Edgewood Animal Hospital was originally established in 1971. Since that time, the practice has changed, evolved and improved into the modern pet clinic it is today. We are proud to have served the Cedar Rapids and Marion area for more than 4 decades, and we strive to carry on the solid reputation our original owners worked so hard to establish within the community. While many of the faces of the clinic have changed over the years, the one thing that hasn’t is our unwavering commitment to helping you and your pet enjoy as many happy, healthy years of companionship as possible.
Under our current ownership, the EAH team has adopted a new “esprit de corps” philosophy. This common spirit propels us to continually raise the bar in providing quality care and exceptional service. To that end, we have made many adjustments and improvements to help better serve the needs of our clients and their animal companions. These enhancements include updating our hospital to become completely computerized, and ensuring that we have access to all of the cutting edge tools and technology we need to do our jobs most effectively.
The services we offer have been designed to assist our patients through every life stage and support a lifetime of wellness. This includes cutting edge medical, dental, diagnostic and surgical care, as well as general pet care services, such as professional grooming and dog training classes. From that first round of vaccinations to advanced surgery, and any other service, procedure or treatment option needed, we’re prepared to work with you – every step of the way – to meet all of your pet care needs. Animals we treat include everything from dogs, cats and pocket pets to birds, reptiles and exotics. If they’re important to you, they’re important to us!

I've now had three negative experiences with the Edgewood Animal Hospital, and have lost all trust in this vet clinic. They've been extremely disorganized, needing to reschedule and make changes to appointments at the very last minute, and they overcomplicate what should be very simple tasks. Organization and ease of access to routine care are very important to me, and EAH has done very poorly in those aspects.
The vet I worked with was great, but unfortunately all these problems appear to be at the front desk / administration level.

He had a mass of some sort in his bladder and was very ill..Dr Hickey got us in right away put him on medication and called several times just to check up on him! If it were not for her love and devotion to our family member, Kujo would not be witb us today! Thank you so much for everything! You Rock! I have taken my 2 dogs to EAH for about 7 years now. I have had nothing but good experiences!!! My boxer's name they knew before mine at 1 point :) I'm happy with that personally!! In the last year my dogs have needed some extra visits after their yearly exams. Dr Leo was great with my Boxer that got an eye injury (anyone that owns a boxer knows how they do not sit still)!!! Dr Taylor helped my other mix dog with an infection he got within his jowl. I have had other vets at EAH and all have treated myself and my pets with care. My dogs are family to me and I appreciate seeing them served in caring manner!!!! Thank you!!!!!

Been taking our cat there for about two years now and they are pretty amazing from our experience. Dr. Meaney is always great with our cat and the staff are attentive and willing to answer questions about any products they carry or give suggestions if you are looking for something. Our cat can be not the happiest when she goes there and they are very adept at taking anxious unhappy animals in stride, showing compassion and care to try to ease their anxiety as best as they can.

Sara was our vet and she was excellent, extremely knowledgable, and very loving to My girls. The Vet assistant was absolutely awesome as well ;-)
Thank you ladies for making our visit so comfortable and nice :-)
I recently had to give Abby some peace and Dr.Leo was extremely gentle, caring, and comforting. She even sent me a handwritten sympathy card. Thank you Dr.Leo :-) It really meant a lot to me :-) I hope you know how much you helped me that day.

We scheduled an appointment and were seen promptly. My cat is extremely obedient but is a scaredy-cat/drama queen. Due to this I was worried how she would react with the staff as it was her first ever vet visit. The staff listened to me and treated Octavia exactly how I wanted her to be treated which resulted in an incredible experience.
Thank you for your professionalism and respect, I will gladly bring my fur baby hear going forward!

Edgewood Animal Hospital has always provided my pets with excellent care. We have two kitties (Charlie and Lili), a cockatiel (Cheekie), and a leopard gecko (Khaleesi). We recently had to make the difficult decision to euthanize one of our feather babies due to terrible seizures. It was manageable for a while, but once he was having them every day, the doctor helped us come to the conclusion that he just wasn't living a life of quality any longer. The doctors and staff were very supportive in our time of need. They are all very, very passionate about their careers. They even sent us a card. Thank you all at Edgewood Animal Hospital. You will never know how much that meant to us.

I want to thank the entire staff of Edgewood Animal Hospital, and especially doctors Hankner and Leo, for the exceptional care showed to my dog Cash from the time he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure until the end. We all knew it wasn't a battle that would be won but everyone did their very best for both dog and human. Unfortunately, Cashy passed almost three weeks back. I knew any day could be his last, but with the help of EAH, we had 7 more months than I'd expected. Thank you, Edgewood Animal Hospital, for your care and compassion, including the condolence card I received before I'd even gathered the strength to call as I'd intended. I started by taking my cat here to have her put down. My previous vet had diagnosed her with stomach cancer that was inoperable and it was time. My previous vet had also lacked bed side manners when breaking this news to me. Edgewood was very courteous and understanding to the situation even though I was a new customer. Since then I have brought our other animals here and been blessed with our vet Dr. Leo. She has been wonderful, someone who truly takes pride in her job and loves our animals. I've always been treated with the upmost respect by her and the other vet techs. When I have a question, it's answered and when I ask for an opinion on certain products or procedures Dr. Leo gives her opinion and does not try to push unnecessary items or procedures on my pets. It's nice to know that she is putting the pets best interest at heart. Customer Service goes along way with me and if I could give this place 10 stars, I would!!

Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids works directly with the great advocates at EAH! This group of doctors and staff are amazing. They check all of the boxes that are required for a great veterinary clinic. Skill, proficiency, advanced diagnostic capabilities, emergency surgery, orthopedics, exotics, great in-patient hospital care and loads of compassion. They are true advocates for animals. Our organization requires a high skill level in veterinary care for the wide variety of problems within the homeless animal population. EAH saves lives every day and we are proud to call them our veterinary partners.

I've been bringing my cat here since he was diagnosed with advanced stage kidney failure on an emergency visit. Dr. Conrad has worked with us for the last 8 months and he is now at mid stage. My cat would not be good health (despite his terminal illness) if it weren't for this office and their great staff. He is happy and active now and I have this wonderful place to thank for it. I can't recommend this vet clinic highly enough.

I like that the staff at EAH talks to me first and not my dogs. (Many other clinics only seem to talk to the pets and ignore the person.) I like how the people at reception are prepared and knowledgeable. I don't recall hearing "I don't know" or "can you wait while I go get your records". I appreciate that although you are a busy place, I am not hurried on the phone or in person. I like how organized, timely, and how smooth things seem to run. I like that the doctors themselves will call with information. You might have turnover in staff, but unlike other places, it doesn't feel chaotic. I still feel like people know me there. You are worth the 45 minute drive! And your new look and artwork is fantastic!

We are new to Cedar Rapids and had taken our two dogs to this Vet. It has been 6 weeks and all of the issues my dogs were diagnosed with have gone unresolved- and they were routine things-- stitches needing to come out from where growths were removed, and an ear infection and parasite in our new puppy. The stitches have been put in and removed from my almost 13 year old dog now 2 times in one spot and 3 times in another. This has not only caused my dog distress but has also cost us an unexpected costs.
My new puppy has had an ear infection, which we have now gone to the vet for 2 times is still not resolved. He has a parasite which we have also gone to the vet 2 times for is still not resolved. I have had many dogs in the past and know that these issues are routine and should have been resolved already. I have lost faith that this vet has the ability to care for my dogs. I know that some issues take a little time and that bad luck can be a factor- but to have nothing be resolved does not seem legitimate to me.
I will not be going back to this vet. My dogs have both been through too much.

On Tuesday August 23rd , I had to say goodbye to my best friend. Molly was my heart, and I loved her so much and she loved me too. We had a strong bond that I know only comes once in a lifetime. I was devastated for her and for me. She fought bravely, but she got so tired. I hope she thinks I made the right decision for her. The pain of not having her here is great. I miss her with everything I do. It feels like nothing will be the same again. How can it be? My best friend is not here. So today, waiting on my porch was a basket of flowers. They were from Mollys vet. I so appreciated the care Molly received. They tried everything for her. They were patient with me, while I battled the decision, and when the time came, it was a peaceful, loving and very caring environment, for both Molly and I. I miss Molly so much, sometimes the pain feels too much to bare, and then the flowers arrive today. Thank you so much Dr. Leo. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

We scheduled an appointment and were seen promptly. My cat is extremely obedient but is a scaredy-cat/drama queen. Due to this I was worried how she would react with the staff as it was her first ever vet visit. The staff listened to me and treated Octavia exactly how I wanted her to be treated which resulted in an incredible experience.
Thank you for your professionalism and respect, I will gladly bring my fur baby hear going forward!

Treats my fur babies with care and kindness. We brought in ababy who had passes away and they were very thoughtful to give us a private room to grieve. The staff was also very patient as we made buriel decision and even brought the bill in to us instead of us having to go to the counter. So thankful that we chose EAH for all of our fur baby needs.

Dr. Karen Taylor has known us for many, many years so she knows what we've been through with several sick animals, both dogs and a cat. Edgewood Animal Hospital has always provided my pets with excellent care. We have two kitties (Charlie and Lili), a cockatiel (Cheekie), and a leopard gecko (Khaleesi). We recently had to make the difficult decision to euthanize one of our feather babies due to terrible seizures. It was manageable for a while, but once he was having them every day, the doctor helped us come to the conclusion that he just wasn't living a life of quality any longer. The doctors and staff were very supportive in our time of need. They are all very, very passionate about their careers. They even sent us a card. Thank you all at Edgewood Animal Hospital. You will never know how much that meant to us.

I want to thank the entire staff of Edgewood Animal Hospital, and especially doctors Hankner and Leo, for the exceptional care showed to my dog Cash from the time he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure until the end. We all knew it wasn't a battle that would be won but everyone did their very best for both dog and human. Unfortunately, Cashy passed almost three weeks back. I knew any day could be his last, but with the help of EAH, we had 7 more months than I'd expected. Thank you, Edgewood Animal Hospital, for your care and compassion, including the condolence card I received before I'd even gathered the strength to call as I'd intended. When I first moved to the Cedar Rapids, I tried this out as my vet for my dog Aiden and he was treated so well through his regular care and his surgery that I knew it was no question that I would keep bringing Aiden and now a new puppy Kiba even though its a drive across town now. I started by taking my cat here to have her put down. My previous vet had diagnosed her with stomach cancer that was inoperable and it was time. My previous vet had also lacked bed side manners when breaking this news to me. Edgewood was very courteous and understanding to the situation even though I was a new customer. Since then I have brought our other animals here and been blessed with our vet Dr. Leo. She has been wonderful, someone who truly takes pride in her job and loves our animals. I've always been treated with the upmost respect by her and the other vet techs. When I have a question, it's answered and when I ask for an opinion on certain products or procedures Dr. Leo gives her opinion and does not try to push unnecessary items or procedures on my pets. It's nice to know that she is putting the pets best interest at heart. Customer Service goes along way with me and if I could give this place 10 stars, I would!!

They check all of the boxes that are required for a great veterinary clinic. Skill, proficiency, advanced diagnostic capabilities, emergency surgery, orthopedics, exotics, great in-patient hospital care and loads of compassion. They are true advocates for animals. Our organization requires a high skill level in veterinary care for the wide variety of problems within the homeless animal population. I've been bringing my cat here since he was diagnosed with advanced stage kidney failure on an emergency visit. Dr. Conrad has worked with us for the last 8 months and he is now at mid stage. My cat would not be good health (despite his terminal illness) if it weren't for this office and their great staff. He is happy and active now and I have this wonderful place to thank for it. I can't recommend this vet clinic highly enough.

I cannot thank Dr. Young and the techs enough for taking such great care of my babies! She has been wonderful to my senior cat, Ollie. After seeing her and getting on prescription food, he has had 0 urine accidents. He had some teeth removed last week, and she was so comforting and reassuring to this worried cat Mama! He is happy and healthy again. I love EAH!

I like that the staff at EAH talks to me first and not my dogs. (Many other clinics only seem to talk to the pets and ignore the person.) I like how the people at reception are prepared and knowledgeable. I don't recall hearing "I don't know" or "can you wait while I go get your records". I appreciate that although you are a busy place, I am not hurried on the phone or in person. I like how organized, timely, and how smooth things seem to run. I like that the doctors themselves will call with information. You might have turnover in staff, but unlike other places, it doesn't feel chaotic. I still feel like people know me there. You are worth the 45 minute drive! And your new look and artwork is fantastic!

We are new to Cedar Rapids and had taken our two dogs to this Vet. It has been 6 weeks and all of the issues my dogs were diagnosed with have gone unresolved- and they were routine things-- stitches needing to come out from where growths were removed, and an ear infection and parasite in our new puppy. The stitches have been put in and removed from my almost 13 year old dog now 2 times in one spot and 3 times in another. This has not only caused my dog distress but has also cost us an unexpected costs.
My new puppy has had an ear infection, which we have now gone to the vet for 2 times is still not resolved. He has a parasite which we have also gone to the vet 2 times for is still not resolved. I have had many dogs in the past and know that these issues are routine and should have been resolved already. I have lost faith that this vet has the ability to care for my dogs. I know that some issues take a little time and that bad luck can be a factor- but to have nothing be resolved does not seem legitimate to me.
I will not be going back to this vet. My dogs have both been through too much.

On Tuesday August 23rd , I had to say goodbye to my best friend. Molly was my heart, and I loved her so much and she loved me too. We had a strong bond that I know only comes once in a lifetime. I was devastated for her and for me. She fought bravely, but she got so tired. I hope she thinks I made the right decision for her. The pain of not having her here is great. I miss her with everything I do. It feels like nothing will be the same again. How can it be? My best friend is not here. So today, waiting on my porch was a basket of flowers. They were from Mollys vet. I so appreciated the care Molly received. They tried everything for her. They were patient with me, while I battled the decision, and when the time came, it was a peaceful, loving and very caring environment, for both Molly and I. I miss Molly so much, sometimes the pain feels too much to bare, and then the flowers arrive today. Thank you so much Dr. Leo. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
