Recently we had to bring are Baby boy Sam out here. We were at are vet and due to moving they couldn’t take X-rays of are 14 year old weim. My et called and said we would be bring him out.
We were met at the door they took Sam in the back and me to A room to wait. In a short time the Doc was back and went over Sams X-rays. The mews couldn’t have been worse but she broke it to me empathetically. We went over options and costs and she answered all my questions going back many rimes to find prices for things I asked about. Then gave me the room to figure out what my next step would be. After 20 min discussion with family it was decided to end his suffering. They got him ready and Kaye’s out a blanket and oxygen for his comfort and told us to spend all the time I need them call when I was ready. My daughter arrived and they showed her in. After another 20 or more min the Doc was called it she explained what would happened and assured us of his comfort. She gave him the first medicine talking soft and sweet to him catching and gingerly laying his falling head on the blanket. Then started the second med. and listened to his heart till he was gone. Once she said he’s passed she left the room for us again. As horrible experience as it was she somehow made it a bit more bearable with the way she handled herself. I got a call yesterday and my daughter brought are baby boy home. They had mad a casting of his paw print something I always wished I had done. His ashes were put in a nice felt bag them put in a nice stained wooden box with nice woodwork and his man on the front.
Was it expensive yes but no more than other vets. There’s a lot of moving parts in a vets office and they go to a lot of school to do what they to. But imagine you have to deal with people mostly on one of the worse days of there lives. And you have to put to rest there family members probably more than they can ever count. And it doesn’t matter if they are having a bad day don’t feel good or there pets sick. Not one person I came across that day didn’t show empathy for my fur baby. To me that’s worth every cent I spent and then some. And let’s face it there running a business and to make ends meet and prosper you have to charge money.
Thank you for being there for my family on one this horrible day and helping us to make the right decision for SAM.

My kitten was trying to catch a fly, so we didn't think anything of it. Next thing we knew, he was running around yowling and sneezing. His entire snout was swollen and round, and we were PANICKING. I Google vets open on Sundays, and this was the closest option. We sped over, and we were greeted by Jasmine. I was a terrified cat mom, and she was so sweet and understanding. She called up a tech, who told me exactly what he was going to do, and took my kitten to the back. We waited for a while, but they brought Milo back out to hang out with us. After a while, Dr. Shamrock came out to talk with us. She answered all of our questions, and told us that this issue was pretty common in the summer. Finally, someone came out to discharge us and talk with us about the medication. She was also very patient with our questions and let us stay in the room as long as we needed to calm down. Overall, a little pricey, but I have NEVER had this fantastic of a vet visit, especially in an emergency like this. Their triage system works well, and the people there care so much. I will definitely be recommending them in the future.

Sitting in their lobby right now. Staff are incredibly caring and kind. My dog is receiving excellent care. Staff tell you the price of everything before they do it, and let you decide if you want it done. Prices are lower than other 24 hour vet clinics I've been to. And when your pet requires care on a Sunday, you really don't have many other options in Cedar Rapids or Marion. Five stars.

Sadly, I wish there was a zero. My experience was back in '09. Our Golden was admitted and fluid was drawn around her heart. We knew there was a risk. That was on a Friday and they wanted to observe overnight. Insisted on keeping her Saturday night also which was heartbreaking as she wanted to come home and we wanted her home. They had said they wanted to do the pricedure again Sunday, but did not give a time which I understand since it is an emergency clinic, but I felt like they could have given us an half hr to hr notice. Instead I get a phone call explaining that the doc has accidentally punctured her heart and they were losing her. It was the biggest shock I have ever had in my life and cried for months over the what if's. I still cry over her senseless loss because of human error. My recommendation for all is to find a vet that wants to be a vet 24/7!!! Majority of city vets are only vets 8-5!!

Absolutely love all of the staff that works here! They are so kind, caring, and have a lot of compassion for all animals and us humans that bring our "babies" in that need some checkin' out. A bit on the pricey side, but after all they are a specialty clinic and emergency clinic. Bottom line... they take GREAT care of everyone who walks thru their doors no matter what time of day or night it is!

I've been here a couple of times on unrelated matters with other felines. Tonight however, I called in with an issue with my special little queen ( can't stop sneezing.. its not fair) and the staff at this location spoke to me as though they knew just how special she is. So personable, knowledgeable and sweet. I will ALWAYS come here with my animals so long as it makes sense geographically.

It's never a good day when you have to bring a beloved pet to this place. However, they do everything in their power to help your pet and you feel better.
I had to take my dog out there once after he collapsed and his eyes started darting back and forth. I called them and asked them what to do and they suggested bringing him out asap. I no more then pulled up out front and 3 of the staff were out at my car with a gurney with one of them jumping into the back of the car to pick him up before I could even get my seat belt undone. They rushed him in back and took me to a room to wait.
Best and most caring staff ever.
Just expensive. Never spent less than $500 there. Emergency unfortunately cost money. But hey, my pets are worth more than a dollar sign to me.

Eastern Iowa Vet Center was amazing! We brought in my 8 month old kitten after a table had fallen on her. We knew it was bad so we rushed her there. They were waiting at the doors for us. They took Marci into the back and took Me and My boyfriend and friends to a room to wait for the doctor. The doctor came in and explained everything to us in great detail and words we could understand. She told us our chances of Marci living was 50/50. I wanted the x-rays to make sure and she went right way to them. She came back and told us the bad news. Marci wasn't going to make it. She explained everything she found and explained our options. We chose to put Marci down, and even though they couldn't put Marci down the normal way we were still allowed to be there. They brought Marci into our room and let us say goodbye to her for about 15 minutes, it could've been longer but Marci was in a lot of pain so we told the doctor to take her in the back and do it so they could try and give her more meds for the pain. And then Marci was gone. They let us hang out in the room a little while after and never pushed us about paying. We walked out of the room with tears rolling down our faces, each one of the girls behind the desk were so sweet and said that they were sorry for our loss. About a week later I went and checked my mail and there was a sympathy card from them. They went above and beyond what they needed to do for us. They were amazing and I can never thank them enough for everything they did for us in our time of need. Thank you to everyone who worked the night of February 14th. You all will always be part of Marci's journey and I will never forget that.

One Saturday morning I called this clinic, letting them know I was bringing in my 6 month old red heeler in. Not only are the front desk people very helpful, but also very kind. She assured me she would let the team know we were coming to get into a room right away. When we arrived, they I indeed whisked us right into a room. We had a very short wait, explained symptoms again and a parvo test was done. While waiting for the test to finish, the vet came in. She was very kind and it was easy to tell she genuinely cared about our fur baby, she was not upset when I had told her about little Teddy's habit of swallowing socks and assured me she would make sure there wasn't a blockage regardless of the test results. After the 10 minutes were up, she came back in and confirmed parvo. She was gentle, but direct, I'm explaining we could either leave him there or take him home with everything we would need. We chose to leave him there, I wanted the best chance for survival. I got two phone call updates a day, and was encouraged to call anytime I wanted/needed to check on him. Tuesday we got a call that we could take him home, when we arrived to pick him up all meds were not only given to us but we're told what each medication was for. Today, Teddy is almost back to his old self, if not for the quick action and attentive care I'm positive Teddy would not have survived. This clinic is so personable, kind, and understanding. I am over the moon with the service we received

I need to thank everyone at EIVSC for their compassion, their care, and their technical skill. I had to make the decision to let one of my pups go after a long battle with congestive heart failure, and the entire staff supported both me and Cash before and after, even sending a condolence card to let me know they were thinking of me. Cash was as calm and suffered as little as possible during the process. As a dog over 110+ lbs, I was a little worried but dosages were accurate and he slipped away peacefully. It took me a while to be able to write this, but thank you, EIVSC, for all you did for us. Thank you. - Sam

My sweet doggie fell ill late on a recent Saturday night. She went downhill quickly. Feeling helpless, I remembered there was a 24 hr Emergency vet in C.R. I had never been to this vet but we had no other options. Unfortunately she passed away shortly after arriving. We were devastated. I can't express how impressed I am with the care and compassion we received. They were incredibly professional. I feel more at ease knowing she was in such good hands from the moment we walked in, during her final moments and the handling of her remains and cremation. Saying it has been a tough few weeks is an understatement. Yesterday I received a sympathy card from my Doctor and many other staff members. It was a beautiful gesture that was unexpected. They had only just met Gracie and us. I am forever grateful for Eastern Iowa Veterinary Specialty Center for existing and for the care we received.

The care that our cat received here was beyond anything we could have expected. He went in Saturday for continued vomiting and his blood work and x-rays came back normal so he was sent home with some meds and special food in the hopes he would get better. He continued to decline so we brought him back in that night. He was there for four days on an IV with fluids and medication. We got daily calls (sometimes twice a day) from the vet to update us about his progress as well as the cost. The vets are all extremely knowledgeable and kind and listened to us when we suggested they leave him alone with his food because he doesn't like eating in front of people. We were able to visit him each day and they even allowed us to come in after midnight to see him since we're on a second shift schedule. We brought him home last night and although normally we would've been charged for an extra day we were not since that was the only time we would have been able to pick him up. They sent daily updates to our normal vet so everyone was kept in the loop. I don't know what we would've done without the fantastic staff at this fantastic clinic. Our big guy is home now and doing great thanks to all the help he was given here. I have nothing bad to say about this place.

My family and I have had multiple encounters with EIVSC and every time we've been there we were treated very well. First time was in 2010, our 10 week old puppy had parvo. We were told that if we would have waited even an hour longer to take him in, he would not have survived. Thanks to EIVSC that 10 week old pup is now a 6 year old pain in the butt. We had to rush one of our other dogs there last night for an emergency stitching because she managed to slice her back open. Once again, nothing but nice, caring, honest, and respectful staff. They answered all of our questions. They were patient with me when I was sobbing on the phone and could barely get words out because I was in such a panic. They even met us outside to help get our dog inside. EIVSC is an amazing place to go for emergency care!

Our dog, Annie, got very sick on Sunday. She didn't make it. I couldn't be there and kept asking mom if the staff was as good to her as she deserved. She assured me they were so good to her and to our family. Thanks for giving Annie the best possible care!!! We miss her so much but it helps knowing she had good people to care for her at the end.

We called after our puppy swallowed a large wood-chip and asked if there was anything we could do at home since we live far away. Over the phone they told us that they would need to induce vomiting and extract the chip in their office. They insisted it could become lodged and result in death or surgery so of course we drove all the way to their office. When we arrived the vet checked breathing, pulse, and temperature before sending us on our way without any of the treatment deemed essential over the phone. They should have told us that on the phone before wasting 3 hours of our time and $100 of our money.

They had said they wanted to do the pricedure again Sunday, but did not give a time which I understand since it is an emergency clinic, but I felt like they could have given us an half hr to hr notice. Instead I get a phone call explaining that the doc has accidentally punctured her heart and they were losing her. It was the biggest shock I have ever had in my life and cried for months over the what if's. I still cry over her senseless loss because of human error. My recommendation for all is to find a vet that wants to be a vet 24/7!!! Majority of city vets are only vets 8-5!!

Absolutely love all of the staff that works here! They are so kind, caring, and have a lot of compassion for all animals and us humans that bring our "babies" in that need some checkin' out. A bit on the pricey side, but after all they are a specialty clinic and emergency clinic. Bottom line... they take GREAT care of everyone who walks thru their doors no matter what time of day or night it is!

I've been here a couple of times on unrelated matters with other felines. Tonight however, I called in with an issue with my special little queen ( can't stop sneezing.. its not fair) and the staff at this location spoke to me as though they knew just how special she is. So personable, knowledgeable and sweet. I will ALWAYS come here with my animals so long as it makes sense geographically.

It's never a good day when you have to bring a beloved pet to this place. However, they do everything in their power to help your pet and you feel better.
I had to take my dog out there once after he collapsed and his eyes started darting back and forth. I called them and asked them what to do and they suggested bringing him out asap. I no more then pulled up out front and 3 of the staff were out at my car with a gurney with one of them jumping into the back of the car to pick him up before I could even get my seat belt undone. They rushed him in back and took me to a room to wait.
Best and most caring staff ever.
Just expensive. Never spent less than $500 there. Emergency unfortunately cost money. But hey, my pets are worth more than a dollar sign to me.

Eastern Iowa Vet Center was amazing! We brought in my 8 month old kitten after a table had fallen on her. We knew it was bad so we rushed her there. They were waiting at the doors for us. They took Marci into the back and took Me and My boyfriend and friends to a room to wait for the doctor. The doctor came in and explained everything to us in great detail and words we could understand. She told us our chances of Marci living was 50/50. I wanted the x-rays to make sure and she went right way to them. She came back and told us the bad news. Marci wasn't going to make it. She explained everything she found and explained our options. We chose to put Marci down, and even though they couldn't put Marci down the normal way we were still allowed to be there. They brought Marci into our room and let us say goodbye to her for about 15 minutes, it could've been longer but Marci was in a lot of pain so we told the doctor to take her in the back and do it so they could try and give her more meds for the pain. And then Marci was gone. They let us hang out in the room a little while after and never pushed us about paying. We walked out of the room with tears rolling down our faces, each one of the girls behind the desk were so sweet and said that they were sorry for our loss. About a week later I went and checked my mail and there was a sympathy card from them. They went above and beyond what they needed to do for us. They were amazing and I can never thank them enough for everything they did for us in our time of need. Thank you to everyone who worked the night of February 14th. You all will always be part of Marci's journey and I will never forget that.

One Saturday morning I called this clinic, letting them know I was bringing in my 6 month old red heeler in. Not only are the front desk people very helpful, but also very kind. She assured me she would let the team know we were coming to get into a room right away. When we arrived, they I indeed whisked us right into a room. We had a very short wait, explained symptoms again and a parvo test was done. While waiting for the test to finish, the vet came in. She was very kind and it was easy to tell she genuinely cared about our fur baby, she was not upset when I had told her about little Teddy's habit of swallowing socks and assured me she would make sure there wasn't a blockage regardless of the test results. After the 10 minutes were up, she came back in and confirmed parvo. She was gentle, but direct, I'm explaining we could either leave him there or take him home with everything we would need. We chose to leave him there, I wanted the best chance for survival. I got two phone call updates a day, and was encouraged to call anytime I wanted/needed to check on him. Tuesday we got a call that we could take him home, when we arrived to pick him up all meds were not only given to us but we're told what each medication was for. Today, Teddy is almost back to his old self, if not for the quick action and attentive care I'm positive Teddy would not have survived. This clinic is so personable, kind, and understanding. I need to thank everyone at EIVSC for their compassion, their care, and their technical skill. I had to make the decision to let one of my pups go after a long battle with congestive heart failure, and the entire staff supported both me and Cash before and after, even sending a condolence card to let me know they were thinking of me. Cash was as calm and suffered as little as possible during the process. As a dog over 110+ lbs, I was a little worried but dosages were accurate and he slipped away peacefully. It took me a while to be able to write this, but thank you, EIVSC, for all you did for us. Thank you. - Sam

Down to earth. They are continous about the cost of care and advise accordingly. Thorough and caring staff. They do recommend to notch care but advise you of all your options.

Beware, they like to rack up your bill by making you think your pet needs additional things done or checked out. I only go here if I absolutely have to as they are VERY expensive and not overly honest...

My sweet doggie fell ill late on a recent Saturday night. She went downhill quickly. Feeling helpless, I remembered there was a 24 hr Emergency vet in C.R. I had never been to this vet but we had no other options. Unfortunately she passed away shortly after arriving. We were devastated. I can't express how impressed I am with the care and compassion we received. They were incredibly professional. I feel more at ease knowing she was in such good hands from the moment we walked in, during her final moments and the handling of her remains and cremation. Saying it has been a tough few weeks is an understatement. Yesterday I received a sympathy card from my Doctor and many other staff members. It was a beautiful gesture that was unexpected. They had only just met Gracie and us. I am forever grateful for Eastern Iowa Veterinary Specialty Center for existing and for the care we received.

The care that our cat received here was beyond anything we could have expected. He went in Saturday for continued vomiting and his blood work and x-rays came back normal so he was sent home with some meds and special food in the hopes he would get better. He continued to decline so we brought him back in that night. He was there for four days on an IV with fluids and medication. We got daily calls (sometimes twice a day) from the vet to update us about his progress as well as the cost. The vets are all extremely knowledgeable and kind and listened to us when we suggested they leave him alone with his food because he doesn't like eating in front of people. We were able to visit him each day and they even allowed us to come in after midnight to see him since we're on a second shift schedule. We brought him home last night and although normally we would've been charged for an extra day we were not since that was the only time we would have been able to pick him up. They sent daily updates to our normal vet so everyone was kept in the loop. I don't know what we would've done without the fantastic staff at this fantastic clinic. Our big guy is home now and doing great thanks to all the help he was given here. I have nothing bad to say about this place.

My family and I have had multiple encounters with EIVSC and every time we've been there we were treated very well. First time was in 2010, our 10 week old puppy had parvo. We were told that if we would have waited even an hour longer to take him in, he would not have survived. Thanks to EIVSC that 10 week old pup is now a 6 year old pain in the butt. We had to rush one of our other dogs there last night for an emergency stitching because she managed to slice her back open. Once again, nothing but nice, caring, honest, and respectful staff. They answered all of our questions. They were patient with me when I was sobbing on the phone and could barely get words out because I was in such a panic. They even met us outside to help get our dog inside. EIVSC is an amazing place to go for emergency care!

Our dog, Annie, got very sick on Sunday. She didn't make it. I couldn't be there and kept asking mom if the staff was as good to her as she deserved. She assured me they were so good to her and to our family. Thanks for giving Annie the best possible care!!! We miss her so much but it helps knowing she had good people to care for her at the end.

We called after our puppy swallowed a large wood-chip and asked if there was anything we could do at home since we live far away. Over the phone they told us that they would need to induce vomiting and extract the chip in their office. They insisted it could become lodged and result in death or surgery so of course we drove all the way to their office. When we arrived the vet checked breathing, pulse, and temperature before sending us on our way without any of the treatment deemed essential over the phone. They should have told us that on the phone before wasting 3 hours of our time and $100 of our money.
