental has been like this.

Was told 30 mins before I had to bring in my cats that they needed rabies shot before they could get fixed. Was not told this during the 2 times of setting up an appointment of which one that had shot...
Was told 30 mins before I had to bring in my cats that they needed rabies shot before they could get fixed. Was not told this during the 2 times of setting up an appointment of which one that had shots and which didn't. They told me they would call the previous vet of one of the cats to get her records and didn't. Kitty leukemia and rabies shot are not required for this procedure, vets just like to say that for more money as well as personal policy. I would not recommend this vet because lack of communication.

My best friend of 20 years was lost last week and the folks at Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital were so accommodating and sensitive. They even sent a condolences card in the mail while I was waiting for him to be cremated. It will be a while before I welcome another into my heart however I will be sure to return and refer anyone who needs vet care to you. All 3 vets are knowledgeable and caring. We've managed several medical conditions (diabetes, gastrointestinal) through them. They work with us to decide the best path forward. The staff is great too....

Re: cost...veterinary medicine has gotten expensive, with new techniques and modern equipment. I find the vets to be quite willing to follow a more conservative approach with many medical conditions, especially if the alternatives are costly or invasive. I like that they use the safest techniques for surgery. I don't think their prices are out of line for the area and the level of care they provide. I've had lower cost vets at a previous location - they provided a lower level of care as well. For my fur kids, I'm willing to pay reasonable costs for their health and safety.

We switched veterinary clinics a few years ago when our veterinary clinic changed ownership and the new owners were constantly trying to upsell products and services. The atmosphere changed to one where the emphasis seemed to be on getting more of our money, not on providing better service for our pets. Since switching, we have been quite pleased with our experience at Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital and would feel confident referring them to others. Five stars.

I have been bringing my pets to Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital since 1974! They have taken care of my pets from the time they were babies, to end of life. I can't say enough positive things about the care and compassion of all the staff. 2 of my dogs had serious health issues. One had epilepsy, the other had an autoimmune disease affecting her platelets. Dr. Mike worked to provide excellent care for these dogs, allowing them to live full lives. Currently I bring my Shih-Tzu, Peaches, and Calico cat, Thomasina, for care at CR Animal Hospital. They deserve a 5 Star rating!

Our pets have gone here for almost 20 years. They're good about getting in you quickly if it's an emergency situation and the follow up calls really show how much they care.
The entire staff obviously love pets: I took my 8 week old puppy in for her visit and everyone went bonkers over her, instead of just looking at her like yet another patient.
They do a great job of keeping record and notes and remember previous visits. You feel like they know you and your pets.

Took my dog in today and they had salt all over outside and inside their office. Salt used to melt ice is very harmful to dogs. I asked the receptionist about the salt and she said the veterinarians there said the salt was hyped up in the media and not that bad for dogs. Then they proceeded to be very rude to me for bringing that up. I've NEVER seen any other veterinarian use salt outside and inside their office because it is so bad for animals. Sand or kitty litter would have worked just fine. "Commonly used ice melts can not only be caustic to your dogs' paws, but can present other health hazards as well. For instance, over 50 cases of ice melt toxicity were reported in 1998 to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center. This prompted the ASPCA to issue a toxicity alert about ice melt in 2000. Vomiting was the most common clinical sign, present in 30% of these cases, with diarrhea being the next most common sign. Ingestion of ice melt products can cause depression, tremors, disorientation, loss of appetite, increased water consumption, seizures and even death!" - petparents.comI will never take my dog there again!

Was not told this during the 2 times of setting up an appointment of which one that had shots and which didn't. They told me they would call the previous vet of one of the cats to get her records and didn't. Kitty leukemia and rabies shot are not required for this procedure, vets just like to say that for more money as well as personal policy. I would not recommend this vet because lack of communication.

My best friend of 20 years was lost last week and the folks at Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital were so accommodating and sensitive. They even sent a condolences card in the mail while I was waiting for him to be cremated. It will be a while before I welcome another into my heart however I will be sure to return and refer anyone who needs vet care to you. All 3 vets are knowledgeable and caring. We've managed several medical conditions (diabetes, gastrointestinal) through them. They work with us to decide the best path forward. The staff is great too....

Re: cost...veterinary medicine has gotten expensive, with new techniques and modern equipment. I find the vets to be quite willing to follow a more conservative approach with many medical conditions, especially if the alternatives are costly or invasive. I like that they use the safest techniques for surgery. I don't think their prices are out of line for the area and the level of care they provide. I've had lower cost vets at a previous location - they provided a lower level of care as well. For my fur kids, I'm willing to pay reasonable costs for their health and safety.

Honest. Friendly. Caring. Sensitive. Thoughtful. We switched veterinary clinics a few years ago when our veterinary clinic changed ownership and the new owners were constantly trying to upsell products and services. The atmosphere changed to one where the emphasis seemed to be on getting more of our money, not on providing better service for our pets. Since switching, we have been quite pleased with our experience at Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital and would feel confident referring them to others. Five stars.

I have been bringing my pets to Cedar Rapids Animal Hospital since 1974! They have taken care of my pets from the time they were babies, to end of life. I can't say enough positive things about the care and compassion of all the staff. 2 of my dogs had serious health issues. One had epilepsy, the other had an autoimmune disease affecting her platelets. Dr. Mike worked to provide excellent care for these dogs, allowing them to live full lives. Currently I bring my Shih-Tzu, Peaches, and Calico cat, Thomasina, for care at CR Animal Hospital. They deserve a 5 Star rating!

Our pets have gone here for almost 20 years. They're good about getting in you quickly if it's an emergency situation and the follow up calls really show how much they care.
The entire staff obviously love pets: I took my 8 week old puppy in for her visit and everyone went bonkers over her, instead of just looking at her like yet another patient.
They do a great job of keeping record and notes and remember previous visits. You feel like they know you and your pets.

Took my dog in today and they had salt all over outside and inside their office. Salt used to melt ice is very harmful to dogs. I asked the receptionist about the salt and she said the veterinarians there said the salt was hyped up in the media and not that bad for dogs. Then they proceeded to be very rude to me for bringing that up. I've NEVER seen any other veterinarian use salt outside and inside their office because it is so bad for animals. Sand or kitty litter would have worked just fine. "Commonly used ice melts can not only be caustic to your dogs' paws, but can present other health hazards as well. For instance, over 50 cases of ice melt toxicity were reported in 1998 to the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center. This prompted the ASPCA to issue a toxicity alert about ice melt in 2000. Vomiting was the most common clinical sign, present in 30% of these cases, with diarrhea being the next most common sign. Ingestion of ice melt products can cause depression, tremors, disorientation, loss of appetite, increased water consumption, seizures and even death!" - petparents.comI will never take my dog there again!
